This is a quaint town that's home to Marillenschnaps
Krems, first mentioned in an Otto III certificate in 995, is located at the confluence of the Krems & Danube Rivers in the lower Wachau valley. It was a vibrant city in the 11th and 12th centuries. Today, it's the primary producer of Marillenschnaps, an apricot brandy. You pass through the "Old Gate to enter the old town area of Stein where the Piaristenkirche is located. The Piarists is a teaching order that took over the Franciscan church during the reign of Emperor Joseph II.

Alexandra met us at our hotel, and we proceeded to walk from there. She gave us a very informative tour of the "Old Town" part of the city, which was extremely interesting. She took her time with us, and answered all our questions. Alexandra dropped us off where the Old Town and New Town meet, and also made some suggestions for doing things in New Town. We scheduled the tour the day we arrived so that we were able to visit the places that Alex suggested.
