As many other reviewers have pointed out, you can easily take the same tour by bus. The guide didn't add anything, and it only became a scramble to get back to the bus on time.

Do yourself a favour, and just take the bus.

Anything you would discover is a lot better explained in the other tour to Hallstaat.

Hello, thank you for your feedback regarding our tour to the Bavarian Mountains, which we have read with great interest. Unfortunately it seems that we did not meet your expectations and we are very sorry about this since our main aim is the satisfaction of our guests! Usually our tour takes the guests over the Obersalzberg to the Lake Königssee where we stop for about 45-60 minutes and afterwards we drive to Berchtesgaden for one more 45-60 minutes stop. We do regret that you felt not receiving enough information and will address this topic in our next team meeting. Again, thank you for the review and time bringing your experience to our attention. We would be happy if we could get another chance to welcome you on board of any of our tours someday. With best regards, your Salzburg Panorama Tours team

The Bavarian Mountain Tour was very disappointing. Nothing like the tour description noted above. Our expectation was to see more of the mountain regions surrounding Salzburg. The tour included two different tour groups on the same bus. From Salzburg we drove to the salt mine. We dropped off 10 people and waited on the bus to pick up 17 people who just finished the salt mine tour. From there we traveled to King's Lake. We had 50 minutes to explore the area. This area is a high tourist area and we didn't have enough time to explore the lake area. We boarded the bus and drove to the center of Berchtesgaden and had 60 minutes. I would have preferred a free day to explore Salzburg on our own.

On the other hand, I would highly recommend the Hallstatt tour. The scenery was amazing. In this tour, people see far more of the countryside than they would ever see taking the Bavarian Mountain Tour. The guide provided information driving to, and while returning to Salzburg. This tour was well worth the money.

Bavarian Mountains , I been in Eagle Nest in this summer. What I can say, first of all you are feeling like you fly. Beautiful views, fresh air, but reach this place is not so easy. I love mountains so much as well as lakes between mountains with very cold water. Water is so clean and have blue-green color Of course you have to rent car. With car you can see much more, even train or bus working very well in Austria and Germany too. This summer most time I was in Austria (Vienna , Salzburg, St. Giglen, St. Wolfgang and Hallstatt), but one day I was in Berchtesgaden and Eagle nest in Germany.

We went for the 2.00 pm tour which was Overbooked but a second bus was operated as they had to pick up
20 more passengers from the salt mines . Although our driver Evo was nice and the tour guide Walter knowledgeable , I feel this tour was a ripoff at €45 pp as the only thing we did see was Koniigsee , we had 2 hrs to spend there . We weren’t allowed to take the boat ride due to time constraint . It’s a very beautiful place but touristy and quite crowded . They should have called it the Koniigsee tour as we never saw any other part of Berchtesgaden . The scenery on the way is stunning but this same trip could have been done in a much cheaper way by taking bus 840 from Salzburg and connecting with 841 to Koniigsee from Berchtesgaden station . We also have the train option while returning as the trains I believe run until 10pm.
So overall a bit disappointed .

We were disappointed that our original tour of Eagles Nest was cancelled because it was closed until June because of snow. Our hotel clerk knew how badly we wanted to see Eagles Nest so he suggested this tour to us....it was last minute. You are on a huge bus (nice and clean) and you are driven through the mountains to Berchtesgaden. You let-off anyone taking the salt mine tour......from there they rest of you travel to a lake that is beautiful and you see Eagles Nest sitting up on the mountain ridge.......that is it. I realize it was the best we could do under the conditions.....then you are driven to Berchtesgaden where you have 30 minutes to get a snack and then back on the bus. We did get to see Eagles Nest....so I am happy.....even if it was from a distance!

A older man, that was our guide, saved this trip.he had lots off humour and was very friendly(be sure to have alitle money to give as tips).we booked online, for the trip to the mountains.we didnt know that there were also people visiting, saltmines,on this bus.if we have known this,i think we would have bought this also.this meant that we were 6 people on the bus when the others went off to go for the saltmines(for 1 hour).it was okay because they drove us further up the valley to see something else.if it hasnt been for the snow and fog,we would have been able to see The Eagles nest, from this site.btw if you are going to Salzburg,in may-april,be sure to bring warm and water proof clothes, because it was cold and wet nearly every day.all in all a nice experience

The tour has two destinations - the king's lake and the village (town?) of Berchtesgaden. The reference to Eagle's nest is a glimpse of what you will see on the way to the first destination, not a visit. During the off-season, this tour may be combined with those folks wanting to go see the Salt mines that is close to the King's hill. As long as your expectations are clear, the tour itself is pretty fun - the lake is amazing and if you happen to visit it during a serene moment, that feeling stays with you. The village, on the other hand, is merely meh. I mean, it is pretty, but the timing of the tour I was on meant that we were basically strolling through a closed marketplace and having a meal at one of the restaurants in the area. Not a bad way to spend time, but also not exactly what a "tour" is supposed to be.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the tour to Berchtesgaden. We are glad you had fun and enjoyed especially the lake area. Unfortunately, some shops in the village are closed during the off-season. Nevertheless, our guides will gladly give you recommendations for cafes, restaurants, etc and are there for any questions about the area. We very much appreciate your comments, as we constantly working on a high quality of customer service. It would be our pleasure if we can welcome you again someday - maybe next time during the summer season. Best regards, Salzburg Panorama Tours, Customer are

Have to commend Wolfgang for being such a knowledgeable guide, this was by far the most interesting tour for me.
The scenery encountered was unbelievable. Unfortunately it gets dark very early.

Terrible waste of time and quite a lot of money for what was just a heavily curtailed visit to Konigsee lake ( just the 20-25 minutes to go around the lake).

We booked via the viator website and the photos of the places provided were a bit misleading and upon pointing out the discrepancy between the photos and the itinerary we were told a bit rudely by the tour guide that it wasn’t their website and instead we were handed another brochure.

Most of the time was spent in dropping and picking up people from the salt mines. A lot of time allocated to getting coffee from what was a small shopping district without much character.

I understand that these tours make their money from deals with the shops and restaurants along the way, but this was ridiculous with us feeling that we were taken for a ride with the main focus of the tour being shuttling us to to the local cafe.

For the most part of tour our guide was polite and friendly, but the experience as a whole disappointing and we will be asking for a refund!!

Dear Ishan, First of all thank you very much for your feedback regarding our tour to the Lake District here on TripAdvisor. We are really sorry we were not able to meet your expectations and that you left our bus disappointed. Please note that we operate our tour as described on our website and brochure. Viator gets also the same information from us. Unfortunately the boat trip is not offered during winter season, so we provide the alternative with the coffee break in a traditional Austrian coffee house. According to our long-term experience most of our guests enjoy their free time in Berchtesgaden exploring the town on their own. We are sorry, that we couldn´t convince you on this point. Guests have time to stroll in the village or have a coffee and our guides give some suggestions. There are no extra souvenir stops on the tour, but of course there are several souvenir shops in a place like Königsee – it´s the same in every touristy place in the world. For the time at the lake we calculate with around 45 to 60 minutes. As we provide this tour as described and that it was booked over a third party we can give no refund. Thank you for your understanding. Thank you again for your time you have spent sharing your experience with us. We would be happy to get another chance to welcome you on any of our tours we offer and convince you with our service and knowledge concerning Salzburg and its surrounding. Best regards, Salzburg Panorama Tours, Customer care
