Tom is probably the best guide we have had the pleasure of meeting. He is not only extremely knowledgeable and engaging, but he has a knack for tailoring his tour for all ages. We were holidaying with six kids aged 5-19 and he managed to entertain and inform all of us. His enthusiasm for the city is infectious. We highly recommend booking this tour - you will not be disappointed. Thank you so much, Tom!

We always try to fit in a guided tour when visiting somewhere new so we can hopefully learn something of the history together with interesting stories. Tom didn’t disappoint, he has a friendly outgoing personality which he uses to good effect when carrying out his tour. As a deaf person I found him clear to hear which is a must for me. We walked around the city centre while Tom relayed interesting facts about the city together with amusing stories.
Tom was well worth the investment of a mere £10 each and I would certainly recommend him to others as a guide

My sisters and I loved this walking tour of Durham with the brilliant guide Tom (in a burgundy coat this time, not beige). It lasted just over 90 mins, so the perfect amount of time to be shown lots of interesting parts of Durham with Tom’s historical knowledge and humour bringing it all to life for us. I would throughly recommend this tour to everyone. It was really great!

Tom was a fantastic guide and a knowledgeable young man. Personally I would've struggled to find much to say about Durham for 90 mins as it doesn't immediately appear to look like city to do a walking tour (other than the obvious cathedral area) But he obviously knows his stuff! My husband especially loved it and we both happily recommend this should anyone find themselves on a rainy weekend in Durham! Thank you Tom 😊

Go with Tom as a guide on a walking tour in Durham, guaranteed you will get information, drama and fun. Tom is BY FAR the best guide I ever encountered in my many travels around the globe. His way of presenting the information to his guest(s) is not only informative and pleasant, but true drama and captivating from very beginning until the very end. A great guy with fantastic knowledge, interactive, dramatic and good sense of humor, and just a very pleasant person.
I can only use superlatives about him and his tour, running the risk of becoming untrustworthy. My advice: JUST DO IT!

Do not hesitate to book this guided walking tour! Tom your guide is knowledgeable and full of interesting stories about characters who inhabited Durham in years gone by. The way he articulates the stories make the tour captivating and entertaining with the time flying by as you walk the streets of Durham learning as you go. The most enjoyable time spent in Durham on this tour. Highly recommend.

Tom imparted so much local historical information and all with a very amenable attitude.
I felt that the tour length was about right and Tom provided insights to the city, it's architecture and characters, some of which I would never have dreamed of! Definitely recommended.

Tom is a knowledgeable and charismatic character who will have you captivated for an hour and half with stories of the infamous people of Durham's past. You could visit Durham a thousand times and miss out on all the amazing things that he will will show and tell you. A good tour guide makes a great experience and Tom is up there with the best.
I can guarantee you two things......
1. You will not walk away thinking " well that was a waste of money!"
2. For an hour and half you will be engrossed in a world containing best stories involving the characters of Durhams past and not once will you randomly pull your smart phone out of your pocket to check your emails or social media.
Be sure to ask him about the the two cannibals in Durham that ate the castle Jester.... Apparently one of the cannibals said to other " does this meat taste funny to you ?"
Thanks Tom I shall be recommending you .
regards
Adam

4 friends over 60 thoroughly enjoyed this guided walk. Tom is a knowledgeable guide who shares interesting stories and facts along the way. He comfortably answered everyone's questions and even kept us on our toes with a few of his own unusual questions. Information shared about Durham's historic characters was fascinating plus Tom took us to his favorite view of the cathedral for a great photo opportunity.
