Meet your guide and travel companions in central Oslo and, after a short safety briefing, pick out your bicycle and climb aboard. Pedal down Karl Johans gate, Oslo's main city street, past the yellow-brick parliament building (Storting) and 19th-century National Theatre before weaving your way down old cobblestoned streets toward the old shipyards of Aker Bygge to admire the harbor views. Continuing onward, you'll cruise past neoclassical buildings with vibrantly decorated facades before coming across the Renaissance fortress of Akershus Castle. Enjoy a refreshing drink here (at own expense) before carrying on toward the Royal Palace, the official residence of Norway's king. Next, take a look at the intricate murals inside Oslo City Hall, as well as the room in which the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded each year. After pedaling to Frognerparken, you have some free time to take in the sights and leisurely vibe of Oslo's biggest public park, loved by locals, and to check out the numerous open-air sculptures by Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland. Refreshed, you'll then pedal back to your original departure point in central Oslo where your tour ends.

A must do experience in Oslo
A must do experience in Oslo. Our tour guide Freddy’s English was excellent and he provided the perfect balance of humour and history along the tour. The bikes were easy to ride, the roads were clear and the attractions were interesting. He gave our group plenty of time to take pictures and walk around each stop along the way. If you’re looking for a tour of Oslo, this bike tour is the one for you!

    Three hour bike tour
Viking biking was a great find. We enjoyed a three hour bike tour around the great sights of Oslo with tour guide Jon. Jon told us many facts and kept us well entertained through the whole tour. The route is gentle and enjoyable for all ages.

    Amazing Bike Tour of Oslo
Lars was an incredible guide for our private bike tour of Oslo. His insight as a resident of Norway and also having lived abroad was enlightening. We were able to get a feel for many different aspects of Oslo. Thank you.

    Great tour
The tour was very fun. Jon & Martin were our guides. We learned a lot about the fjord islands and they also adapted the tour to the individual needs of the participants. My highlight was the jump in the warm fjord during heavy rain with our guide Jon!

Island Hopping in Oslo a must do tour
If in Oslo I would highly recommend this tour. Our leaders Martin and Jon were extremely knowledgeable about each of the islands. It was so much fun learning how three islands so close together could be so different. You had the option of either bringing your own, or stopping at a small store on the island to buy your lunch. We chose the store and the recommendations that Martin made for lunch were fantastic. Learning the nuances of the cottages was truly fascinating. There was also time available for those who were interested in swimming at one of the islands. We had a fantastic time and would like to thank our guides Martin and Jon for making it such a wonderful experience.

    Viking Biking is the Best
One of the best ways to see beautiful Oslo. Jon took a group of 14 around the city for 3 hours extolling the beauty of the city. We spoke of history, culture, politics, etc. We are in our 70's and had no trouble keeping up except for one short hill. They are located IN the cruise port and are convenient to downtown. Highly recommended.

    Outstanding bike tour from Lars
Lars was our guide and he was terrific! We are an active family of four visiting Oslo. We signed up for this private bike tour. Lars gave us a wonderful tour of Oslo and we were able to see the major sights. His discussion of the history of the city of Oslo and Norwegian culture was insightful. His English was excellent (but with a British accent!). He also gave us some additional tips about restaurants and things to see that were appreciated. We recommend Lars and Viking Biking and Hiking group enthusiastically!

    Great budget friendly tour!
This was the first tour we did in Norway and it set a high standard. Our guide Christian was very knowledgeable and friendly. He had great facts about each area we toured. The walking was not too strenous, and the views were amazing. The only downsides were that we went on a Monday, so the Cafe was closed and it was a little too chilly for swimming.

    "Technically not a fjord"
John and trainee Kat were awesome guides on today's tour. Experts in Oslo's history, geology and culture they were able to answer our tricky questions while keeping us entertained! Great way to see Norwegians' love of nature easily accessible from the hustle of Oslo's downtown.

    We are liking Viking Biking!
On our first trip to Oslo, we decided to take this wonderful, informative bicycle tour to see the sites and learn about the city. We made the right choice! Sanne was our guide for the day and she was fun, knowledgeable and friendly. She made everyone feel welcome and made sure to spend time with each individual along the route. The ride is easy for most folks and the bikes were in really good condition. (We’ve been on similar tours with really lousy bikes provided!) If you are visiting Oslo for the first time, we highly recommend Viking Biking/Viking Hiking! As an added note, the following day on a food tour, we met two couples who had just taken the bike tour and they had had just as wonderful a time as we had. Thank you Sanne and Viking Biking! You Rock!

    Interesting island life experience
A nice way to see another side of Oslo, with some historical background added to the experience. Well organized, we had nice weather, overall an interesting experience I would recommend to anyone. It's not too difficult, unless you have some injuries, an average, not too fit person will manage just fine.

I always try to do a tour like this as soon after arrival in a new place to give me an overview and help me decide places I’d like to return and explore longer. Oslo is a great place to cycle in as Curtis, the tour guide and owner said everyone is relaxed and laid back and as the greenest capital city in the world it’s a fantastic way to traverse parts of the city. The majority of it was on a level so no hills for those concerned who may not have been on a bike in a while like myself. It’s very doable. I love hearing facts about the city and country from a local and little tips they may have about places to go/eat. You also do get off the bike at points to explore. For instance, I would not have ventured inside the city hall had I just walked past yet that would have been a huge mistake as it’s truly beautiful inside. I won’t say too much about what you’ll find out cycling around but rather hope you decide to take the tour and find out. You won’t regret it. An ideal way to spend 3 hours appreciating this lovely city.

Thank you for the informative review with some great pictures! As we are getting back to business after a very quiet two years, we really appreciate such reviews which offer a real insight to future customers about what our bike tours offer. And taking the extra time to add some photos was a nice touch and I am sure other TripAdvisor users will appreciate them. I am so glad you enjoyed your time on tour, as well as the rest of your stay in Oslo. Thanks for joining! Best regards, Curtis

What a very nice trip through Oslo’s better areas. We got a complete new view on parts of Oslo in this 12km bike tour. It is truly the best way to get to know a large city. This teams will take you de turkeys back in time but also to the new and modern parts of the city.

Bikes are of very good quality and two guides per group make sure that everyone is ok. We liked it a lot.

Thank you for the nice review and we are always happy when our customers point out that the bikes are very good quality. We work hard to keep them up to standard, with regular services, pumping, oiling, etc. That makes the whole experience better. Best regards, Curtis

If you want to cover quite a bit of ground while in Oslo, this is definitely a great option. You get to see most of the major sites of the city with knowledgeable guides who will provide you with plenty of tips for your time in the city should you want them. And for those who are worried about safety, the city is very bike friendly and very safe to bike in.

Thank you for the great review and we are always happy when customers share their opinion on how safe Oslo is for biking. It is one of the great features of the tour: a relaxing feel, with almost no traffic, even in the heart of the capital city. Best regards, Curtis

We went on the Viking Biking bike tour on Sunday 2 July and had a great time. Our guide Jon (not John 😃) was excellent and a great source of information about Oslo.

Cycling around central Oslo is so easy, there’s almost no traffic and the city is set up for bikes, scooters etc.

The tour was a good mix of easy cycling and stopping at points of interest, with Jon sharing info along the way.

The only negative was the rain, which was pretty constant but that wasn’t anyone’s fault!

I would definitely recommend this tour if you are visiting Oslo. 🚲😃🇳🇴

Hello! And thank you for taking the time to leave a wonderful review. I agree, Oslo is a delightfully peaceful city with exceptionally quiet roads -- perfect for biking around and seeing some beautiful locations. I am glad to hear that I made the experience enjoyable for you, despite the bucketing rainfall! I hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday in Norway. Best wishes, Jon (not John 😃 ).

Fantastic tour of Oslo - we only had 2 days in the city but this is sooooo worthwhile doing as ALL the major sights are covered with plenty of time for wandering around each one for photos and grabbing a coffee etc. Excellent start to get your bearings, especially if only staying for a couple of days like us. Stina/Steena (sorry, not sure of spelling), was a fabulous guide and we came away feeling we'd learnt so much about this beautiful city. She also gave us some tips after the tour for our second day exploring.

Super entertaining tour, guided by the owner of Viking Bike Tours. He was enthusiastic and quite knowledgeable about Norway’s culture and history.
The tour went through some of the city’s landmarks, such as City Hall, the Royal Palace and Vigeland Sculptures Park, and also residential neighborhoods that we wouldn’t otherwise visit.
We have take bike tours in several cities around the world, and this was the best do far.

Nice biking tour of Oslo to see the highlights. You meet the guides at the Viking Biking garage on the back end of the Ferry Terminal to the southeast/east of the Fort. Miki was our guide and did an excellent job. The ride goes for a couple hours and you see alot with stops along the ride to take pics, bathroom breaks, etc.. Only recommendation is make sure you how to ride a bike (i.e. can pedal uphill, change gears, etc.) and bring appropriate rain gear as it comes and goes and sometimes the tour doesn't stop under shelter.

Miki is a great guide and that is an excellent tip about bringing appropriate weather gear as the weather in Norway can at time be unpredictable. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your time here. Bikes were in good shape with multiple gears, fenders and a bag for storing things. We stopped at the main sights in the western part of the city and had enough time for pictures at each spot. The Vigeland sculpture park was the highlight for us. Highly recommend this tour.

We only had an afternoon in Oslo and the bike tour was a great way to get a feel for the city and cover a decent amount of ground. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Was nice to give our feet a break from walking everywhere. If you have more time in Oslo, the tour will give you an overview and help you decide where to spend your time.
