About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Camper321939515750 contributionsIf you want to lose patience, time and money - I can recommend it.First bus was 3 minutes early so we didnt manage to reach it. Second is already 45minutes late and we're still not aboard. If you want to lose patience, money and time I surely can recommend it.Written October 6, 2024
- janpat0570 contributionsStay clear of hop on hop off sightseeing buses!Keep clear of "sightseeing" buses absolutely terrible! We got on the bus at Spinola bay for the North route ( blue line) no room on top deck, really hot day. 10 minutes or so into the journey the bus stopped, the driver got off and had conversations with other staff on the roadside leaving the passengers cooking inside the bus! An older man asked if he could open a window at the back, he was told "no! " finally we set off again only to pullover again when a man got on the bus ( no uniform) and shouted at a passenger to sit on a seat ( there were no seats) he didn't apologise, he then told 2 young women to "wait"right in their faces as they were getting off. He was rude and intimidating, he then told us all to show him our tickets. Finally we got to Mdina ( which was lovely! ) but the bus journey isn't a sightseeing tour as you'd think, headphones didn't work, no-one to point out the sights. The local buses are soooo much better and cheaper too! It cost us 56 euros for that tour, it would have been € 10 on the local buses and the drivers more helpful. Like other reviews have said, once they have your money they couldn't care less!Written September 28, 2024
- jasmined5290 contributionsUse another hop on/off bus option in MaltaThis is the worst hop on/ hop off bus option to select in Malta. It does not run as often as the others (the others come about every 30 minutes) and it does not run as late as other hop on / hop off busses. I'm unsure how much the other busses cost, but it's worth it to use another bus option. This was the worst and other busses passed us while we were waiting for this bus company. Also, it feels like this company caters to people on cruises which is frustrating because you end up waiting for a long time near the cruise ship dock.Written September 5, 2024
- NYC_D120 contributionsAvoid city sightseeing hop on hop offI am really unhappy with the tickets we purchased from the cruise terminal in Malta. We felt both lied to and deceived. We were told by the saleswoman in the terminal that the buses run all day and that we could easily take the yellow line to see the Mdina and the red line to see the blue grotto, all in this would be 3 hours. When we got on the bus we were held there for at least 20 minutes as the salesman wouldn't let the bus leave as it was easy to see he was receiving commission for every ticket sold. This was particularly clear when he got mad and started yelling at patrons bc the walked of the bus due to it being overcrowded. Sadly we found out too late as we were lucky enough to catch the 4ish pm yellow bus at Mdina. Little did we know this was the last bus and we would have been stranded had we missed this bus. It was on this bus that we inquired about catching the red line at the port, only to be told the buses are done for the day and 4pm is the last bus. How deceiving are the sales people who lie and omit important information just to make a sale. Ive been on hop on hop off in Barcelona, Madrid, London and Rome, these buses ran well into the evening giving you options to see many different sights. I would never advise anyone to use this service in Malta, hour a personal taxi for the same price for a family of 4 and you will get to see the sights that you are interested in....Written August 28, 2024
- F1626GPlisal0 contributionsDo not use Hop on Hop Off - Never Again! An absolute nightmare. The staff are very unhelpful. Where we pick up the bus, Malta Sightseeing also have a stop and rep there. When we got there we asked if this was the correct place which is was. The City Sightseeing Rep left his post to get food and drinks for himself and the Malta Sightseeing Rep at which point a bus turned up. We went to get on and the Malta Sightseeing Rep said is was not ours. Turns out it was! When the next bus came we were told our tickets were not valid but were for the other bus we were told was not ours. The City Sightseeing Rep came back he said that the bus had been and gone. We explained that we were told but the other rep it was not for us and he just shrugged his shoulders. Basically couldn't care less. We killed some time and got the later one but lost a lot of time out of our day. This was for the South route and we went to Marsalokk (lovely place). The following day (we had a 3-day pass purchased before we went through "I See Malta") we went to get the North route bus as we wanted to go to the Aviation Museum and Aquarium. The bus did not stop for the Aviation Museum so when we arrived at Ta'Qali Crafts Village, I asked the driver and he said the road was closed so could not get down there. No one advised us of this. Again, the Rep at our stop did not mention anything. We stayed on for the Aquarium but were told to get off at Mdina and wait for another bus as he was changing to the Yellow Route (whatever that was!). No advice given on how long to wait for the next bus. No safe place to wait. We ended up paying 20 Euro to get a taxi to the Aquarium. Aquarium great. Due to the issues with the buses, after the Aquarium, we got a taxi back to our hotel with then cost 35 Euro. So 55 Euro out of pocket plus tips. Advise to use Public Transport (bus service is good) and/or download Bolt/Uber apps. Normal taxis are very expensive. Stay away from Hop on, Hop off as the staff really do not care and have a bad attitude.Written August 26, 2024
- gigi1012040 contributionsPoor quality audio commentaryPoor commentary, no guidance or interaction as no staff. Driver was good a driving. I have used this company in many other cities around Europe and this is by far the worstWritten August 24, 2024
- Cathy N0 contributionsAbandoned in MdinaWe tried to do the Noth route and planned stops at the temples and the aquarium. I booked and paid online. We joined the tour after 9am on Sliema sea front and all went well for over an hour. Commentary was fine, no hassle. The bus suddenly stopped in Mdina and the driver said he was going back to Valletta. We were all dumped at the side of the road and told to wait on the next bus in the heat. We asked how long that would be, and the driver said not long. We waited 45 minutes but the heat was a killer and there was no sign of another bus. We sorted ourselves out with a tour round Mdina, an Uber to the Aquarium and then an Uber back to our hotel. We had a good enough day but we never should have had to Uber it. We never seen another bus on that route the whole time we were on it. We had paid for a tour and it didn't happen to the extent it should have. We are self sufficient enough to move on and sort ourselves out, but others were not plus we didn't actually get what we paid for. Bring chucked off the bus and just told to wait with no bus for 45 minutes and no knowledge of when the next one is coming is not ok.Written August 22, 2024
- Daineo0 contributionsUse Bolt, not jolt from hellThe routes are far too long with very few places worth stopping at. Red route - fishing village was average at best. Caves were beautiful, however you’ll have to pay an extra €10 per person to take a small boat to them, no swimming possible. Blue Route - Madeira was amazing and well worth the visit, but don’t do it with a tour!!! Best option is using bolt. For example, €12.70 from St Julian’s Bay to Madera for 4 passengers, and took 15mins. Compared to over €60 and over an hr to go on tour. On blue route be prepared for a mass boarding at Valetta where the day cruise passengers board. If you absolutely must go on one of these terrible tours (busy beyond comprehension with only 1 bus an hr) take the red route for better scenery. AVOID…use bolt and stay clear of the rip off local taxis who wanted to charge over €50 for same €12.70 trip…and the locals driving is absolutely terrifying (running red lights, sitting in two lanes, just don’t care!).Written August 18, 2024
- AntPiercey0 contributionsAvoid. Poor communication, didn't provide full service listed and returned to Valetta after Mdina without explanation.Paid for a North travel tour for two - 60 Euros. No info as to when the busses run from any stops - no timetables apart from when the first one goes from its first stop miles away from anyone in a main city. Get onto a bus eventually and get to a terminus of sorts. Only through other people asking did we find out that we were on the South bus, no one from the bus driver or any representative told us anything until other people started asking questions as to which bus to use etc. If we hadn't done anything we would have been on there wrong bus altogether. We eventually found the right bus for the North journey (a one way trip around the northern section, note one way for later). We travelled along listening to the info about sights we could see, although we were either on the wrong road, at the wrong place or that the info is out of date as new buildings looked to have been built in front of the older views that the audio was describing, so pointless. Got to Mdina where we stopped to look about, told to be back for the next bus in an hour to carry on the journey. So off we got, looked about and returned in an hour. A bus turns up around the right time, so we get to the driver who was dealing with many people all trying to get on to ask is this the right bus for Blue North (the ticket we had bought) to which he hastily said yeah yeah just get on... he was a tad flustered with people trying to get on. We travel a fair distance to when I notice us heading back to Valetta. Now this is a one way journey around Malta. No where does it state about a return from Mdina. However once the bus finally stops in the centre of Valetta I was told that it was the Yellow line (which according to their website doesnt even go to Mdina). This was now 4 or so hours into the day and we are back at Valetta having seen Mdina and nothing else. I could get back on another bus but id have to wait 45 mins, then travel the 90 mins or so to Mina to carry on the rest of my journey meaning without getting off we would be getting back home by 7pm. This means no getting off so the point of a hop on/off bus is null & void. All staff members at the Valetta terminus couldn't care less about the situation, and the driver flat out refused t take any issue with the fact he told us wrong info. Complaining to the company comes back with you used the ticket so were not compensating you even though we didn't give the full service. Avoid at all costs. Poor service, Poor instructions, confusing set up and terrible audio guides mean you would be better off getting a different company or just a local bus around the locations (2.50 Euro for two hours travel opposed to 30 euro for this lot).Written August 1, 2024
- Trail8223220 contributionsWe would recommend the North and south routes, the harbour cruise was particularly goodMy husband and I did both routes and the harbour cruise. We found it good value for money. The buses were nearly all on time and the drivers friendly. We picked out two or three places to stop on each route and thoroughly enjoyed it. The only negative, we found was the sun strong on the top deck and very hot downstairs too. But it is July!!!Written July 14, 2024
- colinsK4658BT0 contributionsTerrible service and structureTerrible organisation, no staff at key points and if you believe that they run buses every 30 minutes then you will also believe in the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny. I strongly recommend going with the local Malta Sightseeing company as they had many more buses and staff while we were fighting to get on this bus. Very disappointing.Written July 4, 2024
- Angiir0 contributionsThese buses need a damn good scrub & a vat of disinfectant- but the driver was lovely.Well it’s one way to see the island fully doing both routes BUT - no aircon downstairs - it was SO hot - & I think the bus 2as last cleaned in the 1990’s 😳 I still haven’t been able to scrub the dirt marks out of my clothes. To say it was grime-laden does not do it justice - blechhhh. The driver was a sweetheart though & regardless of the schmootz, we saw a lot.Written June 29, 2024
- prpn0 contributionsDon’t recommendCrowded buses, no one supervising people pushing on or queue jumping. Commentary practically nonexistent or at best trivial and with no real information given - little educative benefit. Earbuds difficult to wear hard plastic. The roots are too long, the north route took nearly 4 hours due to the summer traffic. Sitting on top of a hot bus going nowhere was unpleasant. Some of the Commentary was repeated on both north and South island tours. Boat tour conducted in German and English so a bus tour of people who spoke neither of these languages, continued to have loud discussions throughout our commentary making it impossible to hear the information. The commentary was difficult to understand. Have done many of this companies tours in different cities but this one in Malta did not take any boxes for us.Written June 28, 2024
- susanfC2259BF0 contributionsDisappointedLong waits between buses, not many places to hop off, missed a lot of what we were seeing because the narration was either nonexistent or difficult to understand.Written June 24, 2024
- Jackie-sb-180 contributionsShocking - Do not use!If I could rate this 0 I would. What a terrible experience. Buses don’t run on time and when they arrive they are overcrowded - this does not stop them allowing more people to board and stand in a very confined space which could be fatal if there was an accident. Audio does not work - quite dangerous when approaching a low bridge! DO NOT use this service it is shocking - much better (and cheaper) to use public services or even taxis.Written June 16, 2024

We were left standing at a bus stop ahead of the scheduled time and the bus just drove on by. Total rip off.
Paid $40 for the two of us. Buses were dirty and hot, no a/c. Got off at the aquarium where the schedule is every hour. On 26 July we were at the stop at 315pm for the 320pm scheduled stop. Bus drove by at 318pm despite us waving frantically. Took a cab back to the cruise dock for $25.

Probably the worst trip you will ever take and apparently it’s better than the green bus!
On this journey around Gozo the driver treated us to a packed bus with people standing/ falling into each other. His energetic phone calls which although I can’t speak the local language I can say probably were not going well. He also managed to take two car wing mirrors out and scrape the wall twice.
Dont worry for your fee you will be given a set of headphones to drown out the screams of your fellow passengers as they hurtle to what we all presume is certain death (the fact we didn’t die is probably why Catholicism thrives on the island, I personally felt closer to god than ever before) it is a shame the audio tour lasts ten minutes whilst the journey lasts hours.
Trying to take in the sights is a joke and if you are silly enough to get off the bus expect multiple waits for one that has enough room for you.
I paid 40 euros for two adults and two kids. You will be told it costs a lot more but so desperate are they to quicken you to your maker that a bargain can be struck.
My sensible and much ignored advice by my wife is to avoid such tourist hellish punishments and get a bolt from the ferry to where you want to go. Malta and Gozo have lots of bolts (like Uber) and you will travel in relative ease to the place you want to go.
If you choose to ignore the above then clearly you are a thrill seeker and I have a business idea you might like, sky diving into a volcano… let’s talk.

We travelled with the Green bus company but were told by a member of staff from the red bus that there was no difference and as there was a 30 minute wait for the red one, we should just get on the green one.
Said member of staff from the red bus company was rude and very unhelpful. So the start of our Gozo sight seeing was annoying!
Now to the actual service. If you do “hop off” there’s at least 45 minutes to wait before you’ll have a chance to “hop on” again meaning that you have to choose your stops carefully.
The Bastion in Victoria is well worth visiting and needs time spent there. I suggest a couple of hours.
Worst aspect of that day was that we decided to stop at Xewkija rotunda on the way back to the port but were robbed of the chance! Reasons being a. The bus became very crowded at Victoria stop 1 with many people standing, b. For reasons only known to him, the driver did not stop at Xewkija and drove very quickly back to the port. One is us complained to the woman who was the co driver who said sorry but in such a manner that clearly she didn’t care. I spoke to the driver who said he didn’t stop because the church was shut all day. This was a complete lie!
We subsequently found Joey the taxi driver who took us back there at a decent rate. It was actually open well into the evening.
So all in all, rude, careless even lying staff, terrible timings, audio which didn’t work in every seat and the fact that the last bus leaves the port as early as 3pm leads to my advice -don’t do it! Use the taxi drivers like Joey or local buses and save money.

The worst experience of my life. They don't deserve 1 star. We bought this tour when leaving our cruise. We paid 20 EUR per person. The organization was non-existent, there was no reference point where you could catch the bus, nor the route schedules. After 40 minutes waiting in the sun for the blue line, we managed to get on and halfway there it turned into the yellow line, so we had to get off the bus and wait 20 more minutes for another bus, which did the same at a certain point of the road. Also, the buses do NOT have air conditioning in the middle of summer - that day it was over 30 degrees with humidity and a lot of sun. The top of the bus is unroofed with the harsh sun, they didn't even deign to put the roof up to cover it from the sun. Keep in mind that one of the tours is approximately 3.5 hours (made longer by city traffic) without air conditioning. They do not take into account how dangerous these conditions are. In addition, the bus seats are overbooked and people have to sit on the internal stairs or stand. In conclusion, one of the worst experiences. Infamous. They should be ashamed to charge 20 EUR for this service.

We use the company in any city we visit and we have visited a lot. Normally its fantastic well run and reliable, the people who run the Malta one most definitely need training. We left early yesterday to catch the 9.13 from the aquarium in buggiba, waited till 9.50 with no sign of it. Decided to get the local bus to Valetta and pick city sightseeing up there, had a wander round Valletta and headed back to the stop, yet again we had a long wait before one turned up. The driver was most unpleasant and not at all helpful, we asked for a route map but there were none on the bus. The second driver was more pleasant but his driving left a lot to behold, I was surprised he didn't run into the back of someone.
Might be an idea to put signs at pick up points as there was nothing to identify them.
Extremely disappointed with this trip.

Our ticket included a boat too and from mainland Malta, Sliema, where we were staying. The boat trip and bus tour package was sold to us as unmissable, and while we did enjoy it, they try to pack a lot in to one day. You are always clock watching through fear of missing the last bus and therefore the last boat home. The bus is every 45 minutes, so you only really have time to get off the bus a couple of times, so we ended up spending more time on the bus than off the bus. When we arrived at Gozo harbour it's absolute chaos trying to find which bus you should be on. There are lots of people and they hadn't made it self explanatory at all, we felt lucky to even get on a bus!

I was a bit confused about their colour routes and how the system works at first but basically there is one big route so forget about purple and blue routes.
There are 15 stops. Our first stop was 6th. We wanted to go back to 3rd but you have to go around numbers in sequence all the way to 15 then start again from 1. I thought there are many buses going around to and from but there aren't. Buses go only one direction.
Ideally you can choose 4 -6 stops beforehand and get off at the closest one first and move on to next one. Shortest time you can spend at one stop is 45 mins until next bus comes around. If 45 mins is too short then miss one bus then you get to spend 90 mins in one place.
Bus ride is unlimited but practically you won't have time to go around every stop because of ferry time. We chose Dwejra(Azure Window), Victoria(citadel), and Ta'pinu (church). After spending 90 mins each at Dwejra and Victoria sightseeing and shopping, there isn't much time left.
Earphones were working fine and loud enough. We bought tickets online and showed the phone at the bus gate but bus driver couldn't recognize and asked us to see the ticket lady. She came and sorted out for us. The process was not as smooth as other online products. Usually just show online tickets then go in right away.
There were other options to go around Gozo. We were a bit too late to book Jeep tour. Jeep tour is about €80 per person and go around basically same spots.
Hop on hop off bus is a great choice to see Gozo. Only one downside was you cannot reverse in routes and do the whole loop if you happen to miss one stop.

This is a really interesting mode of transport to use when visiting Gozo on a day trip from Malta. Great view over the countryside from the top deck. Good value for money. Tickets can be purchased at the port in Malta or on arrival in Gozo.

In our experience it was a very decent service with very helpful and friendly drivers.
Can't say much about the price because we got a discount, but the guy who sold us the tickets was very friendly and helpful, and willing to give us an affordable price.
Bus was waiting when we got off the ferry, not too many problems navigating. They stop at specific bus stops and then one comes back around every half an hour. They were pretty regular (less so on the latter stops). It's a good idea to drop a pin at the bus stops so that you remember where they are when you are going back to them.
The audio tour guide was very interesting for us (we have little knowledge of the area but were interested in visiting the historical sites). Might be too basic for history people but otherwise clear, usable and informative.
After we did the circuit the driver, Mario, went out of his way to help us get back to Victoria, was very friendly and helpful. Overall it seems to be worth the money, especially if you are staying for a short period of time, or visiting for a day, and want to get some decent sightseeing done.
Can't say much about the price because we got a discount, but the guy who sold us the tickets was very friendly and helpful, and willing to give us an affordable price.
Bus was waiting when we got off the ferry, not too many problems navigating. They stop at specific bus stops and then one comes back around every half an hour. This was a great way to see the sights of Gozo at a reasonable price, with the option of spending more time at particular sites and optionally catching a later bus.
But I really must mention Romy, one of the bus drivers, who really went above and beyond when I mentioned to him that I had mislaid a pair of glasses on a previous bus. He contacted the driver of that bus, took my mobile phone number and later rang me to say that the glasses and case had been found. He then arranged to meet me at our hotel at 19:30 in the evening to give the glasses back to me. A great example of excellent customer service. Well done and sincere thanks Romy 😀👏😀

Vorrei sapere se devo per forza scegliere tra il percorso viola e quello blu o se posso fare un po' in uno e un po' nell'altro.
Grazie
