      Great evening in Salzburg
This was a great experience for us and probably the best "thing to do in Salzburg. Good food with a breathtaking views from the fortress. Service was excellent and the souffle was the best we both have ever had. The Mozart concert was wonderful, especially a solo violin performance of Monti's Czardas. We can honestly highly recommend Mozart Concert and VIP Dinner with River Cruise in Salzburg.

Mozart on the mountain - wow!
Great experience. Fine musicians, nice music by Mozart and others. Inspiring surroundings in the old castle. And a little extra fun to take the cable car up the mountain. Also: when we sat and listened there was a thunderstorm outside, it created a fantastic atmosphere. Be sure to get up to the castle so early so you can stroll around and maybe take a glass before the concert!

      1st class experience
The most wonderful evening. We had a 1st class dining experience with a beautiful 3 course meal and bottle of lovely Austrian wine. We sat on the terrace and because we were there 10 mins early we had the pick of the tables. The waiting staff were fantastic and it was a pleasure to tip them accordingly. We then had front row seats at the concert at the top of the castle. Music was wonderful with a glass of Prosecco at the interval. Fantastic value for money and a very special evening.

Go early to explore the fortress
Amazing Dinner. Surprisingly the highlight of our dinner was the soup! OMG it was amazing. Everything else was wonderful as well but the soup was the star. VIP was totally worth it, restaurant seats were at the window and front row concert tickets - that was important because it was warm and those seats were closest to the open windows. Bring a fan if your going in the summer. We read other reviews and went early to explore. The cable car let us up 45 minutes early so we had plenty of time to walk around the fortress. Great experience - the pianist was phenomenal as was the entire band. We were too tired to stay for the entire performance and left and intermission.

Amazing experience, don't miss the opportunity
Amazing experience. We booked it last minute and couldn't have been more pleased. The Golden VIP package was amazing. We had a romantic dinner with one of the best views available anywhere on earth. Dinner was outstanding, came with 2 bottles of wine and 2 aperitives and dessert and a coffee each. It was perfect. The staff was very very very professional and friendly. When your done with dinner you just get up and walk to the concert where you are sat in the very front row .. well well well worth the money

      Excellent dinner, unparalleled views
We purchased the golden VIP dinner and the food and wine was excellent. We also had front row seats to the concert which was also very great with an exceptional pianist . The cable car let us go up early so we had an hour to wander around the fortress.

      Great experience
This was a wonderful experience. They provide drinks. The music was amazing. Te fortress has the best views of the city. It’s worth coming earlier and visiting the fortress museums and sites.

      Skip the boat
The concert at the fortress with the sun setting behind the musicians was pure magic. The boat ride wasn’t much to write home about. We didn’t see much and it was really hot on board; I wouldn’t opt for that again. There is a two+ hour break between the end of the 5pm boat ride and the concert, which allowed for plenty of time for dinner or at least a glass of grüner veltliner while soaking up the views.

A Very special Salzburg Evening with Amazing views to boot
This was just great- the cruise on this part of the Danube was just ordinary, but once you got out and took the funicular up to the castle for a great dinner with wonderful views, and then heard a wonderful chamber music Mozart concert in the castle- it was a completely special experience.

Well worth the money. We went early to explore the castle, it is huge with some great museums. Dinner was actually quite good, with window seats overlooking the city. Concert was fabulous.

Wow, these musicians were incredibly talented and the ambience was so special. The views from the Fortress were outstanding. We loved the music that was selected. A nice compilation of Mozart and others.

      Spectacular Salzburg
The boat ride was enjoyable with plenty of historical details accompanied by the photogenic cityscape. Beverages were available for a small fee during the trip. Good fun and experience especially the ‘dancing boat’ which happens at the end of the cruise.

      Wonderful views, dinner and music
The venue was lovely with wonderful views, the service and food were first class and very good value for money. The concert was excellent and not crowded. Take time to look outside at the wonderful views. I would recommend this evening for something a little different.

The description of the dinner in the advertising was "Enjoy a dinner with marvelous views to Salzburg City and its surroundings". There were no views while at dinner. The dinner was in a crowded restaurant at the fortress which had no more atmosphere than your average restaurant in the city. The food was decidedly average ( we had the standard menu so I cannot comment on the VIP one) - a tomato soup that tasted like ketchup, a roast chicken dish that was pretty dry and a dessert which was beautiful, but bland. Drinks were not included and the prices were quite steep! They tried to sell us a 90 euro bottle of wine. What a waste that would have been paired with the boring food. In the end we settled for the cheapest wine on the menu at 36 euros.

The concert was absolutely outstanding, a varied program which included some of the favorites you would expect in a touristic concert, but also some less well-known pieces. The orchestra was fantastic. I was not expecting much, given the touristy nature of the evening, but they were truly talented. The concert was in a beautiful hall in the fortress, which allowed you to imagine you were back in Mozart's time, listening to his beautiful music. In the end, the concert made it all worthwhile, but... if it were possible, I would skip the dinner and just do the concert. We are giving this three stars, but in truth the concert was a 5 star event and the dinner would rate 2 stars.

Were somewhat underwhelmed by this experience. Admittedly we visited on a cold rainy and windswept evening so were unable to fully appreciate the exterior areas of the castle. The actual dining room was however warm and cosy and stylishly furnished with linen tablecloths etc.. The food was, however, mediocre to say the least. The soup was watery with absolutely no flavour and the chicken also pretty tasteless.
Our main grievance however, concerned the fact that for the concert we had paid an extra £20 to sit in the 'first seven rows'. On arriving, however, we found that there were only eight rows in total and our 'reserved' seats were on the seventh.
Based on the overall experience I would, in future, choose one of the many other Mozart concert experiences on offer in Salzburg and visit the castle as a separate trip.

The transfer to the location was great, the dinner was good, very friendly staff, good traditional food and sufficient options, size of the portion right. The concert was in a great hall, unfortunately nearly empty due to Corona restrictions, which gave an unpleasant feeling. Popular music has been played. Made to reach a width audience.

Dear Guest, thank you for your nice feedback about the dinner and your comments regading the concert hall. Looking forward to welcoming you in the future once again, when the actual restrictions are removed and more guests attending for a greater atmosphere. We opted for the standard dinner with allocated seats in the concert hall. Took awhile to check you in but once at the table service was prompt and efficient. Although the drinks menu doesn't mention it you can get glasses of wine and also half bottles. We each had a prosecco and a 0.5l of wine = €30. The Vip folk got what looked like beef tenderloin and then the local specialty dessert Nokerel. Our pud was a choc mouse with berries. I thought the pace of the food / service was right. Meal finished by 8 pm and concert started at 8.30. They played for 40 mins had a 20 min break and then played for another 30 mins. Although I'm not a huge classical music fan I enjoyed it and the music wasn't too "heavy".

The meal, which was average, started at 6pm, as per the booking information, to allow 2 hours to eat before the concert started at 8pm, but large groups arrived after 6.30pm.

By 8.15 when the concert began, the concert hall, a 2 minute walk from the restaurant, was only half full. Throughout the first half of the concert the music was continually interrupted, as groups of people entered the relatively small hall, and were shown to their seats.

The one good aspect was the quality of the musicians who were exceptional - when they could be listened to without interruption!

This experience was awesome, would definitely do it again! The VIP dinner package was well worth it for our group of 6, and the concert was excellent.

We attedned the Best of Mozart Concert at Fortress Hohensalzburg on the evening Monday, August 5. The program did not list the song that was performed during the 'Encore' and I am hoping someone can share what the song title / composer was for this song?

    This was fine.

The funicular ride is really neat, the fortress is lovely, the restaurant is lovely, the concert was very well performed. It was a really nice experience.

But the food was only fine. We didn’t upgrade to the VIP dinner, but I don’t think that would have made a difference in the quality of the food, just in the menu. We got beef broth, chicken, and Mozart cake. I have zero complaints, but I think I could have gotten better food for cheaper elsewhere. (You can’t beat the view, though!)

The concert was very, very good. I am someone who appreciates but doesn’t always enjoy classical music, and it was very enjoyable. They played two pieces, then a break, then a few more pieces. They were excellent musicians.

But the whole thing felt very “set up for tourists”, if that makes sense. I know different people travel differently, and some people really like that kind of thing, but I don’t particularly. I’d rather go to a restaurant that doesn’t cater to tourists and get better food, and then see Mozart performed at the local symphony or at a church or something. If we go back to Salzburg, we will probably just do that.

A lovely way to round out our time in Salzburg! Go a bit earlier to have time to tour the Fortress before dinner starts. We had beautiful weather that evening so enjoyed eating outside on the terrace among the beautiful mountain and city views. Dinner and service were very nice, the concert was lovely too. Glad we did this!

This was the perfect way to end our time in Salzburg. The food was good, but you’re obviously paying for the view, which is unrivaled. The Salzburger dessert was a perfect finale. The servers at the restaurant were clearly experiencing understaffing (this is common for restaurants everywhere nowadays), but they were hustling and gracious. The musicians were top quality. We did the VIP experience. I highly recommend it.

I purchased the basic meal and concert package. The meal was average - chicken breast and rice, with a nice soup and a good dessert. Only two waitstaff for around 100 guests. This was not a problem with serving the meals but paying for extras like a beverage was very slow and delayed the start of the concert. The concert was quite good, although the last section of traditional Austrian Advent folk tunes was less impressive for non- Austrians. Funicular capacity was overwhelmed after the concert. There may be better options held in churches or other venues.
