      Amazing Experience, Friendliest Staff.
WOW, what a journey we are a family of 4 from Australia and as dog lovers we decided to do the guided Dog Sledding. We where picked up In Tromso by there very comfortable bus and transported to their facility, from the moment we arrived they are straight into it like a well oiled machine. They promptly had has dressed in supplied boots and overalls to keep you warm and had us in the sleigh and off on the journey. The trail they took was majestic such beautiful views. On arrival back at base you are invited to sit down around a fire and are given warm drinks and a meal before boarding the bus for the return journey. Between returning from sleigh ride and meal there is ample time to spend with the dogs to pat them and give them thanks for all their hard work. If I could give this business a higher rating I would. Thank you to the wonderfull staff for an amazing experience.

      One day husky adventure
This was by far the best activity we did in Tromso. If you are travelling all the way to this Artic destination, you simply should not skip husky sledding. Why? - Well organised: they will arrange EVERYTHING for you. A bus is arranged from Tromso city centre to the camp. Once there, they have ready for you: a thermal suite, snow boots, ski goggles, and even snow gloves if yours are not good enough. - Passionate guides: Louis is an extraordinary guide that transmits tons of good vibes combined with passion. He loves what he does and you can easily see it. This translates into a even better experience because Louis will make sure you go that extra mile to enjoy your ride. - Good ethics farm: at first I had concerns about the dogs well-being but Louis addressed this at its due time. I have no doubt the dogs receive the best treatment possible, and you could see it - they were always super excited and genuinely happy. Now, if you are doubting between only a morning/afternoon or the whole day, I must strongly recommend the 1 day adventure. We heard several people complaining that they did not have enough time in the half day trip. And to be honest, I would have done two hours more. Thank you very much Louis, Elena

      Disabled person Huskey experience
Excursion booked through Hurtigruten . My wife is disabled and in a wheelchair. Hurtigruten emailed the husky sledge centre at Kvaloya to see if they could accommodate a disabled person. They replied they could. We arrived on a coach ( wife already kitted out in appropriate clothing) they helped move the wheelchair to the husky enclosure and bought a husky to her to pet. They made special arrangements to transfer her to the husky sledge. The ride was an incredible experience. After the ride they helped transfer to the hut where we had the most delicious chocolate cake and hot drinks. Can’t thank staff for being so accommodating and making what seemed an impossible experience so enjoyable.

Fun dogs, friendly guides, delicious meal
We didn't get to see the Northern Lights there because it was cloudy, but it was still a great experience. Both the people and the dogs are super friendly, the meal and hot drinks was delicious. We were explained how the dogs require a lot of activity and how they run tens of kilometers every day. Many of them clearly were ready for a rest as we've arrived in the evening, but some still had energy to greet the visitors. We also got to slide downhill on the snow with a mattress, which was fun.

Absolutely DISAPPOINTED with this company and do NOT recommend Dog Sledding with them.
Absolutely disappointed with this company and do NOT recommend Dog Sledding with them. Look for a more serious company among the wide range of companies! What happened to us? already at the place with the dogs and super excited, we were several groups that were going to do the activity. After a few minutes and because it was raining, they stopped the activity and told us that it was not possible to do it because of the bad weather (up to that point it was understandable). But a few minutes later we saw that other groups came backctivity. We asked about the schedule and the answer was unbelievable: "they have decided that this group will not do the activity, you have had bad luck, sorry. You can ask the company for a refund. We were so upset to see others having fun and not us. The guide explained to us that we could skip the rest of the plan and ask for a refund, so we decided to do so and didn’t spent anymore time with dogs and didn’t take the lunch. We had to wait around 2h sitting for our tour bus to take us back. After 4 days waiting for the answer from Villmarkssenter, they refunded us less than 20% (We paid 2x 449,28€ and they refunded 88€) It is outrageous! We did NOT do the activity, we did NOT eat. We did NOT enjoy!

      100000% recommend!!
I did the husky sledding and couldn’t recommend it highly enough - a highlight not only of my holiday but also entire life! Everyone at the centre was lovely, and it’s clear that the dogs are happy, healthy, loved and cared for. Scenery was spectacular; I’ve truly never seen a more picturesque landscape. Lunch in the cosy huts was delicious. Truly cannot recommend a visit here enough! I miss Tromsø already and can’t wait for another round of husky cuddles and sledding there ASAP <3

      An amazingly adorable experience!
The tour includes a good dinner, some marshmallow roasting by the fire, and of course plenty of time to visit huskies! The dogs are the obvious highlight. They seem well taken care of and get to choose if they want to play with you. Plenty are happy to! I will say, don’t choose this tour as a way to see the lights. If they don’t happen to be above the tour location, you won’t see them. There’s no search and the location does not change. Even still, a very worthwhile experience if you like dogs! They do not disappoint!

Bucket list experience - a MUST!
The most amazing experience ever, I was blown away and couldn’t recommend this activity anymore if I tried if you are a huge dog lover, and looking for a unique experience. I emailed a couple of weeks before coming (wanted the 1st of January and was aware I was possibly too late). The company contacted me back saying they were fully booked, but would happily put me on either waiting list and contact me if anything came up - a week later, I received an email and the booking process was very easy! To start, we arrived and were greeted by very friendly staff. We were ‘suited and booted’ to keep us warm during the activity (ski suits and boots - no gloves so definitely bring your own as well as hats), and then went to meet our guide - I believe we had Isabel. Isabel introduced herself, and took us to our sleigh ride. We opted for the sleigh ride where a musher would steer, so we could sit and enjoy. We met our driver (Tove - such a lovely woman and so accommodating and friendly) and our dogs (her A team race dogs - so lucky!), were tucked into the sleigh with a little blanket and off we went. There were about 8 sleighs in total. All of the dogs were brilliant, so enthusiastic and energetic, and so well trained! Tove had great control over the dogs, while also chatting with us the entire time with facts about her dogs, answering questions, and even stopped the sleigh for a photo opportunity! They advise you don’t leave items on your lap, but I took my phone with me and had no issues. The sleigh ride is something words can’t describe, but is such a stunning experience with the views - you go out for about 45 minutes. There are several bumps along the way, but nothing major. It’s a lot of fun, and a great laugh! After you’re done, you have a moment to say hello to the dogs that pulled you, give them some cuddles and take some photos again before meeting back with the guide. The guide takes you into the yard where all the other dogs are, and explains a little bit about the breed, and what they do. This again is another chance to give some cuddles to the dogs! Next, you’re taken in to the pen where the puppy huskies are (puppies… but they were 9 months and just as big as the others, but incredibly playful)! The dogs run crazy around you, but again are so well trained and familiar with humans - the cutest experience. Isabel spent the time again discussing how they look after the dogs - it’s apparent so much care and love goes into these dogs from the way the staff speak of them! Finally, you’re given a little ‘free-time’ before then undressing out your ski suit and entering a little cabin to have a choice of hot drinks (tea, coffee, hot chocolate) and soup (reindeer or vegetarian) around a fire. We chose to drive ourselves, which meant we had more time afterwards to go back into the yard to say hello to some amazing dogs (including the crazy Ludo, brilliant Joker, and cuddly Whitty) before it was time to go. However you can opt for a transfer option, which still gives you so much time to enjoy the entire experience (we just never wanted to leave, haha!) Overall, this is a bucket list experience from start to finish. The staff are absolutely brilliant, and all so attentive to detail of not only the dogs but the guest experience also. The dogs are so friendly, so well trained, and so beautiful. Doing this on the 1st of January has made a brilliant start to the year (as well as a great birthday trip), and is something we would recommend to anyone, and would happily come back time and time again!

Amazing and informative experience with huskies
What an experience! First of all I need to highlight how flexible Tromso Wilderness Center was: they had change our booking day and we could change our transport method with no fuss, they always replied with very short notice. Second: it was lovely to see how they care about the dogs (including "work-life balance", "retirement plans" and wellbeing), and how happy all the dogs are here thanks to this loving 'family', we learnt a lot from Mark (our guide) about alaskan huskies and dog sledging and the centre itself. Third: the dog-sledging was awesome! 45 minutes in the nature, fresh snow and beautiful scenery in the twilight! Forth: we warmed up in a traditional wooden hut next to open fire eating reindeer stew and brownie, drinking hot chocolate, tea and coffee. Last but not least, we could cuddle with the dogs, who all were very friendly. I highly recommend this program if you are in Tromso, not only exciting, but very informative and mind-changer as well!

      Would recommend for all people
Can’t fault it in honesty, some dogs were totally game for some cuddles but most wasn’t but it’s ok as they are also running all day, the people working there were very friendly and the food was nothing out of this world but still tasty, the only reason it’s not 5 stars is because it wasn’t anything crazy amazing. A good time all in all

      totally fantastic husky trip
Absolutely fabulous time at Tromso Villmarkssender. We had an amazing time and couldn't stop smiling the whole time. The staff were very friendly and so helpful and answered no end of our questions during our visit. They helped us with suits, to get in the sleighs and took photos out for us whilst out with the huskys, generally they couldn't have done more to make our visit so fantastic. We were with Isabel, and our sleigh guides were Dennis and Celia - all great and made our visit so wonderful. We went for a husky sleigh where we weren't driving and could enjoy the views and the huskys, which was fantastic - the snow and scenery breathtaking. Back at the site we saw the 5 month old puppies and then had lunch - reindeer stew and chocolate brownie in the yut, again very welcoming and tasted great. Gluten free very well catered for, with the stew, gluten free bread and a special gluten free brownie. We left happy and smiling from ear to ear. Only slight downside was the huskys we bought had Lapland harnesses on ! A bit of a shame as surely we weren't in Lapland, and our treasured souvenir is abit out of place !

      A wonderful experience
A wonderful experience snowshoeing across beautiful landscapes. We did about 5k in total, with a stop half way through for hot drinks and biscuits (supplied by the guides). The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and were more than happy to answer any question we had. We took 2 dogs on the hike, which I enjoyed very much! We spent time in the dog yard after snowshoeing, which was amazing

      Amazing Husky’s and welcoming Team
We booked independently for the Husky Sled experience whilst on a cruise and we were a little anxious about whether we would get to the meet point in time. A phone call to the centre was extremely reassuring and they then called us on the morning to check how we were doing. Brilliant service. The experience itself was wonderful from the views to the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and of course the amazing dogs. We would recommend to anyone!

      Dogsledding experience
We visited to experience the dog sledding and were totally blown away by the whole day. The ethos of the place is to maintain the dog’s welfare first and foremost. The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly and our musher gave us loads of info during the sledding experience. I can highly recommend Villmarksenter and we are planning another visit already. This is a must do trip for anyone who loves dogs and being out in the beauty of the wilderness.

We had a absolutely fantastic day. We were picked up promptly at the Radisson and traveled by coach to the location. (NOTE: We arrived by cruise ship and needed to take a shuttle into town for the meeting place. The cruise ship offered this at a very reasonable price.)

We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children (6 and 10.) We had the opportunity to learn about the huskies, hold them, take them for short hikes, and play some games wiht the puppies. There are some fantastic views of Tromso from the farm as well. The trainers were personable and informative. An all around really wonderful experience for all of us and would highly recommend. Oh and they gave us lunch, which as also delicious and a treat after a long day. We are so glad we did this tour.

The puppies were so enthusiastic and we had a great time with all the dogs. Including the owners new JRT. We were a little hesitant to try the fish stew but it was very tasty, along with the bread. All in a great way to spend the afternoon. Wild blueberries was a great find.

Me and my mother booked the Puppy Training in the AM, followed by the Husky Aurora Visit in the evening! WOW! So awesome!

We were lucky enough to have some snow and be able to have a sleigh 🛷 ride with the Huskies. We cuddled and play hide and seek and other fun games to train them! This was followed by an amazing lunch in the warm and cosy hut 🛖 and then more husky cuddles 🥰.

The evening was just as good - and we were so lucky to have an open sky 🌌 to view the Aurora lights. And of course yet more husky hugs and an amazing evening meal.

Perfect. It would have been great to take home and adopt one of the huskies of course 🤭

Thank you for a wonderful experience

We came to the center for the puppy training session and had an amazing time. The snow hadn't fallen enough for dog sledding but playing with all the dogs and seeing how they are trained more than made up for it.

Regardless if you like or don’t like dogs, this is fun and informative for everyone. Unfortunately our dog sledding activity was cancelled due to a lack of snow as we were at the back-end of the winter season (last week May). The staff advised us well in advance of the cancellation and offered us a refund or signing up for the puppy training. We did the latter and learned a lot that morning. First of all, despite this being the largest dog kennel in the region, everything was clean, well arranged and the dogs were such nice characters. Compliments to the staff. We booked the activity for us and both our parents, which are in their seventies and some more mobile than others. Our guide and puppy trainer (oops forgot her difficult name, but she knows who she is, sorry!) adapted the pace and length of our walk with the dogs in the wet and soggy terrain where the puppies and their mum could freely run around. We all got some dog food and water / mud proof clothing, including rubber boots. Off we went and we can only say, try it yourself, it is so much fun. Even one of our family members, who I thought was afraid of dogs, had soon 4 new puppy friends (if you feed them they will soon be) and was going all excited into the commands to get the puppies to listen. After the field experience we were provided a tour of the farm and watched the further feeding of the puppies. The whole experience was concluded with some hot food, coffee/tea and cookies in a traditional hut. We left the dog farm with a ton of super sweet dog pictures and videos and probably talked about it for the rest of our holiday. Well worth the money and an unforgettable experience. Now only we have to come back another time for the dog sledding.

Be aware that for the puppy training, you need to have good mobility and have normal fitness as you will go on a walk on very uneven and (in autumn) really doggy boggy land.

We had lots of fun meeting the adult dogs and playing training games with the puppies. They are very well cared for and socialised and are fun to play with. After the walk and running around, we helped to feed the puppies and then we went to a nice warm tent with a fire and got fed yummy fish stew.

Rubber wellies, outer jacket and trousers are provided in all sizes so you won't get your clothes muddy.

My family (me, my wife, and two kids ages 10 and 12 years) went for a visit early in the morning at the beginning of July. We began our trip with a short taxi ride from the Radison hotel. At the Husky Farm, we met with Alejandro (sp?), who showed us around briefly and got us geared up for the hike. So many adorable doggos, all friendly and chatty! We took some adolescent puppies out for a walk in an expanse of land near the farm. We gave them treats, and had them do tricks. The ground, soggy and slushy, was fun to wade through. The dogs were adorable and affectionate and seemed to love running around, exploring, and playing in the mud and water. When we got back, we played with the very young puppies which my daughters (okay, all of us) went bonkers for.

I have to admit I was first shocked, looking out at all those dogs, chained up, but my worries were quickly abated when I noticed how fit and healthy all the dogs looked, how happy they seemed, and how closely the staff monitored and watched over everything. The grounds were very well taken care of-- clean and hygienic -- and we could tell that the husky care was proceeding on a very careful, complete schedule -- a testimony to how well trained the staff were and how well they maintained the entire farm. Alejandro mentioned that the dogs are never traded or sold, and explained to us how all dogs find a role in a sled team.

After the puppies we sat down for a really nice meal of (reindeer?) stew, which my daughters, who are very picky eaters, had no problems gobbling up. Delicious.

Alejandro -- and his associate Eva -- made the trip extremely enjoyable. Alejandro was knowledgeable and answered all of our (many) questions in a fun and complete manner, and was a wonderful host to our fun, family outing.

This visit was one of the highlights of our trip, and we would have no problems recommending it to anyone. What a wonderful way to see Tromso, even in the summer!

On my last day in Tromso (evening) the Lights were showing strong activity on the way to this husky farm and camp. With freezing temperatures but well "cladded" with special clothing by provided our hosts we ventured to get acquainted with this amazing dog breed and the reindeer nearby! Once again a beautiful wilderness camp with traditional Sami tents and very warm hosts. Great food (a local speciality "Baccala" which links Norway with Portugal due to the salt-cod trade). To cap it all, the Lights gave a fantastic show of colours and shapes at the end of our meal that mesmerized everyone in the group! The best memories from Tromso by far!
