About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- JMK83830 contributionsBad experience with @mytours.it or My Tour in Italy. The drive from Florence to the vineyard was (should have been) 30-40 minutes. Instead, they took us 20-25 minutes past the vineyard to get other customers. An extra 45 minutes. Same thing happened on the return trip. We missed the sunset and the tour was rushed. On the way home, we arrived about 30 minutes late due to the the roundabout travel route and the driver shook us down for an extra $100 from the entire bus to take us to center of Florence, near El Duomo, instead of an outside the city train depot (at around 1230 am on a Sunday night). They didn't acknowledge they were short a driver (the driver said they were) and they made no effort to make amends. We realize sh*t happens, but these guys didn't admit it, acknowledge it or apologize it. I would say - stay away from the Tour Operator.Written December 10, 2024
- Mobile492919174980 contributionsWonderful place to spend a dayDo not miss this place. It and the Bardini gardens nearby are wonderful. Pitti has a huge art collection, a large and interesting display of costumes through the ages, and some bedrooms on display. If you are lucky you might get on a guided kitchen tour!Written December 5, 2024
- 90miriams0 contributionsGloria was amazing!Gloria was just so lovely great!!!! She walked us through not only the cathedral but also Florence history so well, she explained such an historic dense city so easily that only makes you want to come back. Offered tips on key places to visits, we did and we cannot thank her enough for her recommendations and for the Florence knowledge shared. Big fans of Gloria!!!Written December 2, 2024
- 735MichaelK0 contributionsAnn unmissable day out, stunning rooms and artThe Pitti Palace was commissioned in 1440 by the banker Luca Pitti in an attempt to outdo the Medici family; but his luck changed and the family had to sell it to them in 1549. They initiated major expansion works, lavishly decorating the rooms and creating what are now the Bobboli Gardens. With the death of the last Medici Grand Duke in 1737, the Habsburg-Lorraines took over and lived in the palace until 1860. King Vittorio Emmanuel I briefly lived here from 1865-71. The Palatine Gallery was opened to the public in 1874 and the palace was donated to the state in 1919. To my mind, the building has a functional, depressing outward façade, like a prison, deliberately hiding views of the gardens behind. But the extensive interiors are a real treasure-house. The visit is equivalent to 6 separate attractions, and in many ways, more absorbing than the Uffizi. The Palatine Gallery is housed in a luxurious suite of rooms, filled with artworks, largely by Tuscan or wider Italian painters; Tintoretto, Raphael, Murillo, Gentileschi, Lippi, Titian, Caravaggio and more. The fun is finding them tucked away among the others, and guessing what the subject is. These rooms are enjoyable for the decoration alone. For me, the Ark Room was the most impressive, with its simulation of a large tent and action going on around you – fresco, trompe a l’oeil and marbling combined. The Royal Apartments were unfortunately closed, but there’s still the Museum of Fashion and Costume, the Modern Art Collection, and the State Rooms. In the latter, trompe a l’oeil is taken to the limit in some stunning rooms. The Russian icons did not work for me, but some of the items in the Treasury were mind-boggling, especially the ivory carvings (yes, I know tastes change over the centuries). Café not the cheapest and service not great. Boboli Gardens are an extra fee.Written November 22, 2024

He had great energy and was happy to share a variety of restaurant recommendations for not only the Florence area but other surrounding areas we scheduled to visit on our trip. It was a very fun day! - carolcP2672NU0 contributionsMontalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano from SienaI booked a trip to Montalcino, Pienza, and Montepulciano. The tour completely left out Montalcino and the tour guide acted like he didn’t know we were supposed to go there. We left from Siena and went to a small winery in Lornano, in Chianti, the opposite direction of the 3 towns we were supposed to visit. Very disappointing tour.Written October 9, 2024

- Mermaidmelissa0 contributionsNot for me i am afraidHuge group tours are not my thing, the 2 vineyards we visited were very different the firat felt like a sales tour, the second was fun and they made a real effort to include everyone. Then a random trip to a castle when the weather was awful, seemed to be an exercise tonget us all to spend money in the small bar there. Overall it was ok but not my thingWritten September 24, 2024
- christinawP8923FN0 contributionsTour for first-timersI’ve had the opportunity to do another large scale bus tour through the Chianti wine region so it was hard to not compare to this one. I felt the wineries we visited were best suited for those who have no wine experience. I understand the large scale tours have partnerships with wineries who will take large groups, but I was hoping one of the stops would be more authentic and offer views of the vineyard but both wineries were more of tourist stop. For those who know a bit about wine, spending a bit more money would be worth your time to ensure you get to visit more classic takes on Chianti wineries. Coming from Canada, the wineries felt like the ones at home which offer great experiences for first-timers but not best recommended for those with previous interest. The tour was rushed at each stop which became a joke between all tour goers but does affect the experience. To also note, pay attention to the pick up point - it is 25 minutes from the main station which led to a very squished train ride home. I luckily was English speaking but this tour is also offered in Spanish and both wineries the host did not know Spanish so I felt bad for the attendees who were expecting a Spanish tour. Overall, good tour for those who have never done a wine tour before but I would not recommend for someone with wine experience.Written September 20, 2024
- EvaSchill20150 contributionsGood winetour but started to late in the dayOverall a nice wine testing tour in Brunello. First we visited an organic winery that also grew other things and have their own bee farm and made their own honey. We tasted four lovely wines. The also make a super Tuscan. One Brunello was so good so we ordered some to be sent home. Then we went to Montalcino town and had som free time there. It was to late for lunch (most restaurants in Italy stop serving lunch at 14:00) and we were glad that we had som light lunch before the tour started. Last an other winery also with very good wine whish we tasted four of. We were back in San Giminignano 20:45 in the evening. Why did we give four and not five stars? We think the tour is wrong planed in time. It started 13:00 and should take 6,5 hrs. Were back after 8 hrs. It the tour had started at 11:00 instead, then the first winery and after that lunch in Montalcino we would have been back in a reasonable time at night.Written September 20, 2024

- Greg V0 contributionsRip OffWe booked an English guided tour and received none of what Viator advertised. No guide, and the driver could not speak a word of English. I actually feel bad for the driver. After showing up late, he took us to our first destination and simply dropped us off and pointed in the direction we were supposed to walk. It took a few minutes of hand gestures to figure out when he wanted us back to the van. We immediately contacted Viator in the hopes of resolving the issue. But to our surprise, Viator said they were unable to get any response from the local company that they were using. They did however confirm that we were not receiving what we paid for. It was a small group tour that cost just over $400 per couple. All three couples on the tour complained mid tour. And we all received the exact same response. “Sorry, you are right that you were supposed to have an English guide. Sorry. We will give you a $40 return. Can we help with any other tours?” Seriously. 10% return for a tour that delivered nothing of what was advertised and then they had the nerve to try and sell us another tour. On a somewhat humorous side. All three couples received the exact same response. Almost as if it was pre programmed. We’ve held off on this review to give Viator time to make good on their product. They asked us to wait three days. It’s now day four and still radio silence. In an attempt to help others avoid this one at all costs. Don’t get taken for a ride. And if Viator reads this, it’s not too late to rectify the situation.Written September 17, 2024

As you can see I took a lot of pictures and these don’t include the step by step process. Chef Simone has a working restaurant but takes occasional time for these tours, in his home. It is as beautiful as it is rustic. He was a pleasure to be around as he proved to be both humorous as he was informative. We did ravioli and tiramisu. Awesome experience.

We had an amazing experiencing learning how to make pasta from scratch, and were taught not just the spinach and cheese stuffed ravioli that we had for lunch, but how to make many of the other pasta shapes too! We also learned how to make Tiramasu and since I do not personally like coffee I learned many other options to include instead. Not only did we learn a lot, but we had fun doing it! Chef Simone is the chef at La Lodgia which we hope to visit and is highly recognized. He taught us everything his grandmother taught him about those two dishes. Again--amazing! We also saw his herb and vegetable garden, mentioned we liked artichokes, and he spontaneously made an artichoke dish and bruschetta to include with our feast. Very very memorable, I plan to teach my three girls when I get home!

This was one of our highlights in Tuscany, and our trip to Italy! It is an authentic Tuscan experience. We were warmly welcomed to Simone’s home surrounded by grape vines and olive trees. Simone taught our small group of 6 how to make spinach ravioli and tiramisu while we sipped on Chianti wine. Thank you, Simone, for sharing your home and love of cooking with us!

This cooking class with Simone was so much fun! We made ricotta and cheese ravioli with fresh pasta made by us. We also made tira misu. Simone prepared tomato brushetta and cooked the raviolis then served us outside of the farmhouse. Delicious chianti available throughout. My daughter and I were part of a group of 8- nice size for a cooking class . Setting was a very old and interesting farmhouse in the very scenic Chianti countryside.

Together with my friend we booked Simone his cooking class from Siena. We were picked up smoothly from Siena to then drive 20min to the farm of Simone were the cooking class would happen. It turned out we were the only two participants, which made it a private class. It was a great experience, first of all you are in a beautiful location between the vineyards, secondly Simone is a chef and explained very well the process of pasta making and tiramisu. We made Ravioli in the end all by hand which was awesome! Together with the Chianti glasses of wine throughout the lesson, we had a really nice experience and some great new memories, would def. recommend!

What a great experience! There were 6 of us and we were joined by another couple. We made ravioli and tiramisu. The class is very hands on. After we prepped our food, we sat down for a meal of what we made, plus bruschetta. Everything was delicious! We had such a good time. Would strongly recommend!

This class was great. Simone the chef was outstanding. Everyone had a opportunity to be part of the cooking. Along with Simone showing us how to prepare the menu but he was also very entertaining as well.
The one thing that was very frustrating about this tour is that we were given wrong directions from Viator and we arrived about two hours late. There was another couple that bought the same tour from Viator and ran into the issues as we did. Simone just came right over to us worked with us and get us up to speed with the other attendees. Thanks to Simone for making this class so much fun and waiting for us the to hours we were lost.
