      Great experience.
Our guide, Leah, was fantastic. She had a lot of tips to make the experience more enjoyable. We highly recommend this if you are inexperienced xcountry skiers like us.

      Ski rentals
Rented cross country skis here for 24h, so we could go at our own schedule. They were helpful in picking out the skis and making recommendations on routes. No issues at all with the returns, everything went smoothly. Professional and courteous staff, would gladly use again if in Tromsø.

A must-do activity for nature lovers
We had the best tour with the best guide Mikkel who inspired us with his love and enthusiasm for nature and the activity. We learned a lot during a marvellous hike in pure nature and the most stunning views. Definitely will tour with you again or try all other offers of the company next time!

      Nice way to begin cross-country
Marie was a wonderful teacher: patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. The area where we did the activity was groomed for it, and very easy to get used to. Once we got used skiing in the flat area, we went to a couple of small slopes to practice breaking. We got also a small break in a beautiful area by a lake and enjoyed some hot tea and a Norwegian snack.

      Wonderful experience
I had a wonderful experience with Tromsø outdoor and their guided snowshoe hill hike. It was supposed to be a hiking experience on Kvaløya but unfortunately the weather forecast wasn't good and therefore our guide took us to another location. I had a blast! Cannot recommend this highly enough.

      Snowshoe hike on Kvaloya
We really enjoyed our trek with Mikkel and Tromso Outdoor. My family of four did the snowshoe hike and it was a truly wonderful experience. We had beautiful weather and found the guide to be really knowledgeable, experienced and passionate. The hike was as described but the views were more wonderful then we could have imagined. Thank you Mikkel for a wonderful day we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tromso and will definitely be back to experience more.

      Excellent lesson.
Fabulous lesson, lots of fun. Really well taught so that by the end we felt we knew enough to be able to go out and give it a go on our own.

Highly recommend to begin learning how to ski!
Really Great for beginners!! After that lesson and free time to practice what we’ve learned I was sweating and felt like I just did a workout. Was great. Kudos to Tomi for being so patient, the group that i was with was a family who was quite difficult to deal with but Tomi taught them and handled them well. Highly recommend to experience, and for sure will try skiing again. We also had some good hot grape juice wine? And pastries in between.

Excellent experience run by a really friendly and caring group
Had a wonderful afternoon fatbiking with Mikel who was super patient and considerate. He got us started on the bikes, took us on to a lake to experience loose snow. Took us to the ski jumps which we climbed to sit and have a snack. He told us lots about things in Tromso on the frequent breaks necessary for me to catch my breath. Thank you Mikel. Before the tour the folk in the shop were lovely allowing us to leave our luggage in their store while we went away for lunch and then during the tour. They seen to be a really helpful, caring bunch of people.

      Amazing experience!
Highly recommended! We were very unlucky with weather, making for high avalanche risk at the intended hike location. But the Tromsø Outdoor team had a good backup hike taking us up smaller, less treacherous inclines, and around a lake. We are fit and healthy, and found the hike easy, but the views and our guide, Mikkel, made the whole experience totally worth it :)

      Great fun in the snow
Loved our guided beginners cross country ski trip with Leucas - everything was so well organised, easy to get our kit from the shop in Tromso, a short drive to the Cross country ski area and then excellent instruction. We were able to get going skiing and off through the forest, a memorable experience! Thanks to our great guide

      Wonderful Day
Lovely experience! Mikail was a great instructor and showed us the basics of cross-country skiing and allowed us later to go at a pace that suited us, either staying with the group and going slower or challenging ourself and going ahead. The day was beautiful for it and the location was lovely! Would highly recommend the experience. Tromso Outdoor also gave us a lovely postcard of the Northern Lights as a thank you, which was a sweet touch.

We started the tour meeting 15 mins before the start of the tour outside a local hotel. This sounded easy but ended up being pretty stressful. There were multiple tours meeting at the same time and place which meant there was a large crowd all vying for the attention of the guides who were swamped with people. These guides did not have clear signage indicating which company they were from, so you end up waiting in multiple chaotic queues only to be told that they were from a different company and couldn’t help. We eventually were advised to go over to one of the buses, which we did. We showed the driver our tickets and he told us to go and find a lady in the same blue and orange jacket to the one he was wearing. There was nobody wearing this type of jacket. We were starting to panic as the tour was meant to be leaving in 2 mins. The bus driver then pointed to a lady who was wearing something very different to what was described and wasn’t holding a sign. She confirmed she was from our tour company and guided us to the same bus that we’d just spoken to. We got on and the driver joked saying ‘found it then!’ - we found it rather bizarre that he’d sent us off twice rather than just telling us to wait by the bus or better still just letting us on. We then drove about 10 mins to a car park where we were given snow shoes and advised how to put these on. We then started off on our walk. The scenery was beautiful and walking in snow shoes was great fun. The snow was up to our knees in places and we had fun throwing snowballs at trees and watching the snow fall from the branches. The guide was lovely and really informative about the area etc. We did seem to stop a lot at the start (for explanations and a traditional hot drink and cake), we would have preferred more walking and less talking! We did about 2.4km and arrived back at the car pack after about 70 mins of waking. Overall though the experience was great and we’re glad we did it. If the meeting point bit had been smoother I’d have rated it 5/5 overall but have gone for 4/5 due to the unnecessarily stressful start.

Had a great time, we wanted to try snowshoeing out without committing to the longer tour, wish we had done the longer tour, it was surprisingly fun and over too quickly!

Our guide was such a lovely man, was very patient and informative. We went on an amazing walk in beautiful surroundings, and he provided us with hot blackcurrant and a delicious snack. He even cut the walk short so my two teens could do some sledging with a sledge he provided! It was great fun, thank you!!

Did this trip with my mum. The two others booked on the tour failed to turn up so it was just the two of us.. perfect! Ester was our guide and she was lovely giving us some great info on the way round. The snow shoe experience was not too difficult so suits a variety of abilities. Views in the area were just amazing! Perfect way to spend a few hours

We booked last minute at the Tromso Outdoor shop in town and the staff were very helpful in accommodating us and making sure we had the right boots and clothing without any “hard sell”. The experience was well organised and straightforward- we went 10 minutes by minibus to a country park on a hill in Tromsoya where we were fitted with snowshoes and poles and given some very quick tuition before setting off. Thesnow was crisp and we walked up and down some gentle slopes and through birch and spruce trees. our guide, Simon, was passionate about the area and we stopped every 15 minutes or so to listen to him talk informatively about the history of Tromso, the Sami people and their traditions and the local landscape and wildlife which was interesting. The snowshoeing was easy to master and the walk not too strenuous so very family friendly and a great, fun way to spend a couple of hours.

Among all the trips this was the worst experience I had. I could put as a word for this: inattention.
I booked a tour in advance to make them a snowshoe on the 26th of December. I arrived at the hotel at night and went around town. Returning before bed accidentally seeing my message box at 11pm I see a message sent at 19pm canceling the tour by a number of people. The next day I went to the store that was opening and said it was canceled and asked to come back later that would help me. That is, I spent all day walking around the city and lost my day of sightseeing. I returned 3 times and explained my problem (which would be theirs) to 3 different people. They always asked me to come back later and maybe they would put me in the group the next day, until I was willing to go by bus or taxi (I pay) to find this group and do something. I was offered several options from other tours but nothing interested me. Finally, around 6pm I returned to the store and said it would be impossible for me to go with the group. I know you have apologized a thousand and hope you will be repaid. I know you will write excuses here. But I think, after traveling in 92 countries, an unforeseen would make me a priority, maybe moving to another company, not doing nothing because two days in a distant trip going all the time to the store to get information.
This was terrible, I left Tromso without doing any tour because I was twice in dependence on this horrible company that is not worried about you.
I will return to this city yes, but I never expect attention from this company. Stay tuned!!

Hello drAborige, thank you for your feedback.  Firstly I wish to say that we still hope you had some nice time in Tromsø. Secondly I would like to apologize that you have experienced Tromsø Outdoor service this way. We are a small private company and we strive to always offer the best service to our customers, but we also see that there is still room for improvement.   You expect excuses from our side, but I would like to explain the situation instead one more time. According to our terms, listed on your booking confirmation, we require minimum two guests to book the tour to run activity. It happens very seldom in main season, but it did happen that you booked an excursion on a day, when we did not have any other person interested in this tour. Therefore, unfortunately, we needed to cancel this particular trip. We do it evening in advance to not hold your day and give you possibility to make other plans in case we will not get any more bookings overnight.  Our procedure in this situation is to offer another trip which is available, spot on the same tour other day, rental of the equipment with very good advice on how to enjoy the outdoors on your own and if none of these is a possible change full refund of the tour costs. We have offered you all possible solutions we had, but unfortunately none of them suit your expectations. We are really sorry that we did not manage to find a good alternative for you instead of the cancelled tour and hope that when you come to Tromsø again you would bother to pay us a visit and give us a chance to compensate for your lost time and join us snowshoeing or cycling then.

My friend and I booked the 2 hour guided snowshoe tour on Tromsoya. Pick-up and drop-off was from one of the hotels in town which was convenient. They drove us to the park where we were fitted for snowshoes and poles. The guide we had was really friendly and provided us with some information about the surrounding nature which was great. Neither of us had been snowshoeing before but we found it to be pretty easy. We thought the 2 hour tour was the perfect amount of time to get a taste of the sport. Would recommend this tour company to anyone looking for some outdoor activities in Tromso!

We arrived in Tromso on an evening flight and our first activity the next day was a snowshoe walk. Neither of us had ever snow shoed previously and we are both in reasonably good shape but we are not fitness junkies. Our guide, Sergio, gave instructions that were easy to follow regarding use of the snowshoes and the rest was a pretty simple matter of putting one foot in front of the other. The trek was a good pace, reasonable inclines and a distance that allowed us to stretch our legs without getting exhausted. The scenery was beautiful along the way and when we reached the rest spot, the vista was spectacular! This was the perfect way to introduce ourselves to Tromso. It did not hurt that the weather was outstanding. [Side note: your booking information will refer you to an outdoor rental store for boots and clothes if you need them [snowshoes are included in your booking]. We rented a pair of boots and the price was very affordable.]
