About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- K4195EKdavidm0 contributionsVIP table with no view.Excellent food. Musicians are very talented. The one thing that upset us is we payed for gold vip tickets which guaranteed a window and view. Our table was behind a wall not window. Did not have view that we paid for. Very disappointed.Written September 15, 2024
- Lauren N0 contributionsAn evening to remember. We were seated outside on the terrace overlooking Salzburg, which provided us with a beautiful view of the city and mountains from under a shady tree. The service was excellent and the food delicious. We had the classic menu but there was a vegetarian option. The concert was fantastic - in one of the rooms of the fortress, the atmosphere was perfect. It was very warm in the room due to the weather, however this was the only issue we had. The repertoire was a nice selection of well known pieces by Mozart and others.Written September 2, 2024
- DavidYogaWhiskey0 contributionsDinner with a view! 😍Amazing dinner and incredible view from atop the fortress. The day was fantastic and the music capped off a memorable evening.Written August 30, 2024
- gunnarwall0 contributionsMozart on the mountain - wow!Great experience. Fine musicians, nice music by Mozart and others. Inspiring surroundings in the old castle. And a little extra fun to take the cable car up the mountain. Also: when we sat and listened there was a thunderstorm outside, it created a fantastic atmosphere. Be sure to get up to the castle so early so you can stroll around and maybe take a glass before the concert!Written August 26, 2024
- Tatev70 contributionsDinner and concert in a fortressThe VIP dinner was nice and the restaurant had beautiful views. However what made it 5 star for me was the concert. To hear Mozart, in the city of his birth in a beautiful music room in a fortress was truly magical. I would highly recommend.Written August 24, 2024
- rkisner0 contributionsVery Happy we chose to do this event! This was a wonderful evening. We purchased the VIP package. We were disappointed we were not seated outside. They didn't use the outdoor seating because of the potential for rain. Our table was next to a window with a beautiful view of the mountains. We had a very nice relaxing meal. We saw the sunset before the concert. The concert was a treat. It was a very special setting. The musicians were quite talented.Written August 13, 2024
- 286erikai0 contributionsGreat experience! Question for the operatorThis experience was awesome, would definitely do it again! The VIP dinner package was well worth it for our group of 6, and the concert was excellent. We attedned the Best of Mozart Concert at Fortress Hohensalzburg on the evening Monday, August 5. The program did not list the song that was performed during the 'Encore' and I am hoping someone can share what the song title / composer was for this song?Written August 12, 2024
- 658lucyl0 contributions1st class experienceThe most wonderful evening. We had a 1st class dining experience with a beautiful 3 course meal and bottle of lovely Austrian wine. We sat on the terrace and because we were there 10 mins early we had the pick of the tables. The waiting staff were fantastic and it was a pleasure to tip them accordingly. We then had front row seats at the concert at the top of the castle. Music was wonderful with a glass of Prosecco at the interval. Fantastic value for money and a very special evening.Written August 8, 2024
- Cruiser053909658720 contributionsBest way to see the fortressI mean a fantastic dinner in the fortress with a view of Salzburg countryside. With every penny. Plus a concert in the fortress music Hall. Absolutely gorgeous. Even our thirteen year old daughter loved it. Though she found her amazing looking pasta a little too fancy, so they quickly, graciously whipped her up some simple pasta.Written July 17, 2024
- loriea1660 contributionsGo early to explore the fortressAmazing Dinner. Surprisingly the highlight of our dinner was the soup! OMG it was amazing. Everything else was wonderful as well but the soup was the star. VIP was totally worth it, restaurant seats were at the window and front row concert tickets - that was important because it was warm and those seats were closest to the open windows. Bring a fan if your going in the summer. We read other reviews and went early to explore. The cable car let us up 45 minutes early so we had plenty of time to walk around the fortress. Great experience - the pianist was phenomenal as was the entire band. We were too tired to stay for the entire performance and left and intermission.Written July 12, 2024
- rory c0 contributionsAmazing experience, don't miss the opportunityAmazing experience. We booked it last minute and couldn't have been more pleased. The Golden VIP package was amazing. We had a romantic dinner with one of the best views available anywhere on earth. Dinner was outstanding, came with 2 bottles of wine and 2 aperitives and dessert and a coffee each. It was perfect. The staff was very very very professional and friendly. When your done with dinner you just get up and walk to the concert where you are sat in the very front row .. well well well worth the moneyWritten July 3, 2024
- loliale0 contributionsExcellent dinner, unparalleled viewsWe purchased the golden VIP dinner and the food and wine was excellent. We also had front row seats to the concert which was also very great with an exceptional pianist . The cable car let us go up early so we had an hour to wander around the fortress.Written June 27, 2024
- michaelgL6709VW0 contributionsGreat experienceThis was a wonderful experience. They provide drinks. The music was amazing. Te fortress has the best views of the city. It’s worth coming earlier and visiting the fortress museums and sites.Written June 27, 2024
- xenophile230 contributionsSkip the boatThe concert at the fortress with the sun setting behind the musicians was pure magic. The boat ride wasn’t much to write home about. We didn’t see much and it was really hot on board; I wouldn’t opt for that again. There is a two+ hour break between the end of the 5pm boat ride and the concert, which allowed for plenty of time for dinner or at least a glass of grüner veltliner while soaking up the views.Written June 26, 2024
- Travel7830500 contributionsDo this if you have time!Well worth the money. We went early to explore the castle, it is huge with some great museums. Dinner was actually quite good, with window seats overlooking the city. Concert was fabulous.Written June 6, 2024

This was not as enjoyable as it should have been mainly because of the lack of coordination.
WARNING: this is not ONE tour experience, it is three separate activities that are sold as one package. But you get passed from one activity to another with no coordination, multiple tickets, and most importantly no transport from one activity to another.
If you have reduced mobility it is actually a rush to get from one thing to the next.
The boat trip was nice, good info and a good view along the river.
BUT THEN, there was a hike across town to get to the funicular railway up to the castle. Nobody to help you where to go or guide you. You're left to your own devices.
Once at the top there is a queue to get into dinner at the Panorama Restaurant.
This is a conveyor belt of a restaurant but which appears to pay no attention to the fact that people have a concert to get to.
Drinks and food were good but were much delayed arriving so that we ended up having to gobble down our food or we would miss the concert start time.
All through dinner we had to chase up to hurry things along.
Even at the end we had to chase down a waitress in order to settle our check.
Then we had to rush through the castle to get to the concert and only just got there with 5 mins to spare.
The concert was actually delightful.
That made up for the rest of the experience. The rating would have been worse if the concert hadn't been so good.
We were in a bad room when we got there but relaxed with the music.
Not the best of experiences overall - spoilt by a lack of coordination between the three separate elements.
If I was doing it another time I would NOT recommend this combo but would instead just get the tickets for the concert.

This was one of our favorite nights from our trip. We booked the ViP package - mainly for the view at dinner - and we were not disappointed! Breathtaking! The meal itself was delicious, and the service was attentive and fun. The musicians put on a truly lovely concert and the location cannot be beat. Although this is certainly a “tourist experience,” don’t let that put you off. You’ll be treated to fine meal, in a gorgeous setting, followed by a first class musical performance. Our group ranged in age from 16 to 70, and this was evening we’ll all remember.

This was such a high value experience! We began with a 45min boat ride, which allows you to see and enjoy the city from a different point of view. After the boat ride, you walk about 20min to the base of the Fortress and take a cable car up to the top. Once there, the restaurant serves a beautiful meal with a breathtaking view of the mountains. Drinks are not included in the price of the ticket. After the meal, you enter the Fortress and climb many flights of stairs to enjoy a beautiful concert. There is a lot of walking to and from the Fortress depending on where you park, so wear good walking shoes! I would recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Salzburg!

Taken as a last minute opportunity to fill our evening in Salzburg. Absolutely amazing, highly recommend. I would consider this to be a must do. To actually finish your evening with a 2 hrs concert including music from Mozart, in the town he was born in, in a castle that is almost 1000 years old… is incredible!

This was a great experience for us and probably the best "thing to do in Salzburg.
Good food with a breathtaking views from the fortress. Service was excellent and the souffle was the best we both have ever had. The Mozart concert was wonderful, especially a solo violin performance of Monti's Czardas. We can honestly highly recommend Mozart Concert and VIP Dinner with River Cruise in Salzburg.

The river cruise was ok, nothing particularly interesting about it and the group behind us talked loudly the whole time so it was difficult to hear the narration of the cruise. Walked from the river to the fortress (a little bit of a hike) but the dinner was pretty good. The concert was lovely but it was so hot in the room that lots of people left at intermission. The views from the fortress at sunset were spectacular and the music was lovely. Overall, an enjoyable evening.

This is somewhat misrepresented as a single combined tour. Instead it is tickets to three separate events and you are expected to get yourself from the ship to the funicular and the walk is a bit far if you have mobility issues. This should be stated in the description.
The boat cruise was delightful and the captain was a joy. I was nice to go beyond the city center and see some of the outlying areas.
Dinner was good and the views were amazing.
Getting from the dinner to the concert involved many steps which, again, should have been disclosed. The concert was lovely.
Note: Tours should include approximate walking distance and clear indications of how many steps are involved. Also, there is no tour guide included since these are three separate tickets.

High quality dinner and stunning views (worth arriving a little early for).
Music was a very talented string quartet with a piece by a pianist. Overall a great experience.
Advise to wear a coat on the river cruise. We had no issues, but anyone with mobility issues should be aware the river cruise is quite a walk from cable car and the events are organised separately.

I was billed twice for this event and cant find a way to contact Trip Advisor to advise them that they need to reverse one of the charges. I contacted the event operator and they told me the responsibility for charging my credit card was with Trip Advisor. I would appreciate getting an email from Trip Advisor telling me that they reversed one of the charges.

We did the River cruise, dinner and concert. The cruise was just ok - it was very hot and uncomfortable. Additionally, it was challenging to see the things they were pointing out because there were awnings of some sort at the top of the side windows. If you weren’t sitting right next to a window, you really couldn’t see the sights. We would not do this again.
However, the dinner and Mozart concert were fabulous! Dinner was at the Panorama Restaurant, which overlooks Salzburg and the mountains. We had an amazing view of the landscape as the sun set. The food was good and our waiter was great. Afterward, we walked up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress for the concert, which was fabulous - very, very talented musicians!
Our advice: Skip the River cruise, go all in on dinner and concert.

What does it mean that the Fortress Hohensalzburg and the Best of Mozart Fortress Concert Entry/Admission fees are not included ? How much are they ?
Written July 7, 2019
I was wondering the same thing when looking at the details - but when attending in early July 2019 there were no additional fees for the funicular, dinner, or concert.

The tour description says "return to the original point" but the I didn't see any further details. Does it mean there is no transport from the tour organizer but rather tour takers walk back themselves? Thanks.
