My wife and I recently took the Wine Tour Ebike Experience from Urban Bikery in Montepulciano. In a word, it was a “blast”. The helpful staff at Urban Bikery imported a itinerary map into our cell phones, gave us a thorough explanation on how to operate the ebikes, adjusted the seats and sent us on our way. The ebikes had wide 4" tires that provided sufficient stability to calm even this 71 year old’s nerves. Urban Bikery set up tasting appointments with two small-production family wineries. Both wineries gave us tours of the vineyards, the destemming/crushing area, the fermentation rooms, and the bottling area. I learned more about winemaking than I had in many previous tastings. The wines were so good that we had some shipped to the USA.
I highly recommend this experience to anyone that wants to zip through the beautiful Tuscan countryside visiting rustic wineries on quiet roads. Although Urban Bikery schedules two winery tours, the mapped route offers the opportunity to visit six or seven additional wineries

It doesn't get better than this. Michele was extremely nice and very accommodating. We had signed up for the wine bike tour and light lunch. We needed one vegetarian option but the second winery where we were scheduled for lunch didn't offer one. This wasn't an issue as Michele rearranged it so we ate at the first place and did a different winery for the second place. The food was great and the new second winery was exactly what we were hoping for. Very nice and hospitable staff that took extra time for us to answer questions and show us around, even though we got there about 15 minutes late. We never felt rushed or pressured and only felt very welcomed. The wine was great too.
Having a data plan for your cell phone is highly recommended. You could potentially do this without if you map it all in advance at the shop and are good with directions. The app is a web page that shows the wineries and then links to Google maps and this worked fine for us.
E-bike is a must. The bikes themselves were great and of course it's very hilly in this area. You're on gravel roads most of the way to the wineries and then mostly paved on the way back. My wife is very athletic (multiple marathons, multiple iron man's) and she was glad to have this on the return.
All in all we would do this again.

We had a great experience with Rebecca, our tour guide. She was very patient with us while we became more comfortable riding, when we wanted to stop to take photos, or when one of us (me!) had trouble getting up the hill.
Our group of four was my husband and me (early 60s), and our daughter and her boyfriend (mid 20s).
We enjoyed our visit to the first winery, at which the guide there was very thorough and we enjoyed all the wines.
Our next stop was at an organic farm where we had a very tasty lunch in a picturesque setting.
The ride was never on roads with much traffic, but they were very hilly and more than half were gravel. Some of the gravel roads were very bumpy, and to be honest, a little unsettling to go down. Rebecca was very patient with all of us.
At the end, I did have too much trouble getting up one of the last hills and just couldn’t make it. Rebecca was not hesitant to call for the van to come pick me up, and they were very gracious about it! I’m in pretty good shape, but it was extremely hot, and I wasn’t always using the correct gear up all the hills. Not at all the responsibility of Urban Bikery, but something for you to consider if it might be an issue for you.
I would highly recommend them!

The crew that got us setup with our bikes were nice and friendly but there were issues with our GPS. I thought the bikes would be equipped with GPS - no you have to download the app and we had issues with goggle maps previously in the area. The other issue is we booked for 5 tastings at 5 vineyards and the day we arrived where told it would only be three. In addition, it’s poorly arranged. Due to the number of people at our first tasting, we were delayed arriving at our second. I texted the company about our delay and was told someone will be waiting for us. Nope, no one was there and we were told to proceed to our last tasting. So it went from 5 tastings to 3 to 2. That was the whole idea, to explore different vineyards. Very disappointing.

Hi Elizabeth, as we have already told you we are sorry that something went wrong with your tour.
There are 2 tastings and not 5 of course it is well specified in the product sheet both on our website and on the booking portal.
5 wineries in which to do bicycle tastings are frankly difficult to imagine.
We equip our thousands of customers with our GPS App that can be used on their smartphone to follow the routes and reach the previously booked cellars.
I understand that it can happen that you are not practical in handling a smartphone but nowadays it is really an exception.
As for the wineries, although we are not directly responsible for the difficulties encountered, we apologize if there were any delays.
P.s: I want to clarify, because you have not written it, that we have promptly refunded the cost of the experience.

We are very glad that we booked this e-bike wine tasting tour, because this was one of the most interesting and beatiful things that we did during our Tuscany trip. We have visited two wineries (Salcheto and Canneto) and tasted very good wines, mainly in Canneto where Daniella guided the tasting and showed us the wine cellar. We were very satisfied with it and I believe Canneto is worth visiting with or without the bikes.
The guys at Urban Bikery were very welcoming and answered all our questions before the trip started. Everything worked perfectly and we got a cold beer when we returned the bikes! Thanks!

This would be a 5 star review bar one experience. UrbanBikery were absolutely excellent. The guys in there were so courteous, friendly and explained everything to us clearly and patiently. They even gave us a return beer. Our first stop on the wine tour was Il Monlinaccio with Alessandro was an amazing experience; set in a beautiful farm where he explained all his delicious wines in detail and treated us like friends. 5 stars for both and the cycle itself was beautiful. Unfortunately our last stop at Aziendo Agricola Canneto was very disappointing; the service was just bad; unwelcoming, extremely slow, forgetful and it just felt like they didn't want us to be there. Although the views were amazing, the place itself lacked the charm of the previous vinyard and again the service impacted that experience. Urbanbikery, the cycle itself and Monlinaccio 5 stars! However if there's a way to change the stop at Canneto, I would!

Georgio met us on time to delivery the bikes and explained everything very well. The app was easy to use too! We set out for the day and made our way to Montecchiello where we had a super lunch at Osteria La Porta. The back roads were a little rough it the scenery was amazing. We stopped and walked the vineyards alongside the roads, picked plums from the fruit trees and truly soaked up all the beauty. We would recommend that folks have some experience with mountain biking … it’s not the same as street bikes and with the off road trails and hills, some challenges exit. But great day! Thanks for all your help and patience for our bike return. Note to others … let them pick up your bikes versus returning them to montepulciano … it’s a very steep climb up!

This was the best wine tour experience ever! We toured the Tuscany countryside and visiting 3 beautiful wineries. IT was a great way to have an authentic Tuscan day with no crowds.
We had a private tour of the first winery with the owner in his beautiful fields and learned about his unique history and environmental approach to growing his grapes. The wine and food was fantastic- It was magical! The e-Bikes are amazing and made the hill climbing so easy and effortless! The whole group was able to keep up and stay together regardless of ability. Michele, the owner of Urban Bikery was so helpful and friendly. He told us everything we needed to know and outfitted us with all the equipment necessary. I highly recommend this tour!

Absolutely wonderful day in Tuscany thanks to the helpful staff at Urban Bikery. We were provided with the necessary gear and travel route that was exactly what we were looking for. The e-bikes worked very well and made climbing the Tuscan hills a bit easier. The staff was super friendly and even stayed open a bit longer to await our arrival. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately we had to cancel as it was storming the day we booked. It was well beyond the 24 hour cancellation time and they still fully refunded us. They were helpful and excellent at communicating. Next time we go to montepulciano we will book with them again for sure. Lovely people.
