About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- SarahKraus0 contributionsDriver was wonderful! Our driver was very nice. Spoke to all of our in our various languages at the red house stop. Most impressive. However the actual audio commentary was pretty bland.Written October 4, 2019
- rachaelw9540 contributionsFunFun to do with music and information in English on route but really needed more photo stops to make it worth the moneyWritten May 8, 2019
- GKChaitanya0 contributionsVaduz complete tripThis is the best option to explore the city of Vaduz. Once You embark the train, English Audio is played explaining about Vaduz and various monuments that are covered. - Moti B0 contributionsGreat staff and enjoyable rideA fun and relaxing ride through vaduz. Daniel at the ticket counter was very helpful. He went out of his way to help us and make sure we had a good experience in his country Liechtenstein.Written May 7, 2018
- EvaF2Eva0 contributionsIt's worth itAlthough there is not too much to see in Vaduz except its historical center I truly recommend the City Train tour. We learned a lot about Vaduz and Liechtenstein history, enjoyed talking to the friendly driver who was very well informed and was able to answer all our questions about life in the country. Additionally we could enjoy the most beautiful view to the castle from the road at the Red House, where the train stopped for a few minutes for taking pictures.Written September 26, 2017
- SkyFlight0 contributions35 minutes through the heart of the cityIts a small three bogies train, were visitors can enjoy the ride through the heart of vaduz. If you are holding Museum and adventure pass (1 day/ 2days) you can avail this free. Otherwise there is a small fee. When I visited two bogies are booked for tour groups.Written September 16, 2017

- Kevin F0 contributionsMissed A TrickWe really wanted to tour Valduz on this City Train having received excellent reports regarding its 35 minute tour. Unfortunately on the Tuesday we visited, there was a gap between tours of 2 1/2 hours. The company certainly missed a trick, as several coach parties arrived during this time, many contained disappointed tourists!Written August 31, 2017
- kpapai0 contributionsNice tourIt is the best way to see Vaduz. The staff is polite and helpful. The tour is in english and german. It is funny and you listen to local music. I definately suggest it.Written August 21, 2017
- MayaAngel130 contributionsFunny ride with local musicInstead of walk you could just sit in one place and go around the city and take a pictures in min time. You can hear a little bit of history and Royal family. One ride is free with Liechtenstein Pass. I recommend you to buy Liechtenstein Pass card in Liechtenstein Center. For 25€ you can visit all museums for free and other attractions with discount. Check it out before you visit any place, It's worth it.Written July 11, 2017
- The_Concierge_80 contributionsA private tour is definitely the way to go! An amazing, personalised experience we will never forget! We had limited time (3 hours) in Liechtenstein and so the scheduled tour times for the City Train was not ideal for us. Thus, when we found Realino Tours (also booked through City Train) on the Liechtenstein Tourismus website, we decided this was for us! And it was! We had total flexibility for arrangements to suit our time and boarded an adorable blue, 3-wheeler, vintage Piaggio at the City Train office at 9am, heading off into the morning sunshine with our wonderful guide and Vaduz ambassador, Daniel Real! It was glorious indeed! We had great weather for stops at the Red House, the lookout just below the Castle (which provided amazing views of the entire town and surrounding countryside) and Vaduz Castle itself. We then drove down around the residential streets and along the Rhine river. We got out and walked across the Alte Rheinbrücke (covered wooden bridge) where we had a memorable photo op at the border of Lichtenstein and Switzerland. My husband even got treated to a visit to the Rheinpark Stadion (home of FC Vaduz) and got to stand on the pitch and take photos! Daniel indulged my love of wildlife with various stops to see the donkeys and local cows (who came right up to the fence and we could practically reach out and touch them!). We drove around town and through the Main Square, past the government buildings and the City Hall, all the while he was giving us interesting facts about the city and country that we certainly would never have otherwise learned about. This was personalised service indeed! And of course, it is dearer than the standard City Train tour, but to us, it was absolutely worth every penny! We learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks to Daniel, we had the most amazing tour of Vaduz and wonderful memories to last a lifetime!Written June 20, 2017
- Nonny_Nontakyy0 contributionsGood for see the whole VaduzThe great way to see the whole vaduz It take time for abour 35-40 mins The prize is 10.5 € It will be good if they stop in some place for photo spotWritten April 15, 2017

- Stevee170 contributionsGreat if you have younger kidsNice way to see the town has dual language ( English & German )recorded narrative of main sites as you pass by was probably 25 minutes, ideal with younger kids or lazy teenagers. It didn't go up to castle which was a bit of a shame, but stopped for photo stop, small place can be walked easy enough. The tourist information office is worth a look full of freebies, maps and guides etc. Eateries quite expensive for families really be warned.Written September 16, 2016
- TjDzik0 contributionsQuick way to get a feel for VaduzThis little bustrain takes you to see most of the significant sites in Vaduz. The trip is about 30 or so minutes and is a great orientation to this little city. The price is reasonable. You can also get your passport stamped at their kiosk for about 3 dollars.Written August 12, 2016

We used our Bodensee card for this so I’ve no idea how much it actually costs. Whatever it is, it’s probably too much.
That said, it is an easy way to see what’s what in Vaduz. The commentary is pretty rubbish though. Really waffly and hard to follow.
On balance, I’d say it’s worth doing. Just don’t have high expectations.

I really have a difficult time leaving bad reviews for anything and usually just don’t leave a review but I really felt like I needed to leave a truthful and honest answer about this attraction. First of all, if you can walk, you should walk to the few things that this train takes you to. I thought it was extremely overpriced for what it was. (10 francs). It was supposed to be a 35 minute tour of the city but we were back and off the train in less than 23 minutes ( yes I was watching the time). I could barely understand what the driver was saying not that he said much at all. Most of the tour basically consisted of riding around on a train that was not very comfortable, crammed into small cars, with the driver saying the names of what we were passing by (in multiple languages). There was very little explanation of the history or importance of what we were seeing. It just seemed very rushed and no real “feeling or emotion”. Even if they factor in traffic time, if we were going to get back early the driver could have done something else to add to the tour. It just seemed like he was just doing it in a rush to get back. I thought each car of the train would be the tour, presented in a different language, as when we bought our tickets and the agent heard that we spoke English, she told us to go to a specific car. There were a bunch of Americans and Canadians in one car and the other cars also appeared to be broken down into ethnic groups. We still had to listen to each thing the driver said in multiple languages through a PA system that was very difficult to hear.
I am hoping that this tour is not privately owned and that the money we spent on it will benefit the town and the people.
Don’t bother with this attraction, it’s not worth it.
We loved every other aspect of Liechtenstein!! The people, the sites, the food etc..

Amazing views, toured the whole city, I think, great customer service! We went in the morning which is supposed to be 'groups' only, but the ticket guy added us in as the train wasn't full & gave us super headsets as the tour for the main group was in a different language and was given over the loudspeakers in the train. This system worked to perfection and we really enjoyed ourselves. We saw the vineyards, castle, city centre, outskirts, views of the mountains and so much more. I would highly recommend this tour as with such a small city you get to see so much and can then walk it with the knowledge you've just learnt.

It was….meh. It could have been more fun. The driver didn’t interact with anyone at all. We plugged in to the little headset and drove. I was glad we had only booked the 35 minute tour.
