- colleensV7594WS00Short Informative Visit to OsloTour guide was excellent and we learnt a much about Oslo. The sites visited were very interesting, especially The Polar exploration museum.
- JAM250100Fabulous tour, great value too!One of the best, most comprehensive tours we have done. Great value and Christopher our guide (#the_historygeek) was fabulous and so knowledgeable. Would thoroughly recommend this tour.
- aglow00Fun, not perfectViews were spectacular. Your was well organized and timed. The Fram museum, the Sculpture park and the Folk open air museum were fascinating. But.... we did not see the Oslo fjord since it takes 2 hours to get there. Disappointed that we paid for a tour which was described as a fjord cruise. We were confused as to why the boat was named Fjord, the tour was sold as if it would include the fjord but .... Also the pick up point was not clearly described or marked. There was no sign on the bus stops. Several people including us, ran around feeling anxious as to where to find the bus! The guide was knowledgeable and personable, although occasionally was difficult to understand. I would recommend this tour with these issues in mind.
- 167racheller00Trafalgar tours a waste of time and money. The tour was with Trafalgar and was a 19 day Britain and Ireland Panorama. It was a very unorganized tour. The hotels we stayed at were at the outer parts of the city. We arrived to the hotels late and there were no pubs close to the hotels and the museums were already closed. The tour guide we had was less than mediocre.
- MinnesotaHomeGrown00Our Oslo TourWe really enjoyed the tour! It was nice to see so many places as we are only here for 3 days. Our tour guide did an excellent job of showing us around and telling us about the city!
- AnnaJoPetaluma00Good overall first outing in OsloWe especially liked the areas outside the city center. We got off the bus at the ski jump, the sculpture garden, and Fram museum. Also loved the boat ride. Main problem was the bus’ sound system through the earphones. Our guide, Christopher, was very knowledgeable but soft spoken and even at maximum we had a hard time hearing him. Granted we are older with aides. When he just talked through the main sound system, no problem. The bus tour through town was as expected, just ok with earphones but the highlight was the wonderful walk through the Sculpture garden with his very helpful guidance. We understand so much better what we were seeing. Would have enjoyed a couple view photo stops. The next day we had a very good idea as to how to continue enjoying this lovely city based upon this overview.
- 255shabnamh00Amazing!The guide was very knowledgeable and funny as well as taking us to the best places in Oslo. The fjord tour was also very good and fun.
- sridhar_katta00Great experience but ditch the Fjord tourI would give five stars for the tour and 4.5 stars for the Fjord tour. If I’d known that Fjord tours in Oslo are not so scenic, I’d have spent my time and money elsewhere. However, the cruise ship was luxurious. It was apparently all electric which was amazing. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. We loved the grand city tour. They covered the Ski jump arena and two museums between 10 am to 3:30 pm. The tour guide also narrated history of Norway in a nutshell which was nice.
- Culture6412973152500Oslo is a great city to visit. We give 4 out of 5 because we feel our tour guid is below our expectation. Maybe next time we can meet a better one.
- V9799ATkimm00Grand Tour of Oslo was GREATLoved our Tour. We saw so many things, learned so much, and the timing of each activity was perfect. It was a great way to see Oslo and learn about its history in a fun and informative way. It's a long day with time to grab a quick sandwich/snack along the way. I especially loved learning about the sculpture garden - without the tour guide it would not have been nearly as interesting! The unhosted/unguided boat tour was a perfect way to end the day relaxing on the water with wonderful views. Such a good day!
- karenkK5266XL00Wonderful!Our guide was excellent! We saw a lot in one full day and became well acquainted with Oslo. I highly recommend it!
- Pactx00Great way to see Oslo in a day!Nice trip. The guide was very knowledgeable and explained the city highlights well. They did a nice job to juggle the schedule around the rain.
- VasantN400Excellent Guided TourVery good tour overall, particularly as the guide was excellent. The cruise was a bit underwhelming, could have skipped.
- Canada500000Disappointing Oslo City TourTook this tour today and was sorely disappointed as I had expected a relaxing guided tour only to have it spoiled by disruptive children and their loud parents. Driver and guide were very good but appeared helpless despite asking for silence . In addition 20 minutes of this your were taken to check these people in in a stop at the Copenhagen ferry.
- Docintherock00Excellent tourFantastic tour with a great review of the history of Oslo. The stops with walks and museum tours were well spaced out, and there were several opportunities to get food/drink along the way. The fjord cruise was the perfect ending. The whole tour was about 7.5 hours which makes for a long day, so just be prepared. I highly recommend it.

The context provided by our tour guide added to our experience in spite of a little rain.
Christian “ Chris” the history nerd gave us plenty to think about that enhanced our understanding of the park, museums, architecture and history of Oslo, Norway.

Excellent guide. Good overview of the city. We saw a lot in 5 hours, but wished for even more time. Although we had seen most of the sights before, we learned many new things because of our guide Christopher.

Great way to get a blush around the city during the 5 hour trip. The stops were informative. The guide imparted knowledge stories of oslo history, events, and tips where to go to see the most at each stop. Bus is comfortable. Ear plugs provided with good audio system. Very enjoyable. Would recommend to my friends.

Even with rain the tour delivered all that we expected. As the tour guide quoted Norway does not have bad weather only bad clothing.

Tour was very nice, gave lots of historical perspective on Norwegian history and culture. You start on a Double Decker bus, get dropped off at the Olympic Ski jump. Although you do not have time to go all the way up the jump, just looking up and taking pictures was enough. Then on to the Garden of Vigland, which I loved. The weather was great. Our tour guide gave lots of specific information about the statues, that we would have never known about otherwise. Then, picked up by the bus and taken to The Outdoor Folk Museum and Fram Museum. Again, all very educational. My teenage sons were very intrigued with both the outdoor village and then the Fram ship. We walked around the ship, then headed home. Again, well worth the money, guide was excellent, highly recommend!

We had a great tour guide who was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had the 5-hour tour and it was beautiful. We were only in Oslo for a few days so we wanted to see as much as possible and this tour helped us with that.

Hi, we are in the holland America cruise, arriving at 8:00 am and leaving at 5:00 pm. Is this tour feasible for us to take and be back early in time to the ship? Is the departure and arriving location near the pier where the ship will be?

While they say it’s a discovery tour, most of the time is spent in the four venues which are outside of the main City Center. I liked the tour, but it was more like a 2nd or 3rd day event. There is a lot of time allotted to the ship museums; one about the race to the North and South Pole, and the interior of a ship. Interesting and informative and very well done, but very esoteric for a one day allotment of your day exposure and certainly not the stature Tower of London or the Louvre museum, the Met or Smithsonian, either. The other museum was about Viking ships used as burial sites, but not nearly as amazing as the pyramids and very decomposed. The ski jump and cross country venue was hopping in January, but I don’t know what it would be like in June. The sculpture park was interesting but repetitive and not of a world renown artist such as Michelangelo or Rodin. I had never heard of the artist and can’t remember his name now. They didn’t include him in my Art History classes in college. It had a somewhat overbearing sexual connotation that was a bit much, even for a guy. The tour doesn’t define Oslo, except for maybe the ski jump. But not a waste of time, just not what you would go to on the first day, in my opinion.
I struggled greatly with the public transportation system. The T bahn, or Metro is better than the buses or trams to figure out, but very anxiety provoking with most of the stops in the places you’d want to go in and around the city, transfer hubs to other lines going both ways. Nothing as easy LONDON or DC or New York to figure out. So I wouldn’t even try to figure that out unless you studied it way in advance and even then, it is like a maze. The cabs and Ubers are a major investment for very short distances, but may be a time saver.
I think I would stick near the Central Train Station and take the free walking tour at 10:00 am daily to get an orientation and do some homework on what else interests you, all close to each other. There are a ton of venues that define Oslo more than ship museums for a good overview of the City. The Munch museum, Nobel Prize venue, the National Opera to name a few would be much more memorable for a one-day exposure to a very fascinating city, unlike any I have been to before. Summer is packed with tourists and very expensive but winter has very little daylight but a very nice visit if you like a true winter, and less crowded and pretty affordable, really.
Use your time wisely, but choose the tour if you don’t have a clue about the city and don’t want to get lost or filled with anxiety. There aren’t a plethora of choices, either. The streets don’t run parallel in north, south, east and west orientation and my GPS didn’t work with their network, so make sure you arrange cell phone coverage ahead of time and pray that it works. I spent a lot of time walking around in circles, so the tour was nice in that regard, but not something I would want to do on a one day stop, if I had a choice and had done some homework ahead of time.

During the visit to Holmkollen Ski Museum,, is there enough time there to allow us to go to the top of the ski jump or try the ski simulator?

It's a very full tour. A quick cup of coffee and if available a muffin or small pastry as we recall was all the time available in the Viking Ship.
