- Neerajsanghvi0 contributionsGreat trip to HallstattGreat trip and guide. The drive to Hallstatt is long but the guide shared a lot of facts about it, making it interesting along the way. The stoppages while coming and going are good too. There was a guided walking tour in Hallstatt and ample of time to explore the town by yourself. We had a great time and enjoyed it.Written January 1, 2025
- Maria V0 contributionsThe state of SaltA must visit tour you should get either in combination with the activities the place has to offer or just for the unique landscaping and the church We booked the one that included the sky walk, salt mines, and the cable cars with the panoramic view, although the guide we had was not very organised so we missed the ride with the cable cars since there were no tickets left by the time we got there, but we did took the liberty of arranging the boat ride on our own Book in advance your tickets Get comfortable shoes (boots if you visit during winter. It is very slippery in some parts) Do not try local snacks if you have the chance to get them in Vienna. They are cheaper and a lot tastier.Written December 28, 2024
- DCCountryBoy0 contributionsGreat ValueThis trip was a wonderful way to explore the Wachau Valley and countryside around Vienna. Our family found it an excellent use of time and money. The bus is comfortable and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, and fluent in English, French and Spanish. We enjoyed the stop in Durnstein before boarding the boat to Melk. The Wachau Valley was beautiful in the fall with spectacular scenery around every bend. We tour enables you to take the bus up to the Monastery, making the most of your time. Very professional driver and guide - well worth it!Written November 18, 2024

- galahad240 contributionsWorthy visit to BratislavaThe tour itinerary followed as advertised. Arriving in the city , a local guide will be with you at most 2 hrs , then the rest will be your own time. Since the catamaran trip back to Vienna is at 6:30pm you have enough time to roam discover tiny street around old town, and picturesque buildings. After sometimes the allocated time by your own is too much , might get bored waiting for the catamaran trip back to vienna . Recommended a day trip to Bratislava.Written November 5, 2024
- F2187NWpeterd0 contributionsTerribleTerrible Travelling about 10 hours to spend 4 hours in a pretty but not remarkable place wandering around makes no sense. The guided tour of the town barely happened and the short boat ride and then bus back to the town was a waste of time. A terrible waste of a day when we could have spent the time better enjoying Vienna.Written November 2, 2024

- DebzG860 contributionsA worthwhile day trip out of ViennaReally enjoyed this day trip. We started off by visiting the small town of Durnstein. Not much to it but we did enjoy trying (& subsequently buying!) some apricot liqueur. We then got the bus to Spitz, where we picked up the boat for a leisurely 90 minute cruise along the Danube. Thoroughly enjoyed this section of the day as we got a couple of drinks & sat on the top deck & enjoyed the views as we sailed along. We then arrived at Melk but we hadn't booked the Abbey tour. This meant we had a good 2 hours to relax and enjoy a nice lunch and also explore the town. We did visit the Abbey & got to see most of the outside as well as the Abbey shop where we purchased some wine! I would definitely recommend this tour if you've got the time when visiting Vienna.Written September 30, 2024
- dale_river0 contributionsA worthwhile day tour from ViennaThe tour was pretty well organized. There was some confusion at the Opera meeting point—it was raining and the bus arrived late. However, once we took our seats, everything went as described. Our multilingual guide, Tomy, gave the commentary in English and Spanish. The visit to Durnstein was brief (use euro coins for the bus stop WC!), but the village itself, though charming and surrounded by vineyards, is quite small. The Danube cruise from Spitz aboard the MS Durnstein was scenic and relaxing. We ate in the floating restaurant, which was affordable and pleasant. Once in Melk, we waited around in the rain for our tour of the magnificent abbey, guided by a nice young woman, who showed us some of the highlights in the museum and library. The abbey restaurant was also a welcoming spot for a break (yummy coffee & pastries). Despite the rain, the entire all-day experience was worth it, and we're glad we took time out of our stay in Vienna to see some of the Austrian countryside.Written September 17, 2024

- F4464MValanp0 contributionsBeautiful day on the DanubeThis is a full day tour involving a 90 minute bus ride each way. First stop is an old town which is cute, but not much to see there other than tourist stores and ice cream shops. Then boarded a boat for a 90 minute boat ride up the Danube. Beautiful scenery and a nice way to spend the day if the weather is nice. But there is only a few seats outside that are shaded, so hard to be on the deck on a hot sunny day. The other two decks are basically enclosed restaurants with service. You can see well through the windows and the air conditioning is good, but would be better if there were more shaded areas with an outside breeze. After the boat ride is the town of Melk, a beautiful old town with an abbey well worth the trip. Plenty of time for lunch at a restaurant in town, but the walk back up to the abbey in time for the tour is quite a climb.Written September 6, 2024
- bscott65150 contributionsVery nice getaway from the city of ViennaA very nice experience overall. The bus trips were nice and informative (by the tour guide), and the boat ride at 90 minutes was the perfect amount of time to spend on the boat. The stop at the Melk Abbey was nice, but I was not very impressed with the tour given by the Abbey tour guide. We are still glad we went, but were a little disappointed in this portion of the trip.Written August 30, 2024

We have traveled all around Europe, and often use busses like this in cities where we don’t know a lot about them. As such, they provide a good service of providing an overview of a city with historical or practical commentary. Clearly, if we knew everywhere we wanted to go, mass transit would be a better and cheaper option. Also, there are very few of these busses we’ve been on where some of the audio ports didn’t work, or some employees viewing customers as eye-roll inducing ignoramuses (it’s not a great job for anyone). But they do provide an appreciated service, and this particular one was pretty much the same as we’ve experienced all over Europe. We did wonder what a tour in the summer might be like, because even in October with the sun shining through the all the glass on the top, the upper level became positively roasting, with no air conditioning and no way to open windows. My guess would be to try to find an open air bus in the summer and wear a hat and sunglasses.

No need to book online - you can only get the right ticket at the information stands in front of the opera anyway. We got on at Schwedenplatz with our booking printouts (the QR code was scanned there). At the State Opera, the ticket inspector came in and snapped at us (and a few others) that it wasn't a valid ticket, she then printed us a "real ticket".
This "real" ticket is valid from the time it is printed out (looks like a receipt), you can get on or off at any stop, the buses run at regular intervals.
It is advisable to book the Schönbrunn Panoramabahn - this trip through the imperial gardens in the middle of beautiful nature is a unique experience. The view from the Gloriette is magnificent (the train stops there for a few minutes). We got off at the Tirolergarten, where there is an entrance to the zoo - no queue in front of the ticket office. From this entrance it goes down through a small forest to the animal enclosures, etc. We left the zoo at the Palmenhaus exit and got back on the Panoramabahn there. We started with the blue line - the entire Ringstrasse and out to the Danube Tower - this loop takes 2 hours without getting off. A good overview and helpful when deciding where to stay on the next loop.

Three tour lines (blue of a couple of hours on the Danube and the Prater - yellow of 1 hour to Schonbrunn and the Belvedere - red of 1 hour in the city center) that give the opportunity to get an idea of the city and to avoid the metro by taking advantage of the lines of interest. It's cold on the bus. Included in the Vienna Pass (for the duration of the pass) and the Vienna flexi Pass (for 72h). In Schonbrunn the bus had just left and we caught up with it a few moments later and the driver would not open the door. We had to wait almost 1 h for the next bus to arrive. The hop on hop off girl who was at the stop was very unsympathetic. 1h in cold and frost and with his dislike.

The tour was very expensive at 35 euros for the day and the main route circled the inner precinct which could have been easily walked. Limited commentary on the history of the city, mainly music. The timetable was completely wrong with the fifteen minutes between services stretching out to over thirty. The staff, once they'd sold you a ticket were apathetic or rude, giving incorrect information or more interested in their phones. As the bus to take us back to the railway station failed to turn up we were forced to pay out additional monies to catch the underground. A complete waste of money. Recommend a six euro public transport pass and a map.

If your intention is to stay hot, spend more time stopped at traffic lights than driving, see the outskirts of Vienna and miss most of the charm of a beautiful and wonderful city, this is your perfect option. Spend your money on a scenic sauna, you'll get repeated explanations on the audible and you'll end up bored if your choice is the blue or yellow route. I do not recommend the experience at all. Expensive, unattractive and with a 100% tourist service.
Go, walk, observe and enjoy Vienna, it is a beautiful city, with a lot of attractions and a lot of history to see and enjoy, but certainly not getting on a bus where you will waste time, money and patience.

Not really impressed. For the amount of money €30(!) I could have done more. I have never been to Vienna before and wanted to got a sense of the city, I usually take these hop on/hop off tours all over Europe. This one was the worst. The audio was not synced to the tour. The WiFi didn’t work. Then, on my blue line tour the driver pulled over and asked everyone to get out. He told us another bus was coming in five minutes and he was on break. Everyone disembarked, which meant waiting in the cold for the five minutes. I don’t know why he didn’t just tell us all to stay on the bus until the relief bus came. Then, unbeknownst to me, the tour bus turned to red. Without an announcement or informing us we were disembarking a blue line to join a red line. When we stopped at the Opera House, I went to get off thinking I’d catch a red lined the driver rudely informed me I was ALREADY on a red line. Then he played the audio saying red line bus five or six times to drive home the point during the tour, meaning we weren’t synced. Not impressed at all.

If i could give this company no stars, i would. It doesnt even deserve the one star it got. My Daughter and I paid 70 euro for day tickets. The audio wasn't synced, and the driver didn't stop at some stops on the route. It wasn't hop on hop off. It was hop off and wait an hour for another bus to come along. We spent our day waiting for another bus instead of actually sight seeing! On Wednesday the 18/12/2024 at 10:30am a red bus pulled up and two employees who were selling / scanning tickets stood in the doorway of the bus, chatting to the driver and blocking us getting on, we were quite confused but waited to get on as we assumed they would turn and scan our tickets once they were ready, the next thing we knew the bus drove away, I asked one of the employees (brown hair in a pony tail, small and an unapproachable demeanor, I would assume she hates her job) who had been blocking the doorway was that driver not taking passengers and she aggressively snapped at me saying "why didnt you just get on??" in a loud voice. I then explained that her and her colleague were blocking the door and did not usher anyone on or scan tickets, she was extremely dismissive and hostile and rolled her eyes and walked away. Please save your time and money, I would not recommend this company. Its unprofessional, the staff are extremely rude and most of all you see nothing!!!!

The bus has a glass roof, which creates a greenhouse effect, and in the absence of air conditioning, the trip takes place in terrible heat. You can't enjoy it. In a time of global warming, air conditioning cannot be given up.

The internet works on some of the busses but not all, it's about 60%. If you buy the ticket in advance, it's a royal pain because you need to find a yellow shirt associate to convert that into an actual usable ticket. The QR code you get doing the online purchase is not your ticket. In our case it took us 2 stops and 4 associates to be able to get the QR code converted. Wasted time. But the real disappointment is the Night Time tour. It starts at 7pm. It runs 1 hour. Sunset today is 849pm. Yep, not night time. And the green line is every hour, too long between busses.

We had a 2 day ticket. For the most part it was good value but be warned, these buses cannot be relied on if you need to be somewhere at a certain time.
We reached a stop with 15 minutes to spare along with about 15 other people. The bus turns up 15 minutes late but it was full so drove straight past. We then had to walk over a mile to get a connecting bus across the city (25 minute walk). By the time we got the connection we had wasted 1.5 hours of the day. Not good enough!

Hi, would appreciate your advise:- For a 24-hr one...
1) where can i find a list of stops for this particular shop on Hop Off?
2) Dies it cover entry into sites? including Belvedere?

Can find the stops online at their website.
No, it does not include entrance fees

Does this ticket serve as a Vienna Pass for entry into museums? I’ve seen conflicting remarks regarding this.
Written July 20, 2019
There are 3 options as far as I understood. We bought a 2 day pass only. You can buy more expensive pass which give you entry to palaces and museums. On this trip we didn’t think it necessary.

Wat is het verschil tussen big hop on hop off bus en de gewone
Written July 6, 2019
