- alkersom0 contributionsAmazing ice caveBjorn was a knowledgeable entertaining tour guide. Stayed calm and positive when the weather threw us a few curve balls. Ricardo was a hero helping us out and led a great tour of the ice cave. Ice cave was definitely the highlight. I’ve never seen anything like it - almost otherworldly and my teen was impressed. I’m nervous on ice but the crampons provided made the hike totally manageable.Written February 17, 2025

- TianyueWei0 contributionsAmazing Iceland tripSo wonderful trip, our family go with the guide David who is so responsible and reliable. The ice glacier hiking and blue cave tour are amazing ! The weather on the third day is not so good so the guide reorganized these two wonderful hikes both in the second day so that we don’t miss those activities. Thanks a lot to our guide David. And we see the aurora in the night where we lived . The appartement is very nice and comfortable as well as the breakfast. I recommend the tour so much !Written February 16, 2025
- shihs20250 contributionsAmazing views but poor experience with PGAbove all, Iceland is stunning, and we were lucky with the weather. But unfortunately, none of that could make up for PG, our guide, who might just be the most unprofessional and reckless driver I’ve ever encountered. Imagine turning a simple minibus ride into a full-on turbulence simulator—congratulations, PG, you nailed it! If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be on a jet for six hours on land, book this tour and ask for PG. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience (because I’d never do it again). Beyond his extraordinary driving skills, PG was rigid, dismissive, and had zero respect for the guests. If you hate your job this much, maybe, just maybe, consider doing something else? No one’s forcing you to be here. That being said, the tour itself was amazing, and I still had a great time despite the guide. With someone else leading, this would have easily been a 10/10 experience. One small suggestion for the tour company: consider making the seal beach stop 1 hour instead of 40 minutes. We only got 30, which made it impossible to walk there and back in time. It’s a beautiful spot, and I would’ve loved the chance to actually enjoy it properly. So overall—yes, this tour is worth it, but only if you don’t get PG as your guide. Otherwise, buckle up for the ride of your life… literally.Written February 16, 2025
- andraroro0 contributionsGreat bang for the buck! This was a great tour and i highly recommend it! Our tour guide Branimir was amazing, full of good advice and interesting information, he was very flexible and also took us places that were not on the itinerary but were really beautiful. We were also very lucky weatherwise, we had calm sunny weather on the glacier hike, bright sun on Diamond Beach and we also experienced gale-force winds on the Reynisfjara beach that matched the black sands and basalt columns. The tour was very well designed and although we drove a little over 400km each day, we never got bored, we had very well thought stops, we ate at nice places and the landmarks we saw were amazing. The glacier hike was one of the best things i did in my life, especially walking through the crevasses in the glacier. We did see a small ice cave, but the crevasses were the most amazing experience. The guide was nice and helpful and patient and the four hours of the hike went by very quickly and nothing was dangerous or strenuous. We spent the night at a guesthouse with comfortable rooms and really good food for dinner, and the location was wildly beautiful. We even saw the Northern lights -more muted than they look in pictures, but the forecast was really against us. Overall it was a great experience and i highly recommend this tour! It gives you a good idea about how southern Iceland is like, and it left us with amazing memories and pictures.Written February 16, 2025
- lisahC5947AU0 contributionsGreat 3-day tour with JulianaOur family of 5 (including 3 teenage boys) took the 3-day tour with Juliana as our guide. This was our first trip to Iceland and it was a terrific introduction to some of the highlights of this beautiful country. It was VERY windy for most of our tour, which caused the tour organizers to alter our trip to optimize the stops for the weather. This was handled seamlessly by Juliana and we were still able to see all of the expected sights. Juliana made a great audio overview that she played on the first leg of the trip. It was interesting, educational, and funny! She was a great communicator throughout the trip, keeping us on time and aware of what was coming, as well as options for food or extra activities when time allowed. She went out of her way to make the trip a great experience! Highlights for us were the Glacier hike, the Ice Cave hike, and Gullfoss Falls. We were also impressed with the cozy hotel we stayed at in Hrifunes. It was lovely and the dinner was delicious. Bonus: it was remote enough that we were able to see the Northern Lights quite well! The hotel for our second night in Hvolsvöllur was clean and totally fine, but not nearly as charming. Also, the bathroom was really tiny with no shelves and barely any hooks or racks for towels. The actual room was huge, so just an odd design. The water pressure was also very low and food was mediocre. Overall, the tour exceeded my expectations and made me want to return to see even more of Iceland's beauty!Written February 16, 2025

We had the absolute pleasure of taking an ice cave hike today with Oscar, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The landscape was breathtaking, and we discovered so many fascinating details along the way. Oscar, our guide, was incredibly informative and knowledgeable, providing us with in-depth explanations about each site we visited. His patience was remarkable—he gave us ample time to capture photos at every stop, ensuring we never felt rushed.
One of the highlights of the tour was learning about how glaciers form. I was amazed to find out that it takes 15 meters of regular snow to create just 1 meter of glacier ice. This was a new and fascinating fact for me, and Oscar’s clear and engaging explanations made it even more interesting.
When we finally reached the portion of the actual ice cave, Oscar made the experience even more special. He arranged for us to enter one by one, allowing each of us to capture those perfect, uninterrupted photos. This thoughtful touch made the experience feel incredibly personal and memorable.
Overall, this was an unforgettable experience, and I can’t thank Oscar enough for going above and beyond to make it so. If you’re considering an ice cave hike, I highly recommend doing it with Oscar as your guide—you won’t be disappointed!

So much fun! I had no idea when I booked this that we would actually be putting crampons on, hiking up a glacier and walking over board bridges over rushing glacier rivers to get to the ice cave! Was way more adventurous than I realized and was a total blast. We got wet because there was melting ice water showering down on to one section but it was quick and we dried out so it made it more fun. I would highly recommend wearing all your layers including waterproof or quick-drying pants and a raincoat. We learned a lot of interesting factoids about glaciers, ice caves, volcanos, etc. It was really great. My only comment would be that we were not taken out in a Jeep but a 12 passenger van which was kind of disappointing and not as comfortable because we were in the back. It was about 45 minutes from Vík to the starting point and 35 minutes of it was off roading which was pretty bumpy in the back of the van. It was also hard to hear what the guide was saying in the back. So I guess my only comment would be they shouldn’t advertise it as a Jeep tour if they’re going to put you in a van. Nonetheless, it was a great time and would highly recommend it. The ice cave is absolutely beautiful and our guide told us it would be melted by July!!

This was an amazing once in a life time experience. We had the unfortunate weather where it was a a downpour of rain from the time we got to Katla to the time we got back to the bus. Our guide David was incredible, he not only explained the rich history of the caves we were going to, but also provided us with a rich background on Iceland it’s self. David provided us with humour and a great tour and despite us being soaked from the torrential downpour as well as the caves he made sure we all had a great time exploring the cave. We ended up getting to explore one of the newer but caves they had recently discovered and it was incredibly breathtaking. If you have the time I recommend taking this tour very worth the money and will provide you with an incredible experience in Iceland.

we had a great time on our tour! there were a total of four guests and 1 guide so it was very intimate and we could ask plenty of questions. Well worth the cost as we were able to access the glacier beyond what we could do without a guided tour.

The drive to the location was scenic and enjoyable in an impressive Jeep.
The location was breathtaking and completely out in the wilderness with picturesque views in each direction.
The hike to the ice cave, after equipping our crampons, wasn’t strenuous but was steep in some areas lots of assistance was given to those who required it however.
Both ice caves were interesting albeit a bit small for what I expected however I wasn’t disappointed.
The only negative of the trip was the slightly late pick up but the rest was so incredible it outshines that fault.

We booked tickets in advance for this 3 hour tour, starting in Vik Iceland and a 40min super jeep ride to the glacier. Then a short, easy 20min hike with crampons to the ice caves, walking on the glacier itself. Nat, our guide was brilliant! Very friendly, funny and knowledgeable. This was our favourite tour of all during our 1 week stay travelling along the south of Iceland. I would thoroughly recommend the tour company!

This was one of the most incredible experiences of my life up to this point. It had snowed overnight and we were on the morning tour (would recommend doing it in the morning as the winter days in Iceland are short and this way you don't need to worry about running out of daylight). Efficient pick up in Vik in the Super Jeep - I felt completely safe on the drive to the cave. Trym was an excellent guide explaining what he needed from us with regards to keeping us all safe. Gave us information on the caves and some history. Being inside the ice caves was such a surreal experience - to realise that I was surrounded by ice from a glacier - it just broke my mind.
I loved it so much that I'm already planning to return to Iceland within the next 3 months to go visit a different ice cave as each one is different. Thank you Trym for the amazing experience!

We opted for the 7:30 tour to avoid the crowds and it was well worth it. Even after a mechanical issue the company switched out a replacement vehicle efficiently.
Our tour guide Stefan was great. He was very easy going, funny, and engaging. Once we got to the cave he provided a lot of great information about the caves and the region. Well worth the trip from Sydney.

The tour itself was an amazing experience, however I would recommend to do this with a different tour operator company. When we arrived at the starting point , the woman guide who was in changed of dispatching groups at check in was very unpleasant and rude , she seamed very annoyed with the amount of people she had to deal with. The tour from beginning to the end was about 3 hours
Once dispatched , there were no super jeep for our group . What a disappointment!! We were looking forward to this experience since this was part of the high light of the tour instead , We spent about 2 hours round trip on a mini van which was not suitable for the bumpy road full of rocks and holes , We were all extremely uncomfortable.
Once we finally arrived on site , our group didn’t get much directions , we were kind of ignored by the woman guide. She was mostly interacting with her own group. Finally after a while, we were directed to our guide Adam who was amazing , caring and very knowledgeable about safety and details on how to walk through the caves which was about a 45 min tour .he saved the day !!
I would definitely recommend the cave tour but experience it with the super jeep would of been amazing !

We had a good time with our guide Asi. He navigated the jeep through rough terrain on the way over lava fields to the ice cave very well and played great music for our enjoyment.
Once there we quickly attached crampons to our boots, were given helmets and were on our way. After approximately 20 minutes hiking through lava fields (quite a bit of it ice covered) we arrived at the ice cave. While the cave was cool and the guide gave us a lot of interesting facts we were surprised at how small the cave was. The pictures on the website showed a huge cavernous area so we were expecting to walk through a narrow opening and then it would open up significantly to a large area. This was not the case. You literally had to squeeze through some of the tunnel and it never opened to a large area. Only one person at a time could fit into the back area. This was kind of disappointing given what was advertised.
After visiting this area, our guide took us back to the truck and drove us to an area where some older caves were. It seems that this was an extremely large cave that has now collapsed. So we are thinking the pictures were taken in this original area. We get that we are looking at something that is natural and ever evolving but the website should advise that so expectations are set accordingly.
We enjoyed the trek - the scenery was spectacular and our guide was great telling us a lot about Iceland, glaciers and even pointing out movie set locations. Just a little underwhelmed by the specific cave that we visited.

How long is the walk in the ice cave? How long is the trip in the keep fro Vik to the Ice Cave?
?
Written April 6, 2023
You are only in the cave for 15 minutes. They try to keep it uncrowded. The Jeep ride is an hour each way and the hike to and from is about a mile.

I agree with Ryryrobs, I'm in my late 50s but fairly agile. It is scary in places but thoroughly enjoyable. The access/route changes daily due to the weather so some of the bridges and crossing disappear overnight. We all helped each other and the guide was very understanding. The trip in the super jeep is worthwhile even if she feels she doesn't want to venture into the cave.
Written January 13, 2020
The walking is very easy. There is a lot of bending down through the cave. It is a narrow opening and very dark. There is a big of climbing and leaping across little streams of water. But I highly recommend

How do most people get from reykjavik to Vik for the dragon glass cave tour?
Written June 15, 2019
It is about a 2 hour 45 minute drive from Reykjavik to Vik. This caught us by surprise, we hadn't done our research before hand. Iceland is a much bigger country than we thought! We ended up renting a car to drive out there and back.
