- 858laurenzh0 contributionsDisappointing…We were not really to excited about the museum, we kinda wanted to rush through there. There was just simply too much information. We thought that the info was complicated to understand and it was kinda underwhelming…Disappointing.Written October 25, 2023
- Sarah C0 contributionsGreat building, shame about staffIt was fascinating to walk through Mozart's house, although the ticket desk was fairly unwelcoming. Some of the rooms were brilliant, but others seemed to wander off-topic. Fortunately with own-language self-guide consoles we could view at our own pace. The staff member handing back bags at the bag check desk was downright surly!Written August 14, 2023
- MyloXyloto12010 contributionsGreat museum. Concert is a introductory to classical music. Music lovers just visit the museum is enoughThe museum itself would have been 5 stars. Great explanation with the tour guide machine, so that you can visit the exhibition at your own pace, without have to follow an actual tour guide. Really gave a holistic perspective into Mozart’s life, works, and the life of people in his time. After the visit to the museum, I watched Amadeus the movie. I recommend you do the same: watching the movie before or after the museum visit, to get a complete experience into Mozart (the movie is partly fictional to exaggerate dramatic effects so some scenes are not factually true) However, I deducted one star because of the concert. Deducting from the admission price, as a student, I paid 27€ for the Mozarthaus concert. The pianist did not seem to have practiced enough. The violin and the cello were beautiful and professional. As a piano player, I could not help but be particularly disappointed. The venue was average, and the repertoire was a bit cliché (they played pieces like Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, The Blue Danube, The Swan by Saint-Saëns, Arabesque by Debussy, etc.). I suppose this concert is designed for tourists who had no experience at all in classical music, since the cello player keeps explaining very basic classical music concepts. I have no problem in this at all, as they are doing a great job promoting classical music to the general public, and I applaud their effort. However it was not I wanted to see when I bought the ticket. Overall, I am a long-time classical music lover and I would have loved to spend the ticket money for a legit concert in Wiener Konzerthaus or other venues. So, if you dont know anything about Classical Music, this concert in Mozarthaus may not be a bad idea. If you are looking for a nice classical concert, I would suggest to look elsewhere.Written March 31, 2023
- MP5kov0 contributionsNothing from Mozart hereI understand that Mozart lived in many places in Vienna and this was just one of them, but there wasn't almost anything belonging to him there. Scarce furniture and other things from that time.Written August 24, 2022

- Momo8000 contributionsSkip itWe left this feeling very disappointed. Aside from this being his former residence, there really wasn't much of Mozart here. Most of his possessions were long gone before the museum was even an idea with much of his life unknown and so instead they tried to flesh out his history with those around him. It's an interesting place to walk through, but they don't really know how each room was used, or what his furniture looked like and so while they try to make it interesting and engaging, there isn't very much to look at and is mostly a lot of sign reading/listening if you paid for the guide. It was very expensive for the minimal experience and enjoyment we got from it.Written December 7, 2020
- Around_the_World0300 contributionsNot so much to discoverIf you’re a really classic music or Mozart fan it’s interesting maybe. Mostly picture commented by audio guides. For a tourist like us with small kids not so much to see. But anyway. It’s a must if you stay in Vienna.Written October 14, 2020
- margaretc0070 contributionsMozart lived hereIt was fascinating to visit this house where Mozart lived during his years in Vienna. It is easily accessible, within the historic center of the city. You get an audio guide which tells you about some of Mozart's more famous compositions which he wrote while he lived here. You can visit his apartment.Written February 25, 2020
- richard21120 contributionsA Bit DullAn attempt to convert and old Vienna townhouse/apartment (which Mozart did use for a few years), into a museum of his life as well as his apartment. Exhibits were very limited and without the audio guide would have been menaningless. All in all, left us feeling a bit flat. An old school museum. Not recommended.Written February 13, 2020
- howied8510 contributionsInteresting but not fascinatingIt was a self-guided tour of the house with audio commentary at each station. It was good information but the house could have used some more furniture to give a better idea of what Mozart's life was like as he labored over writing "The Marriage of Figaro". The adio commentary was informative but long. They need to weed out some of the useless information. This is not an actual museum. Everything on display are all reproductions. The originals are located in various other museums.Written February 8, 2020
- Jae L0 contributionsMozart Figaro House at Domgasse 5 Behind St. Stephen’s CathedralMozart Figaro House is where Mozart lived from 1784 to 1787, and composed his opera “Marriage of Figaro”. The house can be easily reached from the rear of St. Stephen’s Cathedral. [See my uploaded map] Those who visited Mozart Birth House (Mozart Geburtshaus) and Mozart Residence (Mozart Whonhaus) in Salzburg would be disappointed at this Figaro House. Prohibition of picture taking in this house is a damper as well. Don’t have high expectation when visiting Figaro House to reduce the probability of disappointment.Written January 28, 2020
- Adventure8110820 contributionsToo much information (even for a fan)We took this tour because we wanted to find out more about Mozart and his life in Vienna, but found that there is way too much information in the audio guide. This is in spite of the fact that we are fans. As can be expected, our teen son was bored almost from the beginning; and I was lost a quarter way through. Perhaps the attraction can have different levels of interest - and tailor the audio guide accordinglyWritten January 2, 2020
- RafR2540 contributionsNo Dutch audiotour, kids disappointedThe museum is a “read and watch” museum. Zero interaction. As the audiotour was not in Dutch language, our children who are all well interested in music and Mozart were quite disappointed with what is offered here. Time for the Mozarthaus to re-invent their exhibition.Written December 25, 2019

Probably the worst museum that I’ve been to in my life. Full of nothingness and conjecture. No furniture or substance. Only a stupid audio guide that spoke of objects that “might have been” in this house. Save your $12 and get a Wiener schnitzel.

We had such a great time here and learned so much about Mozart, as well as historical Vienna. I highly recommend booking a tour with Katja, she was extremely charming and very informative!

Overall a relatively boring experience. Don’t get me wrong, I am both a history buff and a classical music fan but the set up of the museum with the audioguide was not very interactive and undermined an otherwise very interesting man

I was expecting a lot more from this visit. There was a lot of information about other musicians, I expected more information about mozart. Good to see, glad I did it but I wouldn't go again. Not worth the time or money.

Exhibition about the life of Mozart in the house where he lived for about 3 years. Interesting and well done IF you really are interested in Mozart and have already knowledge about his life and times and his music, otherwise: don't go.

THE WORST. It is so unfair that they open this house, in which Mozart lived only 3 years and that is totally reconstructed. I still don’t understand why is it recommended, price high, quality low. You will just see explanations about Mozart life, not more about its house.

It is a rather small museum and not a whole lot of exhibits, but we spent quite a bit of time listening to the audio guide to learn a bit more about Mozart's life in Vienna. This museum is really recommended if you are into Mozart.

I took a daughter here, who knew nothing about Mozart.
Entry was straightforward. We took audio guides in English.
Audioguides were good, was nice to see everything in there. We took an hour over it, but could have taken up to 90 minutes. There is a fair amount of information.
I have read the other reviews, and they are right that there is a certain amount of guess work as no one is quite sure what any of the rooms were used for. But it's the city where Mozart spent a fair amount of time, and a house he actually lively in. Was informative.
