    Interesting and Worth a Visit.
We added this to our other Orvietto underground tours, they are all different and we enjoyed this one very much.It is self guided which suits us and there were plenty of information points explaining the history ect along the way (in english) Only 2.50 Euro reduced entry (65+) which is very reasonable There were stairs but nothing strenuous .The gift shop at the end sells lovely hand made pottery and other items.Good to add to your Orvietto experience

Decent add-on to the Orvieto Underground
Tickets for the Orvieto Underground entitle you to a cheaper entrance for the Pozzo della Cava. We came across it by accident so decided to go in. It's small, probably 15 minutes altogether to see it but there are severeal interesting things to see. I'm not sure I would have wanted to pay the full price, though.

    A must-visit in Orvieto
An impressive well dug in the XVI century to guarantee a supply of water to its citizens all year round.

    Interesting and easy to access
This cave was well-organised with a clear route for visitors with basic information in Italian, English, French and German. It was interesting but I would have liked more detailed information on individual sections and the history of the place as a whole - how did it function within the town?

    Amazing place
Little out of the way in a back alley but worth going to see. Very interesting and to think this is all underneath the city, If you take your ticket you can get discounts on another attraction. Family owned but so very professional and fasinating.

A must if you are intrigued by the caves
Way off the beaten track, but find this place. It is included with the Una Carta, even though it’s privately owned and operated. The owner was there when we visited and he is very proud of his caves, and rightly so. All displays are represented in 4 languages.

    Interesting site
We did Underground Orvieta and this tour. They are very different and would recommend this one if you have time for only one. You do the tour yourself, and the explanations are very comprehensive at each stop. The site covers the whole history of Orvieto from Etruscan to the 19th century. It is not in the center of town, so it can be a bit of a walk, depending where you are coming from, but it is very near the elevators and escalators. We took the bus from the funicular.

    very interesting
We had already done the Underground Orvieta tour but found this one very interesting as well. Visitors here are allowed to wander at their own pace; there are clear detailed descriptions all along the way. The well has obviously been well studied with seemingly accurate explanations of the workings of the Etruscan inhabitants. The depth of the excavation is surprising. One hour is probably adequate but there is also a well-stocked book and gift shop to explore.

Great look at pre-Roman to modern history
This cave has been inhabited since Etruscan times, and the exhibits trace its history through the medieval era. I did the self-guided tour which was easy because of the excellent signage in several languages. It is well organized and the stairs are wide and study so walking was no problem. Allow about 30 minutes if you are a fast reader, but an hour would not be too long.

    Very Interesting
We visited Il Pozzo della Cava in May 2018. It’s a network of caves which date back to the time of the Etruscans and at least one well (Il Pozzo della Cava) which is the main attraction, it’s a 36-meter-deep well which dates back to around the sixteenth century. The entry for the self-guided tour is about 4 euro per person, but there are other options available, including a guided tour or tours which include a wine tasting or meal. We took the self-guided tour and found it to be very nice and informative, each area has signs in several languages with all the pertinent historical information.

    Very Interesting!
This place is privately owned, and though there are hundreds of these caves under the city, this is one of only two opportunities I found to experience them. The family who owns this one have done an excellent job of showing how the caves were used during various periods of the city’s history. The signage is very good, and is presented in several languages. I highly recommend a visit!

    A Wonderful Surprise!
Having been to Orvieto multiple times over the years I always passed up this little gem. This March I decided to explore. I was surprised at how interesting and very well-explained the caves, well and their uses was displayed. The older gentleman who greeted me was very engaging, and I was able to walk through at my own pace. The fact that they used to make pottery here was surprising, and seeing the remnants of beautiful pieces was wonderful. They are now re-creating these lovely pieces and sell them. I would highly recommend a visit to be surprised at what you will find here.

    Worth the time to visit
We had already done the Orvieto Underground tour and were wanting to know more about life below ground using the caves. We stumbled on this site and paid the 4 euro ticket to take the 45 minute self guided tour thru the site. We could tell the family who owned the property had put in the money, time, and effort to research their findings. Artifacts at the site made this attraction more relatable. We wished later that we had taken time for a snack at the little cafe when we finished.

The Best Cave Tour in Orvieto
This was so cool & we just discovered it roaming the city. Super magic. An eccentric man runs the place and his infectious charm drew us in. There was no one else there so we could wander the caves as long as we wanted. There were also some great educational displays that lay out the more technical Etruscan tools and technology.

Oooof! The line was so long to get tickets to the Orvieto Underground and to secure a place in the obligatory tour. But after doing both of these sites, I would definitely opt for the Pozzo della Cava instead. Yes, we learned different things in the underground tour and it was good, but I didn't love clamoring for a place in the tour...and it was only April (not summer).

I will say that if you are staying two days in Orvieto, the Carta Unica is worth it. Buy it at the train station and it will pay for the funicular ride, bus rides and all sites worth seeing. And, no need to stand in line (except at the Pozzo di San Patrizio, where you have to show your CU to get the ticket that allows you in the PdSP).

Short but interesting tour of ancient well and surrounding caves dug by early Etruscan’s. Self-guided tour with descriptions at each stop in multiple languages.

We had very little time to view the underground and this tour was perfect! We went at our own pace and learned a lot about the Etruscans but the neatest part was the little old couple that runs the place! He is just adorable and will bring you to flooring that has plexiglass where you can jump on it but also view the cave from his little restaurant/gift shop. We had a blast I would recommend this to our friends.

We actually took the underground cave experience that you purchase near the Duomo first and then had time for this one. Wow! We found it so interesting that there are so many caves in Orvieto and that they belong to the buildings owner that is above them. The first tour gives you more history on the caves overall, whereas this one only presents it’s history. They provide such detailed information and many artifacts to view. This one far exceeded the first cave tour. It was much more extensive with good lighting and excellent explanations in (I believe) four languages.
Entry was 4 Euros and you tour at your leisure.

They provide nice bathrooms and have a restaurant above, but we had already eaten. Be sure to go in the restaurant and look through the viewing window in the floor to the cave below.

We would highly recommend this tour even if your just on a day trip to Orvieto as we were. You won’t be disappointed.

This was 1 minute walking from our AirBnB and so became the first stop in Orvieto. It's a short but interesting introduction to the city—when we visited we were the only visitors. The highlight for us was the gift shop, which has very cool local pottery painted to model medieval designs and a lovely, elderly attendant who transcended our language barrier with some endearing humor.

This was an easy 20 minute walk from the Duomo. The walk itself was also lovely as I saw a part of Orvieto I hadn't seen before. It was very charming.
The Pozzo della Cava is privately owned and the owners have provided an amazing place to visit. It is well lit, well laid out and plenty of useful information , (also in English).
It is also cool which was a welcome respite from the heat of the day.
The Pozzo is breath taking to look down. It's quite a an amazing feat.
On display there are various examples of pottery that were created in the time that parts of basement were used as a kiln.
At the end of the tour there's a lovely outside space where you can sit. There's also a bar where you can get refreshments and also is a small shop
I would really recommend visting here.
