Bomarzo Sacro Bosco and Viterbo 6 people

By Terra di Tuscia Travel
About
Bomarzo has a unique work in the world, the Villa of Wonders, also called Sacro Bosco, called the Monster Park with refined gardens, fountains with water games and sculptures. The prince of Bomarzo dedicated himself to the creation of an eccentric "grove" by sculpting enigmatic figures of monsters, dragons, mythological subjects and exotic animals in the boulders of peperino, emerging from the ground, which he alternated with a leaning house, a funeral temple, fountains , seats and obelisks on which he made mottoes and inscriptions engraved. The Sacro Bosco, not respecting the sixteenth century customs, presents itself as an irregular solution. The medieval city of Viterbo preserves a historical heritage to say the least spectacular; its medieval district of San Pellegrino is defined as the largest in Europe. There are numerous churches, the Papal Palace, the city wall that embraces the city and the numerous towers and squares. The gastronomy smells of herbs, local oil and typical products

      I gave two points:
      1/5: It's convenient to get there and the parking is well organized;
      2/5 the entrance structure is well done, the services and the bar are quite good;
      And here I stop. The park is underdeveloped, the statues are beautiful but the management is terrible. There are no bins in the park, the path is not maintained by any cleaning service so if someone, uncivilized, throws something on the ground it will stay there, almost forever.
      There isn't even an explanation of the statues or the park itself. For €13 I expected more. There are two things: you could consider adjusting the price, they are a bit high for the service provided, or at this price you could put one or two people who go around cleaning up the park.
      Sorry, I had high expectations given the way they talk about it. :(

      It is a fantastic place, a noble park enriched with statues representing ogres, elephants, dragons, etc..... which capture the visitor's attention, indeed, thanks to the map provided by the reception, it is nice to go and discover. It is a place equipped with games for children, bathrooms, refreshments, parking and a picnic area. We enjoyed the place because we arrived early and the day was a bit gray, so there were very few people. The maximum price could be €10. instead of €13., given that we only stayed a couple of hours and not the whole day. Recommended for those who love walking among greenery, so wear comfortable clothing and if it's hot, a bottle of water.

      16th Century Renaissance garden! One of a kind “ante litteram” amusement park! Just for history and art lovers! Children are mesmerized by ginormous stone sculptures that recall mitology stories!

      I visited the Bomarzo Forest on August 15th and my first impression was of a tourist trap. Ticket cost €13.00, as if I were at the Uffizi. The most disconcerting things were the total lack of any table to indicate a path logic or even a staff to turn to; worse still is that throughout the park we did not find any type of safety, such as handrails or similar, keeping in mind the rough paths of the park itself. The luck of that day was that no one had any accidents, but on the other hand there were many complaints.
