About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- taylorhL697DU0 contributions10/10Absolutely incredible and well worth the money! One of the most magical nights. Kat was great, really informative and helpful. One of the best experiences of our lives the lights were amazing!Written February 3, 2025
- rachelgA1760SC0 contributionsBrilliant companyAmazing experience. Antonio was very enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable in terms the best spots to see the Aurora with some incredible scenery. We did an early stop just incase we could get some early sightings but he decided to move us further along to a better viewing spot whilst it was still weak. The fire and food at the end of the night were much appreciated too. The professional photos are amazing and he made sure to offer us more pictures whenever the Aurora became stronger and better for images. I’d highly recommend this company.Written January 31, 2025
- danielabW5381EX0 contributionsThe race for a clear sky to the NorthThe tour was so nice. I was on a work trip and had just one single day to see the northern lights for the first time. I am so happy with our lovely guide and driver for being so strategic in taking us as quick as possible away from the clouds, and finding a spot where I could finally make my dream to come true. In addition, they were so kind in always checking how comfortable we were. The hot chocolate at the end was such a nice closure for a lovely evening.Written January 28, 2025
- Dreamer4438440 contributionsWonderful northern lights experienceOur northern lights hunt with Green Adventures was great, with pick up and drop off, a fire, delicious hot chocolate and a warm soup as well as very effective thermal suits that really made the cold and wind bearable. We saw the northern lights, and got lucky enough to see her dancing for a fleeting time, which was incredible! Kat was very positive and Kat and David were very dedicated to finding a good spot for us to have the best chance to see the northern lights and made the hunt interesting and enjoyable. She was responsive and available to help all members of the group. I would definitely recommend the northern lights hunt with Green Adventures.Written January 27, 2025

- Road322219391050 contributionsA perfect tour for scenery lovers! My partner and I were looking for something to do on our last day in Tromso and this trip really looked promising so we decided to go for it, and we’re so pleased we did! We had mostly stayed within the city so it was lovely to be able to get out a bit further and see some fantastic Norwegian scenery and wildlife that we otherwise would have missed out on. Our group was small which really allowed us to bond and share some stories and some great holiday tips. Everyone was really friendly and cheerful and our fantastic guide was chatty, full of enthusiasm and local knowledge and encouraged us to have fun and enjoy ourselves. We were lucky enough to see reindeer, lots of birds and even adorable sea otters playing and hunting fish. The weather was also decent, with some amazing colours and cloud formations to give our (very amateur!) photography a boost. We also didn’t go hungry or thirsty and were offered hot chocolate and delicious ginger biscuits en route, and we stopped at a cafe with the most incredible views I’ve ever seen. As an extra bonus, our guide was very helpful and more than happy for us to pop our luggage in the cars trunk, and even dropped us off close to the airport on the way back in to Tromso. All in all, an amazing end to our holiday and we would absolutely recommend it to everybody. We’ll be talking about it for a long time to come!Written January 11, 2025
- 606veronikap0 contributionsA great experience 💫We went to Norway mainly to see the aurora, but the conditions were not ideal - heavy and persistent snowfall. However, our guide Lukas made it possible. He was constantly watching the apps and the sky, we were on the road for about 3 hours and we made it. The place Lukas found was great, the sky opened up and we had the best experience of our lives 🤍🙏🥹. Thank you for making my dream come true. Lukas is a great and fun guide and an incredible professional. Campfire was also a great experience, thank you so much for making my dream come true and I recommend it to everyone 💫.Written January 6, 2025
- aleval12220 contributionsTHE MOST AMAZING BUCKET LIST EXPERIENCEIncredible experience with Antonio as our guide and David as our driver. They were adamant on finding the perfect location. We were very lucky and saw the northern lights multiple times!!! We enjoyed the campfire and storytelling. My boyfriend proposed to me during our tour and Antonio captured some beautiful pictures of the moment. The iphone was able to capture some really cool pictures of the night but nothing beats the pictures we received from the photographer! Highly recommend The Green Adventure to anyone, such a bucket list experience!!!Written January 5, 2025
- 62petrac0 contributionsAbsolutely amazing!💫Well, the chances we will see an aurora was nearly none that they. It was snowing and it was cloudy the whole day. We had a guided call Lukas and he nailed it. He was fun and smart told us a lots of staff. But he prepared the journey perfectly. We we driving nearly 3 hours and we made it. Absolutely breathtaking experience. I am glad we had that guy. As I know from other tourists that they didn’t make it that day. So thank you Lukas would recommend you to everyone.Written December 31, 2024
- 466ellisf0 contributionsA Great ExperienceLukas was a great guide. He tried very hard to find the lights and did so, apparently on a night that wasn’t so great for them. I enjoyed the actual hunt as much as the lights and campfire. He also educated us on the technology and other things.Written December 30, 2024
- aleenasc0 contributionsA tour to make your dreams come trueMy boyfriend proposed to me on this trip and I want to thank Adam for being the best guide and photographer on this important occasion. We were lucky with the weather and saw the most mind-blowing auroras. Having a simple meal around a bonfire with everyone in our tour group was really fun and cozy too. We had a wonderful group and met lots of friendly people. Proposal aside, the tour is a memory we’ll hold dear for the rest of our lives! The tour was very well-organized. Everything started on time, there were extra thermal suits for people who weren’t warm enough, and our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the night. I highly recommend booking this company for your aurora adventure!Written December 23, 2024
- miathecat240 contributionsGreat experienceActually being able to see the aurora made this trip complete. But even if we wouldn’t be able to see anything it would still be a successful trip. Big mention to our driver Dawid who took us all the way to Finland over snow covered roads. He is a very safe driver. Our guide was Lukas and he was excellent. Very entertaining and he gave us lots of aurora facts and tips to make future trips a success. Sitting around the campfire was fun. Didn't feel cold at all. A great night!Written November 19, 2024
- Monniesreisverhalen0 contributionsA dream came true.On November 3rd I went with Lukas and Dawid to Finland to try to see Lady Aurora. It was a long drive but at one point we just had to pull over because Lukas couldn't stand it anymore. The auroras were so beautiful and so strong that we had to stop NOW. Dawid found a spot and Lukas couldn't wait to grab his camera to take pictures. In addition to a lot of green, there was also a more rare red aurora to be seen. Even with the naked eye. The colors splashed off the screen of the camera. In front of you, above you, behind you. Curtains, stripes, crowns and flames of aurora could be seen everywhere. Lukas took beautiful pictures of all the guests and you could keep taking pictures yourself. You really didn't know where to look. It also took a long time and I felt like I was staring at the sky for hours in amazement and wonder. And in the meantime taking one beautiful picture after another. At one point the aurora got a bit weaker and a campfire was made. We got soup and hot chocolate and could roast marshmallows in the fire. It was a beautiful place somewhere on a Finnish plateau. It was minus 12 but that didn't matter. In any case I saw the most beautiful, magnificent and powerful aurora of my life and I will never forget this night.Written November 16, 2024
- opitzwehmeyer0 contributionsreally greatNorthern Lights - my last big dream at the age of 70! The day of the tour seemed hopeless at first - the sky was overcast, it was raining and the weather app promised continuous cloud cover. Nevertheless, we boarded a VW bus driven by our guide ‘J.J.’. Despite the rain, the atmosphere on the bus was very good. We three Germans were joined by four Taiwanese and one Bolivian. The Bolivian had already done a similar tour the day before and had seen beautiful northern lights. Our guide J.J. wasn't bothered by the weather and drove kilometre after kilometre until we even crossed the border into Finland - and he kept looking up at the sky to spot stars - where there are stars, there is a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Once we crossed the Finnish border, the clouds cleared and we saw the first Northern Lights. On our return journey, J.J. suddenly spotted a clear section of sky and pulled over to the side. And we were able to see a marvellous spectacle of northern lights. The clear section lasted for an hour and J.J. prepared a campfire and served reindeer soup and hot chocolate. In between, we took photos of the spectacle above us. J.J. was an experienced photographer and used his professional equipment to take pictures of us and the campfire in front of the marvellous Northern Lights. We then drove back to Tromso and arrived back there at 3.00 am in the night, filled with happiness. J.J. fulfilled my last big dream and took some wonderful souvenir photos, which I have gladly downloaded in high resolution. Once again, many thanks to J.J. for the unforgettable experience - also from my German companions (and certainly from the others on our tour)!Written November 5, 2024

Seeing the Northern Lights had always been on my wife and my bucket list and simply put: The Green Adventure helped us put a couple of massive green checkmarks on that item. We booked a private tour since we have a 5 year old and weren't sure how she would handle the cold/late night and didn't want to disrupt other Aurora hunters. Our guide Antonio, did such an amazing job of accommodating our family - engaging with our daughter immediately, making sure we were comfortable/warm and answered all of our questions about the Aurora with his wealth of knowledge. Antonio set our expectations early and was extremely optimistic and wouldn't settle for anythng short of perfection with the goal of ensuring that we had the best experience ever. He was incredibly thorough and would re-calibrate based on evolving weather conditions to find the perfect spot. And once we got there - we were in store for a magical lights show full of dancing aurora of various shades of green, pink and purple. Not just that - Antonio was an amazing photogrpaher - ensuring that we had some one-of a kind family photos that we will cherish as our daughter grows up. Thanks again Antonio and Green Adventure - your consummate professionalism balanced with warm personalities makes a huge difference.

Incredible experience! I originally booked this tour because of the small group size and The Green Adventure's commitment to drive as far as needed to get to see the northern lights. It just got better with our guide Jurre Jan being exceptionally knowledgable about the lights, weather, and photography. We were all prepped with the fact that it is nature and nothing is guaranteed, which we knew all along, but it was nice to hear the guides reiterating that if the conditions ended up not being ideal it's just part of the adventure.
We ended up driving all the way to the border of Finland to find clear skies. Jurre Jan was checking conditions on Aurora apps the whole way and calling and taking calls from other guides about cloud cover/weather. Once we got near where the weather was forecast to be the best, he was checking multiple locations to find the best area to possibly see the lights. We stopped in one location, saw the lights for maybe 5 minutes, then the clouds started moving in again. We continued driving all the way to the Finland border where on the plateau we started to see the lights again. And then as we waited, the magic happened and an insane display of northern lights happened. We were dazzled with curtains of lights slowly dancing across the sky for almost three hours! Jurre Jan was quick to point out special formations in the lights, took killer photos of the 8 of us on the tour, and helped me when my camera lens frosted over!
I will point out that during most of the night it was below freezing with snow on the ground; I was bundled up to begin with but I wouldn't have made it without the thermal suit provided. Don't be afraid or too proud to ask for it - it made it so much more comfortable to continue to be out watching the show!
The show continued even after several hours, but we all chose to warm up by the camp fire where Jurre Jan explained some of the science behind the lights. This will help me understand how to read the aurora apps better in the future! He was kind in answering all our questions, and pointed out that we got really lucky with the show we had (probably around kp7).
We each got a freeze dried soup for dinner from Real Turmat, a local maker of hiking provisions. We chose the reindeer stew, but there was a vegetarian option as well. After we finished our soups there was hot chocolate and a cinnamon bun! The campfire and food while still seeing the northern lights all around us was a perfect way to end our adventure - or so I thought...
As we prepared to head back to Tromsø, Jurre Jan turned the other way and took us just over the Finland border. We got to hop out momentarily and take photos with the border sign. He said it would be terrible to be 100m away from Finland and go there - we really appreciated this! And to top off the evening we saw a female and baby moose from the car.
We know our experience was a lot of luck with nature, but everything The Green Adventure provided and Jurre Jan being a wonderful guide & photographer really made this a special experience. Worth the price and then some. We hope to return and go again!

We were 15 people in a minibus with a driver (Tomi?) and guide (Kat) with a pickup from Scandic Ishavshotel at 18:10. Kat gave us full overview of what we should expect from the trip and explained the conditions that were needed to see the lights. That night we had a clear sky and almost full moon so the conditions were excellent.
On the way to the chosen site (1hr15 from Tromso) Kat gave information and history about Tromso and the region. When we arrived she explained in great detail what causes the lights and also gave information on the science and the mythology surrounding them - we could tell that Kat was *extremely* passionate about her job as a guide. Then we started to wait...During the wait Kat served hot drinks and started a campfire.
After about an hour onsite we started to see bright "shadows" in the sky which were the start of the light show. Humans can discern some of the lights but the camera catches the best images. We were entertained with around 2hrs of lights and Kat explained the different formations and the mythologic meanings.
During a lull, we sat round the campfire and ate a reindeer stew and toasted marshmallows. Kat animated the break with her stories and asked each person to give a little bit of their own background - it was a great way to understand of where our co-tourists came from and why they were in Tromso.
After the lights died down, Kat took us to a great viewpoint by a nearby fjord to see the Lyngen Alps.
I can *highly* reccomend this tour as everything was done in a highly professional and informative manner. The bus was almost brand new and the guide (Kat) was fully committed to our evening. We really enjoyed the trip and I would recommend it to all my friends and to those who are looking for a trip to see the Northern Lights!
Our thanks Kat and the driver!

The day we went, they said that there are strong chances or seeing the lights so we booked the tour but it turned out to be not what we expected.
First, before you book, there is one price of 2090Nok advertised for the whole package but right at checkout the price increases with 200nok for thermal suits and hot chocolate which were supposed to be included.
The chasing part is more of a camping for 6 hours straight in one place kinda deal.
We drove about 45 minutes to this location.
The sky was cloudy, but instead of driving to multiple locations to have better chances of seeing them, my guy decided to camp 5 hours straight in the same place where we ended up seeing nothing at all.
The tour guide made a small fire, gave us hot chocolate, soup and marshmallows but he was more interested about explaining physics and showing us pictures of the northern lights from a few days ago instead of trying different locations.
It was like giving a donut to a fat kid and telling him he can’t eat it.
There were like 14 people that night, so it was almost around $3000 for a few hours in total. I understand that it is a natural phenomena and it can’t be controlled, and sometimes you see the lights and sometimes you don’t but you might think that they would try more and drive to different locations for this kind of cash.

We had an amazing time. We did ultimately see some amazing northern lights, but more importantly, our tour guide JJ made it such a great experience that felt worth it even if the lights didn't come out. He made sure we got the best chance of seeing the lights, taking us to the best places to be patient and also reacting fast! The food was good too and overall a really enjoyable night. The small group meant it was much easier to chat to fellow tour members too.

On the evening of our booked Northern Lights Hunt with The Green Adventure, there were thick clouds and it was snowing heavily when we left Tromso, so didn't have much hope of seeing the Aurora. That's the great thing about this company, they drive very far if necessary (we drove 3 hours to Finland) and were rewarded with a wonderful Northern Lights experience. Our guide, Peter, worked really hard, serving food & hot chocolate, making a fire & he took fabulous photos too (high quality & included in the price). Very funny & friendly, great knowledge of the Northern Lights & how to find them. Last but not least, our driver was an absolute star who confidently drove through a snow storm as we made the journey to Finland.

I cannot say enough positive things about the Green Adventure team! We did two tours with them and they were phenomenal.
We had our Aurora tour with Kat and her passion was so evident. Due to tour availability, we booked one Aurora tour with Green Adventure and another with a different company, and our experience with Kat was absolutely superior despite seeing less (due to weather). Her love for the aurora lights makes for an amazing environment and she worked so hard to get us glimpses of the Aurora (and Reindeer!) even when the weather was not wanting to participate. On our night with the different company the lights were much stronger and the skies were clearer, and we were wishing we were back with Kat to experience it because she was such an amazing guide!
Stop your search, and book with Green Adventure!

to me, the true measure of success and is defined by how challenges are handled. and chasing the northern lights with the green adventure team was a success from the start to end. We arrived in Tromso on a difficult week due to rain and rising temperatures. Robert and his team emailed us hours beforehand with full transparency explaining that the chances of seeing the lights may be lower due to the weather. He gave us the option of a full refund or a chance to try the hunt with them. We took the chance and are so glad we did! The drive was filled with educating us on how to track the skies, jokes, music and light hearted conversations. Luke & Rob drove us close to Finland to find some lights and we were able to fulfill a lifelong dream of seeing the skies dance! They are so generous with taking beautiful pictures of everyone too! Thanks to their expertise and skill, we got engaged under the stars and lights!! We will be recommending The Green Adventure to everyone we know and will spend the rest of our lives thankful for this once in a lifetime experience! Thank you guys again!

I highly recommend this wonderful family-run, eco-friendly company in Tromsø for anyone looking to experience the Northern Lights. Lucas, our guide, was absolutely amazing—he knew exactly where to go to catch the best views of the aurora and made the whole experience unforgettable. Not only was he an expert in spotting the lights, but he also explained the science behind the phenomenon in such a simple and engaging way. Lucas was kind, fun, and made sure we had a great time from start to finish. It was a truly memorable adventure, and I can't thank him and Robert (our amazing driver and company owner :)) enough for such an incredible experience!

Hi I’m planning a trip to Norway early 2021 and interested in booking your tour but I don’t have experience at taking photos of northern are photos taken on tour group included?

My tour started at 7 PM. We did not get back to Tromso until 1:30 AM as we had to drive along way, near Finland before it was clear enough to see the aurora. The end time is dependent upon the weather and how far the tour has to travel. The photos taken by the guide were great.
