Hop on Bus tour, no real time to hop off
This tour is not as comprehensive as the south tour. Difficult to get off the tour and make all the stops as the bus only comes by every hour. Also difficult to make the choices where to hop off. We did the Aircraft museum, Mosta and Mdina. That’s all we had time as we then needed to get the bus back around all the other stops without getting off.

        Do not waste your money!
I regularly do hop on hop off and this was the worst experience! No sound was working for 100 passengers, no explanation, no apology, nothing. Driven thru industrial sites and on the highway with no sites to be had. Do not waste your money this was an extremely disappointing experience.

        Know before you buy
Would have been great if they would have clearly communicated the bus times correctly. We were at Golden Bay beach, having been told the last bus would be 5 or 530. They never showed. We and others ended up having to get an Uber to get back to the waterfront. It was also Easter Sunday, so they took us to an area that was closed, not realizing it was Sunday. Also, there are two companies with too similar names....Maltasightseeing and SightseeingMalta.... the latter has more busses that run later

        Total scam
Avoid. You wait so long to actually get on the bus. I stood from 10.30 to 11.15 for north route bus at Valletta stop. Bus arrived but full so had to wait to next one. In the end, an employee of the company flagged down another bus and I eventually found a seat with working commentary. Much use as it was. V poor. Tour continued until Mdina. Then we were abruptly told end of route, every one off. So what happened to the rest of the north tour ? In the end I caught regular bus back to Valletta and called it a day. 22 euros wasted. I would like to say how very rude the staff at the bus stop and on the bus were. They pulled off before people had got off the bus. One lady fell getting on as it was just a big scrum to get on but no one helped her. Staff didn't want to know apart from when they were selling you tickets. Just Avoid this money grabbing scam.

One to avoid if you can
Easily the worst such tour we have been on, not helped by the fact that there seem to be almost no marked bust stops. The commentary was patchy and gave out almost completely after Mosta, half way through the tour. Is there nothing to say about Mdina, the ancient capital of Malta and its spectacular buildings? One to avoid if you can.

Terrible malta aight aeeing exoerience hip on hop ofd
Very loe level of professionalism. We were a group of 10 travelers stayin st. Julians travelling one day yo Gozo (day trip) and another day taking the north (blue line) to Mdina. Initially, they told us that apart from hotel transport in the price of 42 euroa it was included also the bus.until.chiricww port and also the tickets from chiricww to mgarr (gozo) however once arrived we had to pay 4.65 euroa each of us. Then once we arrived to gozo island, green line bua was expecting us for tour route for free but unfortunately we had to pay another 5 euros. Thw next day when i asked.the office employee of malta sightseeing in st julians he was.extremely arrogant, provocative and insulting me refusing everything. Above all, he was full od irony because i had a car accident in my country and a wounded hand before visiting malta, he told.me A) first that he is self.employed.and not working for.malta sightseeing B) ful of irony thay because i am.complaining i had my hand wounded and also bullying me that he is going to break me also my other hand and also bullying all our grouo to disappear abd dont come again to the island. I.am.48 years old lawyer and i am.feeling offended and insulted as personality. Congratulations malta sightseeing for such insulting, brutal, rude offensive and liars employees. Tereible.experience Definitely not reccomended and alsi very low level people working in that company, at least the 55-60 yeara ald at 09.30 22/4/2024 at st. julians hop om off station of your company. DON’T DO IT!
Wish I read the reviews before we went on this tour, it’s not something we would normally do but seemed a good way to see the island - how wrong can you be?! When the bus arrived there was a free for all to get on board and upstairs which we didn’t manage. No explanation of how to tune head phones into your language and some points didn’t work. The descriptions were sparse and you couldn’t see the things from the bus anyway. After another free for all getting back on the bus after our first stop we decided not to get off again and returned to Sliema where the tour ended. It was a total waste of money, quite stressful and very badly organised, DONT DO IT!

        An average experience
This tour did what we required, however local buses would have achieved the same end result. The open top was nice but although we were on the second bus of the day the front window was fithy and lessened the experience from the start. This is not a difficult thing to fix. Of the 8 different seats we sat in, only one socket worked so we could not listen to the commentary - this was one of the reasons why we'd chosen this tour and regret not reading the reviews beforehand. We had a dreadful experience in Mdina, which appeared the same for all the open top buses companies. Too many people trying to get onto buses, confusion over which buses to take and a real risk of someone being seriously injured. Passengers were pushing and shoving to ensure they got on the bus and any queuing system went out of the window. Furthermore, one of the seat belts wasn't working. The timetable wasn't accurate from Golden Bay and, had we stuck with the published time, rather than arriving early, cwe would have been stranded. Overall, we got to see the island but wouldn't rush to do this again. Consider public transport as an alternative. These issues are all easy fixes for the tour operators.

        Bad organisation
The tour in the harbor does what it promise but the organisation was really bad and at the end of the tour when we have to take the bus back to La Valletta nobody tell us where to take it ( the boat stops in a different place) and which was the bus ( and was a different one) so we lost it and there are one every hour. So we take a taxi. Take another tour.

        Absolutely appalling .
This is an absolutely shocking and appaling service, but they won't care as they will always sell tickets. Firstly they sell as many tickets as they can, leaving people standing on an aisle or on the stairs, unable to hear the commentary from the 2p headphones ,Many commentary portals not working, and I mean many. As so many people buy tickets ,the bus is always absolutely rammed full, very unsafe to be honest. At Mdina ,we waited for the bus, only for it to get full quickly and shut the bus doors ,leaving dozens unable to get on. When the next bus arrives it may only be able to take so many as people may not want, again your stuck. This service is an ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY AND YOU'RE TIME. It's not enjoyable in the slightest, not relaxing,in any shape or form. DO NOT, even consider buying 2 or 3 day tickets, with the transparent silly deal they think we will fall for. Tried to sell me a ticket for a harbour cruise when I bought the bus ticket, wasn't interested then they knocked 50% off. If you're still thinking of buying a ticket after this then BARTER ,but my advice would be ,get a bus, anything but these clowns. Please head my words ,just don't do it.

        Good but...there are better alternatives...
We took this tour with ISeeMalta. Good things: They picked us up from our hotel in Mellieha and there was some decent commentary. Not so good things: They didn't warn people about stops that were coming up. With it being hop on hop off, there's no control about how many get on at each stop. So you might not be lucky and manage to get on. The tour all the way around takes a few hours so essentially you only really have time for one stop - otherwise (in our case) you miss the connection to your hotel. We stayed on until Mdina. We were going to get off at the artisan village, but due to delays (a ticket inspector had an argument with a couple who had paid at their hotel but didn't have the correct receipt), traffic congestion, and that the village looked deserted. Top tip. Get local busses. Still get stuck in traffic, but they announce every stop. And they're cheap.

Dreadful time keeping, unknown fullness, stressful day. Use the red buses or bolt taxis.
Do not use. Use the red bus service instead or better still a series of Bolt taxi rides. 30min wait before departure, ok we just missed the earlier one, but even then we left late. then a hair raising charge through narrow streets to catch up time. The real problem is the complete unreliabilty of time keeping and the strange criss crossing routes. It takes ages to get to where you want and most of the day is spent waiting for indeterminately late buses or sitting on them waiting for them to leave. Audio narrative really not worth it. At 60 euros for 3 of us, it made no economic sense when bolt rides were about 10 euros for 3 or 4 of us, even from Victoria to the port. 60 euros buys more bolt trips than you would need and gets you around much much quicker without any of the unknown delays, which can become very stressful if you are trying to catch ferries. Seriously - do not use

        A good experience overall.
Boat was smaller than expected and we arrived 20 minutes before departure to find only a few seats left. The actual harbour/3 cities tour was excellent though, with a good commentary on the way round. Really good to see things from the sea which gave a different perspective and some of the views were spectacular. Lots of good photo opportunities.

        Disorganised chaos!
Absolute waste of money and a day of our break. Busses don’t keep anywhere near the timetable so without that, how can you plan your day? Busses were 20 to 30 minutes late but how were we to know so we just ended up spending our day waiting for a bus. Of all the stops, we only had time to visit two sites. Use public the as sport for your day! It’s more reliable, more frequent and a LOT cheaper. Oh, the commentary…utter rubbish. Not even relevant to where the bus was! When the time table says 10 minute wait, it doesn’t. The bus even missed a stop out altogether. Don’t waste your time or money.

      Very bad Service!!

I’m the morning We were waiting almost one hour compare with time that they say bus pass.

Later they left us in Valletta and says pick up every hour in same places that Bus left. We were waiting around 30 minutes in that place after the hour, however when Red Bus stopped 20 meters before the place they left and they did not wait one minute and left. Driver was watching us with our bags and did not stopped. He did not want it!

Additionally Many speakers into the buses were damaged…

I strongly recommend to better rent a car in Malta is cheaper and you do not loose your time waiting this tourism buses and suffering because very bad service. They do not care about tourism service.

Malta has a lot to offer with a great history and many places to see. But the hop on hop off service is not good. There is no ac on the bus and it can get very hot. The drivers arrive early in the station and they don’t wait till the time that supposed to leave. If you miss the bus, the next one is in 1 hour. No great service at all and drivers are not helpful. You can take Malta public bus instead, cheap and they have ac and they go to all the places you want to visit. Also if you want to go inside places, you have to book them online and it’s very little ability

Good Day Eve Thank you for the very insightful review, all our coaches run on a schedule as does the public busses, as you are well aware being in Malta you would have seen how tight our roads are and no busses will wait as traffic would come to a standstill. As for the AC you are correct public busses have them almost all busses in malta with a Roof has them, unfortunately it is impossible to air condition an OPEN top bus. Regards Supreme

Our first trip to Malta, originally booked in 2019. Although the buses are not the most comfortable the staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. My Husband lost his wallet on the bus, {it must have fallen out of his pocket} we contacted the company and the manager sent a WhatsApp photo to check it was the correct wallet. Once we had confirmed it was, we were told what time the bus would be outside our hotel on that day, given information about the driver's name and bus registration and the wallet was returned complete with all the money. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour around the Island

If you are a first-timer to Malta, the hop-on hop-off tours are a good way to see many places on the island, but:
It takes about 3 hours to do just one loop, so be prepared to spend a lot of time on the bus. The audio guides on each seat are quite informative but as everywhere, the free provided cheap, low quality headphones are really bad making the audio sound worse than it is. Simple solution: bring your own !
We started our tour in Marsaxlokk but had no idea where the bus would stop. Many bus stops have no indication that the Hopon/off buses stop there. So we asked several locals to give us a hint. Even the customer service was unable th provide the correct bus stop. So we waited at the wrong bus stop and missed the bus and waited an extra hour as the buses go only about very hour.
If you know where to go, there are faster options, Local transportation (combined with google maps on your phone) are an inexpensive way to get around, but still it takes a lot of time.
Your fastest option is to use a taxi. They are not too expensive. We used eCabs, which is more or less the same as UBER. Fixed rates, no hassle with payment to the driver, the rides are automatically taken from your account. In our case there was no issues with the credit card. Each ride was billed correctly.

Good Afternoon Thank you for the feedback regarding our Hop on Hop off tour. Our headphones which are provided on board are not like the ones you get with your expensive mobile devices, as im sure you can understand these are for one time use only due to hygiene regulation's set out by local authorities. We would recommend if you have your own to use them, however our headphones do work well. We do have detailed maps and Brochures on all our coaches with the routes and stops clearly marked on them as well as the frequency at which the coaches come to each point. We thank you once again for your insightful feedback, and will ensure that all coaches are stocked with the maps and timetables.

We booked with Rami who has a stall opposite Preluna Hotel in Sliema. He did us a great deal for 2 bus tours (North and south) and the harbour cruise (35 each). We really enjoyed all 3, great value for the time you spend and captures everything you need to see. Buses all on time. Commentary interesting on all. Defo get off at Golden Bay on the North tour, its lovely. Mdina is amazing. On the South, we loved Marseloxx and of course Valletta. Harbour cruise was a small ish boat but really good trip. Malta is lovely.

This is the worse Hop On Hop Off I took in our 11 days cruise port and 4 cities visit in Europe, May 21 to June 8th 2022. Our Visit to Valetta Port on May 26th 2022. Before buying the Hop On Hop Off tickets we were informed that the bus is on a 30 minutes stop schedules. On the 2 stops at Mosta, Mdina, we waited in excess of 1.40 minutes for both stops which ruined our short sightseeing day in port.

So all in, we waited 3 hours and 20 minutes just waiting for your Hop On Hop Off bus which ruined our sightseeing on May 26th 2022, on top of the long line to get into the bus !!

Horrible !! Don't trust this company in Valetta Malta, You will be spending all your time waiting for the bus then sightseeing

Everything that's been said already plus a disabled perspective.
      Good points
Outbound adequate transfer from Buliba to Selena adequate. Driver on return was polite, helpful and above all we felt safe in stark contrast to the open top bus drivers.
One was speaking hands free on his mobile for the entire trip and gesticulating with one hand constantly so driving with one hand. Anger management an issue with other road users. Did not stop at designated photo stops but instead stopped for 10 mins at a back street cafe.
Another was smoking whilst driving and unsuccessfully trying to hide it. Smoke in the bus - a health hazard and possibly illegal? Not all disabilities are visible.
Bus pulled up 4 feet from kerb and when it was pointed out to him that this was not consistent with the company's statements about disability, instead of offering to help he asked me if I could do any better! I said probably not but pointed out how other buses on the same bay were accessible from the kerb due to better driving.
Only half the audio points in disabled seats worked and some wheelchair spaces has normal fixed seats fitted.

A great day out with many experiences along the route to pick and choose from. Lovely to be able to hear through headphones provided about the many landmarks and fascinating facts. The recorded guide voice was perfect which is a rarity. I must say I greatly appreciated the drivers of these buses that had to navigate their way through traffic, badly parked cars and still arriving on/just before time at each destination. They made clear call outs at stops. I asked confirming questions as I departed at marsaxslokk and blue grotto the driver was polite and friendly though must be continually asked these questions and all on a Sunday too. This was a really enjoyable way to view and get a feel of Malta. Thank you for a great day out.

This trip guaranteed a seat, with a seat belt ear phones, with commentary for many languages. Driven well with many hop on hop off opportunities. A full day is required for the south tour. North is a different day! Rather over priced as local buses are as easily available.
