Half Day Eagle's Nest

I did the half day "Eagles Nest" tour in the middle of June. I had an amazing experience with Panorama Tours. I booked the day before, and my tour was on a Sunday. The bus was full (about 50 ppl) but we did not have any issues (about 40 mins drive). This tour was around 75 euros, which I felt was fair because it included the bus ride up to the nest itself (maybe like 25 euros?) and an uber would have cost 75 euros one way from Salzburg. The tour also included "skip the line" tickets which I think are key because even in the early morning, there were a lot of people waiting in line, and we were able to bypass it.
They told us to bring our passports (in case you get stopped at the German border) but we did not need them.
However, you do need a mask while riding the bus up the mountain and inside the elevator. Once you're up in the nest you have around 1:15 hours of free time to walk around and explore, which I thought was plenty. The views are ridiculously awesome.
After the nest you stop at a small town below the nest for lunch for an hour, and then head back to Salzburg.
Our tour guide (Ankla?) had some interesting information about the area that I was not aware of and she did a really good job of keeping a large group on track.
I do recommend you watch some YouTube documentaries about how the nest came to be prior to coming to have a better idea of all the amazing engineering that went into the building.
Overall great experience and was it was so worth it.

Great tour with great views

The trip was very well-organized. Walter did a great job of keeping the tour(s) on track. We did not know that masks would be required in Germany - but you could buy one for a euro when we got to the base of mountain where Eagle's Nest is located. The guide gave us information in German and English. He was also very good about answering questions as they came up from the group.

Informative but not a lot to see!,

Although not a huge amount to see at The Eagle’s Nest… and completely understand why the surrounding area was mostly destroyed, I still felt it is a ‘must see’ tour.
Micky drove our coach expertly through the Bavarian Alps and Walter was an informative guide. Sharing relative knowledge and even a few jokes.. (although one joke about 9/11 I felt inappropriate for our fellow Americans)
Unfortunately the weather was against us on out trip, very heavy rain and low cloud which prevented us taking full advantage of the breathtaking views up there.
Our tour included a 1 hour stop at a small beautiful Bavarian town.., we managed to luncheon on typical Bavarian Fayre… there are plenty of eateries to choose from.. do not just opt for the two Walter recommends.
All in all a memorable trip…. Thank you Panorama

Amazing Trip
Booked this whilst here for a few days in Salzburg. Originally booked the Thursday but after checking the weather changed it to Wednesday with no issues. I'm not a bus trip fan too independent however worth paying for the informative guide, tickets all sorted for you and generally a hassle free trip. They even sorted a trip to nearby Berchtesgaden which was a beautiful place and we got lunch at a lovely little bakery.
Eagles nest what can I say, amazing engineering and the views are unreal. Can't recommend it enough.

The tour guide worked hard to be a comedian rather than an informer of information relative to the place we were touring. He did provide some factual, historical information but it was not developed in a context of a tour program so it lost it’s informative value. Just facts interjected here and there. Overall people did laugh at his jokes, so perhaps I was the only person wanting more information.

Well organized and informative tour. Ivo, the driver, was terrific and Walter, the guide, was very informative and entertaining. They do have to keep a tight schedule; however, they do not make ti seem hurried or rushed in any way. The lunch recommendations in Berchtesgaden were terrific. Panorama tours themselves were terrific to work with. We had scheduled the trip through a third party who were very difficult to deal with as we had to change the date of our tour. We waited until we got to Salzberg, went to the Panorama kiosk at the Mirabelleplatz and they were incredibly accommodating.

Eagles Nest closed - would still recommend!
Unfortunately the Eagles Nest was closed due to weather. Panorama tours were excellent in both arranging alternate tours and providing a refund promptly. We ended up doing both the Sound of Music Tour and the Bavarian Mountains tour with this company so were still able to visit Berchtesgaden. Highly professional, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Would recommend any and all tours with this company.

Great experience - we loved Walter!
This was a large tour bus - larger than I expected. However, our tour guide Walter was very informative & entertaining. The ride to the Eagles Nest was probably 35-40 minutes long, and Walter shared stories about Salzburg and the surrounding area along the way.

We arrived at a second bus terminal, where we boarded specially-geared buses designed to go up & down the mountain. These buses and the elevator ride up to the Eagles Nest required face masks, which we didn’t know we needed to bring. Fortunately, Walter had some on hand for 1E each.

Once we arrived at the Eagles Nest, there was a short orientation, then we were free to explore for 45 minutes or so (which was plenty).

On the way back to Salzburg we stopped at a smaller village for lunch, which was great. I wish we’d had more time there!

Overall, great experience.

Set in a beautiful location with stunning views at the top. Leopard was at the top of his game with many interesting anecdotes, bringing the tour to vivid life.

This tour was overall good. The host was awesome, He was knowledgeable and engaging. He made the trip. The downsides- the bus was full/at max capacity so it made it less fun with such a large group. Their mask rules were so weird- you didn't need them on the bus there but on the elevator you did. It should be all or nothing IMO. The actual building is underwhelming but the views are amazing!

Salzburg is one of the most beloved cities to visit among entire European countries. Now that the regulation on Covid 19 is being eased, more and more tourists are visiting Salzburg. Hence the bus was full. The rule for wearing masks is not decided by us. Eagle’s Nest is located in Germany and their rule is slightly different than ours and we are obliged to follow their rules.
