Overview
Not your typical Vienna trip, this educational walking tour is designed to shed light on Vienna's homeless population. With a guide who is homeless and working on reintegrating into society, visit parts of the city important to the lives of this demographic and the country's social system. Listen to your guide's commentary, a mix of personal stories and historical and cultural facts illustrating the complexity of homelessness in Vienna.
What to Expect
Meet your guide and group of fellow curious travelers at a central location in Vienna. Listen to an introductory talk on the topic of homelessness in Vienna and in Austria, which will cover the challenges that homeless people face, the Viennese social system, and the underlying reasons for homelessness. You will be encouraged to share your thoughts and feelings on the subject and engage in a dialogue with your guide, who is homeless, and other group members.

Take off for a walking tour of Vienna to visit places around the city symbolic of the homelessness problem. For instance, visit a park to talk about the topic of people sleeping in public areas. Other stops provide jumping-off points to discuss the various issues facing homeless residents of Vienna and the social institutions tasked with helping them.
