- lindanU8861SV0 contributionsTrip to Puglia Region and MateraMy daughter and I recently spent a wonderful week with an absolutely amazing family on their Olive Farm near Castiglione.. Emilio, his wife Clara and their 4 children as well as Emilio’s brother Miguel were the perfect hosts. Chef Emilio prepared our breakfast and evening meal each day and either Emilio, Clara or Miguel took us on outings to visit the area to such wonderful places such as Otranto, Castro, Gallipoli (one of my favourite) as well as Zinzulusa Cave which was very interesting. One evening we visited the city of Lecce with Antonio, Emilio and Miguel’s father, which is so beautifully lit up at night and then we stopped at a local famous pizza restaurant and the pizza was absolutely delicious. Great experience and I’d do it again! We then went to the city of Matera for 3 wonderful days and had fantastic tours with Alessio and Cosimo. I had to go home and watch the James Bond movie No Time to Die again to see the wonderful views of Matera within the film. We would also like to thank Omar from Solento Tours. He was most helpful with our requests for further changes to our itinerary once we completed the city of Matera portion where we decided to go to the Amalfi Coast and Naples. Thanks Omar!!Written November 16, 2023

- helsmith230 contributionsGreat trip to MaltaWe used Omar of Soleto Travel to plan a 5 day private trip to Malta. He gave us a choice of 4 hotels and we chose Palais Le Brun, a brilliant hotel. Each day we were picked up by Jonathan, our driver, and Dennis , our guide. We toured Valletta and it’s neighborhoods, the island of Malta, and a day on Gozo. Jonathan and Dennis were not only knowledgeable, but very enjoyable people. Our trip was enriched by their company. I could not recommend this company more highly.Written August 27, 2023
- kirkstephen0 contributionsGreat Experience Visiting Sicily & Malta!Back in February, while the skies were cold and dark in New Jersey, my wife and I had decided that we needed to take a well-deserved vacation to Sicily in May, so we looked online for some reputable tour operators. After finding several over-priced operators, my wife researched and found SoletoTravel. The company had GREAT reviews, so we reached out and were in touch with Omar almost immediately. It was easy to communicate with him on WhatsApp, and he was extremely responsive and was always able to answer our questions within a short period of time. After reviewing the many tour options on the Soleto website, we realized that we were looking for something a bit more customized. Omar offered that they specialize in making custom tours and put together an itinerary based on our travel dates and preferred destinations. In addition to 9 days in Sicily, we also added 3 days in Malta to our tour. Everything was fantastic - from the sites we saw, to the hotels, to the restaurants that were included in the tour, to the personal drivers (Salvatore and Angelo) who drove us around the island. They were professional, friendly, and always on time. The drivers in Malta were equally outstanding, including Jonathan, owner of AJ Transfer, and his driver Alex. We got to see everything that we were planning to see, and the entire trip went very smoothly. While we did not have a personal tour guide in Sicily (as most of the sites were self-guiding tours or tour guides were provided by the sites), we did have a personal tour guide in Malta. His name was Dennis, and he was a Maltese rock star in that he really knew the history of this unique island nation and all the locations that we visited. You could tell that he loved what he did and was enthusiastic about sharing his country's history with others. I would highly recommend Dennis as tour guide if you plan to go to Malta. Everyone who was part of our trip was simply outstanding. In summary, SoletoTravel and Omar were fantastic, and we would highly recommend them to anyone considering a trip to Sicily and/or Malta.Written June 27, 2023
- L7736CLdianeb0 contributionsAncient & MystifyingFirst I’d like to thank Omar the manager for making the booking so easy and accommodating. Including having us picked up and returned to our hotel. Thank you! Dennis our tour guide was fantastic! He was extremely knowledgeable and yet delightfully witty. Those two aspects combined made for a fun day! Typically in Malta on a private tour you get the tour guide and then someone else drives the car. This allows for your guide to be fully focused on providing the guests with an amazing fact filled experience while you are being driven to the various temple sites. Jason, our driver, definitely added to our overall great day! The temples are ancient and even somewhat mystifying! Mind boggling to say the least! Malta is a must do destination!Written April 10, 2023
- AriannaM11530 contributionsAmazing experienceI had a great experience with Soleto Travel, choosing Malta Highlights, Omar was great in the planning and proposing excellent hotels taking in consideration my preferences. Julia was an amazing tour guide with an extensive knowledge about the history of Malta, flexible and a friendly person. The drivers, Alex and Jonathan, were also great and flexible. I received also from them useful infornation about Malta discovery . Thanks to Alex, I discovered an important local food tradition " Pastizzi", it's a must if you go in Malta. In Summary my experience was fantastic. The atmosphere of Soleto Travel team was friendly and I felt a warm welcome by them.Written April 2, 2023
- C F0 contributionsDiscover Matera and Taste of Salento TourSOLETO TRAVEL: First of all, Omar at Soleto Travel was great, from my first inquiry to the last day of the trip. He returned emails promptly, answered questions clearly, made suggestions and generally made the whole experience very easy. I highly recommend Soleto travel and would not hesitate to book any of their tours. The trip I took was Discover Matera and a Taste of Salento. I was a solo female traveler on this tour and just took a leap of faith - it was well worth it. TASTE OF SALENTO: Pretend that someone told you that you had long lost relatives who owned an olive oil farm in Salento and wanted you to come visit for six days? That is exactly what this felt like. From the moment Antonio (the father) picked me up at the train station to the moment Emilio dropped me off in Matera, I could not have been treated more warmly. This did not feel like a “tour”, it felt like a “stay”. Don’t get caught up in the printed itinerary and stated activities. Emilio adjusts the schedule based on the season, the weather and other circumstances. You might not get every single thing listed, but you will get a lot more that are not. Emilio fixes a light breakfast every morning and explains where we’re going and what we’re doing that day. Because this experience is capped at four people (we had two), Emilio drives you in the family car to all the cool places (many that would be inaccessible by a tour bus). You walk around while he explains the history of the place or his experiences there. You set the pace (the other woman in my tour had hurt her foot and couldn’t walk very fast - no problem. We were still able to see everything). And you get free time to walk around, grab a bite, shop or just sit and appreciate the experience. The highlight of every day was dinner. Emilio is a fabulous chef and prides himself on cooking fresh, organic, local food paired with local wine (all served with his family’s organic olive oil of course). His passion is evident and every meal was excellent. Two of the days we had Carlo as a guide, who was fun and knowledgeable. One day Emilio’s wife Clara took us wine tasting and sightseeing. And of course Antonio, who was a character, popped by to say hi and stir up trouble! I could go on and on but I will stop and just say this: If you want a 4-star hotel with a “farm” theme in a big city, this is not for you. This is an actual farm in a very small town with very comfortable accommodations run by a sweet and generous couple (plus four kids and a dog) who want nothing more than for you to learn about, experience, and hopefully appreciate, the land they love. No tour buses, no guides with hankies tied to poles, no one-size-fits-all restaurants or cookie-cutter tours. Live like a local, with locals, for a one-of-a-kind experience. I highly recommend it. DISCOVER MATERA: I knew nothing about Matera so I was excited to arrive and see this beautiful city. The only thing I would mention is the whole city is practically stairs, including up to the room, so it might be a difficult city for some people with mobility issues so keep that in mind when booking. That said it is such a beautiful and unique city and I loved just wandering around and getting lost in all the little streets and passages. The accommodations were fabulous and so unique (a room built into a cave!) My guide was Cosimo, who took me one day on a city tour and the next on a tour of Murgia Materana, the park across the ravine. He was so knowledgable, friendly and patient with all my questions. Even though I was the only one, our tour went beyond the allotted time and he did not complain or try to rush me. I also got a private food and wine tasting with Lucca who was also wonderful, knowledgeable and generous. The place I stayed had a restaurant, but because I was the only one there, I would have my breakfast on site and then they would book dinner for me at a nice local restaurant. I loved Matera and wish I had a couple more days there. All in all this was the perfect vacation. The people were wonderful, the food and wine delicious, the history fascinating, the scenery breathtaking and the experience unique. I highly recommend this tour and Soleto Travel to anyone!Written January 31, 2023
- Haiyin T0 contributionsA wonderful immersion of Malta's acheology and historyI fully enjoyed my tour with Anthony: We started at Hagar Qim temple. It was interesting to see the temple model first, learning how it corresponds with solstices, equinoxes and stars. The temple itself is incredibly well preserved. I could almost feel how the ancient people were building and enjoying this incredibly intelligent structure. Ghar Dalam is a beautiful site, both inside and outside of the cave. It is basically a vertical history witness- there are traces all the way from the Stone Age to the Roman era to WWII. Truly amazing. Our last stop was Tarxien. Unfortunately it was closed by the time we arrived. However, Anthony's vivid explanations of the temples and their engineering excellence well made up for my disappointment of not being able to enter. While driving, Anthony also shared with me development of Malta in recent history, as well as his personal life story. He's not only a knowledgeable guide, but also a worldly human being. I'll definitely return for a sequel of this tour.Written January 22, 2023

- AnaRosaRS0 contributionsSoletoTravel By GTS Ltd Malta THE BEST OPTIONWe have spent Easter 2022 in Malta and I want to thank a tour operator for all the support they gave us to get experienced guides and drivers. The agency is called SoletoTravel By GTS Ltd Malta and the owner, Omar, was attentive to us at all times to make our vacation unforgettable. I want to especially thank Maria, our driver in Gozo, for her professionalism, experience, know-how and deep knowledge of the island. Without her the trip would not have been the same. Thanks again to María and Omar for these fantastic holidays that we have been able to enjoyWritten April 23, 2022
- Russell W0 contributionsGreat time in Gozo with DennisI decided to book this tour directly after the Malta temples excursion. We wanted to visit the small island of Gozo and this seemed like an excellent opportunity. The tour went great, we liked the flexibility by modifying the itinerary to see some unscheduled sights. I absolutely recommend the salt marshes after Marsalforn near the Qbajar bay and the scenic route along the cliffs ... Outstanding! Our driver also took us to visit Xlendi village and the Dwejra Bay such a breathtaking view. We had the same guide as the day before, who with his knowledge and humor made the time go by so quickly. I also recommend Xlendi bay for a quick fish lunch right on the seashore! Impeccable the driver and the minivan used on the tour. Professional agency service, flawless in the organization of our 2 days with them. Thank you guys!Written February 4, 2022
- Russell W0 contributionsExcellent Tour with a great guideI am an archeology enthusiast and with my wife we decided to book this tour. We were extremely satisfied, we visited Tarxien the Ghar Dalam cave and the majestic Hagar Qim temple! Impressive! The pick up with the driver Jonathan was punctual and precise, but the guide Dennis was the real surprise, beyond all expectations. The guys was polite, with a great culture and professionalism and also a little humor, he explained us the story of these unique Neolithic temples in the world. We felt very comfortable and comfortable throughout the tour. The used car was spotless. I was so satisfied that we booked a second excursion to Gozo with the same agency for the next day.Written February 4, 2022

Our tour guide and driver were INCREDIBLE! She was so knowledgeable and due to her being a local, she was able to take us to places that were less traveled. This allowed us to stand or sit and take in the sights for as long as we wanted to. She was very thoughtful and took ample pictures of us. Our driver had wet wipes in the car. TIP: carry tissue for the toilets and hand sanitizer as often there is no toilet paper or soap in bathrooms.
We had two additional stops that weren’t on the itinerary but they were serene and places the tour guide and driver frequent in their personal time. We got to overlook the Blue Lagoom vs. being in the crowds and pulled over to the side of the road for a panoramic view of Mdina!
WORTH EVERY PENNY!
Please tip your tour guide and driver.

My husband it a history buff and loved the background and stories that Dennis (our guide) provided as he led us through this magnificent city! I did not know much about Malta before this tour and I absolutely fell in love with the architecture and history of this area. If you want a thorough comprehensive tour Dennis is your man!
