About
Roberto knows his pigs one by one; they are raised in a semi-wild state, with carefully selected feed and cereals grown in the Tuscan countryside. The experience is as rural as it is unforgettable; after a walk through the vineyards and the olive grove, you will have the opportunity to interact with "Ciro", the domestic pig, and to meet all his company of Cinta Senese pigs having fun in the mud. after meeting these cute animals (and maybe even taking some selfies with them), it will be time to delight your palate with a tasting platter of Cinta Senese cured meats or a quick lunch based on agricultural products, perhaps collected directly in the garden from you.

We stumbled upon this place by chance through a recommendation through our host. While we hesitated at first , we went ahead with the visit. We were warmly welcomed by Roberto to his family farm where the priced black Tuscan pigs are raised in a hygienic and harmonious environment. His dried local meats and sausages are cured on site and he offers the most tantalising tasting lunch where the guests are served with his own wines, olive oil, spreads and of course his own cured meats. It is a wonderful experience we will repeat where we had the chance to taste some of the best local delicacies. It is far better than a tasting platter that one can order at any restaurant. And we have travelled to many places and have dined in many restaurants! We highly recommend this place.

We went here with 3 couples and thoroughly enjoyed it. Roberto and his family are so warm and welcoming. Roberto is learning English at an amazing pace and speaks well now - you do. Lot need to worry if you don’t speak Italian or don’t have a guide…. You will communicate easily. Roberto have us a tour of the farm and the history of the property and it’s history - and of course the pigs! They were cute and fun to see. We also got a sense of how the curing is done and then had a great lunch sampling some of the “product”!

We loved this but if you are traveling with kids who are “duomo/museumed” out….. this stop is even better.

Personal experience. Beautiful farm. Roberto has his own plum trees for jam, they have vines to small batches of wine, and of course we met his special pigs and learned a lot their history in Tuscany :)

We had more types of pork than I can remember… prosciutto, capicola, sausage, lard, rolled bacon. Very delicious. Served with generous portions of their home made wine.

Roberto gave us a great tour, was very welcoming, texted us to make sure we could find his farm, and let us stay for much longer than the scheduled time.

Definitely recommend as a nice, fun break from the wine cellars to round out your Montepulciano trip.

Thank you Roberto!!

This was so much fun, the kind of experiences you regularly see on TV. Roberto was patient with our 7 year old, hilarious with us and obviously loves the Cinta Sienese pigs on his farm. First up is a tour of the grounds meeting and feeding the pigs, learning how they are raised and cared for.

Next up was the food, some of the best charcuterie I’ve tasted overlooking the beautiful Tuscan valley. Roberto allows you to take your time enjoying the fruits of his labor. Highly recommend!

What a treat! We have been enjoying prosciutto in Tuscany but being able to go the farm, experience the animals, see how it is all done, was such a beautiful experience! Roberto treated us with kindness and patience, fielding the gap with my lack of the Italian language. The best part was the tasting. I have a new appreciation for this timeless art. Grazie Mille!

My 2 sons in universities needed an break during Easter holiday so we opted to stay in one of those dainty towns in Val d'Orcia, region of Tuscany, Montepulciano. And as I did not drink wine, I suggested to visit this tour of a pig farm with good reviews.
It turned out a very interesting and uncommon tour for us as we don't have professional tours of pig farms in our country.
Roberto, the owner, greeted us from the start and explained about his olive plantation and pig farm. Ciro, the star of the farm, had retired and was so cute lazily sleeping in his comfortable muddy spot.
The lunch was a traditional, delicious yet simple one, with products of the Cinta Senese pigs of his farm, a special type of pig from this region, as well as some other by products. And Roberto was always thorough in explaining about everything going on.
Definitely a must go when in the area Montepulciano!
Thank you, Roberto and Cinta Senese farm.

Our farm tour and tasting lunch were a highlight of our Italian adventure. Roberto was a wonderful host. He explained the process of raising pigs and curing the meats as well as growing and producing wine and olive oil. He answered all our questions and let us meet Ciro, Gino, Runt and his mama pigs. His meats and wine were absolutely delicious as was his wife's traditional Tuscan soup. Now we're huge Facebook fans. Don't miss this delightful opportunity.

🐖🐽🐷CINTA SENESE PIG FARM TOUR🐷🐽🐖
Phil and I spent today at the most AH-mazing authentic Tuscan experience in Montepulciano called Fattoria Madonna della Querce.
Roberto and his gracious wife, along with his father-in-law run this charming Fattoria where they breed and care for the most incredible animals. The CINTA SENESE Pig.
Cinta Senese is an antique breed of Italian pig that gets its name from it’s region of origin, the hills surrounding Siena. They have been bred since Roman times. The name "cinta" (belt in English) comes from the peculiarity of this pig of having a pink belt around its chest, while the rest of the body remains dark coloured.
After a lovely walk thru the olive groves to a brief history of Roberto’s family and farm we come to the area where we meet the famous CIRO, the 300kg dad to all of the pigs on the farm. He was very content laying in the mud but did not mind getting up for a quick photo op… We moved on to the adolescent piglets where we fed them some fresh plums growing on a tree nearby. We continued the tour walking through the rest of the farm where the older pigs enjoyed mud baths, playing with us and the hose for some water fun, basking in the sun and trying their hardest to get to the sunflowers for a little snack.
After the tour we sat at a lovely table under an umbrella on a beautiful deck overlooking this entire scene.
The second half of the afternoon was enjoying multiple courses of the most mouthwatering meats including Salumi, Lardo, Salsiccia, Loin, Capocollo, Guanciale, Pancetta and Prosciutto; along with local Percorino from Pienza; Homemade Crostini with mixed local spreads including my favorite “Patè di fegato di pollo”; A delicious Summery Panzanella salad made with ingredients from their vegetable garden growing a few feet away.
And then… When there was no room left. We had homemade Vin Santo with my absolute favorite Almond Cantucci.
We are thrilled to have spent the day at this magical farm in Montepulciano. Roberto, his wife and his father-in-law
are truly passionate and are incredible teachers to give us a glimpse into the world of taking care of and making sure that this almost extinct breed of pig continues on happily in it’s homeland.
Grazie Mille Roberto for the invitation…

Roberto, the owner of the farm, and his wife are so hospitable! My friend and I enjoyed very much the walk around their lovely farm with the olive trees and vineyards, learning about what they produce and meeting the pigs (especially the famous Ciro! Highly recommend taking this little trip just outside Montepulciano for a glimpse into the real farm life. Grazie mille Roberto!
