- Eimiii0 contributionsGreat experience! It was an amazing experience! The team was very knowledgeable and nice. It was very nice driving around with the boat and explore Tromsø from a different perspective. We caught a lot of fish and had a nice lunch on board as well as could take some of the fish home.Written February 11, 2025

- Mabel19950 contributionsThe best trip in Tromso - Just do it!!We went on this trip on 1st December for my birthday - WOW!!!!! Hermes II is a beautiful boat, the crew are just incredible. We were the only 2 Brits onboard but everyone was very friendly. We caught a Ling and Pollock which the crew cooked for us and was delicious. We were also lucky to see 2 Sea Eagles who came down by the boat to get fish. If you do nothing else in Tromso do this! Only about 20 people onboard and just the best time ever!!! Thank you to the Hermes II crew - you are special people :)Written December 5, 2024
- adamgS6048ED0 contributionsWould go again just to enjoy the company of the crew.My first trip was cancelled due to weather and the timely response for the rebooking was without a problem and very quick. Crew was absolutely incredible. Answered all questions I had about anything and everything Tromso and Norway. Even tho it was what I would consider a small group everyone caught fish. Great trip for someone that wants to experience jig fishing or a first time fishing trip. I honestly can’t say enough about the crew onboard.Written October 30, 2024
- hunnybunx0 contributionsAhoy mate! Hermes 2 is calling you!I love it! Totally no clue what to expect. Only saw the offering when I walked past the shop. The team, led by Trulst(sp.. Sorry!) was very customer oriented. They saw to our needs and I cld tell they have high level of safety precautions in place. The wildlife sighting was cool, the history and stories about Tromso(WW2, Hermes) were even better. Great activity!Written October 26, 2024

- 353andik0 contributionsAmazing historic tour with Hermes II and crew - must try!!We took the History Fjord Cruise with Hermes II and we had a fantastic time! The tour took 2,5 hours and the weather was also in our favor, beautiful sunshine and clear sky! The crew of the ship was very-very friendly, we spotted some harbour seals and eagles on our way, and we could even go to the captain' cabin and try to wheel the ship!! The whole experience couldn't have been better, the crew was fantastic, they were very eager to show us everything and to let us know about the 107 year-old ship's history! On the way we had a nice cup of blackcurrant juice (or coffee/tea) and a hot fish pie! I would absolutely recommend this tour as it was heartwarming to hear the stories from the crew who live and die for their local environment and made sure everyone feels safe and satisfied with the tour!Written October 21, 2024

- davidwL5262YR0 contributionsHermes 2 riding soloReally enjoyed this, especially being on my own riding solo! Straight from the start the crew are chatty, welcoming, friendly and all have a great sense of humour. We were all mixed into groups of 3 for the fishing which was at multiple locations through the trip. Regular stories throughout about the local history and the history of the boat and recommendations for the area and different parts of Norway. Thank you so much for an excellent trip.Written August 23, 2024
- madisonhA5818NG0 contributionsGreat activity while visiting the cityMy husband and I did the 1 hour trip. There was only one other couple on the boat so it felt like a private excursion. The guides were really friendly and knowledgeable about Tromsø and the surrounding areas. It was a perfect mix of scenery and history. The boat is beautiful too! Highly recommend.Written August 7, 2024
- Luci_J_M0 contributionsIf You Like Fishing, This Is The Excursion For You!My husband really enjoys fishing. I don't care for it quite as much as him, but whenever we go on a vacation I always try to book a fishing trip for us and I always catch something! This excursion was no exception because we both caught more cod than we could count and then we got to eat them too! I even caught two cod at once! The ship was beautiful, the crew was extremely helpful and the scenery was magnificent! I tend to get seasick, but I did not on this cruise because the water of the fjords was not rough and the boat wasn't bouncing up and down. It was a very smooth ride. I did take an anti-nausea pill just to be safe. It was very cold and the wind was biting, but if you were dressed properly, it didn't matter. I was dressed very warmly, so I stayed in my own clothes, but my husband chose to use their one piece outerwear for extreme weather and he said he actually felt too warm at times. The crew assigns you to places around the ship and they are right on the spot to add bait to your line and to take off the fish you've caught. The keepers they clean and cook for us, the smaller fish they throw back to live another day or to be caught in the circle of life as food for the seagulls and the eagles that follow the ship. The crew was also extremely helpful in suggesting restaurants in Tromso and food to try. A delicacy is grilled stockfish, which is cod that has been dried, then rehydrated and then grilled. It was delicious and has more protein than any other fish - look it up! We also discovered tea made with black currant syrup that the Norwegians grow up on and again, it is delicious. The thin bread crisps are unlike anything we've had in the states, but we found them at Trader Joe's because we are hooked on them. There are toilets on the ship and places to sit down below deck to get out of the elements. Frankly, the scenery is so beautiful that you shouldn't miss it by staying below as long as you are dressed properly and if you didn't bring something warm enough, the crew will supply you with warm outerwear. If we make it back to Norway, we would do this excursion again in a heartbeat! Thank you to the captain and crew of the Hermes II for such a memorable adventure!Written July 19, 2024
- John L0 contributionsSuccessful outing for all including the fish eagles! This was a perfect end to a cruise north from Oslo.It was very easy to find after getting off our cruise. Crew members were making final preparations and were welcoming. This was one of the last remaking 1917 trawlers built to save lives in sometimes dangerous waters. It was in tip top shape with modern equipment and very clean. Caught fish for ourselves and the local fish eagles. AAAWritten June 22, 2024

On Thursday 4th January 2024 we came across Hermes II due to a dilemma caused by another Whale watching Company.
Our 4 day trip to Tromso was for my 40th Birthday and a trip that had been arranged for 18 months with the highlight being Whale watching….
The night before our original trip we went to look at the meeting place in the harbour where we were advised to be at for 8:30am on the Thursday Morning. We arrived early on the day and strangely no boat could be seen…….
We asked around the Harbour and showed the documentation to one particular Boat Captain who was puzzled as the boat for the original company wasn’t there?!
We went to the Hermes II shop where we contacted the original company and it turned out that the information provided was wrong and their Boat had already departed at 8am.
What happened next and throughout that day was incredible and some of the finest customer service we have ever had. Luckily the Captain that we spoke to was the Captain of the Jib for Hermes who allowed us to join them!
The trip overall was outstanding and even if it was alittle more expensive, the experience was exceptional on a VERY quick Boat. Upon arrival to the Whale feeding grounds after 80 minutes travel we were greeted with Fin Whales and Humpback. The crew provided on awesome experience, their knowledge and enthusiasm was infectious which rescued our initial poor start!
On arrival back to the shop at the end of the trip, we were reassured that they had contacted our travel company and the company who let us down and they were dealing with the monies and grievance.
Never have we been so grateful to the guys on the Jib and those in the shop for rescuing our trip!
