- rebeccalU2419PT0 contributionsOpen Qualification with Dive Base MaltaI did my Open Water qualification with Dive Base Malta and they were amazing. All the staff and supporting Dive Masters were great, but I need to give a special shout out to Lena, Sonia and Davide. I was very nervous to do my diving qualification, especially when practising the essential life-saving skills. But Lena and Sonia were very patient, kept me calm, and boosted me up afterwards to feel proud of my progress. When doing my final open water dives, I struggled with my breathing at 18m and started to panic. Sonia was absolutely excellent in calming me down under the water and supporting me to finish the dive. Overall, I felt very safe and supported with Dive Base Malta, who were also flexible to my schedule and letting me sign up to do extra elements of my qualification at short notice. I couldn't think of a better centre to do my qualification with.Written June 15, 2024

- sarahkL6214PI0 contributionsThe FRIENDLIEST staff!!My first ever time diving in Malta and it was great! From start to finish, it was an incredible experience with the friendliest of staff. Antonio and Clare were amazing at making me feel welcome, providing water and snacks during our water interval and great conversation. I would definitely recommend to any solo/ dive travellers wanting a chilled dive with some amazing people. Definitely will return!Written March 16, 2024
- shanayapandey0 contributionsBest scuba diving course I've takenCompleting the Advanced Open Water Diver and Nitrox Enriched Air courses at this dive center was an exceptional experience. Davide provided top-notch instruction, ensuring my understanding and safety every step of the way. The team went above and beyond to accommodate me and their commitment to personalized learning was worth every penny. I can't wait to return for more dives with this fantastic team. Thank you so much Davide, Georgia, and Antonio!Written March 12, 2024

- Demonsbarnyard0 contributionsA nice Italian touch to Malta divingSuper friendly divebase in Malta run by Gioria and Antonio. Ultra-professional both in the check-in and in the diving itself. Great service, good briefings by the two interns and the shore diving in the North was nice as well. So we were happy. Only slight negative was the state of the rental equipment (its maybe late season) but the BCD‘s not closing properly, mouth-pieces of regulators bitten through to the end etc… would be nice to have it newer bit this is more wishing than complaining. If we come back, we‘d dive with them again!Written October 22, 2023
- mark l0 contributionsABSOLUTELY FANTASTICJust had 6 dives with Divebase and they were amazing. The best dive centre I have ever used. Professional friendly and well organised. We booked it all from the UK with the beauty and brains of the centre Georgia, always replies with any questions and made the booking very easy .. The dive centre is right on the beach front great location. The diving well where do I start , Blue hole, P-31 wreck . All the caves just a divers dream. Our instructions Antonio our Italian god and David were amazing. Having not dived for 4 years we got a refresher from Antonio which was brilliant. Very patient and attention to detail. My son Lewis was doing his advanced Padi which he loved ,and passed with the help of the great dive team. IF YOU ARE GOING TO DIVE MALTA USE DIVEBASE !! You will love it. Thanks again from Mark , Ethan and Lewis Scotland UkWritten June 9, 2023
- Roving344626329760 contributionsWould most definitely recommend 👌This diving school is a little gem. All staff were friendly, extremely welcoming and helpful. Me and my daughter did a rebreather course with Antonio who's knowledge and delivery of information was the best we have ever had. My daughter unfortunately had an anxiety attack before diving and the staff were incredible with her. One even gave her a hug when she returned to the office alone which she says was much needed. I then went on to do two further dives with Antonio. Everything from the equipment, drive to the dive site, briefing was all top notch which resulted in a very relaxed and fun diving experience. This has improved my confidence no end and I now can't wait to do more. You guys have definitely got it just right. Thank you 😊Written June 1, 2023
- lucy2277110 contributionsBrilliantMyself and my boyfriend are just back from doing the PADI discover scuba diving experience. Cannot recommend enough. Everything was well explained and as first timers, we were feeling nervous when we got into the water. Our instructor helped to calm us and gave us time to decide when/ if we wanted to do it. We are so glad we did and had a great time in the water. Recommend to anyone in this area of Malta!Written May 6, 2023
- seanyldn0 contributionsA wonderful way to get our PADI Open Water certification! My friend and I have just returned to London after a holiday in Malta, specifically to complete our 'Part B' PADI Open Water certification after doing the confined 'part A' in London three months earlier. Strap yourselves in for a long and happy review! We had an absolutely brilliant time doing our course, from the start to finish - and even before we got there! Caterina and Giorgia were fantastic in getting us booked in for the dates we needed, advising about accommodation (more on that below), providing helpful advice and answering other questions over email. It was lovely to meet Giorgia in the centre too, always friendly every morning! We did our course with Antonio who set up the centre, there was another instructor (also an Antonio!) who was around when we were getting ready as he was taking other parties - he was super friendly, added to the camaraderie of the whole experience, and was really helpful in providing me tips to make the most of taking my camera down on the final dive as he specialised in diving photography. On our course, Antonio was all you could need from an instructor. He was really enthusiastic, patient (in the face of two guys who were a bit slow to master correctly buoyed descents and safety stops!) and always ready to answer questions. We never felt patronised, and we never felt out of our depth - he pitched his instruction just right. Where I was making mistakes with my kick or with my buoyancy, he explained the issues both in a practical sense, but also the physics reasons behind what was happening, which really helped understand how to improve. The gear that was available as part of the dive was of good quality. My friend brought his own semi-dry suit and mask, and I brought my own mask, gloves and boots - but everything we needed in between was well-fitting and had no issues throughout. Though the fins were getting rather tired and warped from people walking in them. The water temperature was 16c in February, and the gear I was provided ensured I never felt even slightly cold at any time - not even my hands and feet, which usually get cold very easily. We did the course across three half days (mornings), starting with a confined check dive in the Bugibba reef outside the centre to a depth of around 6-7m. This was a wonderful start, with an easy walking shore entry straight from the centre- and then plenty of wildlife even at a comparatively shallow depth. Having done Part A in a swimming pool, this whole first dive was awesome and overwhelming in the best possible way. As might be expected, we were pretty awful at managing our buoyancy on this first dive - and so doing it in the relative safety of the shallow reef was good as we could enjoy the experience without the worry of sinking to the bottom of the ocean or rocketing to the surface from depth! Day two took us in their van to Cirkewwa Marine Park, at the NW tip of the island. We went down to a depth of 12m in both dives. The first entry was wading from shore into 'Susie's Pool'- surprisingly hard to stand up! This reef starts out shallow as another training area, but then opens out into deeper water. The second entry was a giant stride, following the reef in a different direction. Though as we conserved our air well, we were able to come back around to emerge at Susie's Pool after an extended trip, which was nice! I absolutely loved both these dives (OW1 and OW2) - we saw moray eels, parrot fish, fire worms and all sorts of other beautiful creatures. The reef was exciting too, we had two opportunities to swim through small caves and openings in the reef - the first time was one of the most amazing things I've ever done, probably- I couldn't even swim until October, and here I was metres under the sea swimming through corals! The second I rather messed up my buoyancy as I took a big gasp of 'oh god how do I do this?' and promptly ascended, ha. The dive also took in 'Cirkewwa Arch' which was truly beautiful, with the living corals covering the surface, the whole thing effervesced with streams of audible bubbles. I could have stayed watching that for hours! We also went out to see the Cirkewwa jars/amphoras which were laid on the bed below, too deep for our dive, but with excellent visibility (at least 20m every day!) we could see things clearly. I did have some issues with equalising my ears on descent, and I made this briefly worse with a couple of small buoyancy/breathing errors. Antonio gave me time to work out my problems on my own before stepping in and ensuring I did not injure myself by correcting my buoyancy until I was able to clear the ear squeeze successfully. The final two dives took us to Zurrieq, and we did the maximum depth of 18m here. I felt so much more confidence after ironing out my various issues in the previous dives, and so moving out into the open ocean away from the reef with many metres of water below us was a surprisingly serene experience. Along with not being able to swim last year, I also had a large phobia of the open water (thalassophobia) - this whole experience was a challenge to myself, and now I'm just fascinated, not scared by the ocean. I took the time to just completely embrace where I was, and it felt amazing. I was hoping to maybe see a little more new wildlife on this dive at the extra depth, but we still got to swim through shoals of bream, saw more eels and even a needlefish, and I wasn't disappointed at all. The corals along the reef edge were really beautiful to look at. I was really pleased to be able to take down my GoPro for the last dives, having proven I wasn't going to have any issues in managing the extra item. I have aphantasia (no mind's eye/mental imagery) so without photographs, video or the vividly written recounting of experiences (such as the long post I'm writing right now!), I risk losing the ability to recall the things I've done when trying to remember later in life. Having the footage I took will make sure I never forget how awesome these first dives were. After the course, back at the base we did a short bit of theory around nitrogen absorption and did some dive tables practice. As we'd both done them on our e-learning, Antonio again did not patronise, and took the time instead to confirm our knowledge rather than tell us what we already knew. Everything about the experience was excellent. We always felt safe and in capable hands, the locations were beautiful, the visibility was brilliant (we DID time our trip perfectly, with calm seas and glorious sunshine every day!) and everyone at DiveBase made us feel so welcome, and they were keen to share in our achievements - passing the course felt a real accomplishment. The pic is from our final safety stop, I'm on the left celebrating a job well done! As a final point, I'd ABSOLUTELY recommend you stay with the hotel next door that they are partnered with. The Seaview Hotel is a 4* adults only hotel, newly built a couple of years ago - and we had a lovely stay. They do discounted rates for Divebase customers, so got a five night stay for cheaper than visibly worse hotels elsewhere. Being able to walk out of the hotel in the morning three minutes before you were due to start and just wandering next door was great too, as one day we started at 8am. Plenty of time to get breakfast without having to rush. I came to Bugibba 18 years ago, which is partly while I opted to try get us a booking here so I could see what it was like all these years later. I'm so glad I did, and I'm so glad I booked with Divebase! Thank you all :)Written February 25, 2023
- Shauna50 contributionsGreat place to do the PADI advanced course!I recently completed my PADI advanced scuba diving course with Dive base. We went to Cirkewwa Marine park and went to some really cool dive sites including the tug boat, the jars, Madonna statue and the P29 Patrol Boat. The dive shop is in a convenient location and the dive site was a nice scenic 25 min drive from the shop. The staff were amazing, particularly Antonio my dive instructor. He is super experienced making my dive experience relaxed and enjoyable!Written August 2, 2022
- MacFergo0 contributionsHelpful and thoroughWe completed our Open Water Qualification with Antonio. The instruction was tremendous and we had a fantastic experience. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Caterina always replied quickly to emails and explained arrangements clearly. When one of our party couldn't dive one day, the centre managed to arrange another session for him to complete his qualification. Overall, our experience with DiveBase Malta was excellent. We thought pricing was fair and competitive.Written July 14, 2022

- townleyben900 contributionsPerfect end to the dayMe and my Girfriend had a great time on the sunset snorkelling, It was extremely windy so would have been easy to call it off but instead they drove us round to a sheltered bay and we snorkelled there instead. We got to see a octopus and a sting wray which was awesome. The guide could spot things we never would have on our own and then dived down to make sure everyone could see it. The guide (like everyone at Divebase) was extremely friendly. Great way to end the day whatever your swimming standard as wetsuits and flippers are provided making it warm and easy to keep up.Written June 12, 2022
- joyces1910 contributionsGreat team!I enjoyed diving with DiveBase Malta. I booked at the store, which is easy to find at the boulevard. For me it was important to know that the dive would take place, even when I would be the only one to go for a dive. We did 2 dives, entering the water from the shore. Antonio & Antonio gave my dive group (3 persons) with their profesionallity, hospitality, patience and humor a great dive experience.Written May 5, 2022

Antonio was amazing, he made us feel so safe and encouraged us the whole way. I was very nervous all day before-hand but I did the whole dive and didn’t go back once
We were brought through hand signals and safety before hand, followed by a quiz to make sure we knew everything. They were very respectful of the wildlife and made sure to protect it and the environment.
The weather was really bad and windy during our stay (huge waves everywhere we went) so I was worried the experience would be cancelled. But they knew exactly where to bring us and we were in completely calm bay with lots of fish and clear water.
I cannot recommend these guys enough, we are planning to come back to Malta for better weather and we will absolutely do another dive with them!

Superb experience, I would 100% recommend DiveBase. This was my first ever dive and I found the instructors to be brilliant. Safety is a total priority and they take lots of time explaining everything and making sure you are totally comfortable before beginning the actual dive. The instructor was fantastic with my young son (10) helping him with everything. Can’t wait to use DiveBase again. 10 out of 10.

Went with my boyfriend on our 3rd day in Malta. We were in a group of 5 with two instructors, Georgia and Antonio. The instructors were very friendly and gave us an hour demo on scubadiving.
They provided all of the equitment so we just brought our own towels and swimming costumes. Once in the water the instructors checked that we were comfortable and safe to start diving.
I would definitley recommend this!

If you’re a tourist looking for a fun day out to see some cool fish/sea animals this is not for you. It’s a scuba lesson, there is no boat and you have to walk in heavy scuba gear down to the beach. It feels awkward with people snorkelling and enjoying the beach next to you - not like the trips you can do in other countries.
The instructor started out really friendly but wasn’t particularly patient with those who struggled with the breathing and had never scuba dived before.
They are safety conscious tho and if you’re a qualified diver I’m sure they’d take good care of you.

I am a qualified SCUBA diver who had booked to do this with my partner who has never done it before. Unfortunately, my partner was unwell and so could not attend so I did it alone. Even though I have dived various times before, the experience was still enjoyable for me and seemed to be enjoyable for the other people who had not dived in the past. Antonio was our instructor and he was very friendly and good at explaining things.

This is my 2nd time scuba diving. Have to refresh my theory and skills about everything since I’ve done the first time ages ago. Davide, my instructor, is very professional and reassuring (thank God😇). I did the scuba lessons in the morning and wreck dive in the afternoon. It was marvellous that I think I’ll be back again in malta in no time to do my next courses for diving. My apologies to Davide for almost crushing his hand while diving 😆🤣 think I squeezed it too hard. Hope to see you again soon! Massive thanks to Antonio too ☺️ you did well minding my friend while I was diving 😆.

We are a family of 4 who wanted to try scuba diving for the first time.
We read the reviews on-line, and didn't hesitate to book Dive Base Malta. We had a formal and informative education session before we took to the water. There was even an exam to be sure we were paying attention!
Great instructors who made us feel safe I the water at all times. Smooth experience from booking to diving. All equipment provided by the team, and we wouldn't hesitate to use Dive Base Malta again.

Trying scuba diving for the first time is a great family activity, new skills are developed and you are introduced to a new and adventurous dimension. It was a pleasure to meet you and have the chance to share our passion and job with your family. Never stop diving!
Next time in Malta, pass by DiveBase so we go dive together once again!
Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate.

I have two questions:
1. Do you dive to the ship wreck in this activity?
2. Do you have some Go Pro (or any other on-head cameras like that) for rent ?
Thanks in advance
