- M3376HKemmap0 contributionsKjerag with HelgaThe hike was great. The last view was amazing. Our guide Helga was the best, she was super kind and made the hike very enjoyable. She talks about to many regional details. She also explain us a lot about the Sami culture. The hike was not as difficult as I expected. I totally recommend to go to this hike and take her a a guide. We take Oregon her dog to the hike and he was a great plus in the day ❤️Written September 20, 2024
- EdmilsonLogan0 contributionsAn unforgettable hikkingThis was the best hike of my life, and all the effort to climb the trail was worth it. The guide Hege is very attentive, with a great sense of humor and friendliness, she explains everything during the trail during rest periods and was always willing to help and give tips on the most difficult sections. This combination of nature and the sensational guide made this trail an unforgettable trip.Written September 18, 2024
- phillippac20130 contributionsGo on, challenge yourselfWhat a great trip. It was so well organised from start to end and our lovely guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Pick up at the door, coffee on the ferry, encouragement on the climb, tea and cake at the end and drop off back to the door. What more could you ask for. Avoid the crowds and experience one of Norway's hidden gems.Written September 4, 2024

- Nomad582498065790 contributionsLekker en Mooi!Shawn our guide was amazing and we had a diverse group, everyone was accommodating and looked out for each other. He also took us to another amazing spot aside the Kjeragbolten. Only area of improvement is communication as we could not reach them after waiting for pick up for a while, we almost went back to the room.Written July 15, 2024
- 105elicef0 contributionsAvoid! Impatient guide who kept cursing.Guide was impatient and rude. He sent 3 of the 8 people back after 1 hour. I am a 35 year old who runs marathons and completed serious international hikes. He insisted I stop hiking. I had to sit in the waiting area for 5 hours. Worst experience ever. Guide didn’t give any assistance to anyone on the hike. He was unpleasant and rude. For example, he kept cursing (even in the car.)Written June 23, 2024
- abdulmohsena3520 contributionsHike perfectly ruinedLets start by how the operator was extremely unprofessional and has gut to cancel a trip 20 minutes before the pick up time. I understand if the guide was sick but it is your problem to handle and not me. I came specifically for this trip and was perfectly ruined while you are hiding behind the screen. TripAdvisor should have action to protect its customers from such lousy operators. I don’t recommend this guy at all.Written June 15, 2024

- Seaside541969364720 contributionsGreat hike at KjeraldWent with a random group who were really nice people, also the guide Marius was awesome, knows the mountain like the palm of his hand and always willing to help, specially when we are having trouble in the descent, with slippery gradientsWritten May 29, 2024
- Catherine S0 contributionsBreath taking ViewsWonderful visit, completed this with my partner and was guided by the fantastic Benedicta. She was great with guiding us to the top and gave us great information about lsyefjord The word breathtaking is often thrown about very loosely but it was definitely accurate for the views at the top It was great value for money and I would definitely recommended anyone who is able to do itWritten May 28, 2024
- Laura T0 contributionsA Must seeGorgeous challenging hike. Mostly steep climbs. If you are a seasoned hiker and have transportation, a guide is unnecessary. The trail is well marked with maps along the way guiding you. You definitely need crampons during winter as the trail was snow covered and Ivey in places. These can be rented on site for 100kr. Hiking poles would have been helpful. Hike takes roughly 2 hours one way.Written December 5, 2023
- Jacqueline R0 contributionsGreat hike and viewsThe hike was amazing!! It was absolutely worth the trip and the 2-3 hour hike up to the viewpoint. The guide was very knowledgeable of the area and terrain.Written October 25, 2023
- Benjamin B0 contributionsProbably my favorite trek in NorwayMy favorite trek in Norway, maybe the harder especially by rain (all our way to going there), very slippy but nice accommodation to help you for going there but it’s expensive, Absolutely stunning !Written October 12, 2023

I’m sorry to say we were left disappointed by our “guided” hike provided by Lysefjorden Adventure. I’ve been deliberating over whether to leave a review or not as overall the experience of being at Pulpit Rock was lovely, but I think others should be aware that the experience seems to be entirely make or break depending on who you get as your guide.
From thoroughly reading reviews before we booked maybe my expectations were high, as it seems others had really good experiences provided by their guides, however we feel our guide didn’t really add anything to the experience of the trip, apart from providing transportation.
They didn’t offer or provide any local knowledge or insights about the area through small talk, they frequently walked onwards and in front of the group so much so that they couldn’t even be seen. I would say they walked “with” the group for approx 30% of the time and when they did they seemed to favour some guests over others when choosing who to “walk with”, so we were left feeling not really a part of the experience we had paid for.
The guide powering ahead the entire time made the experience feel very rushed, being tourists we didn’t really have an idea of how long the hike would take so thought the rushing was necessary to keep on schedule. However nearing the end of the hike on the way back it became apparent that we were around 30 mins ahead of schedule.
This realisation was frustrating as pretty much the whole trip we were made to feel guilty for periodically stopping to take photos and I couldn’t even often look up from walking to take in the scenery as I didn’t feel there was time and I couldn’t even see the guide anymore.
I would say to others before booking this if you think you need a guide for directions, the route to the rock is very obvious as the trail is very busy, so in my opinion, having a “guide” in this instance was not necessary.
If you feel you need a guide as you are nervous about the hike, perhaps this isn’t the excursion for you as the “guide” did not elevate the experience or provide any support, moral or otherwise.
I’m my opinion the guide should have eyes on their guests for the majority of the walk, and they just simply did not. They walked ahead. Alone.
So…. all you need is transport to the base car park and that can probably be achieved for a cheaper price elsewhere.
Also I found communication from this company to be poor and they were late picking us up.

this hike was incredible and Hege was super, thank you for a fantastic hike I loved it! Really smooth to be picked up from Stavanger and driven to the hike. What a brilliant day. Definitely do this tour! We started at 7am so there were very few people at the viewpoint, we were so lucky to get the sun in September! I really wanted to do this hike when visiting Norway but was nervous about hiking alone, we had a small group of 3, a great way to feel safe and meet other travellers up the hike ☺️ Thank you Hege

Our guide Rebecca was passionate about this trip as she had first hiked this trip when she was 4 and had guided a group the day before. She helped all members of the group enjoy the day making sure everyone had a safe hike even the slow ones. She stopped to pick up rubbish dropped by other tourists. The only disquiet was a late pick up due to flat battery. She texted after pick up time.
She was helpful with local information such as restaurants and other places to see. She also helped an elderly person not in the group struggling with the hike. Took great photos of us.
Day was paced well especially as hike was demanding but well and truly worth the effort. Rebecca really made sure we enjoyed our trip.

I booked a guided hike to pulpit Rock. Helga guided the group and was very considerate, knowledgeable and attentive. She is a superwoman, and makes hiking look very easy :D On the way down she took us via an alternative route - which was much more interesting and let us avoid the crowds of tourists.

Haga, our tour guide, was patient and kind. She was also very friendly and professional. She alerted us when it was slippery, and which water stream to fill our bottles from. She lent me her hand knitted sweater once we got to the top to keep me warm. She even shared her hot coffee which was a perfect way to celebrate reaching the rock! Views were surreal. I highly recommend this hike and this tour guide service.

A trip of a lifetime! Our guide (Andrea) was incredible the whole way throughout. From the pick up/drops offs to the local knowledge of Stavanger and the hike itself, she was amazing and made the trip as fun and as safe as possible. The hike itself is breathtaking, the peak is beautiful but even the little stops along the way make it worthwhile for the views.
Would 100% recommend this for a day trip, and if you get Andrea the tour guide.. it’s even better!

Hike done on Sep24 early morning
The hike was superb, breathtaking landscapes, a very nice and international group (Norway, Venezuela, ireland and France). Hege our guide deserves 5 stars: kind, professional, many stories about the region, good advice and a return by paths without tourists where you could feel the nature, the silence the beauty of the landscapes.
Thank you Hege for this day

Despite attending the trip alone I came down feeling as if I'd been hiking with friends. Their was myself and four others in our group and our guide was very accommodating to those struggling, with rest stops quite frequent and no urge to move on until everyone was ready. I've forgotten the guides name but would like to thank her for an amazing experience!

I booked this trip as an unforgettable birthday present for my beloved wife. And what should I say, it was such an incredible experience!
Weather was perfect at this day and the nature around was awesome. After the trip we were physically exhaused (because our fitness level was not so good), but very very happy.
A word regarding our guide Lucy. She was the perfect guide, always on, responsible, answered all our questions with a lot of patience :-) Lysefjorden, you should be very happy to have such a guide.
All in all, we were totally happy with this tour and for sure we will recommend Lysefjorden tours to our friends.

The hike itself was amazing and our guide Helga was professional and pleasant. We were lucky,to have a clear day we climbed . It started raining when we were on our way down and the rocks became very slippery. I would be very cautious about doing it on a very wet day. Unfortunately Lysefjordan Adventures is a very difficult company to get hold of. On their website is says they are, open 24 hours but there is only an answering machine. I needed to advise them where to,pick us up and became very frustrated trying to get hold of them.

We arrive on Disney Dream at Mekjarvik port, are ashore at 9am and need to be back to ship at 4pm. Will this location and timing work? There are 7 and maybe 5 more. Thanks

We didn’t even think about this as we already had travel insurance and I don’t think hiking would be considered an extreme sport. Best to ask Lyseford Adventures. Sorry can’t help

We are 3 adults on P&O Iona. We arrive into Stravagar on 23rd May. We do not know the arrival sail times yet but I'm assuming you take P&O passengers regularly on your excursion? If we book can you assure us that we can do the hike and return trip and be back in time for sailing.
Thanks, Emma

How well trained do you have to be for this hike? How many meters is the clim in total? en what distance? we do hikes when we are in Norway but we want to be sure we can follow the group.

Hoe goed moet je getraind zijn voor deze wandeling? is het heel steil? hoeveel meters klim je in hoogte? en hoeveel kilometer in is het in totaal? We zijn wel fit maar willen de groep ook niet ophouden.
