We had an amazing evening!
Reindeer sled riding, overnight in a Sami tent, traditional Sami dinner and the Sami guide who spoke on their culture and ways of life (she is a reindeer herder!), and we saw the northern lights!
This was a cool experience, but I am not sure I'd sleep over again. At age 60 sleeping in Lavvu on reindeer skin and stocking a fire oven once an hr was a stretch. That being said, I am very glad I did it.
However you can come out and do everything else and then return back to town rather than stay in the tent.

Very nice trip starting from Tromso. We had bad weather but in spite of that we truly enjoyed the area, the hospitality of the local Sami group and the overnight in the tent. Very good explanation in the evening about the Sami culture and history. And we had some Northern lights too !

Tremendous experience, friendly and kind hosts and a once in a life time experience witnessing the Aurora.
Everyone was attentive and the animals (reindeer and dogs) were very well cared for and loved.
The whole experience was well organised, with clear instructions provided.
The Sami people are wonderful and their history is fascinating.
Our Lavvu was cosy and cute and the hosts went out of their way to guide us to a warm and comfortable night.
Excellent experience from start to finish.

I felt the trip was overpriced for what it was. The reindeer ride was literally a figure of 8 around a field on your own in the sledge as the reindeer they were using were apparently too old or too young (!) It was interesting to hear about the Sami way of living but the experience didn’t reflect it. I would also mention that there are no washing facilities, not even to brush your teeth, we’d have been better prepared if we’d known this in advance. That said all the staff were delightful.

I stayed in February 2020. Had a great time, spent an hour with the reindeers sledding and feeding them. This was follows by a meal and a talk about the Sami culture. The best bit was staying overnight in the tent. Really cosy as there was a wood burner. Didnt see the Northern Lights but enjoyed getting up every couple of hours and checking, great breakfast in the morning also. Stunning scenery around. Cant recommend enough

Staying in the Lavu is a great experience. Cozy and warm. The dinner was not that tasty. We had only the vegetarian one so can't tell about the other one. Sled riding with the rain deer was not that exciting. I guess they just don't like humans so they didn't seem to like pulling sleds. Feeding them felt nice, thou.

Dear 83cezard, Thank you foryour balanced and honest feedback. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit and had an overall positive experience. Unlike huskies, reindeers only run when they are distressed (or cold). Reindeer sledding is therefore a slow activity. Best, Bernhard

Overall a great experience and would recommend.

Lavvo tent was cosy and we were shown how to keep it warm. Logs have to be added to the fire every few hours to keep warm, we felt that this was just part of the overall experience. The tents were well equipt with teas, coffee, hot and cold water. Lovely atmosphere.

Extra warm suits and blankets were provided for reindeer sled experience, would have been nice to see some Northern Lights during this experience, however it was cloudy and we cannot control the weather!

We got to spend some time feeding the reindeer. The Sami guides were more than happy to answer any questions in relation to the reindeer. It was good to learn that they come down off the hills for winter and free roam in summer. The reindeer were also more than happy to come over and greet us!

Reindeer stew was delicious and plenty on offer to fill up on. Sami guides were more than happy to answer any questions and were keen to tell the group about their culture.

Thank you so much for such a nice words about our place! We are trying our best to make everyone feel warm and cozy in our tents, and we love to share the culture of the North with everyone who wants to listen. It is also a great pleasure to hear that you enjoyed the time with our animals. They are very special, aren't the :) Of course we regret you could not see Aurora, but it just gives you more reason to visit us in the future! Warm regards form Tromsø Lapland

This was truly a once in a lifetime experience! So many new things into a single night: discover a new culture, a different animal, and the aurora.

An absolutely beautiful setting just a very short distance from Tromso. We arrived and put all the warm clothes they provided (thermal overalls, boots, hats, mittens) before going straight for the sleds. The sledding happened after nightfall but we could still see quite well and the backdrop of the mountains was beautiful. Everything was very silent so all you can hear is the noise of the wooden sled on the fresh snow and the hooves of the reindeer. The ride is slow so you can enjoy the surroundings.

After the sledding we had dinner in a large tent (reindeer is quite tasty and tender and the warm food and drinks really hit the spot) while they told us about Sami culture and sang traditional songs. A member of the team remained outside during our dinner to spot the aurora and came to tell us when they were out. And we got very lucky because they were amazing and stayed out for hours.

A part of the group is only here for the sledding and dinner. Only 3 of us were staying overnight last night so it was small and intimate, which was awesome. They made a fire in the snow for us by our tent - gave us a reserve of wood to keep going - and laid out some reindeer skins for us to sit on. Between those and the clothing they provided, we did not get cold at all despite staying out til the wee hours of the morning. They also let us keep the camera and tripod all night to try to take photos. It was the full moon, we could hear the huskies howling, the lights were dancing in the sky, and the fire was keeping us warm. It really doesn't get any better than that.

The setup inside the tent is much more elaborate than I expected. There is a wood heater at the center and thin mattresses around it on wooden planks raised above the ground for isolation. Nice pillows, warm sleeping bags. We had to keep feeding the heater some wood throughout the night but were quite comfy. In the morning the sunrise made the mountains look pink all over and we hung out with the reindeer before grabbing breakfast in the home of our guides. The smoked salmon they served us was to die for and everything else was great as well.

The staff is very professional and friendly. They always answered our emails in a timely manner and were quite flexible with needing a vegetarian meal and leaving the camp a little early the next day to catch a flight. They even dropped us off at the airport rather than in town as planned.

Overall we would highly recommend the experience. Absolutely unforgettable and a great value for the price (sledding and aurora tour separately are very pricey, hotel and meals as well, so this whole package is a steal). Check out their actual website, it gives a very good idea of what to expect.

Afterwards, I camped in a tent overnight and was able to see the Northern Lights! The staff was knowledgeable and helpful! A once in a life time experience! I highly recommend it!
