- Anthony P00Great tour and amazing tour guide! We loved this day trip to an incredibly beautiful city. The whole experience was so well paced. We loved our guide Peter who was so funny and informative.
- jjgobears00Wonderful day in AustriaMy wife and I took the day trip to Hallstatt with our guide Peter. The trip was well planned and Peter was a fantastic guide with a comfortable van. The Hallstatt visit alone would have been worth the price, but we stopped at a couple of towns and lakes along the way and Peter kept us informed (and entertained) along the way with background and history of Austria and commentary about current events. He was patient with my many questions and was flexible when members of our tour wanted to modify rest stops, etc. We had a separate guide in Hallstatt and she was also informative and accommodating and was quite helpful assisting some of us with purchasing tickets to some of the local attractions. The day was one of the best of our trip to Europe. We highly recommend this company.
- Gingembre00A great way to see Budapest in a dayThis was a very comfortable day trip with only 7 people plus the driver, Marco. The mini-van was roomy enough for everyone and Marco has a friendly personality while also remaining professional throughout. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of all the sights along the road from Vienna to Budapest, and in the city itself. It was a hot day but the temperature in the van was comfortable. We were taken first to the top of a hill overlooking the river with Buda and Pest laid out below, a breathtakingly beautiful view. We drove to the major sites and then Marco gave us an hour and a half in Pest to explore and have lunch. The restaurant he recommended to us had outdoor tables overlooking the river and delicious food and drinks. I highly recommend this tour!
- stepexpl00Picturesque HallstattHallstatt is a must see with amazing views around every corner! Our tour guide was knowledgeable and we enjoyed seeing and learning about the town. A special shout-out to White Alligator Tours ... due to high water levels our boat was not able to get us to the pick up point in Vienna ... WAT worked with us on an alternative pick up point and we were able to make the trip!
- Anna G00Wonderful tripI had the pleasure of exploring the breathtaking village of Hallstatt with a superb guide, Peter, and it was unforgettable experience. Peter is very professional, knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. Highly recommend.
- Fernando R00Great tourI had a great time during the tour. Markus was a great and funny guide. They allow you to spend some free time at the stopping points to do whatever you want. Hallstatt is a beautiful (little crowded) place, enjoy your free time wisely.
- Pgmeirelles00Salzburg and district lakes - small group tourBeautiful journey. The 2 stops at the lakes were amazing! The city guided tour in Salzburg with Gabi was too fast. The alligator guide/driver, Peter, was very friendly and knowlegeable. I highly recommend it!
- JBSouthFla00Beware of the supposed free hotel pick-up and 24hr cancellation promisesBeware! If you book directly on this company's website, it tricks you into paying via PayPal even if you enter a credit card # separately to pay by credit card. Then, it asks for your hotel because Vienna hotel (pick-ups and drop-offs are included) and all seems great. But the next day, (if the same as my experience), you'll receive an email saying that your Vienna hotel 'is outside the pick-up radius for the tour' and that you'll have to find your own way to a meeting place downtown. When I went to cancel (per their 'free 24 cancellation policy'), they deducted $12.40 for a 'Paypal booking fee' from my refund. I think this is both deceptive and unfair. I'm sharing so others can be made aware before booking.
- camerondezham00Budapest day tripExcellent experience with Marco our tour guide. Very knowledgeable, professional and helpful. Highly recommend.
- 39purple4000ExcellentWe were picked up on time in a clean and comfy van. Marco was welcoming and explained the day's schedule clearly. He gave us an informative narration along the way. We had an excellent time and would highly recommend.
- Explore5102638940300It couldn’t have been betterThe small group tour of Budapest was fantastic. Our guide, Peter, was knowledgeable and a pleasure to travel with. He showed us key locations and more and we still had plenty of time to explore on our own. A perfect way to spend a day.
- Connector42882300Great trip to PragueWe had a wonderful trip to Prague via this tour. All places mentioned were covered and we had ample time to explore. Our driver, Marco was great. Wonderful personality which make you at ease right away. He explained all places and facts related on our way to Prague. Our local guide, Valerie, was also great. She was a warm personality and we enjoyed walking around with her in Prague. Highly recommend this tour.
- Connector42882300Wonderful ExperienceWe had a great time spending a day to Budapest. All the tourist place mentioned were covered and we had enough time to explore. Our driver and guide, Marco, was very knowledgeable and extremely charming and friendly. We felt at ease with him. He answered all our questions we had about the places we visited. Highly recommend this tour. See if you can get Marco as your driver and guide.
- m_elhusseiny00Excellent experienceThe Tour guides both Peter (who was also the driver) and Valerie were both excellent in commitment and knowledge. Everything went as promised and scheduled
- Inspiration45665000A Long DayWe enjoyed the actual trip but it was far too long for us. Beautfiul countryside and views, it was booked for us from another site but we are unable to review it.

Marco was one of the best guides any of us have had. He was informative, polite, making sure the group had everything they need, on time for all pick ups, kept us informed on how the day was going to go. It truly was a delight. Thank you for a fabulous experience!

There was not enough time spent in Salzburg to see anything let alone eat lunch and go through the Christmas markets. We should have just taken the train from Vienna to Salzburg and had time to do things. Also the “local” guide wasn’t great. It was hard to hear her and she kept talking about the sound of music. If I had wanted that tour I would have reserved it. Don’t waste your money on this excursion. Our driver Peter was fine.

Dear renee s,
thank you very much for reviewing your experience with us.
Kindly note that we are cooperating with several local guides in Salzburg and have already looked into what happened during your walking tour through Salzburg.
We are sorry that your local guide couldn’t live up to your expectations and we have taken appropriate measures.
Please note that you were part of a small-group tour of 8 persons. If you couldn’t hear her well, you should have told it to your local guide right away.
Kindly also note that your review suggests that your local guide took you to, instead of the main sights, the local Christmas markets. Your local guide, however, did the traditional walking tour through Salzburg’s old town, a part of Salzburg basically converted into a major Christmas market during the Christmas season.
Your local guide, on the other hand, lived up to what we are committed to do according to the official schedule (see in the description part) of our product ‘Salzburg Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna’. This clearly states that we also show you some of the “filming locations from the classic film ‘The Sound of Music’.”
We hope that we were able to clarify the different points mentioned in your review.
Kind regards,
The White Alligator Tours Team

So pleased that I chose this great day tour to Salzburg given my limited time in Austria!
The pick up was punctual and from the start our guide, Peter, was a font of knowledge, giving so many useful snips of information. It was great to hear such a varied type of info mtion throughout the day while travelling by comfortable minibus and on the multiple 'stunning' scenic stops on the way to Salzburg.
I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is short on time and wants to get out of Vienna for the day.
A big thank you to both Peter and Dale (our guide in Salzburg), for an absolutely fabulous day.

This trip was absolutely wonderful! Very clean van, AC, wifi, water. Our guide (driver) Balazs is a very nice young man, very knowledgeable and he treated us travelers as his family. As we drove past different parts of our trip he gave us a lot of info about Austria's rich history, people and places. Very interesting! In Salzburg we met local tour guide Maria, a very proud Salzburgian, she knows everything about history, traditions, people and events, we instantly loved her. Overall this trip was very well organized and executed, everything worked exactly as it was promised, we had a great time, thank you White Alligator Tours!

An excellent day trip, fuss free, with smooth driving and professional tour guidance by Peter. The journey by car was 300km each way, and the weather got colder as we got from Vienna to the Lake District and finally to Salzburg (remember your warm clothing + umbrellas in case of rain!). Peter (and later Maria, our local guide at Salzburg) definitely has a rich working knowledge of Austria, especially since it holds many historical and cultural landmarks. They both spoke English well too.
Only woe - there was no allocated time for lunch, and our free time only commenced after the walking tour at Salzburg ended past 2pm (we hadn't eaten since the pickup for the tour at 6.45am). Would be good if the agency had warned us so we could pack a lunch or pick up some pastries during the rest stops. Other than that, a good experience!

This tour is a great tour, especially for solo travellers, Peter was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable about the salzburg and mondsee area. You will get to visit the sites where they filmed the Sound of Music and enjoy the beautiful scenery that is Austria. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend you go on this tour if you have the time.

This is a great tour. It is very planned, and the guide is punctuated at pick up. Clean and comfortable van. Most impressively our guide Peter, who used to be a journalist, is so knowledgeable, and he knows everything about Saltzberg, Austria, music, wine, and beer. You name it. It is such a fun trip with beautiful scenes and great history in the area.

Pick up and drop off at our hotel was seamless and our driver, Peter was great. We knew it would be a long drive out, but there were a few stops along the way which broke it up. Our guide in Salzburg was really just okay. We thought we would learn a bit more than we felt we did. We would still recommend, but as with any tour, the guide makes it.

We had Balazs as our tourguide. He is very professional, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. He made everyone is happy with the tour and stopped at nice spots. We also had water and hand sanitizer in the van. The wifi is also a plus.

In Aug 2019 we were picked up at 7.00am by Balasz from White Alligator Tours for day trip to Salzburg.
Drove through Austrian Alps and stopped at Linz for coffee and strudel.
Stopped on Attensee for breath taking views, and again at Unterach am Attensee - Klimt statue.
Stopped for half hour at Sankt Gilgen - birthplace of Mozart’s mother.
Drove past Mondsee and arrived Salzburg at 1.00pm and met local guide Veronika.
Walked through the gardens at Mirabell Palace (scenes from Sound of Music) then across the river and through the old city for 1.5 hrs.
Then had free time till 5.00 - visited the cathedral, many squares and shops.
Met Balasz at 5.00 then headed back to Vienna, arriving at 8.30pm.
It was the last week of school holidays so quite a lot of traffic heading home and longer trip than usual.
The tour operators will let you know exactly what time for pick-up, and if you need to be back at a certain time, they will make sure you are!
Hope that helps - I highly recommend this tour!! :)

Do you offer pick-up at Arion Airport Hotel in Vienna? If not, what other ways can I join the group? Is there a meeting place? I am hoping for your response since I am travelling on October. Thank you so much.
Can I possibly have a pick up to and fro my hotel airport even with an extra charge?
