      3 day cruise to nowhere
We booked a 3 night cruise to Guernsey but the weather was too bad to lower the tenders so the one and only port was aborted. The cruise turned into a staycation cruise. I have a disability so the small ship suited me as I cannot cope with the large ships anymore, I had booked an excursion and P & O could have given me more information because I found out that I could take my rollator on the tender but not on the coach. They told me I had to do a step test to prove I could get on the tender but forgot to mention that I had to go down 15 steps to get to the tender. As we did not get off none of this mattered but I have written to them about the lack of information. The entertainment was good, there was an excellent rock and roll band who were very talented musicians, The food was ok. Our balcony cabin was also ok, did not like the configuration very much and did not like the fact I had to climb into the bath to have a shower, very difficult for me. Word of warning: Be aware that our cabin 103 on deck 10 was next to the Piano suite and was occupied by someone who could not play the piano. It drove me mad so I turned the sound on the TV to 35 and that stopped the piano racket instantly

Brilliantly relaxing cruise in an amazing landscape
Cannot recommend this enough. The crew are all friendly, knowledgeable and approachable, the catamaran is practically silent and gives such a smooth ride you barely notice, the views are incredible, and the food and drink is ideal. Four and a half hours flew by!

This tour was a fantastic way to see the surrounding landscape for an evening cruise. The staff were kind and knowledgeable and the boat was beautiful. Highly recommend!

      Cloudy but still great
The weather wasn't perfect, sadly there was partial cloud, but I'd highly recommend this trip. Sophie was helpful, ran the bar, made the announcements and generally guided us through the natural and human made (WW2) history around the Fjords. The Brimm explorer is a hybrid electric/diesel boat. Despite the cloud there were great views and a stop half way to see some fishing equipment and a tasting.

      Nice Fjord tour
Nice scenic Tromso Fjord tour with about 20 people for 4 hours. Saw the fjords and the fish factory. Not too expensive. Booked it from Tromso Visitor center.

      Great experience
This was an amazing experience and the perfect way to round off the last day of my trip. The weather was beautiful and we were fortunate enough to see the midnight sun over the mountains on this trip. The crew were excellent, accommodating, attentive and made special effort to point out any wildlife in the area, such as razorbills, eider ducks and a sea eagle. I really enjoyed learning about the local wildlife and the history of the local area and the islands we passed along the way. Christopher was a great host and shared a lot of great local and environmental knowledge. Thanks, keep it classy!

      Wow
We were blessed with a calm sea, a cloudless sky, and not a puff of wind, but if the weather had been rotten, I'd still give a perfect review, because the crew were so approachable, knowledgeable, and friendliable. The boat was amazing, the sights were outstanding, and the info was enlightening on tromso, and the maritime and fishing history. Frieda, the tour guide was engaging, entertaining and clearly seemed to enjoy her job, which all added to the experience. Saying that, all of the crew were happy to answer questions they've no doubt been asked many times before and did so with enthusiasm. In case it's not clear, I would thoroughly recommend going on this trip

      A novel experience
Tromso is where people go in the hope of seeing the Northern Lights. That was us too but we soon learned that our timing was off and the weather was against us so we went in search of other things to do. We chose this cruise after speaking to some of the local travel guides and given the weather, shopping aside there didn't seem to be a lot more to do. The weather on the day of our cruise was not great (to say the least) but we still enjoyed exploring the fjords (the sun came out briefly as we ran into the ice sheets), and learning about the way people live, eat and work in this challenging environment. The heavy snowfall which began mid morning was quite a novelty for us though it did make walking around on the deck a little risky. And given the conditions we didn't see any wildlife apart from a porpoise or two off in the foggy distance. But none of this was the the cruise operators fault, and the staff were great. Making the best of the challenging conditions, they persevered with the onshore presentations and made sure everyone was safe getting on and off the boat as the weather deteriorated. It was freezing on the island but it was interesting to see the fishing facility and drying racks and to have the opportunity to taste some of the fish.

      Impressive Arctic Fjord Cruise
Impressive safari in the icy Fjord. The crews are friendly and well demonstrate the Safety instructions, as well as the attractions we stopped. Brim explorer make our tourism know more about local environment and features. Though we really want to step on the glacier and the seal was so far away, this arctic fjord cruise still impress us.

The Best tour through the artic fjords
Taking the tour through the fjords with this company was spectacular. From the moment we arrived the crew was very friendly, especially Hanna and Claire. We saw beautiful landscapes, we ate a delicious typical soup, they took us to a place where they told us a little about the marine life that lives in those places, we were able to see some animals in their habitat. Actually the whole experience is a must do if you go to Tromso. We are very grateful to Claire and Hanna who were excellent guides at all times. It was an experience that exceeded what I expected and one that I would definitely highly recommend!

      Exceptional Sights, Excellent Guides!
The half-day Arctic Fjord cruise tour from Tromsø was far better than I initially expected! The ride was comfortable, with enough space to move about. What was most surprising, however, was the outstanding narration by Brim guides Fred and Fria. While on the boat, and during a brief stop to a fishery, they provided interesting and fun historical, cultural, and scientific information to the sights we enjoyed. It was a beautiful and educational tour!

      Wonderful!
This was an informative tour, with lots of beautiful scenery. Our guides Frank and Frida were excellent and carried a lot of knowledge. Overall I thought it was a great privilege to see the fjords. As someone who has lived in a city my whole life, being able to see untouched beauty was such a privilege. Would definitely recommend if you want to have ample time to take in some new sites whilst learning about the history and ecology!

This was a lovely tour (stunning in fact) of the Fjords however I have reviewed this purely for what it is sold as, I.e. whale watching. We arrived at Skjervoy (where the whales feed/are sighted) at 11:44am and departed at 12:24pm. Considering the cost of this trip I expected more than 40 minutes looking for whales. We did see an orca from very far away and also a fin whale from even further away (the crew said it was a humpback or fin) but ultimately we came away disappointed with what we saw. You can’t argue with it being a 3.5 hour trip each way and this is clearly stated however I was surprised to have had so little time to look for whales given everyone on board had spent a lot and was happy to participate in a 7 hour round sail to get there. Several members of the crew had very large lenses and captured amazing pics, much better than most and I feel it should be part of the service that these are shared with the paying customer. All other whale watching tours I have done this has been the case. Again, this trip should probably be sold as a “fjord tour” and if you see whales then it’s a bonus. All the crew very friendly the only complaint was how rushed it was at the spot where the whales usually feed. This is nature you have to be patient but this element was completely rushed. As soon as the captain had seen an orca it was box ticked and time to turn around.

I had a wonderful time today on the Brim Explorer. Our host, Karolina, was extremely adept, managing the comfort and safety of an entire vessel full of passengers as well as educating us about whales and the climate of northern Norway. The educational aspect of the tour stood out to me in particular - the crew made sure to stress that we were guests in the habitat of the whales, and that we wouldn't approach beyond a safe and respectful distance. Luckily, the whales seemed to be curious about our vessel, and as we sat silently in the water, they approached us and swam directly under the boat!

I also very much appreciated the additional perspective of Indigenous people in the educational portions of the tour. There was such a focus on treating the wildlife with reverence and respect that I couldn't help but feel like the whales rewarded us by coming so close. The presence of other, clearly less respectful tours (that ultimately drove the whales out of the area) made me very happy to be amongst such a thoughtful crew and tour.

The boat was excellent, with comfortable seating, great restrooms, and delicious coffee and soup. The ride was very comfortable, and even when the seas got choppy, I never felt unsafe or unsteady. This is the kind of tour I would be happy to revisit with additional friends in the future.

The trip was as beautiful as we had imagined it. We left while still dark outside and slowly discovered the beautiful landscape around as the pinkish morning light coloured the sky. There were two boats leaving from the same spot and we chose the less crowded one, which we didn't regret at all. It had rotating chairs instead of sofas, but they were comfortable enough throughout the trip. We stood on the upper deck, as it was recommended for better views. The only little disturbance for us was when music started to play, initially a bit too loud, as we'd have preferred to enjoy the trip and views in silence for a little longer. But the volume was soon lowered and it got better. Giulia, our guide, was a cheerful presence and communicated with us a lot. She taught us how to spot the whales and gave us plenty of interesting information throughout the trip. We got a bit nervous as we approached the whale area, because in the first spot where they had seen them in the previous days, the sea was too wavy and we had to cross it, not being able to stay there and wait for the whales to show up. But apparently that was not the main whale watching spot, so as we went further, to a calmer sea, we finally started to see them. We saw several humpback whales, two of which got close enough to the boat, and many more orcas. It was a magnificent and emotional sight. And it helped to know that the silent boat engine was making our presence a little bit less intrusive than that of the other boats around us.

On the way back we enjoyed a lovely vegetarian soup and some desserts, more info on the whale species we had just seen and the dimming light of a beautiful, beautiful day.

We were extremely happy with the whole experience. Totally totally worth it!

    Cons:
Time spent travelling. It states 6-8hours on the website, however it doesn't state that this 6-8hours consists of a known 3.5hour trip out to where the whales are feeding that year (which changes every four years based on the herring), actual whale watching for 40mins and a 3.5hour return journey. This should be advertised better.

Finding somewhere to sit was a little chaotic. The boat was packed and people had to confront others to remove bags from seats etc to make room. Assigned seating would solve this problem and improve contract tracing for Covid close contacts.

The Covid safety measures were shockingly bad. Staff wore face masks, however, passengers we're not required to wear face masks. With 120-130 people aboard the boat I was on that day, I'd say about 20% were wearing masks indoors. I saw one bottle of hand sanitizer on the whole boat. The safety talk did not include Covid safety measures (detailing people should wear masks and use the one bottle of hand sanitizer provided). Covid safety measures should be improved with assigned seating (table numbers) for improved contact tracing, the provision of hand sanitizer at each table, regular sanitisation of hand rails and the compulsory wearing of masks indoors at least when the boat is at full passenger capacity and you cannot physically distance. I did not feel safe there. I tried to stay outdoors for most of the trip but it was too cold to do so on the return journey.

    Pros:
We saw humpback and orca whales which was fantastic. The crew didn't disturb the whales by getting too close which I liked. The views during daylight heading out we're breathtaking.

The boat was comfortable and warm indoors.

The presentation and information surrounding the whales was great and broke up the return journey. The guys do seem passionate and knowledgeable and we're very polite and friendly. They were very open to questions from passengers.

I really hope the company takes Covid safety measures more seriously, or at least advertises what to expect. The website states it complies with requirements at the time. However, requirements and circumstances change very quickly. The basics of mask wearing and sanitisation should be followed regardless of local requirements considering the indescriminate and potentially deadly nature of this virus.

Would really recommend anyone staying in Tromso heading out with Kim, Mikhail and the rest of the Brim Explorer crew. The boat being a modern hybrid electric catamaran is quiet, stable, clean and comfortable with 3 decks so you can choose where you want to be. Having said that it really doesn't matter because as soon as anyone spots a whale everyone rushes outside to get photos! There are modern bathrooms on board and you can buy food and drink, quite reasonably priced for Norway or take your own. The crew are great at providing just enough interesting commentary at various points through the journey. Yes you have to sail for about 3 hours there and 3 hours back to the bay beyond Skjervoy so it's quite a long way but we were amply rewarded by multiple sightings of minke, fin and humpback whales, some really close to the boat. This feels like a responsible company and a day out of the water in the company of nature's giants is always one of life's truly amazing highlights.

We did the silent whale tour and loved it. The boat is super clean and new, it’s also warm. The layout is good and it has a bar/cafe serving a few cakes and snacks and lovely whale themed hot chocolates. I didn’t know what to expect by the boat but it exceeded my expectations. The Whales themselves were great, we had a pod of 70-100 killer whales.
The two tour guides were excellent, giving whale and location information on and off throughout the day, they clearly love their job and the Whales. We are a family of four, 2 adults and a 10 and 13 year old.
I would recommend the day trip to anyone who has an interest in nature/whales.

This was by far one of the most memorable experiences I have ever made while traveling. I was a bit skeptical first to book the tour because I thought it was a bit expensive and there is the risk of not actually seeing any whales. However, I decided to give it a go and it is one of the best decisions I ever made! The landscape the boat passes through on its way to the whales is simply breathtaking, I have never seen something so beautiful in my life. Only for that in my opinion it would be already worth it. The guides on the boat were so friendly and funny, and the presentations by Aline and Frédéric were extremely interesting and educating. Then, we spotted both humpback and killer whales and thanks to the silent motor of the boat we came really close and admired them as they were right in front of us, even jumping out of the water sometimes! Even my partner who had already done whale watching in the past was impressed because he never saw them from that close. On our way back, we enjoyed some really delicious soup that was provided on the boat together with other drinks and snacks. Everything was simply perfect! I heartily recommend this to anyone who travels to Tromsø!

We were lucky enough to see lots whales, orcas and eagles on our trip but I think even if you do not see much wildlife this would be a beautiful trip through the fjords. Remember that nature is unpredictable and the guides cannot guarantee what you will see.
Karoline is an excellent guide. She told us loads of great information and stories and was comfortably communicating with all of the guests, answering questions and making conversation. Props to the guy on bar service who gave an excellent show of putting on the minion life jacket.
There is food and drinks available to buy on board for a reasonable price and water is provided.
The trip to Skjervoy is long and you should be prepared for that. 3.5 hours each way but it´s necessary to get where the whales are. Take snacks and blankets - most people are sleeping on the way back. Reschedule for a clearer, calmer day if you get sea sick. Go in November if you want more light (we have no sun in December).
Brim does not go chasing the whales on purpose. You will see them from a distance which is the most respectful way to view wildlife. The smaller boats go too close to the animals and cause them to move away.
An excellent company which I look forward to booking more tours with in the future, thanks Brim!

This experience was amazing. The boat is very comfortable, with a great bar serving food and drink and amazing views from wherever you are on the boat. The actual boat itself turns silent when you approach the orca area, which means they are uninterrupted and tend to approach you. This is much better than the smaller boats as you can really see that you are not affecting them or chasing them away.

We had the most amazing and magical experience.

The staff are incredible and so knowledgeable and we cannot thank them enough!
