    Crappy service
23 of our group went here and each had a specific menu and a dessert. They served us the wrong dessert and claimed it was explained to us and we ALL 23 selected it when all they did was just plonk down the wrong dessert and not answer our question whether there was an option. Later on they denied and claimed they informed all three tables there was an Option. When you order a menu your dessert is predetermined so you don’t get to choose but they clearly made a big mistake and wasn’t responsible to admit it They were very rude and I would not rate their service high at all. Just watch the concert and skip the concert. The restaurent Johann left a bitter aftertaste.

We with my husband went to Vienna to celebrate his big birthday, we both like classical music and booked this concert with dinner. Concert was wonderful and unforgetable, but it was ruined by dinner. It was advertised with pictures and we understood (not only us) that dinner will be served at the same premises. Unfortunately, when we arrived 15 min before the start we were told that we need to go to the restaurant , which was 7 min walk. We went to the restaurant and had to wait outside in the cold, because it was closed until 6 pm. Customer service was very poor, we did not get free glass of sparkling wine as advertised, and food was less then average. If we knew that they send us to such restaurant, we would never book it with dinner. Really disappointing

    Great evening
We walked to venue and had a very nice supper. AR it's conclusion walked upstairs and with searing in A section had second row seats. Very nice to have a nice dinner and then go straight to concert hall.

    Disappointed overall.
Perhaps describe the experience more clearly? Not really what we expected with separate tickets. The receptionist neglected to give us the the voucher for our glasses of champagne. Disappointed in the restaurant. The food was average. We were required to order all 4 courses at the same time. Charged extra for water. The concert was nice.

Kursalon: dinner was convenient, concert was terrific!
Although nice, the gourmet dinner was not nearly as lofty as pictured/described, and maybe not worth the price tag, which did not include any beverages. It was, however, very convenient, especially with the rainy weather, since the dining area was in the same building, just a few steps from the hall where the concert was performed. The concert, on the other hand, was truly lovely, a real musical treat that included singing and dancing performances. The performers were very talented and gave it their all to create a great experience. The one thing I would say about the concert is that they should invest in freshening up the performers' costumes so that the visuals sparkle along with the performers. By the way, tickets can be purchased separately for the concert.

    Skip the dinner
The ambiance for the dinner was disappointing. The food was OK but expected more of a fancy fine dining experience. The entrance to the room was thru a back hallway and unmarked metal door which felt like we're entering a storage room. The waiters were dressed casually ...would have been nice if wore jackets or uniforms. The music was fantastic but should j ow that it is intermixed with ballet dancing and opera acting which distracted from the music. Again we were expecting a more formal experience but a lot of the attendees were dressed very casually. Bottom line, the music and show were worth the 65 price (the price shown on the ticket) but would skip the dinner - you ca n have a much nicer experience for less than 65 per person ( plus drinks) at many other nicer restaurants.... so buy a ticket just for the show and don't need to get dressed up for it.:)

    A coat check too many
The meal and the concert were fine. A mandatory coat check system at 2 euros an item was not fine. The excuse for the charge -security- was ridiculous.

    Lovely experience
A delightful evening with wonderful dinner included. The concert was excellent! A small orchestra, a tenor, a soprano and two ballet dancers. Every single performer gave their all. The venue is beautiful as well. Highly recommend!

    Concert and dinner at Kursalon
The concert, singers and dancers were excellent. All top quality performers. Highly recommend. The dinner was ok. Probably better off eating elsewhere and coming to the concert after. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cool, the first 3 courses were very good. The desert was awful - inedible in fact. So overall we enjoyed the occasion very much but next time we’ll do it better.

Great Concert - shame about the meal!
The concert was very enjoyable - a varied programme with an accomplished salon orchestra , opera singers and ballet dancers. It was exactly what we were expecting and the venue is historic and impressive. We paid extra for seats in block A, near the front, and as we went up to the concert hall about 30minutes before the start time, we were given good seats in the third row (rows 1 & 2 are for those who pay even more!) We were, however, extremely disappointed by the three course meal for which we had paid a considerable extra sum: the food was nicely presented but very underwhelming for what is advertised as a gourmet meal. The portions were very small - for example, a tiny bowl of soup or consomme as a first course. We noticed that people on some other tables were given bread rolls and asked if we could have some - but apparently this was not included in our menu. I chose Tafelspitz which consisted of two small slices of meat and about a teaspoonful each of pan fried potatoes and spinach. For dessert - which was described in English as "apricot dumplings" (sic), we were served with one small dumpling. The service was also very poor for such a prestigious meal: We ordered a bottle of white wine to share between three of us, and also a glass of red wine to accompany the beef dish. This was forgotten, and, by the time we were able to ask again, my son had finished his small plate of Tafelspitz. The service was rushed between the first and second courses, then there was an extremely long delay before the dessert was served. There was then another long delay before we were able to ask for the bill - in the meantime we were not asked if we would like coffee or anything else. When what appeared to be the head waiter arrived, we explained the reasons why we were disappointed and that the menu was inaccurate - at least in respect of the incorrect plural in the English translation. He made a show of listening and wrote down some details on the back of the bill . He explained the poor service by saying the staff were new. He did not otherwise apologise. After I paid by card for the bottle of wine we had had, he left behind the paper on which he had made the note of our complaints! We surmise that people attending the concert are likely to be doing so just once ever while visiting Vienna and that the venue is therefore not worried that they won't come back if they don't enjoy the experience. This experience definitely spoiled the first part of our evening and, if we had known in advance, we would have preferred to eat elsewhere before the concert -we would probably have pIaid significantly less, had more choice and more generous portions Our advice would therefore be to avoid the meal and just attend the concert. .

Lovely evening at the Kursalon, Vienna
We booked the meal and concert package. Sadly the food and service let the meal down but thankfully the concert more than made up for it as the musicians, singers and dancers were superb.

Avoid the dinner, but a great performance
At the outset we need to clarify that the rating for the dinner is one and for the actual performance a clear 5. We booked the VIP dinner and performance. The dinner is in a banqueting style hall and not a restaurant. It was not well supported on the evening we went, which meant a lot of empty tables with overturned chairs which destroyed any ambience they intended. We were quickly seated, but it took nearly 30 minutes to attract the attention of a server to place our drinks order. Then 3 attempts before we could get a side plate for the bread - obviously forgotten as several other guests also had to request this. People who arrived well after us were already on their second course when we were finally able to place our order. Sadly, they they brought out the wrong first course. When we explained that it was not what we ordered, the server first spoke with the manager and then had the audacity to come back and ask if we are sure it is not what we ordered! In any event, one taste and we left this course. The second course was soup, served with a piece of bread in the soup which was about half the size of the bowl itself. The main course average at best. The desert we chose was a apricot dumpling, which was not properly cooked and the dough part was still raw - so another course not eaten. In our experience, DO NOT book for the dinner. The performance itself takes place on the second floor in a large hall with surprisingly good acoustics. However, they do not allow any jackets other than formal blazers into the room. Many people were wearing puffer jackets and these (any any other jacket) had to be removed and checked in [at a cost of 2 euro]. No explanation why and no sympathy for those who were cold - although bizarrely they brought some blankets into the performance hall! The performance comprised 9 musicians, 2 soloists and 2 dancers. It featured a variety of classical music and received a well deserved standing ovation afterwards. A wonderful evening, but spoiled by a shocking dinner experience

Tasteful intrk to Vienna food and music
The pre dinner 4 course meal at the nearby Liebsteinsky restaurant was superb. 2 minutes from the Kursalon. Concert was varied and professional with outstanding ballet, chamber musicians and solo vocalists. Highly recommended.

    The Show was Fabulous
We did not do the dinner, but the show was fantastic. We paid a little extra to get VIP seating and it was well worth it. A reasonably small group of musicians, but when they start up the sound is fabulous. During the course of the show dancers and singers appear. It really adds to the experience. When they break into the Blue Danube waltz .... you KNOW you are in Vienna. I normally do not see things twice, but when I am back in Vienna, I will see this show again! If you are checking a coat, it would behoove you to get downstairs quickly as the line is long. There is also an elevator for people who need a little help.

Great introduction to classical music. Well organised all seat categories are good just depends if you want to be near the front. We paid for category b and were 10 rows from the front. The show had music, opera singers and ballet dancers with a touch of humour added in. As a first introduction to classical music I can not recommend it enough.

In July I purchased 2 VIP tickets for 110 euros each for this concert, mainly because the Kursalon Wien venue was within walking distance of our hotel in Vienna. Four weeks later I received an email informing me the concert venue had been changed but there would be an "organized bus transfer" from the Kursalon to the new location at 8 pm the night of the concert.

The evening of the September 10th concert we arrived at Kursalon Wien at 7:40 pm. A contemporary art fair had filled the Kursalon that day and the artists were dismantling their displays and loading their vehicles. I asked at the front desk where to wait for the bus and was told it was best to wait in the parking lot at the bottom of the main staircase. We waited there alone until 3 people who spoke only French arrived, looking to attend the concert. I showed them my email regarding the organized bus transfer, but after waiting several minutes they left. At 7:55 pm I emailed Sound of Vienna (I did not have a phone number), stated we were waiting for the bus, and asked if plans had changed. I received no response. At 8:23 pm I again emailed Sound of Vienna, stated no bus had appeared, we were returning to our hotel, and I expected a full refund. I received no response.

When I returned to the US a week later I again emailed Sound of Vienna stating I still had received no refund but expected one. To date, I have received no response and no refund. A big disappointment and a surprise as everyone else on our 10 day European trip was scrupulously honest. As there are numerous concert options in Vienna, I suggest you not deal with Sound of Vienna.

We thoroughly enjoyed all of the performances. The musicians were lovely and filled the beautiful room with classic music . The singers were amazing. Without microphones, they easily projected their impressive voices to the back of the room..

The coat check was bogged down before the show. I suggest to not wear a heavy coat inside. All heavy coats must be coat checked since there is no space for them in the seating area.

Dear Becky, thank you very much for your feedback. We are excited to see that you have enjoyed the experience. Since we have opened our cloakroom for the first time after summer the day before your visit again there were some issues with guests not getting the information that our cloakroom is mandatory so some of them had to return back to cloakroom. Usually everything works fine and our staff makes great job on managing the flow. Nevertheless we appreciate your feedback very much and we hope that we might welcome you some day again.

Pros: I enjoyed the performance, a non traditional combination of classical musical played on typically classical instruments sometimes accompanied by ballet like dance and/or opera style singing. Cons: The staff were unnecessarily sharp about mandatory coat check although perhaps this is a cultural difference. I’m not sure that the seat I received was actually category A. Plenty of photos of the performance were taken which I know these days is standard but against the no cameras policy that was posted throughout the venue. I thought the staff would at least try to stop the people who were recording the whole performance on their phones - this was quite distracting and in some instances blocked the other audience members’ view of the stage.

I wanted so much to love this but unfortunately the audience affected my enjoyment of the evening. Despite the announcement not to take photos or videos during the performances, there was a large bus load group of tourists who either did not speak English or German or just chose to ignore the instructions. One woman three rows ahead of me took videos the whole night. When two other women in the row in front of me (not with the large group) saw them getting away with it, they began doing videos etc too. Very distracting and annoying.

No one from the venue patrolled the area. It seemed they were more interested in selling champagne at intermission and 5 euro programs.

Two words to describe the evening: Tourist Trap

The musicians were good, the singers were excellent and the dancers just okay.

Overall, although the surroundings are nice and the music is classic, I would NOT recommend this.

We loved this concert. The musicians were ourstanding, selections were moving, the singers and dancers were all lovely. This was a real treat for us to be in Vienna and have the opportunity to attend this concert. It will be one of our best memories of Vienna.
The only disappointment for us was that cell phones were asked to be turned off during the performance. They are quite the distraction.

This was a great night out. The music was fun, the musicians were great, dancing and singing were great. Based on all the other reviews it is exactly what you expect. It’s not flash, and very touristy but as long as you go expecting that it’s great. Do go early so you can get a good seat. I would recommend this if you are visiting Vienna, my teenage daughter (16) who is not into classical music would also recommend it (I think the dancing and singing helped break it up for her) - it’s a good introduction to a different type of music.

The show itself was great with a variety of music from different composers. The opera singers and the dancers also made the show vibrant and engrossing.

We paid extra for front seats, but the usher seated is at the middle section at the side. If you want really and truly front seats, pay for the VIP.

By the time I got there, I asked My money Back, but they didn’t. The Saloon is tacky, too much light inside, the seats are so close to each other, it looked like, there Would be a school presentation. The extra star is to the the musicists, because they are really good, but If you are going to see an orchestra, forget about it, its a classical music presentation, a touristic track for nearly €158 couple. Really!

A very beautiful venue located at the city park of Vienna. I perchased the ticket online and finding it was very easy. The performance was good and entertaining but not at the same level as the price indicated. Therefore I would recommend this concert to people who are new to classical music.
