- SBBCJWB0 contributionsFabulous, Interesting, Fun and Delicious! Our forage cooking class was just the best! We foraged through the coast picking and learning about edible plants while we heard about sustainable farming and the history of farming in Italy and that area. Then we went back to an outdoor kitchen up the mountainside overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and prepared a fresh and delicious meal that we enjoyed together. This was my favorite activity while I was traveling through Italy for 2 weeks.Written October 22, 2019
- Dublin490 contributionsWhat a great experience! My husband and I spent a wonderful day trekking with a great group of 8 strangers who were great buddies by the end of the day! We went foraging for wild plants and herbs! We were under the watchful eye of one of the crew from gastronomic trekking! It was appox one hour of walking collecting edible flowers which we then brought back to the rooftop of a hotel in Praiano. There we met Giacomo, the main man who was very interesting and such a wonderful font of knowledge of everything wonderful about food! We spent several hours preparing and cooking a three course meal using the ingredients we had gathered and then sat together and enjoyed the results of our work with a couple of glasses of wine and great chat! A wonderful experience and one I can highly recommend.Written July 10, 2019
- mdm_43_770 contributionsA worthwhile off-the-beaten path experience in Praiano...From a fascinating educational experience (about foraging, slow food, and Amalfi Coast culture), to a hands-on cooking & dining experience, this gastronomic trek was a highlight of our visit to southern Italy. Throw in genuine hospitality plus a fun group to share the experience with, and you have a not-to-be-missed adventure in Praiano. One note: come prepared to climb steps...lots of steps - a bit of a challenge yet well worth the payoff!Written June 5, 2019
- Jonathan0410 contributionsDont miss this if at all possibleSpent 1 week on the Amalfi coast with my wife and 4 adult children. This event was the highlight of our trip and the meal we made using the collected ingredients was the best meal we had the whole week. Dont think twice about doing this. Just do it.Written May 26, 2019
- dcdb3310 contributionsWowI challenged my love to find something "different" for us to do on our first ever trip to Europe. Our entire trip was amazing, and Giacomo changed our perspectives about LIVING. It was a hot afternoon, and by the end of an amazing journey we were best friends with nature, and 8 other nice people from around the world (ok, four of us were from Long Island, heh). Do this, you will not be disappointed!Written November 26, 2018
- kkmpizzo0 contributionsDO NOT MISS THIS INCREDIBLE ADVENTURE!!!!What an absolutely fantastic experience. Giacomo was knowledgeable, engaging, friendly, AMAZING!!! His explanation of the various plants, herbs, flowers as well as the local history was so interesting. After foraging through the fields and woods for an hour or so, we put together a variety of dishes.....salad, bruschetta, frittata, cavatelli, fried zucchini flowers, dessert......YUM!!!! Not to mention a variety of local wines that complemented each course perfectly. We would definitely do this again.Written November 2, 2018
- belovedbutcher0 contributionsA “must-do” in positanoGiacomo led a brilliant day full of food adventures. This leisurely food foraging introduced us to tons of new edible foods (like wild zucchini flowers, and “pig weed”) and brought us a taste of Italy’s approach to slow food. Giacomo then welcomed us onto his family’s farmhouse situated on terraces overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean and spectacular town and Mountain View’s. Together we made an incredible meal featuring all that we had foraged (and then some). With his two chef assistants, he gave each of us close training on how to make the food, including fresh pasta. They then served everything to us in a lovely family-style sit down with delicious wine. Though this activity is a bit off the beaten path (we had to take a long, windy bus ride up there) it is TOTALLY WORTH IT!Written September 8, 2018
- Lindsey C0 contributionsAmazing experience, food and views! The afternoon and evening with Giacomo, Antonio and the rest of the group was fantastic. It was a highlight of our trip to Italy. It was the cooking course we had wanted to include in our holiday but also an amazing chance to see and learn more about the Amalfi region, it’s people and history. Not to mention the beautiful produce and wine. Arranging to do the experience with Giacomo was easy and very professional. We couldn’t rate it more highly. Thank you!Written August 12, 2018
- stephonholiday160 contributionsInformative, fun and so yummy! A must do.One of our best days in Positano was the magical day we spent with Giacomo and his team. Giacomo’s love and enthusiasm for what he does is contagious. We loved ambling along through the beautiful hills collecting ‘weeds’ for the cooking class and lunch. Not being a cook I was concerned about the cooking class component of the day. I needn’t have worried. It was fun with simple and clear instructions. The food was delicious and accompanied with wonderful local wines. I could have stayed for hours. Highly recommended.Written July 27, 2018

- LJeMD0 contributionsLOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!This was a perfect outing for our family group of 7 adults. We learned so much while picking plants and then when using them in various recipes. The food was fabulous and plentiful and the setting boasts a spectacular view. Even those who were initially a bit skeptical said this was one of the coolest things they have done. Highly recommend this experience! Thank you Giacomo.Written July 17, 2018
- Youaresayingitwong0 contributionsQuit reading the reviews and just sign up for thisGiacomo is truly passionate about what he will teach you in this wonderful adventure. Actually experiencing first hand the art of foraging, and seeing the love imparted to the fruits and produce by the local farmers is completely eye opening. The bounty of the land and the love and passion of the producers of the gathered and prepared foods create unparalled tastes and flavors that will truly be an enlightening experience. Coming from the United States, where everything is planted by machine, harvested by machine, packaged by machine and transported by machine, the freshness of the harvested food on this adventure is unlike anything we can get stateside. Even “farmers markets” in the US does not have the freshness and flavors of what we experienced on this adventure. As Giacomo said, everyone, everywhere is stressing “locally sourced”. but how local is local? There is nothing more locally sourced than picking your own zucchini flowers (male flowers only, please), “sticky leaves”, wild arugula (rockets), sage, zucchini, and countless other flowers, herbs and leaves. My hat’s off to Giacomo and his Team (this is you Antonio). Tara, it was great to meet you, and you are so lucky to be able to learn from Giacomo. Lisa and Ben, our fellow Trekkers, Awesome meeting you, and yes, we did take the 1,700 stairs down to Positano. John and Cathy, fellow trekkers and stair partners, WOO HOOOOO!!!! If you made it this far into our review, congratulations, and just sign up for this adventure already!!!!! Giacomo..... GRATZIE CHEF!!!!!!Written June 27, 2018
- AlliBenton0 contributionsfun food adventureI did not want to leave Italy without attending a cooking class of some sort. This was not only a cooking class but an adventure. The first half was the “trek”. A very easy terrain with fantastic views. Lots of education about the history of the town and the plants we past along the way. We all had our hand in picking the edible greens and flowers along the way. The second half was the fun part where we all had our hands in making so many different dishes. We made apps, then sat down at the table with our beautiful and delicious second courses, and then dessert all accompanied with Prosecco, wines, and aperitifs. I learned so much and can’t wait to use the recipes for an upcoming Italian feast I am hosting for friends.Written June 4, 2018

Great cooking class with education regarding the use of local ingredients to create wonderful meals. Giamcomo and Luisa were great teachers. The venue for the very hands on cooking portion of the class was beautiful. I would recommend if you want to learn a little about local farming and have a hands on cooking class. It was a great way to spend a half a day in Praiano.

Top memory of our trip to Italy and a must for those interested in a cooking class. Giacomo was a fantastic guide, teaching us about the history and makeup of the area during our foraging experience. I would have been happy with just that alone but then it was taken above and beyond our expectations once we got into the kitchen.
In addition to Giacomo, Antonio helped each one of us with our technique in a laid back and fun manner. The menu and drink pairings were perfect. It was an unforgettable way to spend a day in Praiano. We couldn’t be happier. Thank you!

Undoubtedly one of the most informative, fun, inspirational and yummy cooking experiences we have had. Our host Giacomo is a wealth of knowledge, expertise and commitment to the authentic foods of the region with his family as longtime farmers in Positano. The gardens and wild space in the area is full of trees, bushes, wild herbs and flowers with a unique history that often offers a delicious treat. The local dishes we prepared coupled with the delicious wine and liqueurs was yummy. Different types of pestos, cheeses, bruschettas, homemade pasta and desert filled our senses and was all delicious. The other guests were terrific including another local master chef and we hit it off and all spent much of the day together. I gained confidence in my skills, learned so much and made new friends. What a wonderful day.

What a great day. It started at 11 o’clock. We took a walk/trek to learn about the history, herbs, vegetables, and plants of the Amalfi coast. We then ended up in a kitchen (with an unbelievable scenic view) where we were taught to cook a fantastic lunch including appetizers, an entrée and dessert. The lemon beer and wine was superb and everyone had a great time! Francesco is a knowledgeable tour guide, a very talented chef (and an all-around nice guy!) All of this was done with the beautiful scenic background of the Amalfi coast. This was truly one of the highlights of our trip to the Amalfi coast!

This was a truly unique and enjoyable experience for me and my husband. We learned so much and had a wonderful time cooking an entire meal, from appetizer, to entree and dessert. We picked local herbs to cook with and learned a great deal about the history of the local area. We highly recommend!

This cooking class was an experience worth doing whilst in Italy. It started with a short walk around Praiano, which gave you taste into the history of the town. We had Francesco and he was amazing. Afterwards you are taken to a beautiful rooftop restaurant with an amazing view for your cooking class. The cooking class was perfect. Amazing view, beautiful music, it was secluded. You were able to cook each meal - entre, main and desert and then sit to eat each meal, enjoy the view and have a glass of wine. Francesco was great, he prepared everything beautifully and the service provided was 5-star.

An absolutely wonderful experience which we will never forget. The walking tour around Praiano was superb, learning about the history and traditions of the Amalfi Coast. The setting at the hotel rooftop where we cooked was also breathtaking and a fantastic and fun experience. Our guide Giacomo was so accommodating and friendly and a pleasure to spend the day with. A must when visiting Amalfi.

We have been to Amalfi many many times over the years & were looking for something different to do.
This experience was unique, very informative & we learnt to cook some really delicious dishes.
Giacomo is very passionate about teaching people about the local forage, loved every minute of it.
The walking was not difficult at all and we learned so much about herbs that we never knew prior to this experience!
Highly recommend.

Our walking tour and cooking class was our favorite excursion from our 2 week honeymoon in Italy. Francesco was fantastic. He took us on a picturesque walking tour of Praiano before neding at a gorgeous hotel kitchen overlooking the Gulf of Salerno. We created a three course lunch, while enjoying various prosecco, beers and wines. This meal was one of the best meals from our entire vacation, as well. We would do this again in a heart beat.
