- Christian P0 contributionsAmazing, we will be back!!Thank you for an awesome day! Girlfriend and I had an amazing time ice fishing. We caught a decent amount of fish and quite a few keepers! We had the fish we caught for lunch, and some fish burgers, which were also amazing. GF also got to try some roasted marshmallows for the first time as well (which she loved). Definitely some core memories unlocked : ) This was definitely the highlight of my trip to Tromso Norway, and will definitely be back with Steph in the future!Written January 12, 2025
- samanthafZ5912RK0 contributionsThe Greatest Snoeshoeing ExperienceStayed in Tromso for a couple of days and decided to take on this activity with a friend of mine. It was the best decision we have made as it was the most fun and enjoyable experience ever! It was my first time snowshoeing and it was pretty easy to get the hang of it but as you get higher towards the hills it does get a bit tiring. So that is something to consider if you do get tired easily. Nonetheless, i had the best time enjoying the views and learning from Karin talk about the interesting things of Tromso. Going uphill was a journey but the views in the end were very rewarding. Along with that going down was so much fun as we learned how to run down the hills in the snow. If you’re in Tromso I’d say take on this adventure as it will be something that you’ll never forget!☃️ Thank you so much Karin for this awesome day! 🫶🏽Written November 9, 2024
- 944kiaram0 contributionsAmazing experience snowshoeingHad the most amazing experience today with Karin! My friend and i were looking for an adventure on our trip to tromso and the “snowshoeing with a view exceeded expectations! Pristine snowy conditions made an amazing hike up with stops for hot chocolate and chocolate at an old farmers cabin. Karin was such a joy to do the tour with, kind, patient and enjoying the experience just as much as we were. The view from the top was amazing looking out over tromso the ocean and the surrounding islands. Going down was even more fun! Karin taught us how to run in our snowshoes through the drifts we couldn’t stop laughing. Then finishing with a homemade lunch at her beautiful home made for the most amazing trip. I would highly recommend you book with this wonderful family companyWritten November 3, 2024
- ishagrawal17070 contributionsWonderful experience! Highly recommended! <3We had a great once-in-a-lifetime experience with Karin! :)) She drove us to locations with the best aurora views, captured amazing pictures of us with the northern lights and made sure that we had a wonderful time. She answered all our queries about life in and around Tromso and shared interesting stories. After the lights faded and temperatures dropped further, Karin took us to her traditional Norwegian cabin in the woods for an authentic experience with snacks & warm drinks. Also, she had all the necessary gear to make sure we are comfortable under low temperatures and while walking on ice & snow. After the tour, she dropped us to our respective accommodations as well. All-in-all, I loved Karin's warm & loving hospitality and really appreciate her skills as our northern lights guide :))Written June 9, 2024
- Urlaubskind0 contributionsBest activity during our trip - do not hesistate, BOOK if available!Karen is a incredibly sympatic person, friendly and patient. Surroundings stunning + sun shining. Lot of cod catched. Supernice barbecue in Karens Garden/Kota. we loved it so much.Written April 15, 2024
- ma_gorzataf5840 contributionsI would book againActually we did not take part in the event because my son got a fever. But based on the communication with Karin I can highly recommend Skadi Adventures, because I was offered two more occasions when we could join the fishing, and I could decide if we can join or not till the last moment before the trip. I am very grateful for the kind words and offers from Katrin, which was nothing guaranteed by the offer, just a very understanding, kind and generous approach.Written March 26, 2024
- Sunshine509558427430 contributionsperfect tourVery nice tour! We had a lot of fun and our guide Geir was fantastic. We ate delicious fish on the barbecue and Karin welcomed us into her house, with hot chocolate and chocolate. He prepared the fish and then Geir cooked it on the BBQ. Everything was perfect. thanks Skadi adventures.Written March 20, 2024
- Budoor0 contributionsMust try adventure in tromsoOut of all tours so far this is the best in tromso, excellent hosts and really good food. Fishing in the magical fjord even though we didn’t catch any fishing was a unique experience. Carving the hole, fishing and preparing food afterwords in the hut was one of a kind experience. Oh and their cat chanel was the cutest little fluff ball.Written March 18, 2024
- bridgemei0 contributionsA highlight from our trip, easily accessible and fun fishing experience! This was definitely one of the higlights of our week-long trip to Tromso Norway! Karin was so authentic and easy to work with. Communication pre-trip was great, with her reaching out via WhatsApp to field any questions or clarifications. The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish, great for beginners who have never fished before (my wife) or those just new to ice fishing in general (myself). Not everyone in our group caught a fish but the group overall caught more than we could eat. If you're staying in an Airbnb or somewhere with a kitchen, you can take the extra fish home to cook! We all went home with bellies full of delicious freshly barbecued cod and toasted marshmallows.Written March 9, 2024
- Robbie-R10 contributionsA great fishing trip and BBQWe had a great day out with Karin and our group. Pick up was really easy and we were soon heading out onto the frozen Fjord to have a go at ice fishing. Team work soon had as all drilled through the ice and fishing away. The group really had a good laugh. We caught a few nice cod and headed back to Karins bbq hut for a lovely group lunch. The venue is stunning, Karin is a fantastic, fun and friendly host and it was a 5* day as far as we were concerned. Everyone in group was really nice and we all had fun.Written March 7, 2024
- Jepski0 contributionsReally fun experienceGreat Ice Fishing experience today with Karin. I’d selected this tour at random from those available today in Tromsø and would wholeheartedly recommend even if you, like me, have no particular interest in fishing. We drove out from Tromso further up the fjord to a fully frozen area and all donned spikes (provided by Karin) to walk out onto the ice to an area well used by locals for ice fishing. Karin got out the giant drill bit (no joke) and we all had a go at drilling into the ice with different degrees of success - lucky Karin and others in our group helped out so that we all had a hole through which to fish. During our time on the ice the group caught maybe 8 fish (including a few herring), and then we all headed back to Karin’s own beautiful house and BBQ hut where Karin prepare the fish we caught and then cooked it over the heated coals in the hut. Fantastic experience, topped off with marshmallow toasting, making us all very happy. Karin is a great host and really helps the group to gel together. If I ever come back to Tromso I’ll be sure to book another of Karin’s tours.Written March 7, 2024
- michaelsenior0 contributionsA different adventureGreat trip and something different. Couple of hours fishing and then back to Karin’s house for hot drinks and BBQ of the fish. On our trip 8 people, 1 other couple and a family of 4 and all enjoyed it.Written March 1, 2024
- obidie0 contributionsAdventurous and Homey All In One!If you’re looking for an ice fishing excursion Skadi Adventure is perfect! I’m not big into fishing, and had no idea what to expect, but this ended up being one of my favorite activities in Tromso. Karin, our guide was incredibly kind and personable throughout the entire excursion. Even if you don’t catch anything she will still have food prepared, which she will prepare while inviting you into her home to eat. It started off as an outdoor activity then became a more intimate community activity as we all shared a meal together by the fire. Skadi Adventures is the perfect company if you are looking for small group tours.Written February 21, 2024
- cindywK4049GU0 contributionsWOWed by the Sightseeing Trip of the Norwegian CountrysideMy daughter, son-in-law, and I signed up for the ice fishing but the weather did not cooperate during the biggest storm in 30 decades in the area. So, we decided to do the country sightseeing tour with Skadi. We were WOWED! Karin, a local from this area was perfect as a country guide. She led us to a Norwegian hygge and we cozied up around a fire while she cook us the freshest of haddock caught days before, homemade salad. She even topped off the day with s'mores. Along the way, we stopped to gaze and experience the snow mountains and fjords and took a few pictures, of course She even connected us with another local leader and she facilitated an improntu visited to that place of our particular interest. If there were more than 5 stars, Skadi deserves them. Karin is dedicated to giving visitors an authentic experience no matter her offerings.Written February 8, 2024
- Q1261YGlilyh0 contributionsPerfect Guide, Beautiful Scenery, and There Were FishHad an absolute blast. Very easy to meet her at the pickup spot, where we were then transported to the fishing spot. It was incredibly scenic and an easy walk. Karin taught us how to drill into the ice and fish. My partner and I were able to catch a few! Karin then took us to her gorgeous home to prepare and cook the fish in her amazing BBQ hut. Overall great experience that my partner and I have already told so many about. Karin was also kind to edit and send out photos/videos of our time fishing.Written February 6, 2024

After one initial night's tour where Karin really did her very best by chasing the aurora, but without much success (still a very enjoyable night with an occasional tinge of green in the sky), a call the next night from Karin indicated that there might be a chance to see the aurora.
The weather forecast was not great with cloud building during the night, but with a team of watchers wishing and hoping, some drinking snow chilled beer, suddenly a scream ripped through cold, dark and crispy night. Yes, our dreams and wishes came true and good. And in some style too.
We were rewarded with a truly fantastic display of Aurora dancing through a large break in the cloud. The sight was mesmerising, unbelievable and just truly awesome as Aurora danced in green and pink long enough for fantastic pictures and videos of this amazing experience.
If you're heading to Tromso to see the northern lights, you will almost certainly need a guide to take you to the places where you will most likely see this amazing site.
I can't recommend Karin and her Skadi Adventures company highly enough. In short, she was brilliant. Karin is very experienced at chasing Aurora. She knows where to go for the best viewing opportunities, she has all equipment that might be needed, she has contacts all around the region giving access to some great places to watch the sky and she provides fantastic hospitality. Karin is also great with a camera and knows exactly how to capture the best pictures of her guests with Aurora dancing high above.
Aurora is a natural phenomenon which you are never guaranteed to see. But I would say, if you book a tour with Karin at Skadi Adventures, your chances to see the amazing dancing Aurora will be much higher than if you dont.

It was a wonderful experience with Karen. She was an amazing guide and was very very hospitable . She drove us to beautiful places just so that we could get better views of the Aurora. Being disappointed by not being able to watch the aurora on our first day in Tromsø with another tour agency, our second day with Skadi Adventures was eventful as we managed to get at least a glimpse of the the aurora though not intense. The weather conditions weren’t supportive but still the guide managed to take us to a spot where we could view it. It was a very personalized experience . The warmth in her barbecue hut is still fresh on my mind.

This was such a fantastic trip regardless of the Northern Lights. Karin is a fantastic host and we would now consider her a friend. She has such great knowledge and contacts within the area to give you the best possible chances of seeing the lights. Her bbq cabin was so cute, this experience alone would have made a great trip. We drove out of the city and passed the other tour companies shivering by the sides of the well lit roads. We first stopped at a location by the water which gave us wonderful views of the northern lights and was absolutely beautiful. I've never experienced somewhere so quiet, it was an indescribable experience in itself. We then went to karins bbq hut where we were given the options of hot drinks and cooked sausages over the fire. The cabin was the perfect warm hideout allowing us to pop in and out when the lights appeared. We had a wonderful 3 hour + experience of the lights dancing and moving all over the skies and this was the perfect place to see them. Karin took hundreds of beautiful photos for us, with and without us in them which was fantastic as I couldn't get anything decent on my phone. There was a wonderful view of mountains all around and over the sea. The stars were also a fantastic sight, there were so many and they were so bright, we even saw a few shooting stars. Karin kindly downloaded an app for us to identify the different constellations which was very kind. Before the trip, karin asked us about our food preferences and had looked up where was best to see the lights and at what time so we left earlier than expected which was absolutely the right decision as the lights had already started as we drove. This trip was better than we could have ever imagined, we wished we had found karin earlier to try out all of the other incredible trips she told us about.

We visited Tromso in the first week of February for 2 days and the weather forecast and northern lights activity were not initially on our side. This was our second night in Tromso and the last chance to see the Northern Lights. We were able to book a last minute tour with Skadi Adventures and it was definately worth it! Karin (our Guide) was extremely delightfull.
She was really well prepared. She knew where to go to have a clear sky to see the lights around the Tromso area, with beautifull surroundings. We did not have to drive for many hours towards Finland and be in a cold environment for many hours, waiting and hoping the lights would be visible. She would also stop a couple of times to check the weather and evaluate the best spot.
Karin had all the required equipment, including a cosy and stylish van ;), home made snacks and hot drinks, tripod, camera and suits.
We cannot say enough good things about Karin - she was quite friendly. optimistic, calm and persistent. She took more than 100 photos of us and the lights (no kidding) - all amazing. The tour ended up being just for the 2 of us (3 with Karin) and she really made us feel like we were part of her family.
This was once in a life time experience (and was for sure part of our bucket list). We were able to see an amazing display of northern lights - they were really strong, with all the "colours and dancing" we would expect to see during more than 1 hour. This was behond our wildest dreams.
We really recommend Skandi Adventures for everyone that wants to see the Northern Lights. We truly believe it made a difference having Karin as our guide that night.
We wish all the best for Skadi Adventures and we will definately return to Tromso in the future and book another tour with them!!

I've already seen the lights in another trip a few years ago so this wasn't a priority for me this time. At the last minute I decided to take a tour to see them again and chose this company because they had availability for that night, had very good reviews and it took only small groups.
The times of the tour changed and i saw the message too late. When I contacted Karin they were already out of the city but she said she would try to find someone to drive me towards them. She did find someone and her husband drove me to the place where they were! I couldn't believe that she really went out of her way just to have me on this tour.
I had a lovely drive, got to know more about Norway and Tromsø by her husband and enjoyed the beautiful landscapes!
Once I joined the group I had a great time with them also! Karin did all she could to try and have us seeing the lights and prepared a few snacks and drinks for us. Even though the lights didn't show for us that night, I was very happy that I managed to join Karin and the group :)
The next day I got a text from her saying there was a chance to see the lights that night and if I was interested to join again for a chase, I immediately replied yes!
Once again the 6 of us plus Karin went on a chase with new hopes... And it was worth it!! We saw the most magnificent light show! It was short but absolutely beautiful! They had different colors and danced for us :)
Thank you Karin for all the efforts you went through to give us this experience! Truly appreciate!
I can't recommend this enough! If you want to have a great experience chasing the lights and hopefully see them, take this tour!

Where to begin?! Karin is just AMAZING! She welcomed us with a warm, friendly smile and ushered us into her van and off into the night we went! The cloud coverage was very thick on the night of the tour but she kept our spirits high, telling us about the Northern Lights and telltales from her childhood about the Lights too. The weather for dates rhat the clouds might break so we went to her Basecamp where Karin made sure everyone arrived safely to the cabin in all of the snow and then fired up the grill so we’d stay toasty. She explained the different foods that we would taste - Norwegian kaviar for the win! - as she set up her camera to capture the views. Once our tummies were full and our bodies warm, we jumped back in the van to search for the Northern Lights! Around midnight we found a spot where they began to dance through the sky, entertaining us excited onlookers! Karin was enthusiastic throughout the entire night and had her camera on hand to capture these beautiful moments with the every changing light!! She found the best spot for a night that we will remember for the rest of our lives! Takk Karin for one of the most magical moments ever!

Karin, our guide, approaches to and takes care of every person in the group individually. She is kind and helpful, full of information, tips and tricks and was happy to answer all our questions. We traveled in a comfortable warm van and she had additional warm clothes for the ones who needed. We made a two stops to check the activity of the aurora and took beautiful photos. We reached our goal, a comfy warm cottage, driving through the frozen woods of the surrounding mountains in fully winter equipped van and Karin is really excellent driver in these weather conditions. We stayed there for about 3h taking a beautiful photos of aurora and watching her dance, and in between enjoying the warm fire, eating delicious meal prepared by Karin (she made a yummy bread herself!), chatting and laughing with our group. This activity for my family started as a day trip with a hope to see aurora and ended up as an adventure with beautiful people who were traveling with us. Karin not only fulfilled our expectations but made this a beautiful dream come true and once in a lifetime experience. Thank you, Karin!

We got to see the lights in a very special location, we were away from any other groups so it was a perfect place to have your time and explore different angles and pictures. They drove us to one location first but upon realising it wasn’t perfect we drove a bit further into the mountains and found a gorgeous spot. We could see the auroras and take tons of pictures. It was an evening I will not forget! Super fun and knowledgable guides. They give you tips for the camera, take your photos too, give you warm clothing and food and beverages. I could really recommend this tour! It is also very special as its a minibus with a maximum of 8 people, so it‘s much more relaxed than with a big company bus.

It was just the two of us with Karin yesterday evening and we had a great time. Karin even came and picked us up from our Airbnb. We stopped at various beautiful spots to look for gaps in the clouds for the Northern Lights. The stars we saw were amazing. We also spent some time having some tasty homemade snacks in a cosy wooden cabin with a firepit in the middle. The clothing provided proved very toasty too! The Northern Lights evaded us mostly apart from a few key moments, although would still fully recommend this trip. All the best to Karin as your business grows - a welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly person perfect for the job!
