About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- carolinetD3411HU0 contributionsAmazing!!This was my first ever private cooking experience with my best friend. We immediately felt so warm and welcomed in Fulvio’s home. The view from his terrace was amazing and his house was welcoming. He gave us some history of the area and Italy itself which paired well with the cooking. The meals were to die for. A once in a lifetime experience! Will absolutely be booking again the next time I go back :)Written September 21, 2024
- Darwinmatt0 contributionsAmazing from start to finishWow! We had such an amazing experience. This was very much a highlight of our trip to Catania and is a must for anyone who wants to try something new, something different or something that is just so memorable. The team at Ceramiche De Simone are not just experts and great teachers they also are lovely people to spend time with. They went above and beyond to make the 3 hour visit so incredible. Thank you!Written August 27, 2024
- nicktY4487UT0 contributionsReal Palermo with a real chef! This is review is written for my sister who is computer challenged so I'm writing the review for her. My sister, her daughter, a cousin and her daughter traveled to Palermo and a day with Fulvio was one of their most memorable experiences. The food market tour was excellent: fun times spent picking out fresh produce and seafood to cook later that day with primo chef Fulvio! All dishes were delicious, but the most fun was cooking, drinking and generally enjoying time with the effervescent Fulvio. ONE HUNDRED percent recommend this experience, you will not be disappointed. Ciao!Written June 15, 2024
- Susan and David P0 contributionsA Meal to RememberWe spent a delightful evening helping to prepare a traditional Sicilian dinner with Fulvio, who is a wonderful ambassador of Sicilian culture. The prosecco and conversation were flowing, and the meal was outstanding. Tuna, in season, was seasoned with fresh garlic and mint. It was beyond tender and flavorful. We learned how to make passata using oh-so-fresh tomatoes, and more. We knew about Fulvio’s tours from our travel mates who had been with him on a previous trip. This says it all—retuning, happy, satisfied guests! We were welcomed to Fulvio’s beautiful home with fabulous views, and as this was our last night in Palermo, it made it even more special. A memory to last forever!Written May 30, 2024

- gaylynnew20220 contributionsAuthentic cooking! My experience with Fulvio and the cooking class was more than I had expected! I loved going into the market and seeing how he bought food what was available. Everything was fresh from the market that we cooked and ate. Definitely a highlight of my stay in Palermo.Written February 3, 2024
- paulaJ7979II0 contributionsChef Guide NEVER Showed. Operator Failed to Rectify.I booked this course for 5 people (through Travelocity, not TripAdvisor - but the local operator was the same; Curioseety Sicily; so it is the same course). I booked 11 days in advance and it was confirmed. We showed up at the appointed time and place, and the chef never showed up. We were finally able to contact the operator by email (they did not answer the phone), and got the response "Sorry but we completely forgot about this Booking. I can check for tomorrow or refund you now I am really sorry but we have some issue with the manager of the bookings." I told them that we were not available on an alternate day and that we had driven here for this course and that they should figure out how to arrange a course today. Some time later I got the message "Sorry Paul i have to cancel and refund you then. I m really sorry i did not see the Booking. And the chef today Is not in town." Needless to say, getting the money back was hardly the point. We were looking forward to the class, and now we would completely miss out. We also wasted a day of our vacation driving to the class location. I was especially sad for our friends who we had invited. BEWARE THIS OPERATOR - CURIOSEETY SICILY, and also Travelocity who confirmed the tickets without actually assuring that the operator followed through, and when I contacted Travelocity about the problem they never responded.Written November 21, 2023
- 902zuziaz0 contributionsOne of the nicest date ideas in Catania! We loved learning about the process and taking part in it both by making our own clay vessels as well as painting! We get to keep all of the things we made and Giovanni was an amazing teacher and friend!Written September 22, 2023
- christinebV9186AR0 contributionsA "must do" experience if in Palermo! My favorite part was seeing my adult children helping to cook the meal! It was fantastic to see how simple each recipe was and how easy it would be to recreate these delicious foods at home. It was our first full day in Sicily and it was beyond fantastic! Fulvio is so much fun and so welcoming. The views from his kitchen balcony were incredible and the memories made will last forever. The whole experience was above and beyond all my expectations. The food market tour was the best because it was very local and authentic, unlike the bigger markets we saw along the rest of our vacation. It was a peek into authentic Sicilian life. Fulvio's passion for cooking, entertaining and the Sicilian way of life was palpable. If in Palermo this is a "must do" experience!Written July 9, 2023
- edmarie20160 contributionsCanceled at the last minuteThey never showed up! I had to call several times to see where the tour guide was. When someone finally answered, they told me the tour was canceled. This company is not reliableWritten June 30, 2023
- Angela2170 contributionsFascinating insights, fabulous food! This tour was really excellent. We met Roberto at the Cathedral steps in Ortigia and he gave us a fascinating introduction to the town's history and culture. The tour was tailored to suit the clients and we found him an extremely good communicator. We heard interesting and illuminating stories about the various eras of the town, visited the Jewish Quarter and looked inside the caves and tunnels where the people sheltered doing WWII bombing. Then Roberto took us to the market which was full of wonderful sights, sounds and scents. We had a delicious cafe lunch tasting some of the specialities Roberto selected for us near the sea wall amongst a crowd of locals and visitors. This was followed by coffee, cannoli and gelato. It was a fabulous 3 hours and a highlight of our visit to Syracuse.Written June 8, 2023
- samara0210 contributionsAMAZING experienceMeeting Fulvio was the best part of our Palermo experience. I can’t thank him enough for such a beautiful time, listening to great music and make delicious food. Fulvio is an extraordinary person with a beautiful personality. A master at his craft, everything he made was made with love. If you have the chance to meet him and have opportunity to cook with him , you should! Thank you a million Fulvio, hope to meet you againWritten November 16, 2022
- Z465VWsebastians0 contributionsAmazing experienceFulvio welcomed us with open arms and showed us the best food the city of Palermo has to offer. He gave us a great tour around the city and also did a cooking class for us that left us real full 😋 I appreciated the hospitality Fulvio has to offer and would definitely recommend anyone who stops in Palermo to take a tour with him as it is a great experience!!Written November 16, 2022
- Catherine B0 contributionsWorth every penny. Mommy daughter trip.Amazing! Worth the trip. I just took my daughter and with it being the two of it it was a laid back experience. It was so neat to see their process and learn more about pottery. Both myself and my daughter(age7) have used a pottery wheel before which I think helped smooth things along. The staff was welcoming and helpful. 100% recommend for a small group (under 3 people). It is in their working factory and it can cause disruptions with a large group. Especially I the smaller spaces and risk of breaking.Written November 3, 2022
- jennifer w0 contributionsDo this tour!Highly recommend Roberto! He has lived his entire life in Siracusa and is well-versed in the history, nooks and crannies of the location, and current culture. Along the tour many of the locals said hello. Lots of history on this street food tour. Ended at the market where we had lunch at a local sandwich shop that makes their own mozzarella, and cures their own meat. It was fantastic. Highly recommend!Written September 29, 2022

Very unhappy - got a message a couple of hours after booking to say that the tour was cancelled. Yet the payment was not immediately annulled and I am still awaiting my refund. What's more, the tour was still showing as available for booking the following morning, the very day it was intended to take place!
