About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- dawnhV4087PH0 contributionsGreat tour of VallettaI would definitely recommend this walking tour. Romina was the perfect tour guide. She explained about the history of Valletta, showed us the old and modern sides and explained the history behind it. She took us to the beautiful garden where the views were spectacular. She also took us to the residential side of Valletta pointing out a restaurant to get traditional Maltese food and where to get the traditional coffee from. I thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour. Grazzi RominaWritten December 1, 2024
- 81dipakk0 contributionsUnderwhelming food experienceMy partner and I did this food tour on 29/11/24. For context, we have done a few food tours on other holidays elsewhere recently. Although we got to sample some traditional Maltese foods, the tour overall was disappointing. Key issues for us were: We expected that in between stops for food and drink, we would be told something about the history of Malta and introduced to some of its landmarks and sights. However, on this tour, there was too much focus on this, so much so that it felt more like a walking tour, until the final stop for lunch. The breadth and quality of the food and drink experience was on the whole underwhelming. For example, besides some pastizzis at the start of the tour, we had no hot food. For 50 cents each, we had far better pastizzis elsewhere. For 45 euros each (i.e. for almost the same price as this tour) we had a seven course tasting menu, which was a far better and more complete experience of traditional Maltese cuisine.Written November 30, 2024
- technof20180 contributionsPoor meeting instructions and then poor customer serviceI had a disappointing experience with the customer service from this tour operator. My partner and I arrived 20 minutes early for the tour at the Triton Fountain. We spent some time looking for our tour guide and eventually found what we thought was the Valletta Walking Tour for small groups, as it was the only operator present at the fountain with a tour sign displayed. However, we discovered halfway through that we had mistakenly joined the Walking Food Tour of Valletta. After realizing this, I requested a refund since we had wasted our morning travelling to Valletta for the wrong tour. Ultimately, my partner and I decided to book the Original Valletta Walking Tour later in the day, which provided clear meeting instructions: to meet by the stairs next to the Parliament building, with the guide wearing a yellow shirt and holding an umbrella. This tour was excellent. Unfortunately, the response from the Valletta Walking Tour for small groups was unsatisfactory. I did not receive a refund or any explanation when I inquired about it.Written November 29, 2024
- jpmitchell250 contributionsExcellent history lessonSuper informative guide, learnt a lot from our great guide - Nigel. If I'm honest, maltese food was just a bit meh! All part of the experience thoughWritten November 28, 2024
- kmthoennes2220 contributionsGreat tour!We booked this tour of Valletta and so glad we did! We walked around a bit before the tour, but learned a lot about Malta's history and Valletta with the guide to help appreciate everything we saw. I don't remember our guide's name, but she had a wealth of information. She also provided recommendations on places to eat in town which is always super helpful! I recommend this tour if you're visiting Malta, especially if it's your first visit, so you can get a better idea of what makes Malta so special.Written November 23, 2024

- B4088YMcatherineh0 contributionsExcellent intro to the history, sights and tastes of VallettaChris was our guide for this tour which was a brilliant mix of history, sociology and Maltese cuisine! Chris's style ensured that we all gained a good understanding of the history of Valletta and Malta, while getting a sense of the impact of history on the food.Written November 1, 2024
- NedHickey10 contributionsNot worth the price or timeThe quality of the main meal was poor especially for the price paid for this tour. Also, having chocolates and sweet liquor before the main meal is not customary most anywhere. This should have occurred after the main meal. This tour is overpriced for the value received.Written October 30, 2024
- ferg170 contributionsGood for solo travellersGreat idea for travelling solo when visiting Valetta. We were shown the main sites of Valetta including the midday gun salute. The tour guide was knowledgeable and gave us tips of places to have cheap eats.Written October 30, 2024

- Sherpa363343222810 contributionsInteresting history and gentle walkLorraine was very knowledgeable and obviously very experienced. The walk was gentle as she cleverly led us down hill so is suitable for those less mobile. The history of the area was fascinating. Afterwards, we ate at the restaurant. Lorraine suggested Don Berto. The food was delicious and I can highly recommend it too.Written October 26, 2024

We met Chris, our guide, on the 10.00am morning tour of Valletta and that was wonderful. We learnt that he was running an afternoon tour of Mdina and Rabat, so we took the very easy public bus over (any #50 bus will get you there from Valletta - 2 euros each).
At 4.00pm it’s getting cooler and this was ideal for the leisurely stroll through this beautiful and ancient city.
It’s Chris’s home, so he was very enthusiastic and knew pretty much like everybody in town. His church festival was in full swing, so we got caught up in the atmosphere and felt as though we really were getting an immersion into local culture. We have much to learn in USA from these warm people!
You will not find a better tour guide in Malta than Chris. Warm and friendly. Extremely knowledgeable and most engaging in his delivery. His wit and humor made both tours exceptional.
We would highly recommend both the Valletta tour and the Mdina tour with Chris. A great memory and experience. Thank you, Chris.

Rabat and Mdina are brimming with incredible history and architecture, yet this is the only tour which will also show you through the incredible tight-knit community which makes this place magical. It is that one step ahead from normal tours as you really get the feeling of getting to know its people and what makes them so proud of who they are.
Thanks again

Really enjoyed this tour and Chris’s perfectly pitched guidance and explanations really brought everything to life. Chris has a lovely manner and way of explaining the history and heritage of this remarkable city and it’s so worth it to take this tour rather than wandering around aimlessly or trying to read descriptions from a guidebook. 5pm is the ideal time to visit the city in the cool of the evening and finish just in time for a delicious dinner!

Everything you could want in a tour and guide. Christian is brilliant, very engaging and charming. He seemingly knows everyone in Mdina, lots of people were coming up to him to say hi which he skilfully wove into the tour and explained a lot of interesting/quirky things to us. One of the best walking tours we've ever had.

While we’ve had good tours around the world before, this one was Head and Shoulders above any before.
Chris’s open and vibrant style quickly got everyone to introduce themselves and put everyone at their ease. After giving us a brief historical introduction he then walked us through Medina making us understand how the history of the city was reflected in its architecture. Obviously the humour he instilled in his stories as well keeping the Game of Thrones in the story was really funny and kept us all enthralled.
After Medina we then went across the road to see Rabat. This was made all the more interesting as one of the churches was preparing for a major celebration and this was really interesting to see how the church and town were preparing.
I can highly recommend Chris and next time we’re back we’ll join one of his other tours.

The tour of Mdina and Rabat with Chris was undoubtably a grand finale to our recent short trip to Malta.Mdina itself is an absolute delight but even more so as it was brought to life from an historic and cultural perspective by our very knowledgeable and charming guide. His passion for Mdina and his hometown Rabat really enhanced our visit and made us feel that we had not only caught a glimpse of this beautiful location but become immersed in the spirit of the island of Malta.
Staying on to eat in Mdina after the afternoon tour and seeing this beautiful city illuminated by lamplight unlocked another whole dimension which we would recommend as an experience not to be missed.

Thank you so much Christian for such an unforgettable experience to Mdina and Rabat. Although it was so windy and cold, we still very much enjoyed the sights and the stories behind the walls. We’ve never been to Mdina and Rabat before and learned a lot thru the walking tour. Not only did he know the history very well but he was also very knowledgeable about the present day city and also gave us many recommendations for restaurants and places where we might want to revisit next time we go.
He is truly very passionate about Malta and is full of interesting facts and stories about the country. This is our second tour with him and he still oozes with new information about his beautiful country. Christian is the BEST and he will make sure you leave the tour with plenty of other options of things to do and thank you so much for helping us with transport back to our hotel. It was our pleasure to be in your tour twice!

This was second tour with Chris, who is definitely one of the best guides I have ever experienced.
This truly was an insider's tour as Rabat and Mdina are Chris's home towns and he has unparalleled knowledge of the history and culture of these beautiful places, which he imparted to us with great care and humour.
Once again, he made all members of the group feel comfortable and passed on his love of his hometown to us.
I loved the way he greeted friends and neighbours throughout the tour.
I have no hesitation in highly recommending this tour and also Chris as a guide. At least five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Many thanks Jacob for a beautiful review. This tour is planned in such a way to give you the millenary history of these towns in a light hearted way but also to give you an insight into the community and people of these amazing cities.

Chris is a very friendly and engaging man, whose extensive knowledge of Mdina and Rabat makes this walking tour a must for anyone who is interested in visiting this Malta jewel. It was hard to believe that we had been walking and talking for two hours, as the time flew by in friendly chat full of extensive detailed information about Mdina and Rabat.
I highly recommend, that if you are visiting this area and you want to know what you are looking at, rather than reading information in a guide book, you join one of Chris’s tours.

Took ChrIstian’s Mdina and Rabat tour with our family of four. Christian singled out our youngest lad, whom he called Joseph the King, and made a nice fuss of him. We were self-conscious our young boys (11 and eight) would hold up proceedings but Christian made our boys so very welcome. Mdina is a magical place but Christian took it to the next level as he’s a local and knew everything about the place (including the mayor, his wife and the mayor’s mother-in-law who dreamt up the sumptuous cakes at Fontanelle, a local restaurant). We bumped into Christian’s Dad in Rabat! You can’t beat local knowledge but Christian also sprinkled in some insights about politics, society and culture on modern Malta without foisting it on the group. Context, both historical and contemporary, is everything. Wish all tours were like this. They are not. Book him and you won’t be disappointed.

Chirs was so a nice tour guide, we went in a very small group what i enjoyed really much. Everyone who lived in Rabat or Mdina knowed him. He let us taste some typically bakery food of Rabat, that was very tasty! His knowledge is very big of the two towns. At the beginning he let us intodruced by ourselves. So everything was very familiar. He talked with everybody a few minutes and asked about the life and he also talked about his life and his beautiful city. So we felt very welcome :)
