    Art Will Eat It’s Self
Frustrating experience! The building itself (when we finally found it) is impressive, a really interesting, tactile piece of architecture. We went on the FREE tram which is a fantastic service. But at the stop there is a terrible lack of signage, really very bad… we wandered around the bleak, empty dystopian plazas before going into an office to get directions, it was very close but looked like a car park. But from a better view It’s a great looking building, surrounded by historic fortifications - which are very very poorly promoted - There was a craft/art market in the central atriam full of very nice bespoke pieces (expensive). Upstairs were art installations, there were no performances on a Saturday which could have provided some sort of context. It was a bit art-grad end if term show… In the basement were various artworks, poorly displayed and archived: One work per artist, arranged alphabetically with the remaining art supposedly placed ‘inside crates’ so they were ‘there on display’ but not there - I’m including the notice as proof that someone actually thought this was a good idea and put it in writing! There is an issue for people with limited mobility as the walk to the museum is up a lot of steps and then down a hill, our friend on crutches had a real problem… Inside I asked an attendant where the lift was so she could see the exhibitions and I was told there wasn’t one and she would have to use the stairs… Maybe they didn’t speak English - because there is a perfectly good lift which we found in a corner - but why didn’t they say they didn’t understand? Very disappointing. If you want to get in for free there are hundreds of tickets stuck on the sign outside. If you like art go to Villa Vauban.

    Appearance over substance ...
The building (by star architect IM Pei) is absolutley breathtaking! Great!!! BUT ... even being a modern art lover, the mudam is often disappointing concerning "art on display" 🙉🙊🙈 You might think : are these "things"/artefacts or did the cleaning lady forget to get rid of those 😱 Closeby is the traditional history museum "3 Eechelen"/part of the old fortress, which is more attracting (IMHO). In whole Luxembourg PT is free for everybody (courtesy of Lux.tax payers😉), so it's easy to take the tram to Kirchberg/Philharmonie to visit mudam or 3 Eechelen.

    Dissapointed
Take a Tram direction LuxExpo ( note that all the public transport is free in Luxembourg) and get off at the stop "Philharmonic Mudam". You are now in the midst of Office jungle with nary a signpost in sight. ( Typically Luxembourgish) Cross the road, go down the side of the big white building , past the Melia Hotel until you see a glass topped building. Mudam. If you go 100 yards further to the wall, you have one of the best views of Luxembourg. The Mudam is three stories, but today two were being "rehung" which means a building site with packing cases. Shame they didn't tell us when we bought the tickets. The remaining floor was very sparsely filledand only two pieces stick in the memory. A collection of about twenty paintings, approx one foot square of squares in red and yellow, Looked like the wall of my wife's pre-school class, Second was a set of shiny, plastic covered black cubes . Apparently you have to move one a day. Can you imagine in the morning Wife " Did you move a cube?" "Yes" "Well put it back, I moved one when I made the coffee!" There was also the mandatory pile of bricks, this time cascaded with old recording tape. Overall, Take the tram going the other way to Bonnevoie and get off at the Vauban Museum. Proper art and lots of it.,

    Hard to find
No signs directing you, hidden amongst he trees. Lovely building with lots of space but little to see. Areas were closed sue to new works being constructed. There were people outside working on the building with masks on and the smell inside was not pleasant. The cafe was good.

    Gorgeous building; well organized exhibitions
We took in six different exhibitions, all well organized, with most including an overview brochure. Though only two of the presentations appealed to us, we appreciated the care MUDAM puts into organizing each of its exhibitions. MUDAM is easy to reach from the free Luxembourg City tram.

It's a really impressive sight, a wonderful building. The glass and modern design is a wonderful contrast to the fort...

    Great Sunday morning
It’s small but the collection is really interesting. The building and the setting are amazing. Go early and stay for brunch. It’s great.

    The worst hospitality ever
This for us was a first as the worst hospitality experience ever. You're "greeted" by 2 guards at the door who point you straight to the checking counter. The lady at the desk sells you the tickets and your on your way... exposition 1 and 2, no problem. At the third we were being harassed (cant say it otherwise) if we bought tickets. Not in a nice way, but VERY pushy... the person demanded VERY STRONGLY that we showed him our receipt straight away. Why? Because we did not have a button of some sort. A what? Yeah, you need one and since you dont have one you did not buy a ticket. (And the tone was NOT polite at all). Turns out, the person at the checkin forgot to give it to us... But... no apologies, nobody who would bring them, just "OK" and that's it. Nothing to correct it, no apologies, no nothing. So that's that. Up to the next exhibit, no problem, and the next and... the next person comes up to us that we are not allowed in with a bag (uhhhh why did the 2 guards at the door, the person in execution 1, 2, 3 and 4 did not say anything?? Uhhhh sorry we did not know). Well, the tone was again, VERY rude, very pushy, no apologies why nobody told us sooner, nothing. And that's it. We wished them a lot of... whatever..demanded out money back and left. The worst customer experience ever in any museum we ever visited. So within 15 minutes we were done. Would not recommend this to anybody in the world. These are not hosts, these are guard who do not give a flying f about their guests. What a shame for such a very welcoming town and country.

    VISITED TWICE
Worthwhile visiting this place located about a 15' walk from city centre. On a clear day we can have a nice view of the old town. This Fort Thungen was buit during 1732 by the Austrian General Thungen.

Quite a waste of time and i would not recommend at all unless you have absolutely nothing else to do. The art pieces are simply pointless and lack quality in my honest opinion. Some of them are not even considered art eg. a 20mins video of 2 boys giggling in front of an ATM machine, 10mins video of a woman eating an onion, sand on the floor, etc. Quite a 'surprise' with the level of art presented here.
What's better is the walk behind the building where you could also have a view of the city.

I love modern art
From the moment we arrived to the surly unhelpful receptionist there was literally 4 exhibits to see
We asked for concession tickets as per the leaflet but was told in no uncertain terms that’s not possible! and had to pay full price
Very disappointed
Even at concession rates it was not value for money but full price doubly not value
The building itself was very good
Very airy and light and clean
Exhibit staff didn’t have a clue to the exhibits they were guarding
The door security staff were very helpful though
Wouldn’t recommend visiting
Much better museums to visit for half the price

the building is beautifully designed and worth seeing. The art is randomly displayed without explanation and is disappointing. Nice cafe and area. Fire the curator

Liked more the structure than the exhibition. Staff were so available and nice, nice cafe inside. Price is average, really good for students (free entrance <26). Interesting.

This place is absolutely amazing - I felt like I was on a film set - there isn’t a lot of art on display but I liked that as it meant you took time with each piece - it’s an absolutely wonderful art gallery that I cannot recommend enough

MUDAM is located in a beautiful area of the city and is itself a stunning building, worth studying from the outside. The collection was excellent and beautifully curated on our visit (August 2019), but I felt the atmosphere was slightly cold despite the warmth of the architecture.
