Gozo Day Trip from Malta Including Ggantija Temples
Visit Gozo and the prehistoric Ġgantija Temples on this day trip from Malta. In the company of a guide, travel to the neighboring island of Gozo to visit the UNESCO-listed Ġgantija Temples, which are among the oldest megalithic sites in the world. You’ll also see some of the Mediterranean’s most gorgeous beach vistas, visit Victoria’s citadel, and enjoy a 3-course lunch at a local restaurant.
What to Expect
Begin with pickup from your Malta hotel (selected hotels only), and then travel in a climate-controlled coach to the port. Here, board a ferry for the crossing to the pretty island of Gozo.

On arrival, travel south to Xagħra by coach, where the majestic Ġgantija Temples await you. These UNESCO World Heritage–listed temples are among the oldest megalithic monuments in the world, predating even the Giza pyramids in Egypt and England’s Stonehenge.

Explore the site with your guide and hear about the temples’ history as you wander. Many researchers believe that this site was dedicated to the Great Earth Mother, a goddess of fertility.

Continue to Xlendi Bay, an inlet encased by cliffs, before heading to Gozo’s capital of Victoria. Stop for lunch and a glass of wine at a local restaurant before visiting the hilltop citadel.

When the time comes, return to the port and catch the ferry back to Malta. Your tour ends with a hotel drop-off.

Gozo day trip

Saw quite a lot. Dinner basic. A lot of history. The temples was okay but not a lot to see. The ferry was good and reasonable prices for coffee.
