Itinerary
- Piazzetta Arco di Trionfo, 73100 Lecce LE, ItalyFront Porta Napoli
- 1The Lecce tour includes the Roman amphitheater from the 2nd century BC. near Piazza Sant’Oronzo, once able to hold more than 25,000 people, it is now half-buried by the monuments that have been built on it over the centuries. Go to the column that supports the statue of the patron saint of Lecce, Sant’Oronzo, donated by the city of Brindisi due to the role that Sant’Oronzo is supposed to have played in curing the city from the plague. Once part of a couple, it marked the end of the legendary Via Appia, the road that connected Rome to southern Italy
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- WanderingJane44970 contributionsTuk Tuk Your Way Around Matera!I would recommend using this service, especially if you have difficulty walking. Made my life so much easier and our guide, Andrea, was kind, informative and made sure we saw all the key sights. Matera involves quite a bit of walking and on a hot day, it can become arduous. Tuk Tuks are a great solution...and fun!Written September 6, 2024
- Q5071WUkylieb0 contributionsFascinating insight into the history of Matera … well worth it !Well worth doing the guided tour… you learn so much about the history and things that you would walk past without realising what you are seeing. A must do in Matera!Written September 3, 2024
- gianlucad6980 contributionsVery useful to really understand MateraIt was really good, the tour included a visit to a church, with local testimonies to help better understand the history, and an old original house. The guide was easy to follow, on foot and by listening.Written August 18, 2024

- gigiandme0 contributionsMatera Sassi Guided tour 🙌Fascinating tour - I cannot believe I wasn’t aware of the Matera Sassi history before now. Our group wasn’t huge which was a bonus - 8 of us. Our guide Giuseppe was so informative. Loved every minute.Written July 23, 2024

- 747guidab0 contributionsDon’t Miss the Tuk Tuk in MateraWe had a wonderful time with our tour operator Francesco! He used a translator to tell us interesting parts, and he used a pre-recorded audio narration to tell us the basics.Written July 13, 2024
- Paula C0 contributionsOvercharged for Tour Tickets: Disappointing Experience with Martulli ViaggiI recently visited Martulli Viaggi to book a tour of Matera. I didn't question the price at the time, but later discovered that the advertised online price was €25 less per ticket. When I questioned this, I was told it was because the tour was in English. However, I met other tourists who paid the cheaper price. This discrepancy has left a sour taste in my mouth.Written July 9, 2024
- Albia-Newton0 contributionsThis is a must see sightThe crypt is phenomenal Do pre book your tickets via the website The visit to the crypt is short -30 minutes to prevent humidity damage to the decorative work in the crypt There is an audio guide in English availableWritten July 7, 2024
- Travelmania123450 contributionsMesmerizing tour of Uffizi GalleryThe Uffizi Gallery was absolutely stunning but what made it an unforgettable experience for us was our guide Galya. She provided excellent focused information which helped us to truly appreciate the many masterpieces in the collection. Even our 10 year old granddaughter was mesmerized because of the way Galya explained the art and the artist. Collection of the ticket and meeting the guide was also extremely smooth. Highly recommend.Written June 27, 2024

- Doll670 contributionsExcellent tour!We had an excellent small group walking tour with Pala. Her knowledge was excellent and was so interesting to hear her personal story about her parents being evicted from the Sassi in the 1950s.Written May 22, 2024
- KV12340 contributionsGoing through the motions and lacking the usual Italian charmWe are unsure why the reviews on Tripadvisor for this tour are so positive. We arrived at the tour offices in town at the appointed time. There was another couple waiting and a man behind the desk. We explained that we had booked the tour. There was no real interaction or conversation from the man who got up and said we were going to the car. As it transpired, he was the driver. During the short trip (approx. 20 mins) to the site he didn’t say a word. We got out of the car at the site and he led us down some stairs to the entrance, without saying anything. At this point we had no clue what was going on. After waiting about 5 minutes, more people arrived and so did the guide. Although the guide spoke both English and Italian, he didn’t actually provide any commentary or explanation of the crypt. He simply turned on an Italian pre-recorded audio guide and provided small electronic audio guides with earphones to the non-Italian speakers so we could listen in English. The ‘tour’ consisted of sitting on the rocks in the cave listening to a pre-recorded audio guide. The actual guide did answer a few questions at the end. The whole experience lasted about 30 minutes. The crypt is definitely worth seeing but the tour is certainly not worth the money (EUR 135.00). No photos are allowed to be taken inside the crypt. We found the experience impersonal and out of character with the warm Italian welcome and friendliness we normally find. The guide and driver were really just going through the motions. It should be noted that you are required to pay for 3 people as a minimum number. Despite there being another couple on the tour we did not get any refund so can only assume they also paid for 3 people. A nice profit for the tour company. Try another tour company if you want to visit the crypt.Written May 14, 2024
- Marf136690 contributionsNature has returned a quarry to its natural beautyWhen the bauxite quarry was abandoned, nature took over and created an emerald-colored lake which is captivating by its beauty. The cave itself contains dark red rocky walls colored by the aluminum minerals in the Bauxite rock. The trails remind one of walking on mars due to its red sand dunes.Written May 14, 2024
