      You can do it!
The Fjord cruise and trip to Bergen are a must do in an itinerary to Norway. The Oslo Fjord is nice but you’ve missed something if you didn’t see the ones in the west.

DIY fjord trip had challenges but was spectacular !
Hi we had a nice trip on the fjord, however it was quite a long trip to Flam via the comfortable ferry. Flam was amazing and sensation views as the weather was sunny for us and we stayed 1 night in the Svengen guesthouse bordering on the Fjord. Sadly the train trip to Oslo was broken up due to previous train being derailed and we had to transfer to VY coaches. We eventually reached Oslo around 7.30pm

Trip Review: Norway by Car, Fjord Cruise, and Rail
Journey Overview Our adventure began with a road trip from Oslo to Bergen, a route that offered a mix of challenges and breathtaking views. The drive through the mountains was demanding at times, but the rewards were well worth the effort. Driving from Oslo to Bergen Navigating the mountainous terrain posed some challenges, but the experience was ultimately enjoyable. Driving on top of the mountains provided a unique perspective on Norway's stunning landscapes. The winding roads and high altitudes offered unparalleled views, making every twist and turn an adventure in itself. Fjord Cruise Upon reaching Bergen, we embarked on a Fjord Cruise—a must-do for anyone visiting Norway. This cruise was the highlight of our trip, showcasing the raw power and beauty of nature. As we glided through the fjords, surrounded by towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls, we were reminded of how small we are in comparison to the majestic natural world. The fjord cruise is truly a one-of-a-kind experience that leaves a lasting impression. Rail Trip Back to Bergen To balance our day trip, we took the rail back to Bergen. This leg of the journey provided a different but equally captivating perspective of Norway. The train ride allowed us to relax and enjoy the scenery from a comfortable vantage point, showcasing Norway's diverse landscapes and charming countryside. It was a perfect way to conclude our trip, offering a comprehensive view of what Norway has to offer. Final Thoughts Our trip through Norway was an unforgettable blend of challenging drives, awe-inspiring natural beauty, and relaxing rail journeys. Each part of the journey complemented the others, providing a well-rounded and enriching travel experience. If you're planning a trip to Norway, don't miss the opportunity to drive through the mountains, take a fjord cruise, and experience the scenic railways.

      Norway in 24hrs amazing.
Fabulous way to see Norway with not much time. Easy instructions and everything runs right on time. Beautiful scenery. Highly recommend this. We had dinner at Zander Hotel in Bergen while waiting for 11pm sleeper train. Only comment would be on the last train from Voss to Bergen, a lot of people had pre-allocated seats and ours were “ free seating “ which meant we had to keep moving as in someone’s seat. It’s pretty busy so we ended up in the pram area near the doors which wasn’t that comfortable. Would be better to also have had allocated seats for that section (maybe this could be requested). Lastly good tip would be when get off at Flam, immediately go to the opposite platform and queue up right behind any of the painted carriage numbers on the ground (1-9) as it’s a mad rush to get on and find a seat. Only told to do this prior to boarding which meant everyone pushing to start lines.

      Amazing fjords
This was an excellent day trip for my daughter and I to truly appreciate Norway's amazing landscapes. We especially loved the boat cruise along the Sognefjord and the train ride after. Each provided truly spectacular views - including a spotting of a Huldre!

Look for alternatives to Rail Ninja. MTRX is very comparable. Unfortunately, as a visitor, you can be misled!
Booked our trains several months in advance. Requested business/first class facing forward. They booked our trains and all looked well. Closer to the trip, one part of the rail was cancelled and I didn't understand we were being switched to a bus. I was of the believe we were on the train both legs. Arrived at the train station in Oslo at 9:45 for a 10 a.m. train. We attempted to board when the conductor told us this was a bus ticket at the bus terminal, which was impossible, now, to make their 10 a.m. departure. Realizing our situation, the conductor told us that this train, too, is going to Goteberg and would arrive for us to make the transfer to the second train on our agenda.. So, we had to pay cash to the conductor and boarded in economy. We felt grateful that this would not ruin our scheduling. The ride was beautiful. However, 60 miles north of Goteberg, we all were told we had to get off the train. Seems a power problem prevented the train to go any farther south. They had to call Goteberg for busses to get us there. We were able to crowd onto the first bus knowing we only and an hour layover before going on the Stockholm. Everyone was cordial and understanding. Problem for us is that we missed our connector. We had been booked on Vy trains by Ninja Rail which offered no help since we didn't take their bus that we paid for. When we got to Goteberg, I was able to find an MTRX exonomy that got us to Stockholm in time for a short overnight to make our return home trip. There are more options than Ninja Rail wants you to know! They don't mention MTRX which was comparable to Vy. Somewhere we were told that if the train was over a half hour late, you would get half your ticket rebated. I don't know where to go for this as our Vy train ended 60 miles short of our destination. Put our problems aside. the scenery is breathtaking and, still the best way to see that part of Norway.

Great Experience but not recommended in 1 day
The views, even in March were fantastic. Please keep in mind calendar holidays, most of stores other than tourist were on limited hours due to Easter week. There is a lot to take in and experience and one day doesn't cover it, so if you are able, make this st least a 2 day trip. I started my day at 545 am in Bergen and ended 2230 pm in Oslo and felt like I travelled all day instead of enjoying the time. Granted, the train out of Bergen was not running due to derailment so buses replaced it. That worked fine. Bus, train, bus in the am to get to NarrowFjord/Sognefjord. It is gorgeous and worth seeing. Fjord ship was smooth and took us to Flam. Flam is a very small souvenir town, I'm glad I didn't stay there although in summer -or winter - it would be nice for hikes. I used Porter service for my luggage so I didn't have to pull it around. I don't recall seeing lockers at flam but there could have been some.It is do-able to take your luggage if it is carry on size. Train from Myrdal back to Oslo was late 1 hour but not cancelled. All in all a worthy experience. I would have enjoyed more time to explore. Tips: always carry water and pack snacks. I got a "to go" breakfast box at my hotel. Wear layers! The coldest part was waiting for ships and trains. If you use porter service have hotel print porter service - not hotel- tags ( I never got mine so my bags arrived a day late).

      Excellent experience!
Weather wasn’t looking good, but Janis made it work! From the moment he picked us up at the hotel, to when he dropped us back 15-16 hours later, he took care of everything for us. The vehicle was in perfect conditions, and he made several stops along the way to accommodate our family needs (including my frequent photo stops). He waited for us at every stop to ensure we understood what we had to do next and was always happy to help. We provided tons of information about history, culture and interesting insights about everything. Lastly, there’s little I can say about the train ride and the cruise, the views are just amazing! If you have a full day and don’t mind spending a few hours driving back to Oslo, I would highly recommend this tour and Janis!

Excellent Fjord trip for those with limited time
This is a great day out, combining many great views of Norway, a trip on one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world, fjord boat trip combining 3 of the best Fjords and with an excellent guide, all in one package. Yes, its a long day but for those who want to see a lot of the country with limited time to do it, it is well recommended.

Challenging weather made this trip rough
I feel bad about the 3 star rating, because our guide worked really hard to give us a good trip, but this was a long, tiring day. He met us at the hotel at 8am in a Mercedes van. Right away he told us that the weather in Flam meant that the Flam Railway wasn't running, but that we would drive to Flam and that we could still do the boat trip on the Sognefjord. We started the drive, and stopped shortly after at a gas station where he filled up and suggested we got coffee. Then we continued on. The scenery was beautiful, and he worked hard to entertain us with conversation about life in Norway. As we got further into the mountains it began to snow really hard, and we had to stop to wait for a snowplough to lead us as part of a column. At some times we could barely see the hazard lights on the vehicle in front of us. As we got through the mountains the conditions improved, and we took a scenic road up a mountain to the Stegastein viewpoint, where we stopped to look at the view for about 10 minutes. This was the first significant stop since the brief coffee stop in Oslo shortly after 8am. The view was breathtaking! We finally arrived in Flam at 2.45 in the afternoon. When we arrived in Flam, the wind was really strong, and the boat was cancelled. We had a pleasant fish and chip lunch in a restaurant on the pier, spent a little time looking around the flam railway museum and some of the giftshops, and then we got in the car and began the journey back to Oslo. The snow was heavy in places on the way back, and we ended up waiting almost an hour in the car for the snowplow column to take us back through the mountains. We got back to the hotel at 11.30pm tired and hungry, having spent approximately 14 hours in the car. This trip was expensive at approximately $1800 for the two of us. The cost included the train and boat tickets, and we were given a refund of approx $250 total to compensate for that. If our guide hadn't been so considerate the day would have been a disaster. The driving conditions were awful and he must have been exhausted, but he kept smiling. Ultimately the issue was the weather, which wasn't anyone's fault. Had the weather been different, and the train/boat rides had been possible, I'm not sure if we would have spent less time in the car or if the day would have been even longer. Despite our awesome guide, I wouldn't recommend this tour because of the uncertainty of the conditions. Maybe better in summer?

      Beautiful country and people
Traveled to all five Nordic countries … all are unique, yet so much synergy! Loved Oslo, kind, honest and helpful people everywhere. Stayed at the clarion ‘hub’ near the train station, absolutely loved it!

All the things we saw were beautiful and exactly what we hoped for. The buses were oversold and 5 people had to stand the whole bus trip. When the bus hit a bump a 4ft long section of the ceiling fell into the aisle and many of the seats were broken. In other words it was not a “nice” tour but it was everything they promised. The views were spectacular.

Dear Jessica, Thank you for the review! We are extremely sorry for the bus incident. Unfortunately, the tours in the high season are experiencing high demand, so there are a lot of people participating. You can always come in the low season like autumn or early spring, and for ones, who want more isolated and private experience, we offer our Private Bergen roundtrip with Cruise and Flamsbana trip. Very easy to follow! Instructions and tickets were well laid out! Most of the stops were well timed to get refreshments and stretch your legs. The last stop in Myrdal was a little long at 50 minutes, but can see where that's important for any delays plus I'm not sure what other options there are. Overall would recommend. Much better than driving ourselves. The Flam cruise was definitely a highlight!

Had a little trouble at first with understanding exactly what I had to download. I had no trouble downloading confirmation to my Apple wallet, but didn’t realize I needed individual tickets, even with a call from agent. Gratefully someone on train explained, we called & tickets were forwarded to us immediately.

Once on the trip, it went like clockwork. My husband was a pessimist, didn’t want to go. We both LOVED the trip! The boat trip was magnificent! The old fashioned train ride was glorious. All so easy to navigate. We saw so much of Norway & met so many lovely people along the way. So grateful we did this!!!

First of a kind experience for my wife and I. While this wasn't a "tour" and you used public transport for every piece of the trip, it was so easy to transfer from one form of transport to the next. Other than one anxious moment to make sure we were in the correct train car for the Voss to Myrdal section, everything went smoothly and we were able to relax and enjoy the train, boat, and bus rides. Beautiful views of the countryside, mountains, waterfalls and fjords. You're in for an interesting surprise on the rail trip between Myrdal and Flam, at least if it's a nice day out! For us, well worth the price to have another company deal with all the ticketing rather than us trying to figure it all out.

When I read the “Norway in a Nutshell” descriptions, they are very similar to this tour. Easy Traveler did tip us off to arrive at the Bergen train station a half hour before departure, and we are glad we did as the demand for seats was high.

The train trip to Voss was scenic. Unfortunately, there was not even time in Voss for a restroom stop. Time was very limited, contributing to the chaos.Tour operators have no control over passengers’ rude behavior, of course, but people were running, pushing and shoving, and cutting into line to board the buses.

The bus trip was remarkably beautiful, and we traveled some treacherous roads. The next leg was a fjord cruise, which was amazing. The scenery was breathtaking, with waterfalls, small fishing villages, etc. dotting the landscape.

We got to spend about 2 hours in Flam before boarding the Flam railway for the return trip to Bergen. Also stunning.

The reason my review is not five stars has nothing to do with the excursion, but rather with the lack of communication from the provider. We requested a hotel pickup and provided the name of the hotel, as requested. We received an email from Viator after booking asking for the name of the hotel so tickets could be delivered, and some other information that had already been included in the reservation. We had no idea what time the tour was scheduled for and got no confirmation on hotel pickup. Before leaving home, I attempted to contact the agency in charge using the contact form provided only to discover that the communication system was not set up. I eventually tracked down a number for Viator (not easily found) and they made contact with Easy Travel. However, the response offered no answers whatsoever. We were to be inaccessible for two weeks prior to the excursion, which we conveyed to them, and had no idea what the official itinerary was, the start time, or how we would reach our destination. We regained internet access the night before the excursion, and received notification that there was no transportation and the tickets would not be delivered. Instead we received links and pdf files. Luckily, a kind hotel concierge printed the vouchers for us the night before, as we found that the bus driver would not even have accepted the electronic voucher.

In summary, the components of the tour are spectacular, but organizational and communications skills of the company need improvement.

The Sognefjord Cruise and Train Tour was absolutely wonderful! It was the highlight of our trip to Norway. We saw beautiful waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, and quaint villages. There was a layover in Flam for about 2 hours- time for lunch and shopping. Then we went on a very scenic ride on the Flam Railroad through mountains and valleys. Finally we changed to the Bergen Railroad and returned to Bergen at about 8:30 P.M. We booked this tour at the Information Center in Bergen. This tour is definitely worth going on! Truly beautiful scenery!

We travelled on 11.6.23. The trip was outstanding, except some communication hitch in the beginning.

The tour operator/s did not mention clearly the exact departure location of the bus for Arna, connecting to the train at Voss.

I spent 2.5 hours at Bergen Bus Station trying to find the departure point. At the end of this tiring endeavour I met a person from VY, who told me that the location name: Zander kaaes gate 6.

The message from operator came late.

If I had not done this pre-exercise, I do not think that I could have found out the location on time.

Except the aforesaid, the trip was excellent.
