About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Matilda W0 contributionsBeautiful experience!Beautiful experience! An absolutely must do in Malta! Staff on board were lovely. I suggest getting there an hour early before departure to secure a seat on the top deck.Written October 6, 2024
- AADSWJ0 contributionsWorth itPretty good. Extra €5 if one wants to go to Gozo. Otherwise swimming Blue lagoon all day. Busy route and a full boat! Popular choice.Written October 5, 2024
- _sarahom20110 contributionsAmazing dayAmazing well worth doing when coming to Malta. The boat is lovely and an ideal size not to big and not to small. The day is planned out for you so you can relax and take it all in and well worth the moneyWritten October 4, 2024
- andrewnJ4975OY0 contributionsLovely boat rideSwimming in the lagoon’s clear water and the speed boat ride to caves - booked separately- alone are worth the price of admission. Excellent service too.Written October 3, 2024
- D1BCC0 contributionsGozo cruiseNice blend of cruising on the boat and things to see. Got there early to secure a deck-chair on the top and started the day well. The additional trips such as the speedboat (to see the caves) and the on-Gozo bus were excellent. The speedboat is incredible fun but is not a gentle ride, so if you’re faint-hearted, it may be worth thinking twice. You are likely to get wet or very wet. No guides provided on this trip but probably not needed (unlike the trip around Malta).Written October 2, 2024
- iwantdecentfood0 contributionsA wonderful experience from a great crewBreathtaking views and scenery galore! A relaxing day from start to finish. No pressure to be upsold although shuttle buses in Gozo and speedboat rides to the caves were offered. Sensibly priced drinks plus snacks. Lots of space and time to do everything you wanted. Men’s toilet was smelly but didn’t spoil the experienceWritten October 2, 2024
- 882denisak0 contributionsThe best experienceOur day on this cruise was amazing. So much fun and beautiful views. Swimming in the Blue lagoon was perfect. The itinerary was well combined. As someone already said, the boat is not the newest, but it was all worth the money. Thank you for really beautiful day.Written October 1, 2024

- alex_mihai_gurau0 contributionsAn amazing overall experienceWe enjoyed the trip. Simply put - the highlight of our stay in the north part of the island. If we went back, we would just stay in the Blue Lagoon. Beautiful colored water there and having the slide, from the boat, was a dream! Don't worry, if you can't swim, they give you life vests. Also, loved the speed boat ride, kind of worth it's price. One can find drinks and food on the boat, but if you are a vegan, then, slim chances for you. Great music, the captain's playlist was amazing and also, thank you for giving us info about the places we went through. All instructions were clear given and easy to follow. All tips are there for you. Want to stay on a sunbed, then be ahead of the check in time. Enjoyable experience that we both recommend and, as the skipper thought us to say in Maltese - Sahha! (hope I've spelled correctly).Written September 28, 2024
- mattcR3227SK0 contributionsGreat boat trip shame about the mini bus not-tourIt was a long weekend away and we decided to take a boat trip to Gozo and chose this based upon the previous reviews. The staff were great, helpful and polite, the boat had everything we needed, seats, food, drink and toilets. We had a great time at the blue lagoon, and then went on to Gozo. This is where it fell down. The "Bus tour" as it is described, isn't what we expected, it's more of a transfer to different points on the island and fend for yourself. The mini-bus driver was abrupt, spoke very little English and basically drove at top speed to drop us at various places and left us to our own devices. When he returned to pick us up at Victoria, he was late and even more agitated than before. Anyway, overall, the positives outweighed the negatives and I would recommend the boat trip, it was good to be able to explore Victoria, but would have been nice to have some recommendations from the driver and some narrative/history, or better still, improve the description so people know what to expect. Thanks for a good day.Written September 25, 2024
- alexander11060 contributionsFull day trip - worth itGood value for money trip. Very Clear instructions and they kept to time. Speedboat defo worth it as was The trip into Victoria on Gozo. The top deck of the boat smelt of sweaty feet so can i suggest maybe replacing the artificial grass, there was space to sit on it but it didn’t smell good. Overall would recommend though.Written September 23, 2024
- Mary R0 contributionsMust doPunctual & well organised from start to finish. Very good value & a great way to see Gozo. Bus in Gozo air conditioned, Boat trip brought us up to mouth of caves. Great photo opportunity. Lots of info from Kevin our captain re islands. Great music.. overall good vibe.would recommend for day out especially if you like swimming & water as you can use water slide from boat into Blue Lagoon. Teens & kids would love it.Written September 22, 2024
- OnAir388640317340 contributionsGreat time! Solo traveller friendly!I had a great time! I would highly recommend the speed boat trip (if you’re not afraid of water cuz it’s quite an adrenaline rush), and the minibus on gozo just because it’s really convenient. Everyone on board is super nice and accommodating. The vibe is great. A very solo trip friendly option too!Written September 22, 2024
- chloet1360 contributionsNot the prettiest boat, was a bit crowded.Best part is the stop at the blue lagoon as you get there early enough before it gets too busy. Would be better to do with a smaller crowd as it took ages getting off and on the boat with so many people. The boat gets overpacked and the boat isn’t the cleanest or the prettiest. Nowhere to sunbathe. It’s worth doing the speed boat. Odd vibe, it’s not clear if it’s a party boat or a tour boat. Music was great! Price wasn’t bad at first but after getting all the add ons you could probably get a better boat ride else where.Written September 19, 2024
- tatianagT6785WU0 contributionsComino, Blue Lagoon, GozoTook many great pictures, caves, lagoons are amazing. Recommend the boat tour to caves 100%, mind it will be a speed boat tour.Written September 17, 2024

We were looking forward to a nice relaxing day on the boat and have done similar experiences in Croatia and Greece. This company oversells they boat and squishes everyone on. You have to get there 2 hours early to guarantee a spot on the top deck, and even then people are fighting over every inch of space. Then the workers came around telling us to push closer together! Not a relaxing or enjoyable experience at all. The best part was getting off at Comino and sitting on the sand with space, comfort and sun. We should have just taken a ferry. This was in NOVEMBER so I cannot imagine in peak time.

Dear reviewer,
We are sorry to hear you had a bad experience. However we believe you have posted the review mistakenly on our page as if you read any of the other reviews, our advantage to other boat tours is that we do not overcrowd the boat. We do not crowd the boat throughout peak season let alone during November - end of season.
In November, we were departing at 10am. Boarding opened at 9am and closed at 9.45am so when you say you have to come 2 hours prior it doesn't make sense as boarding in total takes 45 minutes.
We would appreciate if you can double check the name of the boat you went on as there are a lot of different boat companies going to Comino one boat in particular looks a lot like the Hornblower. We are the one with the astro-turf upper deck with free deck chairs.
We appreciate if you can direct your review to the correct company.
We hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday in Malta.
Kind regards,
Katherine

This is an amazing package and well worth it. This was my second time using this ship and it was even more fun the second time! The Captain was amazing to me and my friends and very accommodating. I recommend fully and better for groups as you can all lay together on the roof top

Efficiently run, the boat layout is good, especially the sun deck upstairs and the slide. The optional speedboat trip offered is good value for money at €10 p.p. We liked the fact that we were able to spend time on the boat when it was moored in the Blue Lagoon, rather than having to spend the afternoon at the nearby small and crowded beach. The commentary was interesting and the crew professional and friendly. We ordered food and drinks on board, which was nice and fairly priced, especially as the passengers are a captive audience. The only negative point were that there were a lot of passengers on board and it felt quite overcrowded, making it almost impossible to observe social distancing. The boat itself looks a little tired and some of the furnishings could do with replacing. However, we had a lovely day and would take this trip again as the destination was very pretty and the excursion was well organised.

This cruise by Supreme Cruises was sold to us as a “Cruise in style and comfort on board a luxurious boat. “ The sunset cruise goes onto describe it as “Comino will be less crowded and you will enjoy ample space and time for swimming and snorkelling. “ Nothing could be further from the truth.
The boat was a bog standard small ferry hardly luxurious. However it was clean and the crossing was smooth.
The ferry docked a little way away from the beach. There were no steps and we had to climb up the cliff over sharp and hazardous rocks and follow an unmade path to a dusty road. Along this road was a dilapidated toilet block and various trailers selling dubious looking food, drinks and pineapples. Each pumping out loud music suitable for the clubs in Ibiza. We past several bins full of wasps, relishing the discarded pineapples and there was a background smell of vomit.
As for the blue lagoon, it was rammed with people umbrellas and sun beds were crammed into every available space. The beach was about 4m by 3m which was covered with umbrellas and sun beds. Hardly ample space. The bins on the dock were overflowing with pineapples and were a haven for wasps. The sea was blue mixed with discarded plastic cups and pineapples.
This area has been over commercialised and destroyed. It is totally unsuitable for older people or people who would find it difficult to climb up and down a cliff, it would also be unsuitable for families with young kids.
So in summary, don’t go if you are unable to climb cliffs, if you have young children, scared of wasps, don’t like the smell of vomit and don’t like loud Ibiza music.

We are very sad to hear you did not enjoy your experience in Comino.

The weather didn’t allow us to anchor and swim in the blue lagoon but this was a blessing in disguise as it meant we had to anchor and spend the day at the Crystal Lagoon which is very close and more scenic in my opinion.
The staff and crew were very attentive and friendly throughout the cruise; I was pleasantly surprised at the prices of the food and drink. We brought some of our own in case but it wasn’t needed. Please bring cash as the minimum spend on card is €10.00.
You can rent snorkels and life vests for swimming if needed.
All in all a fantastic experience and our best day so far on our trip to Malta.

The crew on the Hornblower made us feel welcomed from the minute we arrived.
We arrived an hour early and there was a queue for sunbeds on the top deck. Thankfully we were able to get a space.
The speed boat trip for an extra €15 was amazing, the speedboat driver was knowledgeable and so much fun.
The rest of the trip was spent at the blue lagoon, where we were free to jump of the boat, use the slide or walk ashore.
The blue lagoon was packed and we didn’t spend long on the island.
Highly recommend to bring or buy a snorkel, the crystal clear waters make for some lovely swimming.
They had an on board cafe, which was really reasonably priced, the highlight being pina colada inside a pineapple.
Overall we had a brilliant day, and from looking at the other boat trip operators I can safely say that hornblower was the best!

This is such a good company to choose when so many are out there to deliberate between. It's not too crowded, smoking is only allowed at the back of the boat, the food on board is tasty and well priced and the slide is fun! We did tour A meaning half the boat got off in Gozo so we had even more space including deck chairs on the top deck. There are shady spots in the middle and the staff are so helpful telling you when we're approaching a big photo opportunity saying to go up front for it, then on hand to take photos of you both. I looked at other cruises which were overly busy at these times and smoking was allowed in seating areas on them which I wouldn't have liked. Lockers are available for 5 euro deposit and clean toilets. Everyone gets a sanitiser spray when they arrive. We bought the extra speedboat trip for a bit of fun and went right into the caves, although even the Hornblower gets close. We got to the blue lagoon nearly first so had unspoilt views and lots of swimming space. Choose Hornblower for a great day out!

The Hornblower Cruise to Comino & The Blue Lagoon was incredible and the highlight of our week.
When booking it's important to check the times you can start boarding the boat. The boat itself leaves at 10am but if you aren't there early enough then the top deck with the sun loungers are taken early. We got there just after 9am and got the last 2 loungers. There are a small number of lockers on board to store your stuff too for a €5 deposit, they are on the small side and probably wouldn't take a bag.
The food on the boat was cooked to order and was very reasonably priced, as were the drinks. We had a burger and some chicken nuggets, both were excellent. Note, they take CASH on board and only card if you spend more than €10.
Kevin the Captain was very informative, pointing out different things along the way with little bits of history and encouraging everyone to take photos.
When you get to Blue Lagoon, the boat docks for a couple of hours, you can jump off the boat into the sea or go down the slide. You also have an option to walk off the boat and explore the island of Comino. The area we docked was very busy with food and drinks vans. Kevin did warn everyone about this and suggested the best way to enjoy the experience was to use the boat as a base and utilise the top deck loungers. We did this and we loved our time at Blue Lagoon.
The boat leaves Comino for approx 30mins to take some guests over to Gozo (they paid extra). You can stay on the boat during this time or stay on Comino to explore. When it returned it docked in the same place for a few more hours allowing some more time for swimming or relaxing. At around 3:30pm everyone on Comino had to be back on the boat before we returned to Gozo to collect the guests dropped off earlier before heading back to where the day began.
Make sure you take swimming clothes, a towel, sunglasses and plenty of sun cream.
We left at 10am and got back just about 5pm, for €25 per person we couldn't fault this trip, it's well worth it.

We had a beautiful day onboard the Hornblower last week. From the moment we stepped on board we were welcomed by Catherine who set the vibe of the boat with her welcome smiles and bubbly energy. We were the only family onboard that day but everyone was kind and interested in our children, aged 7yr and 9yr. We opted to remain at the Blue Lagoon for the day (as opposed to the trip to Gozo) an option I don’t regret as the kids spent the entirety in the water scuba diving, jumping off the boat and using the huge slide. The kids were in paradise. The boat moors at a secluded corner of the lagoon, which we felt was the best spot in the area. We had plenty of coral to snorkel around, rocks to climb on and deep water to jump into away from the crowds.
We opted for the salads at lunch, which were nicely priced and a perfectly sized healthy option.
There are deckchair options on the top deck for those who enjoy sunbathing, not that we had time to use them as our kids were so fascinated by the lagoon.
Thank you to all the team onboard the hornblower, particularly Catherine and the gentlemen who worked the bar/resto.
Kindest regards
Charlie

Just home from a great trip with the Hornblower team. From the time we set foot on the vessel till the time we left, they handled the Covid19 situation brilliant. Hand gel, 2 meter separation, reduced numbers on vessel.
Just because we felt safe did not mean we did not enjoy ourselves, from jumping off the boat in blue lagoon, the brilliant commentary from our captain ( big shout out for his play list which was from an older genre), his lovely wife and father who could not do enough. The food is excellent and really well priced. Drink prices where great too.
I choose these from the reviews and I am glad we did.
