- patrisiam20240 contributionsGreat! The restaurant is amazing, great service, food was amazing, full of flavour and will be back! The poppadoms were lovely, the korma was perfect! Thankyou!Written April 18, 2024
- rikkilp0 contributionsAmazing experienceWe had an amazing time meeting and feeding the reindeer. We were lucky enough for a large amount of them to come down to the feeding area even though the snow storm was quite heavy. Learning about Sami culture after the feeding was also amazing, so interesting and our guide Daniel was so lovely and funny! Such a great experience, highly recommendWritten April 16, 2024
- L7269WNmarissam0 contributionsThe perfect proposalAMAZING. That’s truly all I can say. I’m just getting around to writing my review. The reindeer farm is beautiful of course but my review goes out to the staff. They truly went above and beyond when my now fiancée reached out to them to propose. They coordinated everything seamlessly and did a great job keeping it a secret (from me). They were able to set us up with an individual sled and private place for us to have the dinner. I couldn’t have imagine anything more perfect until the northern lights came out. Thank you to Marja, Sara, Manon, and Edwina for everything!Written April 14, 2024
- gailcoles770 contributionsA great tripWhat a great trip! Loved every minute of it. Learnt so much about the Sami way of life. The lunch was tasty and feeding the reindeer was so enjoyable. We couldn’t do the sledding element of our trip as the ground was too icy, but we were refunded promptly for that, but it certainly didn’t detract from our visit. Really, really enjoyable day.Written April 5, 2024
- karinra0 contributionssuch a beautiful and happy experiencesuch a beautiful experience! even though it was a big group of people in a big bus, it always felt personal and very chilled. the staff and the Sami people were super friendly and always up for a chat. we could ask all out questions and had really nice conversations with them. we spent quite some time feeding the reindeers and were able to walk around the land as far as we wanted. The traditional reindeer stew for lunch was delicious and the hot chocolate as well. the story telling from the Sami man was so sweet and funny. overall a very beautiful, fun and happy experience. was absolutely worth the money and i would totally recommend it to anyone visiting Tromsø during this time of the year.Written March 31, 2024
- travellight7210 contributionsReindeerReviews are accurate in their description of the days events. Clean bus picks you up on time. Very organized with pleasant staff. Feed the reindeer, take a ride in a reindeer sled with a warm reindeer "blanket", hot chocolate and cookies in a tent with fire anytime you like, Reindeer stew for lunch and a talk from one of the Sami who gave a talk about their culture and would answer any question you have. We had great weather and I can imagine how a different scenario could affect the day. Also website show they were fully booked for our only availability but after I sent an email they accommodated us! Highly recommended.Written March 28, 2024
- jcevet0 contributionsMust see, must do, must experienceA magical sight to see so many reindeer clustered together. A truly unique and absolutely ahh-mazing experience to be in such close contact with the reindeer and to be able to feed them. They are so adorable and cute! Some would even try and get your attention by touching you with their hoof so that you would turn around and feed them. The two lovely Sami ladies were fabulous and they enlightened us with some facts about the Sami culture. Although the sleigh ride had to be canceled due to icy conditions, we had a wonderful time altogether!Written March 28, 2024

- ma_gorzataf5840 contributionsInteresting experienceThere is a large terrain with the reindeer where you can walk and feed them from the bucket. The problem with our tour was that at that time the terrain was like a lake of melted snow with reindeer poop floating everywhere. Our shoes soaked and we spent two more hours in the tent, having a meal and listening the story of a Sami lady. We were cold despite the fire and my son got a fever after this trip. We were also smelling like smoke after sitting all this time inside the tent with a fire. The meal did not taste us. The best part of this trip for me were the stories told by the Sami lady. Of course reindeers are interesting as well, but they don’t like cuddles, and they are quite insistent when it comes to food;) But overall it was a good experience ;)Written March 26, 2024
- Tracy F0 contributionsRelaxed evening in a beautiful settingPerfect end to our trip. Came here on our last night. Very peaceful and serene setting. Little sled ride and reindeer feed. The tents with the campfires were cosy and the 3 course dinner was wonderful. Very well organised. The Sami woman sang happy birthday to me and gave me a beautiful gift. Loved hearing their stories and traditions around the campfire.Written March 22, 2024
- 169eileend0 contributionsEnlightening experienceWe had the dinner version of this visit with the sweet reindeer, so we fed the herd in the dark as they butted their heads into our feed buckets. Then we trooped into a Sami tent where there was a fire and we were served reindeer stew, which I am afraid, I could not manage to eat, but my son liked it. The Sami host presented a talk about their history and culture, which seemed to be in line with many of the trajectories of indigenous peoples around the world. Enjoyable evening, but you may leave hungry if you are a picky eater!Written March 20, 2024

- p0ppyl0uiset0 contributionsFantastic reindeer feeding experienceReally friendly team, and the whole experience was smooth. The scenery was stunning, and there was plenty of time with the reindeer. The food was great and they catered for vegetarians, and the story telling afterwards was such a great experience. Would recommend to a friend :)Written March 15, 2024
- mgarcias770 contributionsI don't recommend it….A disastrous experience... animals in poor health, and forced to work more than they can handle. My children started to cry. I don't recommend it at all if you don't want to feel like you've contributed to it with your money.Written March 14, 2024
- 245soniab0 contributionsTromso Arctic Reindeer: Highly recommended this experienceWell put together experience by Tromso Arctic Reindeer. Gentle Reindeer Sledding, over only a short distance but made it suitable for all age groups. Loved meeting & feeding the Reindeer...there were some real characters! The Sami experience was excellent & made our day. The entertaining & informative talk by our 19yr old Sami guide who engaged us all informing us of past & present practices. So important to learn from history & about different cultural beliefs, dress & lifestyle. Great setting all sitting round on Reindeer hide covered benches with a roaring central fire in a big tent. Traditional Reindeer stew served was so delicious they generously allowed us a second helping! Great selection of gifts to buy onsite, with everyone so welcoming & helpful. In beautiful plateau setting surrounded by mountains. Good transport arrangements from Tromso.Written March 14, 2024

I've never talked to someone about reindeer for a solid 40 minutes while standing in the dark, cold rain before, much less an 18 year old girl, but our amazing Sami host Ilya (Illia?) spoke with such knowledge and passion about all things reindeer that it kept begging for more details.
The whole experience was fantastic. The guides were all very friendly, genuinely interested in the group's experience and attentive to our every need. Special mention to Ilya, who's endearing and natural passion for her heritage and culture really some through. Our bus driver Magne was hilarious. The hungry reindeer were very placid, even in (apparently!) very warm conditions. The food was really delicious, and the campfire smoky, cosy and warm.
Even though there was real cloud cover we were still lucky enough to get a brief glimpse of the northern lights, and our guide kept a look out on our behalf while Ilya regaled us with stories about Sami life.
There was a real sense throughout the whole evening that our custom was really appreciated as a means for the Sami to share their culture with the world and keep it alive. Our 18 year old super-guide's passion is testament to that.
Cannot recommend this highly enough as a wonderful Arctic evening.

We had a memorable time listening to our Sami guide sharing stories about his life, Sami culture and about the reindeers. The hot drinks and stew provded were yummy. We were also really fortunate to see the northern lights. It was truly amazing!

This was an amazing experience with my 19 and 17 year old children and my wife. Very well organised, not overly touristy. A short, warm bus ride out of Tromso to the reindeer farm. There, we had so much fun feeding reindeer from buckets. Surrounded by majestic reindeer with big antlers, jockeying for position for their feed. Then into the traditional Sami Lavvvu, a large teepee type structure with a bonfire. Coffee, tea and biscuits. On to the delicious dinner, then the highlight of the evening was hearing Danil teach us about the Sami reindeer culture. Amazing, gentle, insightful, funny individual. Very poignant discussion of the culture being changed by technology, the Norwegian governments pressure to convert traditional lands to windfarms, and the challenges of traditional reindeer herding in the modern world. Beautiful evening.

This was such a beautiful activity. Feeding the reindeers was a lot of fun and if you are gentle, you can even pet them. Our guide, Irja, was beyond amazing, with a very nice sense of humor, from whom I learned a lot about her culture.
Don't be afraid to ask her questions and enganing in a conversation, she will gladly reply to you.
The food was delicious.
Special thanks to Irja for sharing with us.

My Wife and I both loved the experience and we eould recommend it to anyone. The attention from the staff is brilliant and unlike so manu others it is not all about giving you the absolute minimum and then shipping you off.
You keep getting reindeer feed until you want to stop. I think we both had at least 4 and then plenty of time for photos.
The food was excellent and again you were well looked after. I stopped after my third bowl!
Then the talk was brilliant, am honest chat and not a staged performance.
To top it off we witnessed the Northern Lights despite an overcast day.
Reindeers may not be as glamorous as Killer Whales or Snowmobiles but this trip is not to be missed.

I had an amazing time learning about the Reindeer & the Sami people. The food was delicious & comforting. The team of guide & cooks were informative & passionate. I had a fantastic night. I choose to take the sled ride and I loved it, could have stayed on the sled all night & been pulled around by the Reindeer, whilst I gazed at 'Lady Aurora' in awe..
Fantastic experience...

Would recommend this to everyone, we were lucky enough to see a fantastic Northern Lights display while we were there but the whole experience was a lovely introduction to the Sami culture and lifestyle. Both our driver and host were genuine and welcoming people. We fed the reindeer, learnt about Sami customs, clothes and song and had a lovely meal in the cosy candle lit lavuu (Sami tent). A magical night!

This was a great life experience! We did the reindeer camp dinner and were completely blown away by awesome it was - words can't really describe it. If you want a tldr; version - just go ahead and book it. You won't be disappointed.
Pick up was in the city center at 6pm by Peter, a really friendly dude who helped with setting up this whole experience (if you want a fun challenge, try to guess where he's from without asking him). Following a short 25 min drive, we were at the camp that consisted of several yurts. These were built by the same people who hosted us on the tour. Inside, the fire pit was roaring and provided a welcome buffer from the cold Nordic winter. After a brief introduction with Yoni the reindeer herder, we were given buckets of moss to feed the herd of 300 reindeers. A surprise was how friendly to people these animals were. Though they do get a bit aggressive with each other when it comes to feeding rights. While we were doing this, the sky was churning out some incredible auroras. We've been on the hunt for northern lights for previous two nights but this was the best yet. Swirls of dancing lights blanketed the entire sky. We were told it's a lucky bonus. Your experience may vary wildly. After the feeding the herd, we were invited into the cozy yurt where we had the 3 course meals. Food was simple but very fresh and delicious. The reindeer stew was the highlight. It was made by another Sami family who's now running the business of providing food to the camp. Post dinner, Yoni shared stories about the Sami people and culture. The best was his personal joik (a nomadic folk song of sorts). I won't go into details here but it was pretty touching.
Overall this was one of the best experiences on our Scandinavian trip. Peter and Yoni along with his family were super friendly. They made you feel comfortable as if you're visiting friends instead of being on a tour.

Chance to get up and personal with reindeer as they are brought down in the winter to feed. Also heard from the lovely Ann Marie about Sami life and as an added bonus, saw the northern lights. Had dinner in a really cosy hut. A lovely evening.

We were on a cruise, but had booked this tour independently. Well worth it. We were picked up at a hotel close to the pier and transported to the site. We got there at dusk and were introduced to the Sami owner. We were then given a bucket of food pellets to feed the reindeer, which was fun. We were then divided into groups and given a ride on a sleigh pulled by a reindeer while other reindeer played and jumped in the area. After everyone had gotten their sleigh ride we were taken inside for a delicious Sami dinner. After dinner we were taken to another teepee where the Sami culture and reindeer herding was explained and we were allowed to ask questions. A wonderful experience. There were a couple of things I wish would have been done differently. First we got there at dusk and didn't really have a chance to take good photos of the herd of reindeer. By the time we got to feed them it was dark and photos weren't great. Also we almost missed our sleigh ride because we didn't know what group we were supposed to be in - maybe letting the people know which group to be ready for would be a good idea.

Very easy to get to the meeting point - within walking distance from the port. Dress warmly, you can always take something off, but it was pretty chilly, especially once the sun had gone down.
