Highly recommend R&R Kayaks!! We freedom hired two double kayaks. Top quality equipment in great condition, all safety gear included, super friendly and knowledgeable staff, base facilities excellent (hot showers for after the trip), easy booking and excellent pre-trip comms, and super efficient on and off the water. A great day in Abel Tasman. Good easy morning walk up the coastal track. Rain at lunch disappeared once we got out on the water. A delightful afternoon kayak with guide Pandi who took us along the coast. The highlight was the group of baby seals frolicking by an island. They were still young enough to be curious about humans and swam back and forth only a handful of meters away. Unforgettable.

Phenomenal. Zak went well out of his way to assist our family, from planning through our trip - esp as we were delayed due to illness and needed to reschedule. Zak rearranged our plans, adjusted everything accordingly. Private tour - beautiful day, including the taxi rides out and back, baby and adult seals - Bark Bay to Anchorage Beach, highly recommended.

Nice company and well organised tour. We did crème de la crime and loved the kayak portion around the marine reserve - great views of seal colony and saw some pups. It’s a fun sea kayak - the guided walk portion was nice and meant all the water taxis were organised for you - but you could just do this yourself! If you know you enjoy kayaking then do a full day on the sea I wish we had done that. The reserve is beautiful - we didn’t have great weather sadly but still a nice day. Guides were nice and helpful

Great to hire a doubke kayak from R&R for 3 day freedom trip. It came with buoyancy device, pump, flares and small drybag. The staff did a fabulous detailed briefing even for us as experienced kayakers - useful to get local knowledge and advice. Also they have a good arrangement with local water taxis should you get into teouble. Useful to bring your own drybags for multi day - if you have them. Also book your DOC campsite beforehand if camping. We loved Observation beach and Mosquito bay campsites. They were great places to explore from. Adele island is a real highlight. With predator control there, the bird life is amazing to hear from the water. We went back a few times while staying at Observation Beach. Remember if you land on beach - check your kayak beforehand for any mice etc. We also saw seals, penguins, gannets, shags etc - especially around marine reserve up coast Mosquito bay. Another highlight was Shag Harbour it was stunning at high tide so if you have the chance and it is safe to do so - visit. Note conditions can change quickly so take advice of staff. Eg we did mad mile a couple of times - was quite different! Highly recommend - also loved the trip on Aquataxi - fun way to end!

Great opportunity to learn to kayak. The boats were comfy and kept our stuff dry. We saw seals and birds and had a lovely swim in the water. We enjoyed our own picnic but you can pay for lunch. Our guide was very knowledgeable, taught us how to paddle effectively and taught us about the local fauna. It was great weather but even so the paddling was hard work. We enjoy being active so had a great time, but if you want a chill beach day, this tour is not for you. Our ferry back was well organised and there was hot showers were appreciated. Thank you for a great time 😄

Just returned from an amazing day of kayaking and walking. The kayaking was fantastic. Pandi, our guide, was amazing. Safety procedures were paramount but we had lots of fun and challenges. We were guided to see seals and stopped at beautiful bays along the way. The group mixed well and Pandi made sure that we were all happy and comfortable at all times. Excellent instruction and great fun.

AMAZING!!! Taxi to Onetahuti and then kayak to Anchorage. Fantastic guide, Lucas! Lots to see including rays, seals , just stunning. We have booked onto our all-day guided tour with R&R. The water taxi has taken us much further north, into the heart of Abel Tasman, to Onetahuti. Our guide, Lucas crystal clear water, there is lots to see including green lipped mussels on the rocks and stingrays swimming right under the kayak. Fur seals were out basking behind Tonga Island. We hugged into the coastline marvelling at its chiselled granite rock formations. Lunch completely on our own on Mosquito Bay which is only accessible by the sea. Another achingly beautiful swim……. We headed off again to navigate up a small estuary to a lagoon and then wafted/surfed back south to Anchorage Bay with the sea breeze. Lucas, ever the host, sat down with us at the end of the day to map out the next 2 weeks for us.

Very well organised and easy to book. Our guide Emma was lovely and spent time giving us information on the places we visited as well as advice on what else to do in the area. The base was easy to park in and at the end there was no rush to leave and they even provided hot showers before we headed off.

We upgraded last minute to a trip further down the park. Rohan made it possible and was extremely helpful!! It was an absolutely amazing experience and I would always combine kayak and walking there. There are a couple more tour options on R&Rs site. 100% recommended!

Great day out kayaking! Highly recommend this family run company. Everybody is super friendly and helpful. We opted for the full day as wasn’t very much more cost wise. We saw ample seals and had a lovely lunch stop on the beach with time for a swim and relax before continuing the afternoon kayak. Glad we did it as a guided tour as you wouldn’t be able to reach or see half as much by doing it by yourself. Led by Miriam (doing her training) with support from Quinn. Both excellent and thoroughly enjoyed. Faultless transfer out on speedboat both ways too.

We signed up for the family split-apple-rock adventure with our 7yr old. The company was very communicative and suggested that we start a bit early to enjoy better weather conditions, but were very flexible either way. The trip was really fun. Our guide was professional, knowledgeable and very kind. Her experience was obvious when the wind kicked up a little at the end. She was encouraging our son (her paddle partner), and he really enjoyed his time with her. Will definitely go with R&R when we return to Abel Tasman.

Great service from Ruhan and the team at R&R Kayaks. Zac organised a guided tour to Split Apple Rock for us to fit our limited timetable. We only had one small window of opportunity to do it in. It is a great way to see Split Apple Rock up close! We were first time sea kayakers and had an awesome time guided by Quinn. Would highly recommend.

Went on a tour with my mother, and it was excellent. Our guide was Quinn was our guide and he kept it entertaining by using his knowledge of local wildlife. While it’s not promised he made sure we could see as many creatures as possible. As far as the admin task I would send anyone there. They ensure you make it to your destination at every step of the way. If it is a smaller group they can cater the experience to what you want to see. I would recommend this to anyone and I wouldn’t ever worry about sending someone to them. Only thing I would recommend is some sort of cushion along the back because the plastic starts to rub against it but that’s my only complaint.

Ka Rawe Tour with Jakeb! Love the taxi ride to Bark Bay, then a delicious lunch and hikoi around the lagoon. A superb coffee and tea picnic spot before taking on the beautiful bays in a double kayak. My partner and I were lucky to have the experience of just us and our guide, along with unlimited history and fun facts about Abel Tasman National Park. The awesomest tour guide, Jakeb, Sealed the ending with a surf into Anchorage Bay. Highly recommend R&R Kayaks when visiting Abel Tasman.
