- O2767HGdavidh0 contributionsAll day winery tour.A lovely all day excursion with 3 wineries visited. Our Guide Christina gave our party of 6 (3 separate couples) a short outline of the recent history of Cyprus on route to our first winery (about an hour from the last hotel pick up) and pointed out some of the different plants relevant to the day. there is some common points in the winemaking process but was interesting to see the different ways the winerys sourced & processed the grapes. Our fist stop was the Papaioannou Winery. we had a tour of the winery & given an explanation of how they process the wines & sampled several different wines produced. the arched ceiling in the storage area was very impressive. Our second winery was Antoniades Winery. The owner led the tour & his passion for wine was plain. they have enjoyed success in international competition with their award winning wines. more sampling & opportunities to purchase products that are not readily available outside Cyprus. With 2 visits made it was time for lunch. A lovely taverna with a seemingly never ending range of mezze dishes brought to our table. A word to the wise, Cypriots are very generous hosts & the portion sizes reflect this. Our final Winery was the Monolithos Winery. Another impressive facility and, as with the earlier locations, an opportunity to sample & purchase any wine that agrees with your palate. The trip back to our hotels was a little quieter I suspect I was not the only guest to doze after several saamles, lots of lovely food & great company,Written November 24, 2024

- Noel L0 contributionsGreat Day TourA really enjoyable day. Picked up promptly by our guide Dimitri. We travelled to visit a local Cypriot house where they make Halloumi. We tasted some with Cypriot coffee and home made bread. It was then onto an Olive Oil producing local business. This was interesting as we got to sample varieties of olive oil ham, all very tasty. Next stop was an old monastery followed by lunch in a local taverna. We finished off the afternoon by a visit to a winery where we sampled various varieties after been given a quick tour. Needless to say with the glorious sunshine and the incredible view we just had to have another bottle it two ( well we had a driver ! ) Our guide Dimitri filled us in on local history and custom all along the way. In addition he loves to take a picture so you will have many happy memories. A great day out and thanks to Veronica, Gavin, Melissa and JT who were great companyWritten November 19, 2024

This was a great experience, the guide Myra was lovely and so knowledgeable. The trip had lots of stops and lots of wine to taste. The halloumi making was fantastic including the lunch, so much food we couldn’t finish it. Small group with four other people who were lovely, would highly recommend it. Thx Myra for a great day.

We booked the Halloumi Heaven & Commandaria Crusade tours and both far exceeded expectations. Christina, our guide, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and had such an obvious passion for her work, making us relax instantly on our first tour and eager for the second to come around. The places we visited were truly authentic; being small places we would barely notice on our own, let alone think to walk in. Tastings were generous and all the Cypriot proprietors had real passion and pride in their produce. The extras like village tours, monasteries and stops at selected shops just added to the experience. We had a brunch and a mezze lunch and both were easily among the best and most authentic meals we had during our time on the island. We can’t recommend Cyprus Taste Tours enough. Our short holiday became a treasured experience. We are, however, heading home with 31kg of extra baggage - so plan ahead because you will want to buy the incredible wines you try!

We were warmly welcomed by our guide Christina. A small group of four and we were soon chatting with ease. The tour began at a Halloumi Cheese family farm. We learned first hand how they make the delicious halloumi cheese and participated in that day's production. It ended with a sampling of fresh halloumi cheese, bread and Cypriot coffee. After a scenic drive, we were treated to a tasty local brunch meze. We continued to a winery where we sampled several of their wines as we enjoyed the amazing view. We then toured a monastery and ended with a visit to a local Cypriot delight store. We highly recommend this tour! Thank you Christina for a wonderful day!

First an foremost be prepared to get stuck in to an hour or so of squeezing the whey out of fresh halloumi, take some care with this as you will be sampling it later.
The tour is expertly run, our guide Maya was informative, knowledgeable and friendly. Certainly knew her way around the island.
The mid-afternoon brunch is a substantial meal, well served. The vineyard we visited offers stunning views from the veranda and outstanding organic wines. t prices of Euro 5-10 it would be wrong not to take a bottle or 3 away with you.
Good day all round, highly recommended

What an amazing experience, and an absolutely lovely guide called Sally-Ann. We felt like friends on a road trip rather than clients and a company rep. Monastery was absolutely stunning, and the frescoes still intact after hh dress of years. Once you taste Halloumi made traditionally (and partly by your own hand) you'll never go back to supermarket Halloumi without a sigh. The Troodos Mountain villages are beautiful, the whole trip was full of stunning views, friendly people and laughter. I'm not a big wine fan, but the Winery visit was amazing and the wines were top-notch according to the wife and rest of the small group. Having only 7 in the group meant nothing was rushed and we all got to actually talk to each other. 100% recommend taking this trip to everyone.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our day out with Myra, who was a very friendly and knowledgeable host. The halloumi making in an artisan kitchen was very interesting and followed by a delicious brunch, which included the cheese we had literally just helped make. Following on we visited a winery for some wine tasting then on to an olive oil producer where we tried a multitude of olive oil products (Olive oil liqueur anyone?). The monastery was next, which had amazing views across the valley to the coast and finished up at a 4th generation owned shop selling their loukoumi, which was also excellent. We would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone. Again, thank you Myra for a very enjoyable day out.

Hands down the best day of our trip to Cyprus was this tour. We did a private tour since we were a group of six. Our guide, Myra, was so lovely and knowledgeable. She got to know us all and made us feel comfortable throughout the day. We learned so much about all the places we visited and felt so fortunate to get to spend the day with locals who welcomed us into their homes and businesses. The lunch we had was delicious. There was so much food, I highly recommend going hungry. Making the halloumi was very special, and we also got to do so much more... wine tasting, olive oil tasting, visiting a monastery, an old village, and a Cyprus delight shop. Even though I have motion sickness, the driving wasn't too bad since we made a lot of stops and Myra was an excellent driver. I can't recommend this tour enough, it really gave us a local experience and one we won't forget.

We booked this trip a few months in advance as it seemed very popular, and the reviews were impressive. We were not let down at all!
We had the brilliant guide in Christina, who's knowledge and enthusiasm for the country and it's culture was infectious. She was happy to answer any questions and gave great insight into life in Cyprus. She also provided us with plenty of chilled water which was gratefully received considering it was 36 degrees, and about an eight our tour!
First stop was the family run halloumi kitchen in a small village, where we were shown how authentic halloumi was made, and then given the opportunity to make our own. Following this we were treated to a spread of beautiful fresh salad and a variety of cheeses to try. Delicious! A truly lovely family!
Next a stop at a monestary found at the highest peak in Cypus. Home to six monks who produce their own wine. A great place to get a bit of shade, wander the vines and reflect on the history of the island, combined with outstanding panoramic views.
On the way to the final stop of a local Cypriot winery, Christina treated us to a bonus stop where we dropped in to a lovely ladies home (who's name I forget). She treated us to home made jam, biscuits and iced tea. We were lucky enough to peruse her collection of glorious hand painted icons too.
The winery was a great way to end the tour. A quick tour of the vineyard and onto the tasting. Six wines altogether, all fresh and unique, which convinced us to buy a bottle or two to take home.
All in all, the highlight of the holiday in Cyprus. If you want to immerse yourself in the traditions of the island, learn plenty while enjoying delicious food and drink while doing so, all away from the tourist traps... this is the trip for you! Thanks Christina!

The whole day was very enjoyable and was definitely worth what we paid. Going through the journey with four other lovely people whom we had not before helped make the day more fun. We covered quite a few miles during the day, going through remote villages and up into the mountains where we experienced beautiful vistas of Cyprus. Each stop off provided us with new knowledge and appreciation of local, traditional Cypriot life too. Each stop off - the monastery, the winery, the 'delight' shop and eateries for the wine tasting provided their own insight with the residents/owners sharing a bit of history and what makes them special. Of course, the highlight was the making and eating of Halloumi especially for my daughter who loves Halloumi with a passion. I do too now, knowing what real Halloumi should taste like and how it should be made. I won't tell you here though (!), you'll have to find out for yourself. Elena our guide added so much extra value to the trip we did not expect by sharing her very personal Cypriot story and inside knowledge of the area, people and history. Thank you, Elena. We still talk about it now. I highly recommend this tour.

We found this to be our highlight of our week in Cyprus. Sally-ann was a thoroughly friendly and enthusiastic guide who took us up to the mountains, then we started on our journey of learning about how to make halloumi cheese, from the milking of the goats all the way to making and then getting to eat our work! The lunch was so delicious and it was great to be in a small group, especially as it meant more time in the beautiful winery with a stunning view. Really recommend!

Hello! We are coming in 12 days, and would love to do this experience! Will it be suitable for our 7yr old too? He also loves Halloumi!
Written July 31, 2024
I think so but it depends on if your 7yr old is ok with a long day! Also some things might be boring for them, like wine tasting. This is what the company says on their FAQ as well, they don't generally recommend this for kids :( I would suggest reaching out to the company and letting them know you have a kid so maybe they can tailor the experience. They say "Many of our participants don’t drink alcohol or just prefer a non-alcoholic option. Just specify this on your registration form and we’ll arrange non-alcoholic traditional Cypriot drinks for you to try!"
