If you’re with kids, opt for the combo discounted package of the Ferris wheel +Madame Tussauds/prater mini train.
The small museum at the entrance is educational for kids who can learn about the history of Vienna and Prater in a fun, albeit rather outdated way.
If you can, opt for a clear day/sunset a the view is great.

The cars were very big and there was lots of window space so everyone on the car could share the view. Before you get onto the Ferris Wheel, there are people taking your picture. And yes, we did buy one. That's what you do when you're on vacation.

Ok, it's expensive for what it is and the view at the top, though quite good, isn't THAT good. It's not exactly a thrilling ride and not much happens.
But.....I wanted to do it as soon as I knew we were going to Vienna. I did it...and I enjoyed it. It's a little bit of history, easy and pleasant. We even bought one of the cheesy pictures they take of you when you get on.
We went on a Monday morning and there was no queue at all.

Even if you haven't seen The Third Man it's worth booking a double-ticket to channel your inner Harry Lime on this historic Ferris wheel followed by the Prater's train ride, great value at around 12 Euros per person.
The 360 degree city views from the wheel's closed carriages are incredible, helped by amazing sunshine on the day we visited. And, even if you don't like fairs, you can't help but enjoy people watching during the little road train's 20-minute tour around the massive site. All life is there and most of it is having innocent, happy fun.

The price of 12 € per person is absolutely too high. Regarding the view, it is OK, but I appreciate more the view when you climb to the Gloriette behind the Schönbrunn castle. The other Prater attractions are surely more attractive and the prices are more acceptable.

I used to visit this place when I was younger and before the reisenrad was "remodeled" to it present tourist trap state.

Recently, my relatives wanted me to meet them in Vienna while they drove from Germany where they live. I was looking forward to revisiting them at this place. However, the facility has gone through a typical tourist upgrade. It is little more than a money maker for the owners of the reisenrad.

The cars have all been redone in cheap plastic and no longer have the charm they previously had for many years. The lines to access the cars are long. The service is laughable.

The most ridiculous part of our visit is when we got in line to enter one of the reisenrad cars. We were directed from and away from the boarding line to "have your photo taken" - When I asked why a photo, the employee said so I "would have a photo of the experience" of riding the reisenrad. The photo was ten euros. Of course, I laughed and declined the photo and boarded the tourist designed car. I don't recommend this facility unless you just want to say that you have ridden on Vienna's ferris wheel.

While the view from the top is beautiful, paying $30 (for 2 adults and a child) for one trip around is outrageous. I had assumed once all the boxes were loaded the "ride" would start...like any other Ferris wheel we've been on, but no. The 15 mins it took to load all the boxes WAS the ride. When we circled back around the doors opened and we were shewed out.

Don’t waste your money. Literally it takes 15-20 mins to go up & down and you finish. I went there at evening to see everything above but city is very dark, I hardly see anything. Try to go daytime instead.
