About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Jonathan S0 contributionsNot bad, but not worth the moneyThe food, drink and restaurant were great. But the experience wasn’t worth the money I paid for. I could’ve gotten the same experience by just going to the restaurant and ordering the food. There was nothing extra that came with the reservation. No explanation or learning about the history/meaning of each dish. Would recommend the restaurant, but not this experience. Unless the improve it to be more educational and informativeWritten May 27, 2023
- Happiness636232356580 contributionsWorth a go, no pre-orderIn general, a nice place, but, so many people, there is no feeling of relaxation. No choice of food although there is a fairly large menu. It makes no sense to book through Tripadvisor, it's better to just book a table and choose what you want. I liked the live music.Written November 23, 2022
- Jaricewfb0 contributionsNice atmosphere; service=mehMusic was enjoyable. No food option provided - vegan/non meat diet not accommodated. Appeared to be understaffed; left after 2.75 hours waiting for dessert.Written October 28, 2022
- Heather G0 contributionsNot worth itLocation was nice but the wine tasting experience was more or less just ordering a flight of wine. Not an 1/8L as said in the description and no information beyond the name of the wine.Written October 15, 2022
- PumaLlama0 contributionsA lovely introduction to an old cityThe tour guide was a little bit late arriving but more than made up for it with a very good tour of a charming European town that is unexpected for travelers used to Western Europe. Part history lesson, part food tour, part sight seeing it was a perfect blend for first time visitors to Bratislava. The weather was chilly and rainy and she also made sure to keep us undercover as much as possible.Written September 2, 2020

the most unfortunate experience. the road to Bratislava was fine, on time. the meeting with the guide on time, a short tour, but ok. the worst moment was at lunch, we had paid for 2 courses, but at the restaurant we were served only the starter. there was a long wait (1 hour) for the next dish, but in the end the waiter informed us that there was nothing else for us and that it was the guide's mistake for not announcing that we had 2 dishes. the most embarrassing moment followed when we were asked if we wanted them to look for some leftovers in the kitchen.🙄

It was nice to hear the history of Bratislava and Slovakia. The guide was good and engaging. It was nice that lunch is included, and the restaurant was cozy and there was good food to be had. The negative is that one hour with a guide is quite short. There is too little time to take in everything and guided tours feel rushed.

Had a great time visiting Bratislava and Sebastian, our guide there, was very helpful. It was good to get out of Vienna and enjoy a slower pace in such a beautiful city. Lunch was very nice and overall it was a great day. The only bit of advice I would like to offer is better signposting at the bus stations.

This really was an excellent day out. Got to the main bus station on U3 direct from our hotel. It was right next door and a smallish station so really easy to find bus. My instructions told me to get off at 2nd bus stop SNP Most, and meeting point was 2 minutes away. There were only 5 of us in the group so easy to hear and ask questions. The tour did take 2 hours rather than 1 which was our gain. Lunch was soup and then chicken and chips, the others had coffee and cake option. All lovely. Plenty of free time so walked to castle and blue church. Then had coffee and cake in oldest coffee shop. The honey cake was one of nicest cakes ever had. Our guide was Yuri (spelt wrong) and was excellent.

This is a tour you can completely do by yourself without spending $45. If you decide to do it; please bring your passport. You will arrive at the bus station, have to figure out how to get on the right bus. Then have to find the meeting point. My guide was lovely and the lunch was okay but not even water was included. After the tour, I just got myself a $5 euro bus ticket and went back to Vienna regretting I spent $45 on something I could have done alone. If you decide to go, just get a bus ticket, bus will drop you right near the city center, there’s people offering tours so you won’t spend more than $15 euros rather than $45.

Dear client, Many thanks for your respond. First of all, there are buses which cost 5 EUR from Vienna to Bratislav anad vice versa, but they do not go on highway and the route takes one hour and half. Normal ticket with regular bus cost about 9 EUR one way, so 18 EUR/ both ways. You have also licensed English speaking guide which city tour in Bratislava cost about 20 EUR per person. If you take free tours and have unlicensed guide who does not have knowledge about the Bratislava there is minimum tip 10 EUR. Also the price of two course menu in touristic resturant in Bratislava cost about 20 EUR. So the price of the tour is about 60 EUR. We never mentioned in our description that lunch includes drinks.
If the tour was over your budget, you should have not book it, otherwise I do not really understand what do you compliant about.
Have a lovely day,
Andrej from Bratislava City Tours

This trip was a great way to get a taste of Bratislava for those visiting Vienna. Bratislava is extremely close, like an hour away. You get dropped at the bus station and it’s right by the old town – tons to do and see. We enjoyed a coffee and people watched in advance of the walking tour. Our tour guide Luba was great, she packed a LOT into the hour that we had with her. The place they took us for lunch was pretty good as well. No complaints there.
You get ample free time; we went and got a great Thai massage (at Sabai). Very reasonable prices there.
Only two things that we would flag about the tour:
- We had communicated dietary restrictions for one of us - twice - in advance of the tour. Yet, the tour guide had still not been made aware of the need. Fortunately, I was able to negotiate with the staff at the restaurant, who spoke a bit of English.
- Some more guidance on how to find the bus would have helped. We arrived to the bus terminal to find a whole bunch of stops along a streetline, but no information as to which one was the right one to get to Bratislava. We checked the bus terminal website, and it said no buses were going to Bratislava that morning (??). Fortunately, a bus with “Bratislava” on the front then showed up, though we had to jog to get to it as the spot we had picked to wait was of course at the opposite end (it’s the first, stop 1). Be sure to arrive early if you are a couple or you might not get to sit together!
Customs stopped us going into Slovakia to check to make sure we were fully vaccinated. No customs check on the way back to Austria.
Anyway, we really enjoyed the tour and would definitely recommend! Good value for money.

The tour guide and the agent were knowledgeable and friendly, it was quite exclusive due to the very small group.
But the overall tour schedule was NOT up to the standard so the lunch, wouldn’t call it for two course but the food was relatively tasty.
By the time to sit down and relax for the lunch in the middle of hot summer it was almost melting, then still has to find the ways around to fill the rest of the day trip without the guide.
It’s not a day tour and not worth of money.
There is a free city tour offered by the city or other organization that goes by tip basis, which would give better flexibility.

Dear customer, also in description is stated that you will have free time in Bratislava and the guided tour last one hour in Bratislava. Also the meal is two course menu, soup+ main course. Sorry I do not understand your bad review, as in price is included bus tickets from Vienna to Bratislava, LICENSED GUIIDE (not a voilunteer like in free tour) and also two course lunhc menu. If you wanted something for free, you are right, you should buy a free tour. Kind Regards, Bratislava City Tours

Was supposed to go on viator tour of Bratislava. Unfortunately the flixbus from vienna was not reported correctly and a number of folks including me missed that bus. Even though the tour operator was well aware of the problem with flixbus they would not issue a refund nor did they offer another date. Neither viator nor the tour operator offered to make us whole even though the problem was with a provider. I travel alot and for this reason I will never use or recommend viator again.

This easy trip was the perfect introduction to Bratislava. The bus station was near the u-Bahn. The bus trip was on time and comfortable. The guide was excellent and tour just right to understand some history and where all the important sites were. We really enjoyed the trip and had a great day in Bratislava.

Yes. There is a bar code on each ticket. I saw several passengers use their cell phone as a way to board the bus.
