- L743UWdenises0 contributionsBest private tour service in SalzburgOur guide Patrick was absolutely amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable, and asked about our interests. Service was beyond perfection. - jodim2580 contributionsAn amazing day trip!!Our day trip with Manfred was fabulous. We were only in Salzburg for 1.5 days so we needed a tour that covered a lot! We were able to see the beauty of the mountains along with some history. Manfred drove us through some of the most beautiful areas throughout the day. The salt mine tour was fun and informative! We had lunch overlooking the town of Berchtesgaden and the mountains. Gorgeous! Following that, we were able to see the site of Hitler’s main home in Obersalzberg and then Eagles Nest. Manfred is extremely knowledgeable in the history. We learned so many things we did not know before. I would 100% recommend this tour with Manfred as your guide! He also gave us lots of tips and restaurant recommendations for the city of Salzberg. Thank you, Manfred!Written October 23, 2024
- Jennifer C0 contributionsWonderful Day in Lake district with exceptional driver guidePatrick picked us up at our hotel in a very clean van and expertly navigated through traffic and narrow village roads, all while providing expert personable conversation about the area. He took us through his childhood town, explained history, culture and natural facts in a pleasant manner. The "secret" stops for lake views were spectacular. I was especially pleased that he anticipated my love of farm animals and made some extra stops to indulge me. A wonderful day overall - not to be missed if you need an intelligent and thoughtful guide in Austria.Written October 2, 2024
- bweltken0 contributionsGreat tour of Hallstatt and the Salzburg region! Our family had a really great day with Manfred as he led us on our tour of Hallstatt and Berghof during our time in Salzburg. Manfred was very knowledgeable of the surrounding areas and we had a great time seeing the beautiful mountain views. We got to see a variety of different sights to include lakeside resorts and towns, castles, mountain ranges, famous spots from the filming of The Sound of Music as well as historical WW2 locations. Manfred gave us a lot of time in each location to really explore the different spots and we enjoyed learning about the region. Rain and Snow in previous days had closed the road to Eagles Nest but Manfred quickly pivoted and we had a very informative time exploring Berghof and the underground bunkers. We would definitely recommend Manfred and MCM Tours for sightseeing in Salzburg.Written October 1, 2024
- Flyer3195430 contributionsFantastic South Tyrol day tour with memories to cherish for a lifetimePatrick and Manfred were excellent tour guides taking us on a magnificent tour of South Tyrol with their extensive knowledge of the region and its history. The weather treated us to the first autumn snow and they were just as excited about this as we were. The tour was unique and it did not feel like they were just going through the motions. Not only did we get to enjoy green meadows, we also got to see the snow covered Alps, quaint little towns and hiatoric old buildings. This is a day that we will cherish and talk about for a long time in the future. Baie dankie! The van Stadens from South AfricaWritten September 23, 2024

- paulmW4241UL0 contributionsEagles Nest and ObersalzbergStunning views, nice weather (arranged by Patrick and the weather gods), great driver, wonderful lunch. Patrick had excellent knowledge, taking us to all the places with the relevant history. Patrick showed us photos of actual WW2 documents that only he has, given by those who were there, or were the descendants of the above. His lunch recommendation was excellent, with unique views as a bonus. Would recommend Patrick to anyone looking for a private tour.Written September 11, 2024
- rickleft30 contributionsBeautiful Day in the Lake District AustriaManfred picked us up at our hotel and after discussing our interests, he customized the itinerary to our interests. We drove toward the Lake District from Salzburg, with several stops at his suggestion that we never would have thought of (specifically, Hangar 7). The stunning drive included view stops and local insight. At Wolfgangsee, Manfred left us for a leisurely lunch on the water at the White Horse, with instructions on how to take the ferry on a lake crossing back to where he met us for a drive back, again with photo stops. It was lovely day, and Manfred was also generous with advice on our next stop (Vienna). He is professional, knowledgeable and personable; an ideal guide.Written September 11, 2024

- Meander310008036980 contributionsWhat a way to spend a day…My husband and I took the Hills are alive and Hallstatt tour today and had the most magical day. We chose this tour based on previous reviews, our limited time in Salzburg and our need to avoid large crowds and be comfortable. This tour did not disappoint and responded to all these requirements. From booking to tour completion, I could not fault MCM tours. They are clearly highly respected given the access they have to sites as well as ability to secure excellent bookings at restaurants in Hallstatt. Some of the stops we made would simply not be able to happen with a big bus tour. Lena was our guide for the day and she was outstanding. Her knowledge of the sites was excellent and her confidence and familiarity with the roads in busy traffic within Salzburg and surrounds had us at the train station with ample time. Further, she had a genuine interest in chatting about our home (Australia) which meant we could chat about the different ways our countries worked. It was very authentic. My biggest praise also has to go to the way Patrick and Manfred provided a sympathetic and helpful approach to some cancelled internal European flights. Any other tour company would have dismissed our situation and carried on, but these guys provided so much relief and our tour was able to continue. I can’t thank them enough for their efforts given this tour has been a dream of mine for many years. Overall, I could not recommend more highly MCM tours, and Lena as a guide for the day. If we’re ever fortunate enough to revisit this magical place we will surely book with them again for another tour.Written July 25, 2024

I had high expectations for this tour but the scenery, our guide and the castles surpassed everything. Our guide Patrick was beyond excellent; knowledgeable, friendly and on every detail went the extra mile e.g. in the morning we stopped at the Gollinger waterfall which was an unexpected but beautiful treat. And then at lunchtime he'd made a reservation for us on the off chance at a hotel local to the Eagles Nest. We had a fantastic meal sitting on the roof terrace with views of the castle in a restaurant we would never have found ourselves. In addition Patrick had collected pictures, information & anecdotes which further enhanced the whole experience. It was a glorious day weather wise & I cannot praise Patrick highly enough. If you enjoy history, scenery and want a charming, knowledgeable & entertaining guide then this is the tour for you.

Incredible scenery from, perhaps, the best mountaintop in the Alps. History pictured with FDR, Chamberlain, And the villains of WWII. Pretty drive up and short walk from house to best view. Check months closed before going.

The lift up to the castle makes it so much easier and the bird show and all the other activities they do there are great. Easy place to spend a full day and great history to the place as well.

One of the best private tour companies we have used!
Manfred and Patrick do everything they can to make certain what you want to see and experience comes true! From picking you up at your hotel, to explaining in detail the background histories concerning where you are going to visit, to going the extra mile (literally) to sneak in an extra site, they are a delight to spend the day with:-)! Actually, for us it was two days! We liked our first day of private touring with them so much that we booked an additional day! We highly recommend you contact MCM Tours & Travel Salzburg for all of your sightseeing needs in Salzburg and surrounding areas!

We would like to know how much historical information is told about Eagles Nest. We are both interested in history and don't want to just look at the sights.
