We had booked the northern lights sailing tour for earlier in our trip to Tromso but the weather was not great and Pukka allowed us to change our booking to a few days later.

It was a really relaxing trip, with a small group (just 5 of us plus the guides). All the necessary warm gear was provided if you didn't have your own. Our guides were fantastic throughout the whole trip (skipper Elise - I think! and Max, both very lovely). They were both really knowledgeable, very friendly and chatty. We had a delicious fish soup cooked by Max and despite the weather being quite overcast and windy, they managed to find us a gap in the clouds and we luckily caught a glimpse of the Northern lights just at the last moment before we had to head back to port.

It was a brilliant way to spend our last night in Tromso. Would definitely recommend.

We actually went on four tours sponsored by Pukka (three run by them, one by the Sami reindeer folks). All were fantastic, especially the guides!
The guides were not only very friendly and knowledgeable but they also often shared a bit of their own lives and backgrounds with us. Some of them were first-rate adventurers, researchers and explorers in their own right, and their tales of arctic and other travels just added to the quality of our experiences. Our mini-bus trip around the fjords was informative and a great introduction to the area. The catamaran trip was lovely. We saw the Northern Lights in all their glory and had a wonderful fish stew while on board. It was great learning about the Sami people, feeding reindeer and riding behind them. We went looking for the Aurora a second night and "only" got a great look at the Milky Way, reindeer stew around an outdoor campfire and great stories about our tour guides' travels as we roasted marshmallows over the cozy campfire. Great night photography by our guides, too! Our trip to the arctic was really memorable (and we have traveled a lot) - and much of it was due to the dedicated, flawless, friendly service of the Pukka team. Don't hesitate a second. If you are headed to Tromso, book with Pukka!

The catamaran tour was very well organised and our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to see an amazing display of lights but what really made the trip was the company of the other guests and the hospitality of our guide. He made us some delicious soup and set out blankets and bean nages to keep us warm. I was impressed with his safety briefing and all of the equip the made available to us to keep us safe and warm.

Disappointing. The captain was gentle, the weather wasn't ideal, but the on-board experience didn't help at all. We stayed really close to the city and had no update along the trip. Suddenly the boat turned back and returned to the harbour. There were not enough bowls for the soup, in the end me and my wife could not have it. Other companies offer a "guarantee" that if you don't see the NL one night, you can board another at no additional cost. Go for those ;)

Hi Hugo, Thanks so much for sharing your feedback and we are sad to hear that you were disappointed. Unfortunately the weather here in Northern Norway can be unpredictable (not to mention dangerous) so to ensure that guests are kept safe and satisfied our skipper decided to turn back to harbour mid-tour. I understand that we endeavoured to find an alternative experience to suit, but believe that in the end, you opted to cancel and accept a full refund. We hope that you are able to join us some other time when better conditions allow us to showcase this amazing corner of the world. And if you have any further comments or thoughts, please contact us at support@pukkatravels.com or via telephone +47 99 37 1010. Warmest Regards Josh & The Pukka Travels Team

Went on the catamaran cruise on a very cloudy day. Chances of seeing the Northern lights were almost zero but our two guides found a gap in the sky and we could experience the beautiful spectacle. The crew was super friendly and competent. They caught a fish, which they prepared later to a delicious fish soup. Equipment/Clothes provided fitted perfectly helped keeping warm. Everything was fantastic!

This was an incredible, unforgettable experience.
The catamaran was warm and comfortable with a lovely seating area and 2 toilets aboard.
We had a small group of nine, chatting about our travels and how excited we were to be sailing the Artic on this catamaran Northern Lights tour.
The Captain Stian was professional and spoke fluent English.
He looked after us to the max, going above and beyond, making sure we were warm and comfortable and answering all of our questions.
Not only, did he cook a delicious fish soup and vegetables, brewed coffee, tasty breads and snacks, he sailed the catamaran smoothly in search of the Northern lights.
The warm thermal suits and life jacket safety was reassuring, and we even had reindeer skins to sit on, on deck.
The stars appeared brighter than ever before, piecing through the darkness of the sky. This alone was amazing.
Around midnight, we saw the phenomena, but needed a SLR camera to capture the colours, it was magical, like stardust dancing around the catamaran for over an hour.
I would highly recommend Pukka tours to anyone wanting to have the most amazing experience of their lives. And a BIG thank you to Stian for looking after us.

We did several tours whilst in Tromso. Pukka travels were really good to deal with. We were well informed about pickups and inclusions. I don’t know how they find their guides but they were all really relaxed and informative. We had so much fun!

What a night. I'm not the best in boats so found the sailing experience a little tricky but so worth it. You've got to have your wits about you as you move outside the safety of the warm cabin in your thermal suit and life jacket. Naturally, it can be icy so the handholds outside become good friends as you look around for sightings of Northern Lights. We were so happy to look around in awe at the repeated, spectacular displays as we left the Tromso harbour on 27 February 2019 for a three and a half hour trip into the darkness and back. The small crew got us out and back safely through some rocky conditions that particular night and supplied a fish soup supper to warm us up before heading back into harbour. A fantastic experience in a long lifetime. Brilliant night despite the challenges of a blustery sailing for inexperienced fjord/sea travellers.
