About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 108edwardy0 contributionsInsights to BergenEric (sorry, could be Irik, probably not spelt correctly) was our friendly guide. Really informative and very knowledgeable. Learned a lot and enjoyed the tour. Thank you.Written November 4, 2024
- Debra B0 contributionsEssential historic TromsoThe guide, Bernard, was extremely informed and communicated well, with a lovely sense of humor and important tangential facts. We walked through the important parts of town and visited the polar museum where he explained he exhibits very well. I delightful afternoon.Written March 11, 2024
- 796safiar0 contributionsWalking tour...good overallThe walk was at the right pace with stops for sharing information of a historical as well as non historical value. Gives u a good oversight of the place and what to do with free time eg museums and eateries. Astrid was helpful and concerned about ones comfort. Overall a great way to get acquainted with the layout of the city.Written February 13, 2024
- B801XVdanielad0 contributionsHistory comes aliveBernhard, our guide, was easy to find and did an amazing tour with us. In a group of 6 we walked through the old Parts of Tromsø and Bernhard made history come alive with his wide knowledge and brilliant stories he did tell us. Also the visit in the Polar museum was way more interesting, as the guide managed to create a vivid idea of what every room was about. At the end of the tour, we had the chance to come in to deeper contact in the pub with Bernhard and got further information about this and that. I would really be happy about having a tourguide like Bernhard on every city walk, promising an interesting afternoon and not just a boring standard tourist tour.Written January 17, 2024

- love2laffx30 contributionsAVerySarah was a wealth of information and did her best to include everything that was promised on the tour even though we had a late start due to a couple of folks being late/no shows. We throughly enjoyed learning more than we would have if we had just walked around by ourselves. Communication was great before the trip as well.Written August 3, 2023
- V4301WJericb0 contributionsInformative and interesting history walk through downtown TromsøMy dad and I were a big fan of the historical city walk with Tromsø budget tours. I’ve lived in Tromsø for 8 months now and wanted to learn more about the history of the city. This was an excellent way to do it. Our guide Astrid was quite knowledgeable, personable, and interesting to learn from. We toured local sculptures and monuments, historic buildings, and the polar museum, which gave us a cool overview of the history of the great explorers of the Arctic region. Thanks for a super tour Astrid! It’s a great feeling to now know more about the history of my new homeWritten April 10, 2023
- Curious188591352940 contributionsEnjoyable tourOur guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. The tour of the city was fairly limited and was the tour was focused more on the Polar museum. The guide added very valuable color to the museum as we went through.Written March 26, 2023
- harjegikke0 contributionsRather a museum tour than a city walkThe tour starts with a short stroll of about a kilometer. Starting at a statue of Amundsen and thus returing to the quaiside. Here you walk through a seafood restaurand, look at an aquarium and go on to the polar museum. We thought about exiting the group at this point as this was really rediculous. We stayed and got a really good tour of the polar museum for about 1-1,5 hrs. Here our guide had really good in-depth information making i really interesing to listen. The walk bak was again rather short with onlt few interesting information ending up in the MACK brewery pub. At the end were quite disappointed. Although we knew up front that the tour included a visit to the museum we did not expect it to be the only really substantial part of the tour. 3 stars in totat due to the really good info at the museum but the rest of the tour was 1 star at best. This should not claim to be a city walk but a museum tour as this is basically what it is.Written March 4, 2023
- kt30030 contributionsVery interesting! We had such a lovely time with Astrid, learning all about the history of Tromsø. We visited the polar museum which was interesting. Astrid was very knowledgable and friendly, answered all questions and we had such a nice afternoon tour with her. Would highly recommend!Written February 21, 2023

- Seaside6293400 contributionsInformation-packed city walkWe had a great time. The guide was incredibly nice and enthusiastic, the tour was tailored according to our interests. We got some great tips where to eat and shop and learnt a lot about the city's history as well. The enterence to the Polar museum is included and itsuper noce to have a guide there. I absolutely recommend it to anyone interested in the city's community and history from the local point of view. A great way to start the stay in Tromsø.Written February 6, 2023

- timgolfo0 contributionsTromsø in a nutshell - Bernhard made it possible! The tour lead by Bernhard was both very informative and entertaining, as he is a great story teller. We were in Tromsø just for one day and the tour enabled us to get an excellent overview of old town, history and the famous arctic explorers. Thank you Bernhard!Written January 11, 2023

I had an amazing time with our guide Håvar, all 10 of us in this safari with him all have to agree, Håvar is an 5 stars safari leader in Thomso!
He guides us through the city, three different bars, 10 different beers and shared his knowledge, experience and the history of Scandinavian beer!
If you have one afternoon in Thomso, you got to book this Beer safari! Worth of every penny and the time spent!

We had a great first day in Tromso with Bernherd. He was very knowledgeable about beer and answered all our questions about the city. We went to 3 beer venues; however, he did point out others he would recommend and a few rooftop bars. It was a great day and a great way to start seeing the city.

Bernhard met us on time, taking us to a pleasant walk around Tromso downtown and stopping at the pubs and relevant sites. He was very friendly and knew a lot about the subject. Beers were great and he got apple juice and bread for the kids - even though they even tried some typical foods with us (whale, seal, cod tongue...!). Great opportunity to know more about the city, the breweries and to try those special dishes!

Great tour guide who really added her own special knowledge of the city to the tour! We couldn't figure out the meeting place, but she called us and came to find us! She took us to some great pubs, places we may not have discovered on our own. Highly recommend!

Astrid was an excellent hostess, just consider:
1. You will not enter the Mack Brewery (not included, although there are photos in the post)
2. You will walk recognizing typical places, so it is advisable to take it the first days.
3. Tapas are in the last bar, before that there are no tapas, and they are just typical food tastings (whale, seal, reindeer and others)
4. Astrid knows a lot about Tromsø's history, however, he is not a beer specialist.

This was our second time on this tour. Our guest was 2 years ago and we brought friends the second time. Bernard even remembered us. This tour is a perfect combination of tromso history, beer knowledge and of course beer! Such an amazing group and tour for beer lovers! 5 stars! Would definitely do again!

An interesting afternoon walking around Tromso and tasting various beers. Bernard, the tour guide told us about the history of brewing in Tromso. Ten different beers were tasted, and a little bit of tapas in the last bar.

It was a great. A little mix of history and wonderful background on the beer and bar scene in Tromso. Great kick off to our trip too. Helps you narrow down what local beers you like. One tip, the food sampling is small but let’s you try some local meats. Again helping you narrow down what you might order later, so my tip is to eat a bit of something beforehand :)

Bernhard took a small group of us to several microbreweries and a craft beer bar. He was interesting and engaging and certainly knew a lot about local history, and about beer (he is a brewer). He and I may have to differ on strongly-hopped IPAs though!
Seriously, this is a great tour if you want a quiet walk around Tromsø with an experienced and knowledgable guide, and sample the odd beer on the way.
