      Extremely disappointing
This tour was so disappointing. On the first bus the driver was quite rude to people and the commentary was non-existent- it didn’t even say when there were stops. There was just inane music playing and occasionally the recorded woman said something but it was often ages after the point of interest. There was so much history and information missed out. Don’t know if the driver forgot to press play or there is no commentary for most of the trip. Some people were saying their earphones didn’t work. They didn’t miss anything! The buses only run hourly and only from 10:00-16:00 which is not enough and limits how many times you can get off to once or twice. we picked up the second to last bus back to Sliema from Blue grotto and people were left behind - the bus we were on was packed standing on stairs and in aisle & obviously no commentary - for €25 pp this feels unacceptable Staff at pick up point in Qawra were frankly rude. However the person at silema who organised the return to Qawra was very helpful but we had to wait over 30mins over stated pick up time

      Don’t bother
What a waste of money. Change of buses at certain points not explained. Shambles all the way. What is the point of jumping off have 20 mins somewhere then back on. Impossible to see everything ‘ not worth it if you just want to spend time at o e place. Just get a normal bus to where you want to go for €5. Best thing to do is Downoad the Bolt app and just get taxi pick up from where you are stood or bar etc & go to where you want .St Julian’s to Valetta only €8 in a t I for up to 5 people. What a wasted day on this bus

Good way to see the island otherwise awful experience
Great way to see the island, and that is about it. Total chaos, not enough buses for the number of customers. Took 3 buses and audio didn’t work. Drivers seem to be overwhelmed. Wouldn’t recommend as it was a disastrous 7 hours.

      A fiasco
What a fiasco. So chaotic. A real lack of staff knowing what they are doing. Lots of shouting down mobile phones by staff. Let's hope their is dome improvement

      Disappointing bus trip
There were too many customers and not enough buses. The audio commentary did not work, so we didn't find out very much. People who got off had trouble getting another bus later.

      Shockingly Bad
Hopelessly disorganized. At the St Elmos Fort bus stop we paid and were told the bus would arrive in 15 mins. After 45 mins it had still not arrived. A minibus then took us to the Ferry Pier to catch "our" bus and we were told it would arrive in 10 mins. It did, but did not stop. A bunch of potential passengers chased it up the street shouting at it to stop. It didn't. About 40 mins later another bus turned up which we got on. Realizing the company is very unreliable, and not wanting to be left stranded on the other side of the island, we remained on the bus for the entire tour. No hop on, hop off. Avoid.

      TERRIBLE and STRANDED
Stay away from this company!!! When you are at the pier they will try to sell you tickets and tell you they work with the City Sightseeing company. They left us stranded !! We were trying to buy tickets to the other bus line and they took our money saying they both work together, we could take either bus. NOT TRUE. we got off at the first stop and didn't know that was the last bus. We were waiting for over an hour and were almost late to board our ship. We had to take a taxi back to port. I contacted the operators and they won't do anything for us. They took our $75 euros and switched our tickets. Stay away from these people they are so dishonest

Don’t run ahead of schedule when there is another hour to wait for the next
Don’t print schedules and then arrive 10-15 minutes early so that we have to wait another hour in the hot sun We were at the golden bay stop at 12:53 waiting for the 1pm as printed on the map schedule and it had obviously gone through earlier

      Audio Silence
Weren’t given the ear phones when getting on the bus, or advised where they were. Went and asked the driver for them but unfortunately none of the audio equipment on our side of the bus worked. Also couldn’t understand what the driver was saying on his audio. It poured with rain at one point, so everyone came downstairs. Obviously there is no accounting for the weather but the rain did start pouring through the ceiling. The buses therefore need some maintenance! Overall as a hop on, hop off experience, one every hour isn’t that flexible.

      Awful
As we were staying in Mellieah, off the HoHo route we had to get a pick up to the first point. Driver had no earphones for the audio. Traffic during the day was awful, we only had time for one stop off at Mosta church. 40 mins late picking us back up. After Mdina the bus went to Valletta, not back to our pick point in Bugibba as per the schedule. The unhelpful guide said to get another bus and go round for another two hours; that meant we’d be too late for our pick up back to Mellieah and we’d already been on the bus over five hours by now. We ended up catching a local bus from Valletta. Having done HoHo in Edinburgh, London, New York, Barcelona, Budapest, many others; this was by far the worst.

Poor service, overcrowding and non existent buses.
We already had valid Malta / Gozo bus cards but felt using the Green bus would remove having to plan a days schedule in advance. The Gozo green bus from the start at the ferry terminal -1st stop was overcrowded . Standing room only. Passengers who complained were told they could get the next scheduled bus in 45 minutes time despite there being an empty bus and driver next to ours. We " hopped off" at Ggantija, stayed there for over an hour and then stood out the front at the previous drop off point 15 minutes before the next pick up time - with 6/8 other people. We all waited, able to se the road in both directions. No bus came. When the bus was 15 minutes late the others slowly gave up and ordered taxis and went. We ended up waiting for over an hour for the next bus. Non existent buses was a common theme in the conversations amongst passengers getting back on the bus at various stops. The bus quickly became overcrowded again. We gave up the idea of visiting anywhere else, stayed on until Rabat, and limited ourselves to seeing the citadel.

Poor service , late , lack of communication, lot of Malta not worth seeing
Two main problems here , several companies operate , all buses look the same , so it’s difficult for tourist to get on correct bus . Secondly buses aren’t punctual so if you’re on a tight schedule (ie cruise ship passengers) you need to leave a buffer of at least an hour for return journey. We took blue (north tour) , fairly uninspiring EXCEPT the MDINA which was fabulous. Section round St Paul’s bay was dirty , literally a building site .Valletta was lovely , didn’t do red (south tour) so can’t comment on that. Our experience was our bus was 40 mins late , had to find another way back to boat as time was critical. Ticket staff were unhelpful once had your money Driver drove poorly

      Total wate of money
Do not waste your money on this. It was overfull and couldnt cope with the tourists. It only runs once an hour, which means, even if it were on time, which it generally isn't, you cant use it as a normal Hop on/off. When we went on it, there were no headphones given. The bus races around on main roads, where you dont have any opportunity to see the island. When you do eventually get to somewhere you want to visit, you have at least another hour to wait until another (full) bus turns up. Use the local buses, which cost 2,50 per journey and you can go where you want, when you want.

      Worst HoHo Bus tour
When we got off our cruise ship we were bomb barded with guys selling Hoho bus trips. We were told there were 3 lines and you could swap from one to the other. We purchased a ticket for E20pp. There were 3 ships in port that day and we had to fight our way, half on the road and half on the footpath, uphill for about 1/2 km to get in the bus queue and hopped on the first one we could. There was no cover on the upper deck and the temperature was 34 degrees. Halfway around and in the middle of nowhere we were told we had to get off and wait 30mins for another bus . We managed to get on the yellow route which took us back to the beginning and we did get to see the coast which is where our blue line was going. There was virtually no commentary, no maps and if there was commentary it didn’t work. We usually use the Hoho busses in new places but this was by far the worst we have experienced. We ended up getting a taxi to take us around the coast in the afternoon.

We booked online and were given free travel from our hotel to Sliema on an open top bus, so we got a good view of the island for an hour before getting the boat, they offer cold drinks, but you will pay for them. The taped commentary is fantastic and very clear in English. The tour takes about 90 minutes but really does give great views of the architecture and size of the harbours.

With the number of Covid-19 cases on Malta on the rise again, it's absolutely irresponsible that there are NO safety measures at all on the harbour cruise boats.

People were crowded on the sun deck, more people than seats, squeezing body against body. No masks, no sanitizing liquids! Many people drinking alcohol, pushing others and singing loudly.

While buses and ferries in malta are handling the crisis in a very responsible way, these boats are likely to be the new superspreaders of the virus.

Paid in advance and had a reservation. Was picked up with the bus and dropped off at 10 AM on the other side of the city at the harbour. Here I was denied to enter the tour as it was full despite having my reservation and was said to come back at 12:15 (more than 2 hours later). Since I had more plans for that day I didn't feel like waiting more than 2 hours outside of the old city centre. Would not recommend as I was not kept up to date about any of this but just got brutally rejected on the spot. Oh, and I don't have my money back as well.

Did this last minute on our last evening in Malta. Highly recommend as it was a brilliant way to see many parts of the island you would have missed otherwise. The tour guide was funny and we got a great insight into the history of the harbour as well. Drinks were also offered on board. We went at sunset and it was a great time to see everything.

Great little trip (90 mins) around the harbours. Great views from the water of some of the main historical locations.
Knowledgeable guide (partly recorded information, partly the boats Captain. A good mix)
If its cloudy it can get a bit chilly. If the sun's out you can feel the heat (my trip had a mix :) )
Might be worth taking a light coat just in case.
    5/5 enjoyed it

We enjoyed the harbor cruise and found it an amazing way to see the various harbors and cities from the vantage point of the sea. The audio description was informative and we were able to see landmarks that otherwise we would never see. The cruise was well staffed and timely. Tip:. We were in Valletta that day and we did not know we would need to take a quick ferry over to Sliema in order to catch this harbor cruise. But we found out in plenty of time and enjoyed walking around Sliema prior to the cruise.

We took this cruise at the end of hour holiday having seen most of the area from land. We were unable to sit on top as it was deemed to be a bit choppy. The captain was rather brusque and the 90 minute trip was actually about 75. Commentary is in English. The loud music blaring out in between was unnessecary

This review is about the traditional wooden boat, one of which is called Ben. I suspect that many of the more negative reviews under concern the big RED modern characterless catamaran boats which go under a similar name. Having done both trips this weeks there is no comparison. One is an impersonal experience and the other , on the wooden multi coloured boat, is just so good in comparison. I had a history question I wanted answered, I went to the wheelhouse, and asked, the Skipper said OK when we get to the place where it happened I'll tell you and show you ( HMS Illustrious WW2)..... and he did. This boat being smaller can go to places the others don't, you can sit in the open by the bows , its a true traditional harbour trip. Refreshments available, Shelter available. Forgot to mention the friendly lady at Sliema ferry stage who sold me the ticket, she was very helpful. Altogether a much more personal experience than on the far more commercial red boats where you can't even get near the wheelhouse.

Very relaxing trip allowing to take a look at Valetta from the sea. The whole trip doesn't take more than 90 minutes. Beautiful views, interesting story, not hot at all, perfect choice for a small day trip.

We had enjoyed the sites we got to see during this boat trip. However sea outside of the cities can be very rough and not ideal for this kind of old style wooden boat. Few times during the tour I thought that it is the end and there is no way how that boat can handle next wave.
