      Great Day Hiking!
We had a great day hiking with our guide, Jorgi (I’m sure I spelled that wrong!). The weather wasn’t great and it rained a bit and was foggy so we didn’t have any views, but Jorgi had so much interesting information about Norway and the local plants. We had a great time and it was one of the highlights of our 2 weeks in Norway.

All praise to Øystein, our stellar guide
Fabulous experience. Even better than the glorious sights was our guide, Øystein. His love of his country and the local landscape was infectious. He could not have been kinder or more accommodating to our group. The hike itself was stunningly beautiful. Our picnic overlooking the fjord was an experience I will treasure. Can't recommend highly enough!

Bad experience at LAKKBAR NAIL SALON - Bergen, Norway
I was on a cruise last week and stopped in Bergen. Warning, cruisers. DO NOT GO TO Lakkbar Nail Salon in the Galeria. I made that mistake. I arrived at 2:30 pm and asked if I could get a mani-pedi. A woman (I think the owner) told me that I would need to come back at 6 pm and PAY IN ADVANCE. (I like a dumbbell did so.) She told me not to worry, I would have two people working on me - one for toes, one for fingers. I got there early and at 6:25 pm was tired of waiting considering that the one that was supposed to do my toes was attending to a disgruntled customer who had a bad mani or pedi and they was no 2nd person. I got up and asked for a refund. I was told 'be patient'. So finally I asked to speak to the owner. They called her and she denied that she told me that I would have two people and refused to refund. NOTE TO SELF (AND OTHERS) - NEVER pay in advance for service with people you do not know. I have given credit card to 'hold' appointment but in this case, they actually ran the charges ahead.

A lot of promises but no real delivery
I had high hopes on booking this 'exclusive' tour with a guide - lots of promises about the challenges and excitement that was ahead of me - no real delivery of anything that was anything that most people could and do do - first day the most challenging and had hoped that the next two days would fulfil some of the promises - instead second day involved walking around a lake and third day climbing up and down an easy mountain and back at my hotel early afternoon despite having paid for a full day. Cannot fault my guide as she just followed the instructions given by the company - upset as for what it cost had had high hopes. My sense is this company does more group tours rather than one on one experiences.

      The highlight of my trip
The "On top of Bergen" hike was without doubt the highlight of my recent trip. Our guide Øystein was friendly and knowledgeable, taking us off the marked tracks and up to stunning viewpoints. I was blessed with good weather, but I am sure I would have enjoyed the trip regardless. Hikes are tailored to ability level and weather conditions, you will always be safe and able to enjoy the trip. I highly recommend Norway Mountain Guides and hope to hike with them again in future!

      The amazing Ole
What an amazing day out. We thoroughly enjoyed the snow shoe hike. Ole was brilliant, knowledgeable, funny and overall a superb guide. Ole really went out of his way to make our experience unforgettable. With it being Easter he even brought us some chocolate 😋. Thanks again Ole, you made an unforgettable new experience even more memorable.

      Unforgettable experience!!
We absolutely loved every second of our winter mountain snowshoe hike adventure. Our guide Ole was absolutely fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable, very patient and a lot of fun. He insured that we were comfortable the entire time and also allowed us a lot of freedom on the hike. He was also very interesting and great to talk to. The experience run smoothly from starts finish – from pick up in Bergen city centre to collection of the gear to the hike itself. We were very lucky with the weather – it was a lovely day with blue skies, and the hike was extremely picturesque. However, I think we would have enjoyed the experience regardless because of our amazing guide. All in all, it was a perfect hike with great weather and a new friend in Ole. The hike was approximately 10 km round-trip with some significant elevation – however, I have full confidence that the guide would have tailored this to our fitness levels. I will not only be recommending this experience to my friends – but I will be returning myself for more in the future.

Perfecte snowshoe wandeling, zelfs nog in maart!
This was an amzing snowshoe trip. Although in Bergen there was no snow the two guides drove us up the mountain and we spend a good couple of hours there snowshoeing! Two guides on a small group (6-7). Looking after us very well regarding safety and to fully enjoy our trip! Well done Norway Mountain Guides!

      A fun drizzly day!
I went with Oystein and 3 other guests. Pick up in the car was prompt and as specified. It was a very drizzly, overcast day so was concerned we would struggle to find snow but Oystein knew exactly where to go. Despite the rain, we saw some beautiful sights, although no views due to the clouds (I can imagine the views would have been stunning!). Really enjoyed the hot chocolate and Norwegian snacks in the cabin- a chance to hear about Oystein’s incredible life whilst snacking on reindeer sausage! As a solo traveller, I felt comfortable and safe at all times and really enjoyed the day. Thanks Oystein!

The best way to see Norway.
Had a fantastic time, highly rated. Øystein was an excellent guide and we were completely comfortable with his skills and abilities, but also - he was incredibly friendly and good natuted, which just eased us into the whole experience. It was excellent throughout, with great views, and never too challenging - but just enough that it was engaging. Would recommend anyone going to Bergen to reach out and take one of these tours, it's the best way to see Norway.

Even though it was raining where we were staying, our guide found the snow. Such a fun guy. We had a great time. Highly recommended.

We booked a one day hiking tour with mountain guides. We were so pleasantly surprised. From the booking til the final step of the hike. Daniel was very knowledgeable about the areas hiking, troll lore and Norway itself. He was very animated and a great conversationalist. We enjoyed our day very very much and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Bergen. Thanks for your expertise and generosity.

Booked on Viator, looked like an experience worth doing .. we were not disappointed.. met Frank as agreed ..

The tour was awesome and saw three of the seven mountains of on our trek that Frank changed due to the weather conditions ..

Together with Christine who was also on the trek we went to places with few people and was able to really enjoy untouched Bergen ..

I can’t recommend this enough .. frank was the best guide !!

We had a beautiful day on the mountains. Frank our guide understood ,when we started walking, that my pace is slower than the others in our small group. He made the accommodations needed and we enjoyed the route very much. Frank is very experienced in hiking. He also shared with us much information about Norway and Norwegian people and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I highly recommend taking a hike with him. Wish he had more hikes in different lengths and degrees of difficulty, but all in all it was an unforgettable adventure!

I travelled to Bergen this summer and I booked the Bergen Classic tour. I was a bit nervous, but Frank was the kindest! From the moment we met he made sure everybody was comfortable and ready to hike. Soon in the hike it was clear that the experience level of the different people in our group was divided and that we wouldn't be able to finish the planned tour. Frank then made sure we made an equivalent (but shorter) hike, with equally nice views. He told us about Norwegian history, customs, nature and answered all of our questions. He helped when we needed it, and he made sure everybody was fine and happy. It was a beautiful day!

Thank you so much Sofie! It's not always easy to mix different levels of training and experience, so we've made some changes. This tour is now marked extra hard and as a long trip that requires a lot. This was stated in the tour description, but now we use it as the heading for the trip "Bergen Classic." Thank's for your feedback.

Norway mountain guide did a great job with this tour. The weather wasn’t great so they had to change the original plan from mt ulriken to mt blamanen but we still got to see all the 7 mountains. Our guide, frank was very patience and very accommodative. He made sure everyone in the group (there were three of us) was okay all the way long from the start to the end. He was also very informative. We basically asked a lot of questions about Bergen and frank happily answered the questions to the best of his knowledge. So it’s not just about the hiking and got to see beautiful views but I also learned something new from this trip.

My mother and I had a lovely time with our guide Frank! We had prepared ourselves for a rainy day, but we lucked out with gorgeous weather. All throughout our hike Frank pointed out Bergen landmarks, described Norwegian culture, and guided us up and over the beautiful peaks overlooking the city. This was absolutely a highlight of our time in Bergen!

I booked this tour on a whim. I always hike independently and would never think to hire a guide, but I was inspired by these reviews to try it. I am so glad that I did!

I was in a group of three signed up to do the Vidden trail, with Frank Barmen as our guide. I had been excited to do the trek from Ulriken to Floyen - unfortunately, unusually heavy rain the night before meant the trails were likely too slippery to be enjoyable. Frank suggested we do something of similar length and difficulty and designed a less well-traveled route for us.

This was such a wonderful day. The terrain was beautiful and the views were amazing, and the hours and miles passed so quickly. Frank was focused on giving us the best experience possible and at several junctures he gave us a choice of routes. We were having such a great time that we always picked the longer option, eager to extend the trip as much as possible.

I would encourage anyone to hike Bergen with Norway Mountain Guides, even if you are a very experienced hiker. Frank's stories about Norway history and culture made this so much more than just a hike. I can climb a mountain or hike a beautiful forest any time I want to back in my home state of Washington, but this was a much different and much richer experience.

Frank was accommodating and caring - he is clearly passionate about sharing the natural beauty of Bergen with others. The other people on the tour, Laura and David, were great companions, too - I feel lucky to have met them.

Be sure to wear hiking or running shoes and bring several layers. The temperature fluctuated quite a bit through out the day, sometimes very quickly.

You won't regret doing a hiking tour with Frank and his guides. Yes, you can hike Bergen on your own and have a lovely time, but you should also take the opportunity to hike with a local person and learn all about Bergen and Norway while also enjoying the natural beauty.

Christine, I become humble and thoughtful as I read this. We want, and work hard for you to have the best possible stay in Bergen and experience the nature and the mountains that we do in a safe way, but this is just outstanding. Thank you so much for your wonderful words, it provides motivation for a small mountain company to work hard, to be able to do this 365 days a year!! You are always welcome back! Best regards Frankieboy

Took the cable car up Ulriken, hiked the 13km trail in about 4.5 hours, enjoyed a beer at Floyen, and took the funicular down. The views during the entire hike were AMAZING. I would highly recommend hiking Ulriken-->Floyen as it's much more downhill.

My daughter and I did the Vidden hike with Frank, owner of Norwaymountainguides.com yesterday. We thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and the views of the Bergen area. Frank was so knowledgeable and such a flexible guide. He completely tailored the hike to the likes and needs of our small group. I would highly recommend using this company for your hiking/tour needs while in Bergen.

ÅÅÅ Nice to hear, thank you so much. Sometimes it is far better not to think business but rather go with small groups where we have time for good conversations and appreciate nature around us. Thank you so much for choosing NMG so your supplier for one of your few holiday days.
