- J3860GTwendyc00You won’t be sorry!!We sang, we laughed, we cried. A fantastic tour and worth every euro. April, you are AWESOME. Your passion for sharing this with us is evident. If I didn’t have to go home I think you’d be my new best friend. Ferdinand, you got us there and back and you’re the best most fun bartender.
- Inspiration55830900Must do!THE BEST TOUR GUIDE! he was incredible and made it such a fun experience! He was hilarious and informative, our tour guide “papa”!
- 918cathyp00HallstattGreat trip! Knowledgable guide and good driver. The views are amazing - just like I expected Austria to be. Hallstatt is a beautiful, if rather busy, village on the shores of the lake. The funicular railway trip is good for the breathtaking views at the top.
- sarahjo202300Great Review.Had a great tour guide for both; Zoe was excellent and a lot of fun. Walter was also great. Loved the Salt Mine.
- Joseph G00Outstanding. Make sure you check the weather in advance.Great bus. Very good and informative guide. Bus driver was very competent. The skip the line was a must. Others we’re waiting for hours, we got right through
- chrisbX4367VL00If you love the film - you'll love the tourHad a fantastic morning doing this tour - didn't realise how popular it would be - but great organisation and our guide - Antonio - was really entertaining and got a chance to see more of Sazburg and local area - highly recommend
- kherxinl00Bad experienceActivity provider is not friendly not helpful Very unsatisfied Poor experience Not recommend if you planned to make this tour taking train
- Adventure4186768896600Challenging walk to the topVery well organized! Only problem is the lift was broken. We had to walk to the top. It wasn’t the tour operators fault and they offered to refund the money. The walk was challenging but worth it
- Wenjomit00Zoe and Fernando’s Sound of Music Tour with Panorama ToursJust finished the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg and had a great experience. Zoe was the best tour guide I have ever had . She was very informative, knowledgeable and made the tour extremely fun. Hope to do it again someday and I would love to be on the bus with Zoe and Fernando again.
- Mcabral5400Great experienceBrigit and Ferdinand (or Fredrick?) were amazing! Very funny and very friendly. Highly recommend this tour
- Skidamerink00Don't botherThe tour guide and driver were very nice and did a fine job. That's where the accolades stop. There is truly nothing special about this tour. Basically, you are paying for a ride and someone who knows where the movie landmarks are. Other than that, most of it is a drive by. You don't get any special access to any of the places where the movie was shot. The places are either totally off limits to the public or totally free to the public. Note: the opening scene of the movie was shot in Germany, not in Austria..... Again, guide and driver fantastic. Tour itself - skip.
- yeisidg00Lovely morning in HallstattWe had a wonderful half day trip from Salzburg to Hallstatt. A lovely ride to and from the town. Our tour guide, Barbara, was engaging and entertaining with lively stories and history along the way. She made the ride very enjoyable. The landscape is stunning and worth the trip. The town, charming. A wonderful place to spend time.
- Daydream29746700Don’t waste time and money on this tour. The only thing this tour gets you is a trip up the mountain in a bus with 60 other people and entrance into The Eagles Nest. There was not much information given at all, and I will never book a tour with this company again. Avoid the tour bus crowds!! SPEND the extra money and take a PRIVATE TOUR of the Eagles Nest (there will be other big tours there at the same time, but you will get much more history with a private tour). DEFINITELY book through salzburgprivatetours.com. We did another tour with these guys the day before, and it was the highlight of our time in Salzburg.
- Sunshine1645911636100READ, IMPORTANT, RIPOFF!DO NOT DO THIS TOUR IF YOU LIKE THE SOUND OF MUSIC, THIS IS A TOUR 1 HOUR SOUND OF MUSIC AND 3 HOURS OUTSIDE SALZBURG. DO NOT DO THIS TOUR IF YOU TRAVEL WITH ELDER PEOPLE. My mother has movability issues. They LEFT US after the first stop. We had to fight to get a car from then to pick us up because they expected us to take a taxi to the second stop and HOPEFULLY arrive in time to take the bus again IN WHERE WE HAD OUR BELONGINGS, INCLUDING OUR DOCUMENTS. HALF OF THE SPOTS FROM THE MOVIE YOU WILL NOT SEE THEM IN THIS TOUR. Things like the abbey, you see them from far (with the bicycle tour you can go there and enter the church). They don't go to the Rocking school which is the front of the Von Trapp Family. They don't go to the horse pond, neither the horse statues. They dont go to the Do Re Mi bridge. The last stop In where you are taken to a place to eat strudel; the place is crowed, only two people serving, and they only give you 40 minutes (minus 20 minutes walk to the bus go and back) to eat but they never serve you so its a waste on time to go there. This was my first and LAST time with them. They have millions of people on each tour so expect to be just a number from them. NEVER AGAIN.
- Companion77095900Worth doing!Well worth the time. A lot of history regarding production of movie vs history about the Trapp family.

Would NOT recommend. Not worth the time. For a 4 hour tour, we were allowed only 40 minutes at King’s Lake. After a recommended 15 minute hike to a beautiful viewing spot, we only had 5 minutes to admire the lake — this was the only reason we did this tour!! Then we had an hour and a half to “kill time” in Berchtesgaden (tour description said only 50 minutes here, so I would have REALLY have loved to spend that extra 40 minutes at the lake!). We also came to this same town for Eagle’s Nest tour, so didn’t really want to waste time seeing it again.

Dear Kelly
Thank you for taking your time writing us feedback.
We are sorry the tour did not meet your expectations.
As described on our website the tour offers two main attractions in the Bavarian Mountains: the Kings Lake and the picturesque town of Berchtesgaden. We usually spend 50 minutes at each place, which most of our guests enjoy as a nice variation & change of scenery.
At the Kings Lake our guests have two options either doing the 15-minute stroll to the view point or just remain at the lake shore enjoying coffee etc...
We are happy to hear you did the recommended walk along the lake side to the Mahler’s breathtaking view point during your stay at the Kings Lake and understand that you may have wanted to stay longer.
In this case we would recommend doing a private tour, being much more flexible to the personal interests as with shared tours we need to keep our program having other guests on board.
Once again thank you for your review which we really appreciate and take seriously as we constantly try to improve our services.
We do hope to get another chance welcoming you to one of our other tours (without Berchtesgaden 😉 )
All the best
Your Panorama Salzburg Team

This was a great little trip and a good way to get a taste of the truly beautiful Austrian and Bavarian countryside.
My boyfriend (German speaking) and I (English speaking) attended the tour with a small group of mixed English and German speakers, and our guide Leo was an absolute champ! He switched effortlessly between English and German so that all the guests could appreciate the history and culture of the beautiful areas we were exploring. Leo was super friendly and entertaining and full of useful trivia and information (I even learned some unexpected facts about the English monarchy!) He really showed us some true Austrian hospitality! :D
The tour has a stop for pictures and then two longer stops in the gorgeous park by Konigssee (Kings Lake) and in the charming little town of Berchtesgaden (just enough time to sample the local beer!)
My only suggestion for improvement would be that it would be great to have more time to explore the Konigssee (we only had about an hour), but otherwise this is a fabulous and interesting tour with a great host, and really useful if you want to get an overview of all the stunningly beautiful amenities and the area has to offer.
Thank you very much Leo for such a lovely experience!!!

The way TUI billed this trip it sounded fantastic, however TUI tours are really unreliable subject to cancellations and changes. On the back of two cancellations and a Salzburg tour missing the advertised sound of music diversion, this was the last hope. One of the main reasons for people to come here is the Eagles Nest. This was closed due to a storm the previous night or so we were told. This left the choice of spending hours in the tiny village of Berchtesgaden or visiting the salt mine.
Berchtesgaden is ok, there is nothing wrong with it, a handful of shops and some good cafes and restaurants run by really nice people. The trouble is, you have seen it all in 15 minutes and despite its unsavoury past as Adolph Hitlers favourite spot, there is no real historical context. The salt mine is busy and chaotic, but is worth the money. Be warned though it is just an average tourist attraction. Yes there is a train ride into the mountain, yes there is the thrill of the wooden slides and the underwhelming light show on the raft across a tepid salt pond. Would I take a day out of my holiday to do this - no. I'm sure this region with the national park, natural beauty and all that historical interest could be wonderful. In TUIs hands its not. The guide tried his best but was always fighting an uphill battle with no Eagles Nest. I will call out the TUI country manager, oh how he tried to make things better, really good guy, but a lot of it is out of his hands.

Dear Raynes
Thank you for taking your time writing a review.
We really regret, but due to force major we were not able to operate the Eagle Nest tour;
…. an information which we also received on very short-term notice being beyond our control.
However, we offered our guests full refund on spot, giving them also the opportunity doing a different tour instead.
Yet, we fully understand you disappoint.
At least you enjoyed our guide trying his best to entertain despite facing some frustration.
However, we are sorry to hear about your TUI experience and may recommend addressing this issue at the TUI platform, as we are Salzburg Panorama Tours – the tour provider
Once again, we regret that the Eagle’s Nest was closed on this very day due to a lightning stroke
And do hope to welcome you back soon on board

We had a wonderful journey with Leo😃 who is an artist, that i never met bevore. He turns a rainy day into a wonderfull experience. My mother and my sister organized this trip and we had so much fun, because we did hear so many historical facts about the region and interesting details...as one can tell. Have to commend Wolfgang for being such a knowledgeable guide, this was by far the most interesting tour for me.
The scenery encountered was unbelievable. Unfortunately it gets dark very early.

Terrible waste of time and quite a lot of money for what was just a heavily curtailed visit to Konigsee lake ( just the 20-25 minutes to go around the lake).
We booked via the viator website and the photos of the places provided were a bit misleading and upon pointing out the discrepancy between the photos and the itinerary we were told a bit rudely by the tour guide that it wasn’t their website and instead we were handed another brochure.
Most of the time was spent in dropping and picking up people from the salt mines. A lot of time allocated to getting coffee from what was a small shopping district without much character.
I understand that these tours make their money from deals with the shops and restaurants along the way, but this was ridiculous with us feeling that we were taken for a ride with the main focus of the tour being shuttling us to to the local cafe.
For the most part of tour our guide was polite and friendly, but the experience as a whole disappointing and we will be asking for a refund!!

Dear Ishan,
First of all thank you very much for your feedback regarding our tour to the Lake District here on TripAdvisor. We are really sorry we were not able to meet your expectations and that you left our bus disappointed. Please note that we operate our tour as described on our website and brochure. Viator gets also the same information from us.
Unfortunately the boat trip is not offered during winter season, so we provide the alternative with the coffee break in a traditional Austrian coffee house. According to our long-term experience most of our guests enjoy their free time in Berchtesgaden exploring the town on their own. We are sorry, that we couldn´t convince you on this point. Guests have time to stroll in the village or have a coffee and our guides give some suggestions. There are no extra souvenir stops on the tour, but of course there are several souvenir shops in a place like Königsee – it´s the same in every touristy place in the world. For the time at the lake we calculate with around 45 to 60 minutes.
As we provide this tour as described and that it was booked over a third party we can give no refund. Thank you for your understanding. Thank you again for your time you have spent sharing your experience with us. We would be happy to get another chance to welcome you on any of our tours we offer and convince you with our service and knowledge concerning Salzburg and its surrounding.
Best regards, Salzburg Panorama Tours, Customer care

Bavarian Mountains , I been in Eagle Nest in this summer. What I can say, first of all you are feeling like you fly. Beautiful views, fresh air, but reach this place is not so easy. I love mountains so much as well as lakes between mountains with very cold water. Water is so clean and have blue-green color Of course you have to rent car. With car you can see much more, even train or bus working very well in Austria and Germany too. This summer most time I was in Austria (Vienna , Salzburg, St. Giglen, St. Wolfgang and Hallstatt), but one day I was in Berchtesgaden and Eagle nest in Germany.

The Bavarian Mountain Tour was very disappointing. Nothing like the tour description noted above. Our expectation was to see more of the mountain regions surrounding Salzburg. The tour included two different tour groups on the same bus. From Salzburg we drove to the salt mine. We dropped off 10 people and waited on the bus to pick up 17 people who just finished the salt mine tour. From there we traveled to King's Lake. We had 50 minutes to explore the area. This area is a high tourist area and we didn't have enough time to explore the lake area. We boarded the bus and drove to the center of Berchtesgaden and had 60 minutes. I would have preferred a free day to explore Salzburg on our own.
On the other hand, I would highly recommend the Hallstatt tour. The scenery was amazing. In this tour, people see far more of the countryside than they would ever see taking the Bavarian Mountain Tour. The guide provided information driving to, and while returning to Salzburg. This tour was well worth the money.

As many other reviewers have pointed out, you can easily take the same tour by bus. The guide didn't add anything, and it only became a scramble to get back to the bus on time.
Do yourself a favour, and just take the bus.
Anything you would discover is a lot better explained in the other tour to Hallstaat.

Hello,
thank you for your feedback regarding our tour to the Bavarian Mountains, which we have read with great interest. Unfortunately it seems that we did not meet your expectations and we are very sorry about this since our main aim is the satisfaction of our guests!
Usually our tour takes the guests over the Obersalzberg to the Lake Königssee where we stop for about 45-60 minutes and afterwards we drive to Berchtesgaden for one more 45-60 minutes stop. We do regret that you felt not receiving enough information and will address this topic in our next team meeting.
Again, thank you for the review and time bringing your experience to our attention. We would be happy if we could get another chance to welcome you on board of any of our tours someday.
With best regards,
your Salzburg Panorama Tours team
